Sherwood Marine Centre

Bought a brand new boat for 175000.00 cash! It takes on water, Bow heavy, no efficient bilge system, "water tested by sherwood" poorly balanced and bow heavy. 3 days of rain in the marina and I had to cut my bow line to the dock as it was so tight from all the water build up in the bow. The rear deck was so full of water, I had to bail the rear deck to open the door to get in.
Sales manager won't reply in emails and insisted a phone call "off the record" is the best way to communicate.

They are spending so much effort to avoid 1 to 2 thousand dollars for a rear freshwater ballast system to fix the issue. For the amount I spent, there should be no issue with making my boat safe.
They have my money now so who cares? Not them, that's for sure.

The funny thing is, they seem to be most fearful of how much it will cost me to bring them the boat across the ferry from vancouver to victoria, for me to go home, for me to come back to pick the boat up, and how much it will cost to to bring the boat back to Vancouver.

Possibly approximately $1000.00

In the 140 emails between us (before they realized putting things in writing involved transparancy and honesty) the one thing they would never reply to was " who pays for the ferry for the warranty work? "

Maybe they shouldn't sell to mainland Vancouver without warning us they will flake on ferry charges should an issue arise

All in All this review is based off of a perspective of a "reputable dealer" not providing adequate concern for my safety as a customer.

Absolutely fantastic service! These folks answer the phone and phone you back. They are efficient, friendly, and had the best price on the island for my outboard. Need to exchange your new prop- absolutely no problem. Highly recommend!

I purchased a Gala 420 from Sherwood Marine at the Vancouver boat show. I could not take delivery until late April. Absolutely no problem. I was dealing with Richard and he was outstanding. No pressure but had all the answers. When I went to pickup the boat it was ready as promised. They helped me hookup and just could not do enough to make me happy. After I got home I found a small item was missing, one phone call to Richard and it was here the next day. I am in my late 70s and have purchased many boats in my time. This dealership is outstanding and I think Richard Hill does an outstanding job.

I went in with an OLD outboard motor project and got the parts (on order) I needed and other information. Cayden (?) was a big help.

Had two motor swapped between two boats. The Final price was 2 times there original estimate.

I took by boat back there for 4 simple repairs and service (big mistake).
They had it for a month and only said they had completed 2 of 4 tasks.
They lied about having completed one of the repairs and when I showed up to get my boat and do the work myself I found out that the work they claimed to have done was not done yet. I took my boat back and will never go there for service again.

I had bought my $70,000 boat there. This is how the treat there returning customers.

I still had not learned my lesson and went back to get a quote on ordering a 200,000+ dollar boat. The sales person told me that they were not allowed to tell me what options were available for the boat. (the option are listed on the Hewescraft web site)

I will never buy anything from this dealer again and will buy my new boat in Vancouver or Salmon Arm.

Bought a new 25 Alaskan Hewescraft and they will not do the warranty work because I gave them a bad review here.
Love the boat but will never deal with Sherwood again.

I recently bought a Suzuki 2.5 motor off of Sherwood marine and brought it in for its first service the motor required 1/3 lt oil and a about the same gear oil for the first service, much to my amazement that tiny bit of oil cost 24.50 and a whopping $100 to do it the total job cost $145 for less than a liter of oil wow wow wow what a good gig for Sherwood Marine, when I asked why so much the service guy replied well it says Marine on it to which I replied okay $24 for a liter or so of oil no problem $100 to pull the plug ouch and then the gentleman stated that well in the future you could do it yourself as if that's some kind of consolation prize for being ripped off in the first place wow, well now I just found out actually when I bought the motor I was informed never to leave it with gas in it and always run it dry the little jets in this motor are super finicky do not leave gas in it, well I just got the motor back from them gas was left on in the on position and there's gas in the tank so they definitely did not run it dry they did not inform me that I needed to take it home and run it dry just wow thanks guys you guys are absolutely amazing down there
