The worst banking institution in existence, the staff intentionally aggravate you and make mistakes galore. The customer service and staff act in a way in which it’s just excepted how poor the banking practises are and you are expected to just be OK with it. Some of the most incompetent people I’ve ever spoke to Worked with Scotiabank.

Lucy provided us extraordinary customer service today. We came with an urgency request few minutes before closing time. And Lucy was wonderful. She understood our problem and went above and beyond to provide a solution. We are very happy being Scotiabank customer, and these kind of employees makes our experience even better. Lucy deserves to be promote soon!

Jason Lai is the best financial advisor we have ever met. Super helpful and amazing. The bank is lucky to have him.
Thank you for amazing and professional work Jason. You are the best

Ester Derry the mortgage broker was the worst mortgage broker I have ever dealt with, she tried to give me an extremely high rate and thank god I shopped around and First National gave me a rate that was 2% lower than hers and I ended up closing the deal with them. Also, Ester was very unprofessional and non-responsive. Will never recommend.

NEVER DEAL WITH ESTER DERRY THE WORST MORTGAGE BROKER - she will mess up your chances of getting approved and rip you off with a crazy rate and get angry at you. I’ve had 3 mortgages with Scotiabank and I am glad I went elsewhere because of Ester Derry, and I will never return.

Excellent customer service. Mr Keith Shottha. He assisted me with my credit card problem. He simply resolved my issue, which I had been dealing with for the past 5 months. I appreciate his efforts and the manner in which he explained everything about credit cards.

Excellent customer service today by W. Beaumont. I came in with a difficult request that I couldn't solve in another branch. They were empathetic with my situation and helped me quite fast and efficiently.

I referred to this branch for a simple day-to-day financial task. Jon Dong was the (senior) financial advisor responsible for it. He conducted himself in a very unprofessional manner and demonstrated very poor and unacceptable customer service practices. Namely, he asked personal and/or private questions and treated me in a judgemental, biased and rude manner. This has been my worst banking experience ever, and the behavior, culture and customer service couldn't possibly be worse and more disappointing.

Do not bank with these guys they are scammers! I had to pay extra interest and when I’m closing my visa it so happens I cannot close it unless I’m in person. What a terrible banking system. I’m switching to RBC and everyone should do the same.

Malika was very helpful and kind and she answered all of my queries without any hesitation. Thanks again for the great service!

I have been banking with Scotiabank since the late 80s and I recently closed my accounts after years of frustration over poor services and ever increasing fees.

I quit the bank because they do not care about individual depositors or small business. The service has declined to the point where attending the bank in person usually results in a error that I must spend time correcting after the fact.

The staff at this main branch in particular are very poorly trained. The turnover is huge. I attend at the branch once a month and I never see the same teller twice. Its always someone new, and I must explain to them how to do their job every singe time. And guess what? Even with my handholding they still get it wrong.

All the experienced people at this branch have left or been promoted and what they have now is a revolving door of underpaid and disinterested community college dropouts.

If there is an issue with your account, expect a blank stare and a shrug. Expect to be given a number to call that has no voicemail. Expect wait times on the phone of about 1 hour. And when you finally do reach someone, expect to get a different answer from each person you talk to. Business banking is not cheap here. You do not get what you pay for.

I do not recommend this branch for anything, not even exchanging foreign currency. I wouldn't even come in here to get out of the rain TBH.

I was having trouble sending a wire transfer to Mexico. I had been trying to get this information from Scotia for weeks now and Saul Baik was the only one who was able to help. Thank you so much Saul.

Tellers are nice but every time when I need to deal with larger amount of money and they went to ask Susanne for permission, she gave me a hard time. Told me I can’t transfer between banks and can only give me cash draft. Also asked me to go to my home branch to withdraw larger amount of money after the teller told me I can request here in advance and I agreed. Terrible management at this location!

The only person that really knows what they are doing over there is Ardy. She is a real professional and always a pleasant to talk to when I have her as my teller.

Can't say the same about the other tellers. I went there today to get a bill paid and they told me they wouldn't be able to process that bill because they weren't sure if it was the right payee name they had in the system. Mind you. I have been going to this branch for two years to pay that same bill every month. So this just goes to show that they really have no clue what they are doing.

I've been banking here for 5+ years and now they told me that I need to line up at the business line downstairs? ! They should really inform people and not just suddenly bring it up when I lined up to find out that they cannot assist me. Need a better way to inform their clients. Very disappointed.

Hazel is the worst! She is rude, has an attitude and is the worst candidate for customer service. A bank manager should be able to resolve your problem, instead, she rolls her eyes and sighs when you talk. The associates/tellers are all untrained, lazy and useless. Even after 3 employees from the bank confirm to you that you won’t be charged a monthly fee, you still are, because apparently they don’t bother updating their system and the customer’s accounts. You will want to pull your hair out doing business with them. Scotiabank at W Georgia is the worst!
Simran, Kris, Kangna, Caro are inexperienced and godawful!

So many issues right off the bat! I'm a new client and assumed and wanted so much for this to be a good bank because it's close and is centralized.but it hasn't and didn't hit the mark. Long story short - They like handing out advice, making big decisions, all the while they have no idea what they're talking about. Not a great idea any time especially with peoples money! People here really need more training.

Useless staff including Manager of the branch who cannot deal with difficult situation, patronizes clients and in the end walks away to hide in his office. The worse banking experience you can possibly have. Avoid at any cost unless you enjoy talking to monkeys.
14 April 2020 22:34
Worst experience I’ve ever received. Simran spent 15 minutes looking for an appointment. When. Asked to freeze an account with a death certificate I was told I cannot as this was not a home branch of the deceased. Simran had this information all along and could have redirected me right away rather than spending that time looking for an appointment y 3 weeks away- only for me to realize after 3 weeks they can do nothing for me. This is my second poor experience with this bank. I have dealt with 4 other banks about the same matter and not one treated me this poorly. The tellers have no common knowledge of their processes of the accounts they deal with.

If you have a choice DO NOT deal with this bank.

Good customer service but poor working hours for a downtown branch. Should also work on Saturdays.
17 January 2020 23:09
No valid information given over the phone or at the bank. I tried calling the bank 4 consecutive days to get an appointment for a new account. Once a rep over the phone said we don’t need an appointment for a student account so we walk in and see we need an appointment. I decided not to call as they either hang up or give wrong up.
I paid the fees through a travel card couple of times before but no one told me they won’t do it as a travel card has no name on it. But unfortunately, they said they can’t accept it as it has no valid name to prove the card belongs to me.
There’s no accountability for any information they given either in the phone or at the branch. Worst experience!
It’s disappointing to see that a bank like such have no accountability to anything they say or do.

The worst bank in Vancouver and unfriendly staff.its police office not bank, they ask too many personal questions. Otherwise, staff is so friendly in other bank on Robson street.

I came here to get some help with my closed bank account, and Gurtej was absolutely amazing. He was so patient with all the documents I needed, and we had a great conversation while he was looking into my account. Amazing customer service.

I work right next to the bank. Makes it super accessible and the tellers are always very friendly and helpful

Banked with Scotia for almost 14 years. What makes Scotiabank stand out is its people, its partnership with SCENE (if movies is a thing for you), and its globalization. However, it is behind in its tech and more importantly, over the years, far less people are willing to go out of their way to stand up for their clients and offer personal service to make up for system glitches (data inconsistency).

In the past, I would excuse Scotia for inaccurate charges, misinformation, lost communication, and more, because they would make time for me as I would them. It was time consuming and, often times, frustrating to find that you are unable to reconcile your records due to your trusted bank's error, but as I mentioned in the beginning, the people (staff) are generally upstanding and good. So I would sacrifice my time to continue using their services and find a solution or compromise to the problem as they came up.

Over a year ago, I locked an investment for 360 days with the expectation that I would get a guaranteed 1.95% return. It is a tiny percentage but I opted for the option since I wanted to park my money somewhere where I'd still get a little something back before making a substantial payment the following year later. I always trusted in the advisor's advice and chose to believe they had my interests at heart.

When it came time for me to receive the premium interest (date shown in my online banking profile), a few days before the deadline of the payment I was saving up for, nothing came. I thought, "Ok.their system might be slow or behind. I'll wait a night and check back in the morning. " Unfortunately, nothing showed the next morning. I printed all my statements and screenshots and brought it into the bank along with my mobile phone to show the representative what I see and explain my situation. Time was of the essence.

2 representatives conferred. They searched their system and discovered that what is shown in my screen does not match what is shown in theirs and decided to submit an investigations claim. They verbally told me that no matter what, the bank needs to honor what was shown to me (in my screen which I use as my basis) and said that they'd get back to me. I left them all my evidential papers with my contact info and the best way to reach me.

True enough, they followed-up later that day in agreement with my assessment. Rep M (will not reveal the name with respect to the person) informed me that he had taken charge of the case submission for the investigation and apologized with the explanation that the system is having technical issues that they cannot do anything about. He promised to bring it up with the department responsible and told me that the money should show-up tomorrow, just in time for me to make my payment deadline. I let it go and said I'd be back as soon as they opened the following day.

The next morning comes swiftly and still nothing showed up. Rep M got his manager involved and they guaranteed they would follow-up with the case and ensure I got what was owed to me. In the meantime, I told them I cannot wait any longer and will need to take out what is available for its planned purpose. They had no gripes and let me go with what is rightfully mine.

The months following that, things all went downhill. I never saw Rep M again and the manager sent me an email saying that the department responsible found no discrepancies or inaccuracies in their records and will not be submitting a payout. They implied that my calculations were incorrect and I never heard back after. I did my best to escalate the matter with other reps, supervisors and managers, but it was all moot. My time was squandered and no justice was served, not even an inconveneince fee. All this for less than 2%, a couple hundreds, chump change to Scotiabank. That was the end of the line for my relationship with the corporation. Not only did I lose money, but more importantly, time and trust.
