I gave my daughter 3 bank of nova scotia drafts for her birthday.she went to her branch at Broadway and Mcdonald and deposited them to he account through the ATM. They indicated to her their was an error (they were not sure why or what) and they were not going to release the funds as they were being held. The teller was very helpful but could not solve the problem. She asked to the manager and after three of four requests he reluctantly saw her and he could not help her with the situation. She has dealt with Scotiabank for over 25 years and I as her dad had been a manager for Scotiabank for had over 38 years working for Scotia. It seems the service was exceptionally poor at best with no solution other than wait to see if it gets corrected.
Not what I expected for a simple situation.

The employee (Heison Yu) who made errors in applying 4.5% advertised bank interest to my funds, referred me to the "manager, " (Jonas) who led me to beileive he was the "mgr", who in turn gave me incorrect information, never resolved the lost 90 days interest, whose phone is always full, cant leave messages, and later when i called 800 number i found the real manager (Hang Zhou).

Why are heison and jonas not connecting clients to the mgr when asked to?

I have left a vmail and email forHang, hoping he will call me to fix the account and provide the advertized bank interest.

I would stay away from this branch. They have badly trained employees.

This is the worst bank ever, this branch specifically. I was promised by Pouya Raji that i will receive 35k points if i open my account before November 2022, and i sent him my docs on 20th of October. I never received the points, I followed up with him and emailed him, he referred me to support! Support did nothing for me and Pouya stopped responding to my emails. He is the worst, and scotiabank is the most unprofessional bank i have ever seen. Will never do banking with them. Awful experience

SB doesn't want you to come into branches. However, today, I had question that could not be answered by the call centre in Belize, and had to hike across town to get my answer. It took an hour out of my day, I got to speak to an expressionless inert mass of non-responsive teller, got what I came for, and left. I agree with the other poster, Banks ARE the problem. I too will move my business to a Credit Union.

I am happy to deal with this Scotia location!
I have had nothing but positive experiences. Prompt, efficient and friendly service, always.
Been a member with Scotia since 1996 and frequented this branch when it was kitty corner across the street on south west corner.
As formerly mentioned, I too am perplexed as to the negative reviews. I feel perhaps it’s been a rough few years and we all need to just give one another a break. For whatever it’s worth I find the cliche ‘patience is a virtue’ has more baring than ever as of late.
Regardless: Life is pretty darn good here on the West Coast compared to other parts of the world!

Not sure why there are many negative reviews but I had great experience here. Rene was super helpful and also spent time checking everything. He was friendly and had smiles on him the whole time.

What a horrible experience! Manager can’t help you. Banks are a waste of money and time. Moving all my business to a credit union. This location filled with telemarketers. Treat you like you owe them something. Stay away from Scotia bank!
