Shifa Medical Clinic

This clinic seems to be very unorganized with a lack of professionalism. I would reccomend finding another clinic and not dealing with the headache. No one answers the phone for hours

The girls in the front say come in for a walk in then turn you away (or pay a fee? Because you have an Alberta health care card…). Super weird

The girls in the front clearly don’t know how the Canadian health care system works. Glad to have had another doctor see me at another clinic.

It’s not worth even one star! Terrible receptionists! This is a non-trustworthy fly-by-night clinic. Price gouging! We were told different doctors there have different registration fees! What a ridiculously funny excuse!

I have been a patient of Dr Z Akbar for a number of years. I feel she is a great Dr.
I am writing here to warn other patients, not to make telephone appointments!
I had a 10: 50 appointment, have been phoning every hour, only to be informed she is busy!
I do not understand why I was given a specific time. If I miss the call a $50 charge.
In office patients are given a priority! I will not be making a telephone appointment again.

I’m leaving a second review of Shifa Medical, but specifically a complaint regarding Doctor Akbar:

I exhausted my time and options with Doctor Akbar and Shifa. It ended with Doctor Akbar embarrassing me in the lobby of her practice by dumping me as a patient, refusing me further care, and accusing me of not paying for sick notes — though she had never asked my entire family to pay for those prior to this incident, when she used it to belittle me in front of her MOAs. She thoroughly embarrassed me, berated me, and left me with no GP in a seriously vulnerable time for me in regards to my mental health and physical health.

Please, if anybody else has complaints about Doctor Akbar? Speak up. You’re not alone in feeling or being medically neglected by a physician you’re supposed to be able to trust and rely on. I would love to have my voice backed up by everybody else that’s had a poor experience with this doctor.

Nobody never pick up the phone.we have to wait for ever every time we have app.even for phone call appointments u wait for ever and nobody call u.and it does not happen once.

Was able to walk in 2 people infront of me at 9 am for my daughters eye infection.no complaints. Good service

I've been a patient of Dr. Akbar's since she was at Amari Medical clinic and had no issues with her or the MOAs there.

I've been trying to phone the clinic for over 45 mins today. The MOAs haven't answered my calls. I had an appointment yesterday via telephone to get a doctor's note and I was told it would be emailed to me. I tried phoning again at 12: 23pm and got an automated message saying "our phones are turned off for lunch between 12-12: 30pm". Having the entire staff go for lunch at the same time is not an effective way to manage a clinic. I've been having issues with reports being sent to ICBC in a timely manner. I really did not want to write a complaint but this is beyond unacceptable.

Worst clinic I have ever been too. Never picks up the call to book appointments. Don’t reply to emails in timely manner. Somehow if you are lucky to book an appointment never call you on your appointment day, all you are stuck waiting. Useless place. Don’t recommend anyone to visit the place always disappointed. I wish there was 0 star rating.

I wish I could give it less than 3 stars, if I'm being frank. I was a patient of Doctor Akbar at Amari Medical Clinic and the office had a fantastic team of Medical Office Assistants that were polite, concise, and efficient. I didn't have to worry about referrals or prescriptions being faxed over; they did it in a timely manner.

The MOAs at Shifa do not even answer the phone. I've called from both my cellphone and work phone, only to have both on over 10 minute holds with no answer. Doctor Akbar had 2 weeks to complete and return a referral to a sleep apnea clinic, assured me she did so over the phone, and ended our call. I got a text message from the clinic today that they still haven't received this referral, with my appointment being tomorrow. If I don't have it, my appointment will be rescheduled and I will be delayed from life-changing medical care AGAIN because of Shifa Medical. This is unacceptable. Fire your MOAs and get new ones or retrain them; you are running a medical clinic, behave like so.

Worst clinic ever. Been trying to get a hold of the receptionist since 10am, it is now 2: 30 and still haven’t been able to get a hold of anyone. There is no way the clinic is that busy all day for someone not to answer the phone. The girls are very unprofessional, called to get a few follow up questions answered and she didn’t have any answers for me after two days of waiting. This clinic is in major need of new management. The worst I’ve ever seen.

I've been one of Dr Akbar's patients for a couple years now. She has always been very receptive to my concerns and requests. I haven't had any problems at all with the reception staff or paperwork; they are easy to speak with, and have always been able to help me. If I need paperwork for my benefits, I've always been able to get it.

Well run clinic. I see Dr. Akbar and have seen others doctors in the clinic in the past. Very happy with the efficiency and caring demeanor of Dr. Akbar, she doesnt make me feel rushed and makes sure all my needs are taken care of.

Great staff and great doctor - I've continued care from Dr. Akbar's previous office.
The phones are quite busy, however, they offer online booking on their website for family practice patients. I usually use this, as it's more convenient.

Friendly staffs! One of the only clinics here in Morgan area that takes walk-in patients, doesn't need to book appointment online. And they are fast, did't wait long until I was treated.

Worst clinic, I tried to call to book appointment need to wait whole day to reception to pick up call. Administration is really bad. Bad management.

Checked the medmap site before going there and couldn’t be bothered to update that they weren’t accepting walk ins.

I was patient of Dr. Akbar, administration is not doing their job properly. Whenever I tried to book appointments over the phone need to wait hours to talk to them to book appointment. If you booked the appointment then very rear you will get call back from doctor on time, so many times I need to wait for 2 days but still didn't receive call. I call back to ask got reply whenever doctor will free give you call but never got call. Very unprofessional team.

Dr Akbar always addresses my issues on time and never had to wait long to see her. Appointment booking is convenient.

Worst administrative I have ever seen! Emails and DOCTORS NOTE extremely unprofessional. We requested a doctors note and the note that was given to us had multiple spelling and grammatical errors. Very UNPROFESSIONAL. Can't say I'm surprised based on how email correspondence goes. Every single email is sloppy.

I would not recommend this clinic at all due to the lack of professionalism the administrative team is presenting.
