Seh-mi Japanese Restaurant Courtenay

Excellent food, excellent atmosphere and very friendly staff! A regular stop for my family and I!

This has become my favorite place for Sushi. The Sushi is superb and the staff is always friendly and spot on.

It was quiet but I was in and out in 15 minutes. Got my green tea with my miso soup. Then I got my agadashi tofu with my maki and my inari tofu. It was hot and delicious. If you want fast good food I highly recommend.

We ordered an appetizer to start then the chicked dish for my wife and the dynamite bento box for myself. After around 25 minutes my wife's meal was brought to te table. We enquired after the appetizer and the meal was removed. While we waited for the appetizer some of the bento box items were brought to the table and 10 minutes later we received the appetizer arrived which was tasty. A few minutes later my wifes now cold meal was brought and shortly after the rest on the bentos box arrived. My food was flavourless and her's cold. We took home most of her chicken to warm up and will not be going back to this establishment. My complaint when paying was met with smiles and agreement that it could have gone better.

Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) with Korean BBQ sauce was awesome! It tastes authentic K-bbq style + It is boneless chicken so easy to eat. Also, had a fried shrimp dish (no pic though) was very crisp and delicious:) I strongly recommend this place if you like to try K-chicken in Courtenay.

After seeing very good reviews, we tried Seh-mi for lunch. The food was okay to good (e.g, the avocado in the rolls was almost non-existent), and for the prices being charged, I personally think there are better/fresher options in the valley. Service was great! In terms of atmosphere, the restaurant had a bit of a funky smell to it. I've been told they're not the first restaurant in the building, so it could be lingering from a previous restaurant? I don't know.

Update after the message from the owner: Thanks for taking reviews seriously! I don't remember posting photos of our visit. I actually forgot to take a photo of my own dish. Also, I'm absolutely certain we visited your restaurant - it was within the past week.

Kinda dissapointed again, I thought id give them another shot since the last time they werent as good as last time, but this time my oysters never came with the salad its soposed to come with, just oysters and sauce, and the roll I ordered never came with soya sauce or wusabi, and my miso had no seaweed in it.and the portion size got alot smaller. Very dissapointed, much more better options imo

One of my favorite places to dine period. Only downside is COVID made there hours limited and there open as often as I'd like. Worth the wait though in every single way

The food is here is simply delicious! Gave four stars because service was not great, but we got tasty food so can't complain too much. Definitely worth checking out, awesome food and fair prices.

ambiance is good, lots of parking, service was ok. 20$ for tataki that was inedible, would not get raw fish here. Rice was crumbling apart, seemed like a couple day old rice. Purple rice is frozen, leading to dry and hard rice. Miso was good. I understand why locals do not come back to this place. There are many sushi restaurants here in courtenay and I would not recommend this one

Such great service! I had the terriaki chicken. It came sizzling hot and very flavourful. The restaurant also has a warm atmosphere which always earns another big star. Thank you.

Huge rave to the awesome sushi (so good I didn't get a picture lol) and the awesome selection of Ramone, and the to die for desserts they have. Such an amazing little place that brings back so many memories just being there. Thank you! Ps. Amazingly fresh tuna.

My wife and I went for supper - spur of the moment - last Saturday. Nice inside decor.

She had a Bento box and I had the Chicken teriyaki. Both were excellent. Generous portions. Very good service too!
We'll be back for sure!

Flavor is really authentic for Spicy Seafood Ramen (more like chewhly noodle not instant noodle at all) a.k. A jjambbong in Korean. Super busy vibrant place need to wait for seating and ordering food for sure. One point minus for the second smoke that kept wafting in from the opened kitchen door (it's hot I understand) and ppl smoking near the door. Will be back again and maybe sit farther away from the entrance to avoid that.

Really lovely and kind waitresses and servers, forst time being here was delicious sushi and the way they presented the sushi dishes was beautiful art.

Every time I've ordered here the food is fresh, fast and satisfying. One of my go to places when I haven't packed a lunch and want to feel good after I eat (instead of fast food drive through). I call ahead and its ready for pick up in about 15 minutes.

I love this place! It's probably me and my boyfriend's favourite sushi spot in Courtenay. The food is always delicious, the seating is ample and private, the prices are reasonable and the staff is super friendly. It's our go-to sushi spot.

The true test of a wonderful dining experience is the presentation and taste of the food offered, and this resturant offers it in spades. There are artists in the kitchen and servicing staff that orchestrate a quiet efficient atmosphere that only enhances your meal. Portion size and price are remarkably good. The Bento Box, which is always my favorite, was a real winner for me and will entice me to go back again and again.

Been there twice in the span of a month and the sushis have been superb both times and the staff is great! One of my favorite sushi place in town now.

I go out for sushi probably too much, and this is my favourite sushi restaurant in Courtenay. The gomaee and tempura, and sashimi are always so good too. I don't know if the sashimi is fresh or previously frozen but it tastes incredibly fresh and melts in your mouth in the best way. The prices are very good and the quality is always there. They also have very friendly servers every single time I eat there!

Korean restaurant masquerading as a sushi restaurant. Not a Japanese person in sight. Remarkably good sushi though. Rice was a little dry.

Our family got katsu don, yakisoba, galbi, toro sashimi, takoyaki, halibut tempura, and a few maki rolls. Every single dish tasted pretty good. Service is decent but could be improved. We asked for no onions in one of the dishes and they forgot.

My first time at Seh-mi for dinner and was very impressed with the food. We were seated immediately and service was friendly. We started with the veggie spring rolls and they were excellent. They arrived hot and light tasting and not greasy. Main meals were the veggie dynamite roll and california roll with smoked salmon. I can't wait to go back to try one of the mainy other items on their menu.

Everything was delicious! We had the chicken yakisoba and 4 different rolls. Service was friendly and very welcoming and attentive.

We love Seh-mi! They are always very welcoming when we walk in the door, and have exceptionally good sushi, among the BEST in the Valley! My small takeout order of two rolls was ordered, prepared, and bagged in less than five minutes Very impressed!

We've had many items on the menu over the years and they are always consistently delicious and of good quality.

Visiting from Alberta and I absolutely NEEDED to have sushi while near the ocean. I ordered chop scallop and sockeye salmon with avocado rolls as well as sockeye salmon and toro sashimi. Very fast service, super fresh, and friendly, patient staff who was very kind when my friend and I were too busy catching up to even look at the menu. Prices are very good compared to home, I was pleasantly surprised at the bill.

Fast food and service. To be honest, when I ordered a bento box special I was not expecting it to come with 2 dishes outside the box. It was yummy, I could barely eat it all! And I'm not a small man.

Nice portions and great price. Great service.
Busy some nights. That's when I order takeout.
