The most authentic, delicious Singaporean food I've had in Greater Vancouver. Portions are standard, very flavorful, and it's all a family run shop. If you're from Toronto, this is like One2Snacks in Scarborough. Been ordering take out from them for the past couple of months and the amazing taste helps with homesickness. Highly reco the curry and rendang puffs, chicken rice, jook, nasi Lemak, chiffon cake (for that afternoon tea), Mee rebus (primary school cafeteria style), and chicken satay.

The owners are so nice to my son who goes there often. The food also tastes really nice. Can't go wrong with anything on this menu

Note: unlike what some other reviews are saying, I got my bill at the end and didn’t have to pay until after I was done eating.

Found this place randomly on a Friday night walk and boy was I pleasantly surprised. The Nasi Lemak and Laksa were amazing, and the service was warm and friendly. They put my leftovers in a takeout container for me (as opposed to just throwing me a box to do it myself) which is a level of service you just don’t see very often in Vancouver. I definitely plan on going back to try out their other dishes!

Definately a better choice than the common options at the food court. I'd try everything on the menu here

Amazing food, incredibly efficient and hospitable service, I wish I lived closer so I could eat here more frequently. SO. GOOD.
27 August 2023 23:19
Authentic Singaporean cuisine at an affordable price. I genuinely felt like I was in Singapore with the food.

The owners are from there, judging from their accents, and were very much interactive with customers and truely making them feel at home. Our first visit but would be back as much as I can when I am in Vancouver.

Thanks for making us feel welcomed and great food.

Comfort food < $15 pp that’s not heavy on the salt. The spicy dishes are about jalapeño level 1 and it’s house made. I prefer the original Hainam chicken. Portions are fair for what they charge. Mom and pop operation. If you are used to heavy cream type curry this ain’t for you. Would visit if I’m in the area.

I lived in Singapore for 6 years and eating at Shiok feels like going back again. In Singapore, I’d go to a hawker center and order all the components of a meal from 4 or 5 different stalls, but somehow this restaurant is able to do good versions of everything all at once.

- The chicken rice has a very subtle and very mild flavor that is on-point and includes great rice and broth.

- The kopi brings me straight back home. I like a kopi-o-kosong or a kopi-c-siew-siew-dai and its great.

- the curry and prata is delicious.

- I love the porridge.

- the to-go packaging is in lovely paper packets that are very Singaporean and easy to bring back home to Victoria, or to a local park.

Shiok really understands which Singaporean foods have very strong flavors (like the coffee) and which have very mild and subtle flavors like the chicken rice and the porridge and is invested in offering authentic tastes. I’m grateful they do that, and so glad they’ve found a market.

I’ve ordered takeout from here (Kingsway) numerous times, it’s consistently delicious. The flavours are intense but not overwhelming. My favourites so far are the Laksa - vermicelli, the Assam Fish, and the Roti Prata. The family who runs it are slammed busy but lovely always. Oh and the takeout packaging is great; minimal, pretty, and mostly compostable paper products, wooden utensils, and the lids are plastic recyclable

There aren't many Singaporean restaurants in Vancouver, so I decided to give it a try based on the high reviews.

My first experience was not good for take out, and the food was cold and no cutlery. I ordered a Laksa Yellow and Rice Noodles, and I arrived at 11: 45am. I could tell the food should be good because the dining room was pretty full, and I could see there were few takeout orders at the bar ready for pickup.

I was shocked when I opened the bag and there was a small soup container that was leaking and solid food was wrapped around it. It was impossible for me to put all the food in the small soup container. Also, they didn’t gave me cutlery, so how could I eat?
They think that I wanna eat the food at home?

I got lucky and found an extra fork from my previous order at another restaurant. I managed to eat as dipping noodle, but it was very unpleasant and inconvenient to eat.

I ordered through their website, and it was very simple and cheaper to order there than Uber Eat. However, I didn't see any option that "Include Utensils", I could say that it comes with it.

I recommend that the restaurant needs to fix that option to prevent any future inconvenience with customers and please change your container.

A great taste of Singaporean cuisine in Vancouver that does not break the bank. Food is served quickly and fresh, priced very reasonably, service is friendly. Plenty of free street parking in front of the store. Highly recommended!

Incredible food, especially the laksa. As a table of four, we shared four mains and a few appetizers. The laksa was unanimously deemed the best.

They do not take reservations but they have quite a bit of seating, so shouldn’t be a problem.
They also ask you to pay up front, which is a bit unconventional, but the service is good, and food is great. Will go back again.

Agree with most previous reviewers but I thought I would provide my context to it all.

Came here on a Saturday with family, we were a party of 4.

I personally did not mind the "pay first, then sit down", but I do agree with others that the menu is hard to read. The menu needs to be larger and more prominent.

When you order and pay for your meal, you do not need to tip if you don't want to. Many of the credit card machines come with that option as a default. If you decide you want to tip afterwards, then leave a cash tip at the end of your meal if you so choose.

We ordered the laksa, hainanese chicken rice, roti, satay, chendol and the pandan cake as recommended from others.

Once we ordered our meal, we sat down and all the food items came within 10 minutes. I do agree that having multiple "1 hour time limit when food arrive" signs are distracting, but I thought there was ample time to eat after the food arrived.

Satay - Portion was a bit small, agree that there could have been more meat on the skewers.
Laksa - Decent portion, but I thought there seemed to be a something lacking in depth of flavour. It was more spicy than flavourful in my opinion. I would prefer the laksa from Singapore Hawker in Coquitlam.
Hainanese Chicken - Rice was delicious! Chicken was good too, but did not come with the sauces (not sure if that was on purpose or not).
Roti - Good as well, it wasn't "fluffy" and cut up as we're used to
Chendol - Unfortunately did not hit the mark for me. Wasn't sure what I was drinking. Disappointed because I love icy desserts.
Pandan cake - Good, flavourful and light.

Overall, it was decent service and the food was good. I don't think its worth the 4.4 stars so far, but a sold high 3s to a 4.
29 December 2022 9:55
Amazing authentic restaurant for those who are homesick for Singapore. They do not put too much sugar nor cook with too much oil or msg unlike other places that have had to adapt their menu to keep up with costs. They have always maintained the traditional tastes for affordable prices. Deserve to eat here multiple times.
29 December 2022 2:37
I don't think there is any better laksa in Vancouver than Shiok Singapore Cuisine. Staff running the place are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Fast service. All around great experience that makes you want to dine.
13 December 2022 9:45
As someone with Singaporean and Malaysian ties (family), this is so authentic and so good! Can't beat the prices either. They're clearly doing this for passion, not profits. Highly recommend!
01 December 2022 14:46
Very pleasant atmosphere and friendly people. However when you ask for yellow noodles they give you spaghetti noodles. The Laksa had spaghetti noodles ‍️ Definitely not the Asian yellow noodles. Maybe they ran out of noodles. Whatever the case I was disappointed.
21 November 2022 16:57
For authentic Singaporean food, no other place better than Shiok. Tried Shiok for the first time today as I read that their Bak Kut Teh was authentic Singaporean style and was not disappointed, enough so that I ordered another one for take-out, best in Vancouver! Also ordered their Prawn Paste Fried Chicken and my friends ordered Laksa, Roti Prata, and Satay Mixed. Interestingly, my dine-in order of Bak Kut Teh didn't have enough soup base for my liking (I love the soup), but I noticed my take-out order had much more soup. Small issue as I certainly have found my go-to for Singaporean food and look forward to returning to try their Chicken Rice, Mee Siam, Nasi Lemak, Nyonya Chicken Curry, and Kaya Puff!
21 November 2022 14:43
I have been patronizing Siok repeatedly since they opened. The food is consistently amazing and authentic. Trust me - I am a Singaporean living in Canada. The owners are so warm, friendly and welcoming. I love their laksa, fish curry special, mee siam, chicken rice, prata and otak. The prices are very reasonable considering the amount of time it takes to prepare the food. Contrary to other reviews, the portion size is generous and it is a good value for the price. Highly recommend!
18 November 2022 23:08
One of the if not the best Singaporean cuisine in Lower Mainland! We ordered the hainanese chicken rice and nasi lemak for the mains. Both dishes are superb, very flavourful and very authentic, especially the chicken rice, really2 similar to what I ate when I was a kid in Singapore.

The snacks are also very good, we ordered 4 dishes, chee kwee (sp?), curry puff, roti prata and chicken wing. Chicken wing needs a little bit salt but the rest of the snacks are very very good, the curry puff is the best in Vancouver, packed with meat, seasoning, egg, and flaky pastries.

For the dessert, we ordered Ice Chendol and Chiffon Pandan cake. The cake is out of this world. Very fragrant, moist, spongy, airy and light. The Chendol also the best in the business. Overall great experience, and The uncle and aunty is very nice and has a great warm smile which reminds me of coming to my grandparents house for food.

Food rating: 4.5/5
Price: 5/5
Parking: 4/5
will come back?: yes definitely
13 November 2022 3:25
I really enjoyed it here. Service was really good and the food was delicious. One thing to note is you order first, pay then you will be seated. Check the hours as they close in the middle of the day. They don't take reservations just FYI (as of this post). There is a decent amount of street parking.
09 November 2022 16:01
We were disappointed in the nasi lemak. The chicken was fine but bland. Rice was way overcooked and mushy. Peanuts were chewy, not fried and crispy. The amount of sambal you get is too small but you can order more. Wish the sambal was spicier. Eggs were coldand the radish cake thing was soggy. We wouldn't return to eat this dish here. We make this regularly at home and will continue to do so.
25 October 2022 10:57
Experience was awkward, menu was printed on a letter size paper stick on the wall, very hard to read. We had to stand and squeeze into the corner to figure out the menu and write down the order ourselves.
We also needed to pay for both food and tips at the counter before we get seated. When the debit machine was handed to us, it already had 15% tips selected, that’s all before any service or food received.
There are multiple signs in the restaurant reminding customers of 1 hour limited dining time, and extra charges for sauces etc. It appeared to us that the owner cared a lot about their rules rather than hospitality.
All the dishes arrived within couple minutes. The laksa was alright, but the rest rice entrees arrived cold. I would appreciate if they would take couple more minutes to heat up the food properly. The coconut rice didn’t have much coconut taste to it. Meat was dry. We ordered hainan chicken with mixed dark/white meat, the pieces didn’t appear to come from a whole chicken, like it was chopped up chicken breast plus a thigh/drumstick. Hence lacking chicken flavour. The shrimps in the laksa were cut in half but presented face down to give an illusion that there were more shrimps. I was shocked, this is the first time that I see shrimps executed this way, tricky.
We ordered 4 dishes for 2 people and left with a half full stomach and disappointment, and had to eat at another restaurant to make it up.
21 July 2022 18:39
I tried a bunch of snacks from Shiok such as the kaya puffs, kaya toast and chicken satays. On a whim, I decided to get the chicken curry puffs. The curry puffs were the best I’ve ever had in my life, including the ones I’ve tried in Singapore. The pastry was buttery. The curry stuffing was plentiful and had a ton of chicken pieces. The curry itself was also perfectly seasoned. Get the chicken curry puffs!
19 July 2022 0:24
One of THE BEST Singaporean food I’ve ever had outside Singapore.
The place is simple and authentic. The owners are really great and kind. They came around to talk to us about different dishes and reminisce about Singapore food courts.

I cannot recommend this place enough. Definitely try their fish curry, Chicken rice and Pulot Hitam.
06 July 2022 8:48
Chances are, you'll meet the owner and feel like you're dining in their home with them. Service and atmosphere are top-notch. Hainan chicken rice delicious. I'm limiting carb intake but found myself inhaling every last grain of rice as it was so tasty. Mee siam another winner with generous portion of shrimp and authentic Singaporean curry on vermicelli.
04 July 2022 3:21
Lovely Singaporean mom n pop restaurant! They even have a special menu on Saturdays I'd highly recommend
21 June 2022 20:20
Laksa was yummy nothing too special tho. It’s spicy tho so I wouldn’t recommend it to people who can’t handle spice. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Roti tho. It’s so so so good! Also when you walk in, due to covid you have to order and pay at the front before you are seated which was a little weird but not a big problem:) friendly service too!
20 June 2022 22:34
Simply amazing! The food is excellent and the staff is very nice! My personal favorite is the fish soup… sooooo good!
09 June 2022 6:43
Needs more murtabak. I know its not their sole duty to satisfy my deranged nostalgic craving for a wholeass cookie sheet of lamb curry pie but sweet'by'golly SOMEOBODY IN VANCOUVER HAS TO HAVE IT!
29 May 2022 7:20
As a local I was very excited to try this place but was very disappointed. Ordered the chicken on rice and beef on rice for take out. Chicken was overcooked and dry. Rice was also over cooked and a very mushy mess. The beef which should be nice and tender was extremely dry like beef jerky. Everything was also wrapped in paper instead of real containers which made it extremely awkward to eat. No cutlery was provided, not even napkins. Portions were also small.
27 May 2022 16:20
Delicious coffee and handcrafted beverages & fresh baked goodies that stack up well to the fancier bakeries. Great vegan and gluten free food options. This location has a bit more of a cozy neighborhood feel, with the same great food and beverages as other locations.
11 May 2022 11:27
Visited the restaurant when there was lots of dine-in restrictions so take-out was the only option. The owner was very helpful in taking our order and everything was ready within 10 mins!

Food were well packed. Both the nasi lemak and laksa ordered tasted very good. The ingredients were fresh and good quality. Wished they would put more sambal for the nasi lemak. Definitely one of the go to place for Malaysian or Singaporean food.
08 May 2022 11:06
I ordered from Ubereats, the Hainanese chicken and it was really dry. I do like the eco friendly take out wrap instead of using plastic containers.

Also the iced kopi was luke warm and had no ice in it.
12 December 2019 9:35
Went for dinner. Small menu for sure but as everything was new to me, that was OK. Appys were inexpensive and good, especially the curry pastry. All the mains had a unique twist on Chinese food. Each of the dishes we tried were a bit spicy. The dishes weren't outstanding in flavour but, overall, they were a pleasant change. I will be back to try other items on their menu.
19 November 2019 21:15
Arguably the restaurant serving the very best Singapore cuisine in Vancouver! I've eaten here on numerous occasions and the food has always been very authentic and good. Noteworthy is the chicken curry with rice, the laksa, and especially the prawn noodle soup. The otak otak apertiser is also worth trying. It's heartening to see such an authentic Singapore restaurant blossoming in Vancouver.
19 November 2019 20:51
Lovely and friendly owners. Delicious food. Great price! Appreciated the eco-friendly take out case!
07 November 2019 9:57
Very good experience, as I was greeted by the owner, a fellow Singaporean!
Tried their Mee Rebus and Iced Coffee. Very authentic and quite a large portion for only $10. Highly recommended and will return again for sure to try out their other dishes.
02 November 2019 3:52
New neighbourhood restaurant on Kingsway with authentic singaporean flavours. The laksa is spot on and so is the Hainanese chicken. Good seating, ambience and feels very "family style". I like the iced coffee variants and cannot wait to be back to give other dishes a try! The deep fried chicken wings are a must!
26 October 2019 5:44
Came here for dinner one evening with friends.

The Family-run restaurant set-up is reminiscent of my street-food experience in Singapore, but of better quality ingredients! You order and pay for your food before finding a seat in their establishment. First-come-first-Serve.

My mum cooks authentic Singaporean food at home, and I know how much time she spends in the kitchen to cook these complex dishes for us. I am so very skeptical of Malaysian and Singaporean food because they never meet my expectations of home. So, when I tried their food, I was absolutely blown away! This place is truly a gem.

They use top-quality ingredients, and spend so much time slicing the toppings to bite sized pieces. The prawns used are so fresh, not ones you buy pre-processed and pre-cooked. They do not skimp on ingredients to cut cost, and at $10 a dish, it is an absolute steal.

I can’t say enough how much I enjoy coming here! I love supporting local businesses. It truly is a piece of home!

Thank you:)
21 October 2019 11:45
After driving by multiple times and many of my friends recommending me this place I decided to have a try. I walked in at 7: 35pm no knowing that they were already closed by the staff were prompt and told us we could still order. I ordered the roti, laksa, and curry. The roti was yummy, light, fluffy and crispy. However the Laksa and the Curry were a bit disappointing. The laksa lacked flavor though it did have lots of toppings and noodle types for me to choose from. The curry was good but again in my opinion, lacked a some flavor; it was also a bit too oily. Overall, it was a decent quick meal and I may give it another try again as I like to give restaurants the benefit of the doubt. This place is a order and seat yourself which I like too.
18 October 2019 9:35
Happy quick lunch. Flavours were a bit milder than expected but easily solved with the powdered chili pepper. Owners sound Singaporean or Malaysian so extra points for authenticity?
14 October 2019 21:03
Heard there was a new Singapore restaurant. My daughter & I checked it out. It is on Kingsway, if you are going westbound, it is passed Victoria Dr, street parking available but limited. Newly decorated with clean & simple decor. You have to order before you find a table. If you have a big group of people, I highly recommend you come early. You have to decide what you want first. You order & pay at the counter, they are friendly & patient. Self serve on your utensils & if you want cold water. Nice touch in adding lemon to the water urn. We ordered chicken rice with a mixed of dark & white meat (no extra charge), they asked what you prefer- dark or white meat. Laksa with white & yellow noodles, the white noodle is your typical “lai fun” that comes with the laksa. The yellow noodles is the fresh egg noodles. We also ordered the chicken wings fried in prawn paste. We ordered curry puffs, mee rebus, pandan chiffon cake, longan jelly & pandan cassava cake for take out.
The chicken rice was flavourful & the chicken rice chilli was spot on. The laksa gravy was thick & good, they serve it in the typical “rooster” bowl, very nostalgic. The laksa is served with laksa leaves, sliced prawns, sliced fish cake & blanched bean sprouts- an enjoyable dish. The fried chicken was piping hot, you can smell a hint of the prawn paste, we enjoyed it very much, $5 got 6 pieces of drumstick & mid wing portion is reasonable. My daughter liked the longan jelly & the pandan chiffon cake was good, worth $3 a slice, light & airy with full of pandan smell & flavour. The pandan cassava cake taste like cassava- I would give it a miss.
My husband loved the mee rebus. All in all, a great new place for Singapore food! Will definitely come back again to try the rest of the mains on the menu.
Please be kind & remove all your dirty dishes into their appropriate buckets for them. Then the next group of patrons can find a table quicker, the staff are quick to quickly clean the table after you clear up your own dirty dishes.
09 October 2019 19:12
Well, I finally tried this place after driving by numerous times on my way home and it didn't really live up to my expectations. I've had really decent Hainanese chicken elsewhere and it's been great. However, when I ordered takeout and ate at home, I was disappointed. The chicken wasn't chopped correctly. It was sliced like deli meat. And it had little to no flavor. I was expecting some ginger-garlic sauce. The rice was average. A little on the hard side or undercooked. Also, would've been nice to have an actual takeout container. The owner may have explained. However, I don't remember.

The crispy deep fried prawn-spiced chicken wings were fried like they wanted to be Salty peppery chicken (Taiwanese style) and the spicy sauce came in a condiment pack.

Overall, the establishment looked decent and there were others eating there. I did see several menu items which the customers had ordered when they came out of the kitchen. They looked alright.

Not sure when I'll be back or if I'll even order takeout again. Nice owner though!
30 September 2019 23:01
This is a new restaurant that opened this year and it was delicious! We tried many of the items on the menu as they were all very reasonably priced. I would recommend the chicken wings and the chicken satay! The soup and cold and hot tea were amazing too. I would definitely come here again and would highly recommend for anyone else!
25 September 2019 19:52
Disappointed. Received slow food service (ordered at 11: 40 and got food 35min later) Feels a bit like airport grade laksa. Also need to put dishes away yourself.
09 September 2019 15:25
As a Singaporean who misses authentic Singaporean food this place hits the sweetest spot. Hard-to-find dishes like mee siam, roti prata were really what I would often eat back at home. Don’t underestimate the simplicity of the mee Siam, that gravy is the hardest to make! The sweet, sour and spicy broth was just like home. Don’t expect table service here, do it like a Singaporean, order from the counter, find your own seat and put the plates to the collection area after! This is the most authentic Singaporean eatery by far and this is where I’m going every time I miss home!
02 September 2019 5:32
Amazing family run Singaporean restaurant serving affordable and delicious food!

We tried the laksa and chicken curry, both of which were very fragrant and yummy. The food is priced so that you can easily combine an entree ($10) with a side for $3-$5; nevertheless, most entrees are quite filling on their own. Also, don’t forget to order a Singaporean coffee, it was so good!
28 August 2019 15:18
The food was not too bad for the price u pay. Getting the food was a bit slow and limited seat capacity.
18 August 2019 16:23
We had the beef rendang, the laksa, roti, and Kopi ice coffee. Food was good, although the beef rendang was surprisingly small portions IMO. You order and find seat, and they deliver the food to your table. The restaurant was clean and tidy, and staff was friendly. I would come again, but for sure not the beef rendang
12 August 2019 12:27
As a South East Asian, I was looking forward to having a good hearty curry chicken meal tonight. Overall, I think I had a 3/5 average meal.

The Nyonya Curry Chicken is quite on the watery side. Presentation could be much better rather than simply a drumstick with a potato in a bowl. The curry taste was bland as if there was no coconut or no spice. I was expecting something more rich or much more flavorful if coconut was not part of the ingredient. The dish also came out at room temperature. The best way to taste curry is piping hot. This one I think they would need some improvements.

The satay - we didnt even finish this dish. The peanut sauce had no aroma to it. As it was really not peanut sauce. The peanut sauce is what give the satay the flavor. The meat -there were not properly cooked or satayed. Satay should be spicy, somewhat brushed with oil during grilling, charcoalic color.full of aroma. But these skewers were bland and lack of love.

The Roti is a good size portion. Just a touch too burnt for my liking. This is just my personal preference. It was good with the curry sauce.

We also ordered beef rendang. The rice was too dried. Beef was sambal-like. Flavor was good. Definitely can be more saucey. And this also came out on room temperature side.

To cook a hearty Malaysian or Singaporean meal, the chef/cook must cook with true authenticity, love, and with the freshest ingredients. I believe the owners have every intention to make this restaurant a success. They are fine with the store front. But a chef that cooks with his/her heart and put love in his/her food is what makes lasting impression for your customers.
07 August 2019 10:03
I think it is definitely hard to find good Singaporean food in Vancouver in general. However, my fiancé and I were quite disappointed with the food. We would prefer going to hawker delight or cafe city one for better quality and at a cheaper price.

We ordered banduang and kopi c (beng) which started off quite well. The roti prata tasted more like Chinese fried pancake (葱油饼) instead of the needed crisp and softness. The curry was very diluted and filled with more coconut then needed. Chicken rice (boneless) was hands down below average as the rice is hard and does not have the flavor it should have. The chicken was bland and few in quantity. The chilli was not spicy at all. However, Mee Siam was pretty decent combination of sweet and spicy.
06 August 2019 16:23
The only thing I can say is the two gentleman at the front were friendly. There were only four main dishes, and two appetizer available, and we had ordered five out of six. I asked for dark meat for the Hainanese chicken, we got white meat. And there were only four really really small pcs of Hainanese chicken. The noodle dishes was so little that it has less than one bowl of noodles. The curry chicken only has two pcs of chicken and half a potatoes which was ok, but unfortunately the curry is the same curry that served with the pancake appetizer. And the chicken wings was crispy but tasteless. The fish skin and satay that I came for is unavailable. The kopi coffee was ok. We were still hungry after we finished the lunch. The bill came to $45 for the four of us. And we have to clean our own dishes, while the two friendly gentleman standing right by the counter watching us clearing the dishes. I forgot to take some pictures, our food look nothing like the one posted.
30 July 2019 15:44
The WORST restaurant in Vancouver,do not have basic dinnerware and packed lunch box?!Close ur restaurant please! One star is too much for here!DONT COME!
29 July 2019 7:50
I almost want to cry when I taste the mee Siam, it’s so good and authentic, just like what you have in Singapore! Really nice owner too! Kopi is so good too.love all the food here. Highly recommend! Hope they will keep the food as authentic as possible.
28 July 2019 13:46
The new Singaporean restaurant overall rating from me is only average.

The portion of the food is rather small for example Laksa $10,1 piece of Roti Prata without egg costs $5 and others as well.

They need to improve their cooking, for example take learning courses in Singapore from the chefs to improve their food cooking.

I will not return again unless their improve the food cooking and be more flexible with the food portion and price.
25 July 2019 10:37
Second time I’ve been there, first on their soft opening & yesterday. Great experience on both times!
Had the chicken curry, laksa, beef rendang, chicken rice, curry puff, wings, rice dumplings! They were all awesome! Hopefully to see more speciality from home!
Hopefully nasi lemak next?
Lastly, great family run restaurant! Aunty and uncle seems to love what they are doing!
God bless
23 July 2019 23:21
Good Singaporean restaurant, Nice ambience, clean. Don’t miss Roti Canai and Laksa. Very reasonable prices. Tried Satay, beef rendang, Chicken rice and everything is tasty.
23 July 2019 11:18
Soft opening was pretty busy. Food was tasty and prices are good.
Check your time when you go as it was a wait due to the opening, will probably normalize soon.
21 July 2019 1:31
Wait time is a bit long.we waited almost 30mins for our first dish. But it's expected as it's a food court concept.where u order the food first, then wait for an empty table. You are supposed to clear your own table when done, which is understandable cos it's a food court concept. Food is delicious enough to have people come back for more, despite the unconventional approach as a restaurant. Price is reasonable too for Singaporean food in Vancouver (similar drinks elsewhere is about double the price, and food would be about 30-40% more elsewhere). Opening hours are 11: 30am-2: 30pm; then again 4: 30-7: 30pm. Closed Monday and Sunday.
15 July 2019 1:29
Super excited to see this Singaporean restaurant open in the neighbourhood on Kingsway. There is ample free parking around the restaurant.

The process is that you order, pay for your food at the front counter, get your own utensils, and grab a seat to wait for the food to be brought out to the table.

We tried the chicken skewers, boneless chicken rice and Laksa. The chicken portions on the skewer were on the small side but it could be that I was really hungry and the peanut sauce was very tasty.

For the boneless chicken on rice, I found the white meat of the chicken was really bland and dry. The preparation seemed to be different from the typical Hainan Chicken as it is their own traditional recipe. We let the server know and the owner was kind enough to replace it with dark meat, which was much juicier. The rice and sauce was the best part of the meal.

As this was the soft opening period, I am sure things will be further refined and pick up for this family run business.

I had walked past this place many times, finally catching it when it was open rather then early in the morning. I had my hopes up for the Lak sa as it looked amazing. To my dismay they have a type of nut that is commonly used in most dishes.my hopes and dreams where shattered. I stood at the front desk running through my list of allergies, and was just about to leave. The staff at the front desk Looked through the menu to accomodate with my allergies. He mentioned the few things i could eat but I was very impressed. After almost having all hopes lost they where kind enough to take the time to look through the options for me. Alas i had gotten the beef randang and took it home, upon opening the small package it was a decent size and full of flavor.it tasted like a more spic and herb style curry beef brisket and it was great. Thank you for everything you took the time to do for me, as well as the amazing food. And also incredibly lovely venue inside decor is a beautiful wood look on alot of the space.

It’s a small family well run restaurant.
Fresh cook daily.thus flavour and taste is totally amazing unlike most restaurants it’s prepared and kept in the fridge! Thus they cook daily a small portion and sell until out of their daily stock.

Be forewarned to see a “closed sign” on their front glass entrance door.
This is the best way to have eat food cooked small portion daily. We love this concept!

Keep up your serving fresh foods daily.
Oh we love and tried their Hainanese Chicken Rice, Laksa and Roti Cani.amazing freshness and excellent meal with my family on their soft opening day May 31,2019 and back again on the second day for lunch!
