Friendly staff and the service was faster than I expected. Came to apply for a SIN without an appointment and got it done in about half an hour.

The attention is extremely friendly. The directions are clear and the information is detailed.

I went to apply for a SIN with a Japanese acquaintance. The staff at the counter was very responsive.
Apparently it's crowded in the morning and you have to wait quite a while, so I went there before 3pm and was able to complete the process in about 45 minutes.

Had read lots of good reviews about this location. Although I didn't have appointment but decided to try the walk- in option, today (Oct 6th). Reached around 8 am and one person was waiting before me. When office opened at 8: 30 am then 6-7 people were in line. Once inside then one of staff directed me to booth 6. Whole process of form review & fee submission took 26 minutes. Staff here are nice & super helpful. I was told that passport would be printed by Nov 6th & will be delivered via post by Nov 14th (tentative). As passport applications submitted here are sent to Ontario for printing as per staff.

If application form is filled properly with relevant docs attached then it won't take longer for submission.

They are incredibly supportive and passionate. They are here to assist and guide you. I highly recommend others to visit this location for any needs.

I don’t remember her name but she was very helpful and kind. I appreciate how quick it was!

Decided to go to this location after reading reviews of other Service Canada Centres. Got here at 9: 30am on a Thursday and was so surprised when I ended up being the 3rd person in line. The security guard told me it's not usually this quiet. I managed to submit my child's passport application and leave the office within 45 minutes! Everyone there was really nice. 3 of the 8 stalls were staffed, plus the intake clerk. Very pleasantly surprised by this location!

Only downside was I paid for a day of parking at the underground parkade as I anticipated a few hours' wait - $15.

I arrived at 7: 45am and was fourth in line. By 8: 30am, the line had grown to more than 17 people. I was helped right away for a passport renewal and was out in 20 minutes. There were at least 6 people working so the line was moving quickly, but a lot of people started arriving around 8: 45am who had booked an appointment. Would recommend getting there early!
27 January 2023 6:51
Stupidly inefficient
a person can take at least 20mins
whoever plans the whole operational flow or whatever is just dumb
either understaffed, applications should be filled out prior, passport and SIN should be separated, or they’re just slow
who the hell has so much daytime to waste just to line up for every visit in which things can’t even be done?
06 January 2023 2:24
I came to update my SIN number. I did not need an appointment, good service, friendly staff. In and out in leas than 40 minutes.
01 January 2023 3:18
Great experience! I was trying to avoid the 3 hours queue in downton office, and in just 20 minutes I was there, Ive got in at 8: 50 and was out at 9: 30 with my SIN number. Staff extra nice!
13 October 2022 21:46
Got there at 7: 30 and waited in line until it opened at 8: 30, I was 4th in line. Once it opened I went straight in and got helped out immediately. Very friendly staff, about 6 people were working the counters. If you need your passport within 15 days this is not the place to go, they will turn you away and direct you to the Passport Services office downtown. The clerk did review my application and caught a couple of things so it was not a complete waste of time.

The women security guards act like their police or something. Put your things together and do proper service and if you are going to be rude, just stay inside and do nothing like you always do. At least don’t be rude to people, its a common sense.
19 July 2022 8:32
The security lady was openly rude. Dealing with important documents at service canada is already stressful, no need to be this rude and complicate things. Shame on such service!
09 July 2022 12:09
The security lady was rude and unprofessional, totally unacceptable. She asked me to leave after queuing up for 2 hours, and come back again tmr at 8: 30 without giving me a proper reason.

I lined up for 2 hours, and the security lady asked me three questions before she let me enter the center. Do I have and covid symptoms? Am I vaccinated? Do I have covid?
I answered her I don't have covid symptoms and I am fully vaccinated. I also told her I was somehow randomly selected to do a covid test in the airport (but that doesn't mean I have covid)
Then she didn't let me in and ask me to come again tmr at 8: 30 without telling me why I cannot enter to the service center.
So do I need to show I negative test result to enter the center? She didn't reply me. Why do I have to leave? She didn't answer. The only words from her is 'I need to you leave'.

I went to other service center to get my things done. NO QUESTIONS ASKED before they let me in. I got my things done in another center.

I hope she can improve her English and learn some basic communication skills. I understand there was a long queue and she was probably tired from work, but I was treated poorly

I arrived at 6: 30 am (May 26th) because I applied for my passport at this office in the beginning of April and I still haven’t received it. I was the first one in line, most people didn’t show up for the line until 7ish. If you have a similar situation, it’s not a good idea to come here. They told me they couldn’t do anything for me because this was not a passport center. So, if you’re wanting to check on the status of your passport and you have a trip coming up, this is not the place to go. I’m giving it 5 stars because people are just doing their job and they acknowledge the long wait times. But still, what a huge bummer!
24 June 2022 9:57
We went there a Monday morning around 9 and the line wasn't too long. It took us around 1 hour to get our SIN. Everyone was really nice and treated us great. It was a nice welcome to the country.
22 June 2022 3:49
Only 2 booths operating so the line was extremely slow moving, arrived at 8am and waited over 4 hours to be seen. Pretty poor service with massive room for improvement in my opinion.
09 June 2022 5:15
No appointments available online, so I had to go in person for walk-in being at month 8 of pregnancy. The security lady at the entrance was very unfriendly. The website doesn’t explain how to mail the documents with the original documents (citizenship certificate and my ID?). I believe #serviceCanada can do better work! I’ve been in line-up for more than an hour and still only half way through a big line up from 10: 30 am.
18 May 2022 9:41
Very nice people and good costumer everyone there very helpful both security guards nice people
28 April 2022 6:46
Website is broken, no way to resolve, and long wait in person. Trying to submit documents on time becomes an impossibility. Staff is not properly trained, told us twice they could not do what was required before talking to a manager to figure out that they could. Senior officer training was completely inappropriate in front of customers towards staff.
14 April 2022 21:54
Rude security lady and long wait, but super helpful agents. Allow more time than you think you'll need
30 September 2021 3:04
The wait was quick enough. We arrived at 8: 45 am and wait time was about 30 minutes. Peter over there was super helpful, polite and professional!
13 March 2021 10:25
Long lines, one desk staff, very long wait time. 30 to 50 minutes.but when you get in, they do everything possible to assist!
25 February 2021 12:55
Waited for two hours and issue never resolved, told application fell through the cracks, phone you will never get through so need to wait again, pretty much zero service canada. UPDATE: After sending a letter explaining my issue, it was resolved within a week
02 February 2021 16:37
The front desk staff gave me a totally wrong information, she said I can go to passport Canada dt location directly to give my biometric there because they don’t do it at West Broadway location, but by the time when I get to passport Canada dt location they said I need to have an appointment or they will not accept the request?
Totally wasting my time!
14 January 2021 1:52
They make you come in to show your documents and then are shut for an unknown amount of time, the website to book an appointment is down/doesn't work when it loads. This is unacceptable for an essential service

The staff here are absolutely nice and professional. I wish I've gotten the lady's name at station 6, she is so lovely.
11 June 2019 13:39
The worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life at this branch! Yes they maybe friendly and polite but so far out of 4 of the staff I have dealt with 3 of them are incompetent to do there job! Its been 5 weeks and I still have not recieved an EI payment due to there staff not sending, correct documents, loosing documents or not giving me the correct information required to process me claim on time! If you want help with an EI claim do not go to this branch. They are a bunch of muppets!
08 October 2018 16:32
Not helping with my EI claim at all, just point to the phone and ask me to call the call centre! Rude and unhelpful location.
28 August 2018 6:28
At least smile while you are stealing our money for your overpriced useless projects no one asked for.

This was probably the most pleasant experience I have ever had at a governmental office. First of all, there was no line-up whatsoever and was attended to within seconds. I went to renew 3 passports (my own and my two kids') simultaneously, and it was a lot of paperwork for this young gentleman "Karl" on the other side of the counter. He was extremely polite, friendly and patient with me, despite some minor mistakes I had on my application forms. It was done in about 30 minutes. The experience was so pleasant that I even shook Karl's hand as I left, which was the first time I have ever done that with a government employee.

P. S. There was a bum who seems to frequent the back lane between West Broadway and West 8th Ave. On my way walking to my car after this Service Canada visit, he went absolutely ballistic on me because he thought I had looked at him funny. He went on this 10 minute tirade, yelling racial slurs and various threats at the top of his lungs. Fortunately it was just all verbal, nothing physical.

With regard to working for the Canadian government, I think all citizens of Canada should have an equal opportunity to work for their government. Some jobs require a high school diploma, other jobs require a university degree. Far too often, qualified applicants applied to work for the Canadian government, but they never heard back from the human resources department. This type of public hiring practice causes concern for employment discrimination. The people with connections get in, and the people without connections do NOT get in which is unfair because all Canadian citizen tax payers should have an equal employment opportunity when it comes to working for their government. Here is a suggestion, for those who are qualified for the positions that they applied for, they should be placed on a waiting list just like anyone else. If a job comes up, then it is their term. We are all Canadians. Why should some Canadians have more rights than others?

If those who are hired cause problems at the work place, for example, attacking their co-workers frivolously and maliciously, then they can be terminated for the right reasons.

If the Canadian government treats Canadians like Canadians, then the world will see that Canada is a truly fair and free country!

I went to the Broadway location because I needed to do a Wills Search. Apparently, you need to go to a BC Service centre NOT a Canada Services centre. There was a larger lady with curly hair at the reception who was very rude. She proclaimed "We don't do that here. " and then walked away. Another gentleman was very helpful and pointed me to a computer where I could use the internet. Oddly, when you search up BC Services locations Vancouver, the first thing that shows up is this location. Anyways, the kind gentleman gave me a paper which listed the location of a Vital Statistics location where I could submit the required form. Perhaps, this could be a learning experience for the rude lady and she could provide some type of assistance in the future for such inquiries.
