Ramen is pretty decent, and the staff is very courteous and kind; service is always excellent!

Has always been a solid ramen place. Been here the past few years and has stayed my favorite in the tri-cities area

Our favourite ramen shop in the area. Great price and portion size. Staff are extremely friendly and wait time is never too long.

For 2 smaller adults, we typically order one ramen and 1-2 side dishes.

I really like it, everything was so delicious and polite, atmosphere is also great, maybe it would be better if the music helped immerse yourself in the atmosphere, something thematic and atmospheric, but this is not so critical, I’m still happy with everything and can truly suggest this place!

Sho Bu is located inside Henderson mall. The server was extremely friendly and we got seated right away. After placing our order, it only took 5 minutes for our ramen to come out. I love how fast the service was.

I ordered the Karaage Ramen and it was super delicious. I also really enjoyed the flavor of the broth. One thing I do wish was different was that the noodles were a bit soft and I prefer them to be a little more firm. Other than that everything was fantastic! Definitely will return when I’m back in the area.

My son told me about this place and did not disappoint. Awesome Ramen. We are even going back for his birthday!

A little cramped for space, but the ramen is pretty good! Their pricing is fantastic, considering that most of the ramen contains the egg too, so no extra fee is needed. We got their takoyaki too, which is also great. I highly recommend their shoyu ramen:)

Amazing ramen! Hidden Gem that you shouldn’t sleep on. Small restaurant but they move to fast and the food is hot and fresh with the quickest service! Best ramen in the Tri Cities by far, highly recommend!

This place is absolutely amazing, the ramen is so good is bazonkers. Service is good, and the setup of the restaurant is so nice.

Better than any other place in Coquitlam in my opinion. I've tried everywhere else, and this place has great broth, great noodles, and plentiful toppings. Only thing I'd say needs a bit of improvement is the kakuni meat, just a little too chewy and tough.otherwise tastes amazing.

Favourite restaurant, I absolutely could not recommend it more. The staff are always so incredibly friendly, my friend and I go there at least once a week and they always remember us.

The pricing is great for the amount of food you get. No other place could $17 get me such a good, filling meal. Personal favourite is the chicken karaage, spice level 4 (rich broth). Every time I'm blown away by how fast the service is. You order your food, and 5 minutes later it's in front of you, piping hot.

It's a very charming restaurant. The decor is nice without trying to hard, the food is great, the service is wonderful. I recommend Sho Bu to anyone looking for a bite to eat in Coquitlam.

They ask how spicy you want it and always make mine spicier, maybe they are telling me to build up my tolerance ;)

Always nice to go here. It's busy and sometimes you have to wait but it's worth it for the food and staff.

The portion size was good.

We were under too much of a time crunch to try and get things corrected but the chashu in both the karashi and kakuni ramen were too hard/stale.

We had also come in expecting to be able to order tsukemen but it had been struck from the menu.

I feel love here. Customer service done right. Affordable Ramen. Satisfied in one bowl. I was not able to finish my usual extra soup.

Decently priced, quickly made ramen and soups. Quick service and conveniently placed near Coquitlam centre. Small and cozy place for eat-in. Their wonton soup was the only ramen that didn't make me feel sick while pregnant!

I ordered a simple shoyu ramen with extra chasu. In general, I loved the taste - though it was a bit salty, but I should have expected that from "Shoyu" ramen. The servers were very nice and the restaurant had a good vibe. I will definitely go back to this place when I want ramen in the future.

Hands down my absolute favorite Ramen place. Great service, delicious food, and quaint atmosphere.

I went here so many times. Actually good service! But a little disappointed this time. I ordered this ramen, but the cha shu was not fresh, smelled wired, tasted a little sour! The waiter changed two new chashu for me, that’s fresh.tasted good. I don’t know why applying different quality cha shu to the costumer. Even no apologize. Won’t wanna come again!

Great little Ramen place in the burbs (Coquitlam.) Generally all the best Ramen places are downtown but it's nice to have a solid choice closer to where we live. Yeah, the noodles could be thicker and firmer, yeah the broth could be a little more nuanced in flavor as it is at Kintaro Ramen downtown and the other Ramen place a few doors down from it. But gosh darn it, it's a solid bowl of Ramen still. The gyozas were perfect, nice and crispy with beautiful garlicky meat goodness inside. The service though. I would give them 10 stars for that separately if I could. Super friendly and attentive but not too attentive. Great choice for Ramen in the burbs!

Personally I think this is the best ramen place in Coquitlam area. During the pandemic they've changed owner and they were kind of off on their broth base. But after a while they catch up the the standard I was used to.
Their service is always good and staff are very friendly. The prices are getting higher than before, but still this is a good place to go if you like a bowl of tasty ramen.

Son wanted Ramen for dinner after volleyball practice and we had to wait for our daughter to finish her practice nearby so we found this small place. Decent portion size and they have quite a few choices. You can have it spicy or not, the one in the photos is a 2, scale is from 1-5, it wasn't overly spicy but enough for a runny nose. Not the most flavourful but not bad because I drank up all the soup. The bowls are deep so there was more noodles that I first expected. I would go back again if we needed to grab a bite while in the area for Ramen.

I have been to sho bu twice. I have loved it both times!
First time I had karaage (chicken) ramen and second time I had sapporo miso ramen. Both are excellent! I had level 2 out of 5 spicy and it was perfect. Spicy enough, but manageable. My sister had the cha-shu ramen and enjoyed it.

My favorite ramen place, with friendly staff and good food. Sometimes they play some nightclub music which I wouldn't say it exactly fits the ramen stand atmosphere, but I'm sure there are patrons that like it.

Tasty ramen, the broth is rich and not too salty. The pork is flavourful not skimpy. Recommended!

Vaccine passport and id checked. The food was tasty, but the portion could be too small for people with medium-large appetites. The service isn’t the fastest but I would recommend for anyone looking for some good ramen.

Order a ramen and pork belly combo. And the pork belly is so awesome! It is a big surprise! Will come back again for full portion of pork belly! Yummy

My first visit to a Japanese restaurant and what a pleasant experience. Friendly staff in cozy surroundings.
I opted for the Tokyo don Curry and it was delicious. Will return for sure.

Great broth, noodles, and filling, and they cater to lovers of spice/heat in their noodles! I've never been Japan, but I get what I think of the feel of a genuine ramen shop there. Mmmm!

Found this gem on a whim. Easily one of the best ramen places in the coquitlam centre area. I'd recommend the spicy beef ramen.

The restaurant look nice and cozy but they give you reusable chopsticks and really thin tissues.
I ordered shobu ramen spice level 3. It's not spicy att all and is kinda whatever? The karaage and pork is fine but noodles and soup base is unremarkable. Takoyaki here also lacks sauce.

First time here, I was very impressed. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Broth was amazing. Got the Cha-su and takoyaki. Will definitely return.

Great tasting ramen, that gives you the option of getting a "rich" broth for any of them. Kind staff and yummy food. The ramen was packed with LOADS of noodles, I wish they gave more soup to noodle ratio but with a full belly, it's hard to complain. I would recommend this place for any noodle enthusiast.

Good portions, and easy to order online. They are especially great for vegetarians, generous vegetable portions. Parking: street parking or parking lot at henderson mall.
Note: they are more Korean style ramen, so it's a bit different from Japanese ramen style and broth. But still good.

Used Uber eats to order at noon today for a scheduled pick up at 6: 30 pm for dinner. 30 mins before the pick up I get a notification that it was not accepted. I called the restaurant to ask why it was not accepted and the girl that picked up the phone said this restaurant was set up on Uber eats from the old owner but they have a new owner and they don’t have the system set up. They did not offer to honour my order even though I called directly to the restaurant. I had planned since noon to have dinner from this place as I have a young child and no time to plan for dinner sometimes. Now I have to think of a last minute back up. This is so inconvenient for me and my family. I wish I could give 0 stars because I did not even get the chance to try the food. Hey new owner: If this continues you will lose a lot more business during this pandemic if you don’t appreciate business from local customers. I will also be contacting Uber eats to report this restaurant. They should be removed if they cannot fulfill orders.

We came in at 2pm for lunch with my two kids, wasn't the busy time and the server told me each of us need to make the order, I got one only 3 and another is G1 child, I said we will make the order for two for sure, but can't make the 3y old finished one order.she said we must make the order for each of us that's the policy? People who complain about the staff. I've never had an issue. Staff have always been awesome and food is always amazing.

This place was a lot more worth it before they marked prices up by $3 with no noticeable improvements to food or service

My son and I go there at least once a month. I love the curry chicken ramen and get some extra noodles on the side. It's very filling for my big appetite! Affordable, quick and tasty!

The taste was ok, but I didn't find it super authentic and the soup flavour wasn't rich and bold. It is like a sauna in there! I guess it's like that with a lot of ramen shops since they cook noodles in steaming hot water.

If you have been thinking about it then get off the fence and go get a bowl of ramen curry with chicken cutlet. My favorite! Not spicey just right for my 67 year old round eye system.

Used to come here every week with my roommate. Always phenomenal food. They really know how to do the Shio broth thing. They keep it nice and toasty in the winter, maybe just don't sit by the door.

This is by far the best ramen place I’ve been to! I literally drive from Maple Ridge just to get a taste of that sweet sweet KAKUNI ramen omg. Decadent, succulent, melt in your mouth SO GOOD. And ppl complaining about the waitresses idk what you smokin I’m always greeted with smiles and great service. Food is always quick and full of flavour. I’ve been to many places in Van that don’t even come close. I know they are getting a new menu soon I just hope they don’t remove the KAKUNI

I only leave 5's or 1's. Nothing else is worth talking about.

Tell your friends about Shobu so they finally open a bigger location and you don't have to wait half an hour for a table.

I arrived at this place with my two little daughters and two adults. We ordered 4 ramen dishes planning to share 1 of them between the two girls. Upon taking our order, the server immediately mentioned about a policy where each guest must order a dish over $10. She asked us to order another dish and even had the audacity to recommend us to order a dish for take out. I told her that the dish will be shared between two children and we've never had this problem on our previous visits. She emphasized again that it was their policy at which point I asked to speak to the manager. The manager never even bothered to show up at our table but the server returned taking our original order rather than mentioning about the ridiculous and outrageous policy.

Food was ok but I've been to this place before and it was much better although it was few months back. I noticed change in staff as it used to be an older Japanese lady that used to be the main server.

I am sure people who give this place 5 stars, never tried real good authentic Japanese ramen before.

Not only they force the customers order 1 dish per person which has to be over $10, even to children in the table, their broth, noodle, toppings, everything is very low quality.

Their noodle is like Chinese instant chowmen which you can get it from T&T

And the most funny thing about this place is, it is run by Korean (the reason why this place can’t be authentic) but faking the customers by greeted them speaking in Japanese: D

Terrible service that has prompted us to never return. We had the same server every time we dined here (young, Korean and round faced girl) and she gives off very disingenous and rude vibes. We only put up with it because we enjoyed the food but today we couldn't even finish our food due to the service. I was in the middle of eating my ramen when she slams the bill in front of my face. Yes, I understand that there's somebody waiting for our table (we had been dining for about 15 mins) but she could have at least asked if we were ready to pay. She shot us a blank face when we tipped 18% even though we shouldn't have even tipped at all. Entire dining experience ruined. As a server myself, I know that it doesn't take much to show at least SOME kindness to your customers.

Aside from that, the ramen was good on previous occasions, but the last two times, the pork has been extremely tough and dry. Hit or miss. They also really skimp out on toppings but you can add extra for 50 cents.

Heads up, you'll feel extremely sick and bloated after eating this ramen.

Hidden gem in Coquitlam. Place is very small. We waited 25mins for a table of 3 on Sunday. I think they have different menus through out the week because it says "Sunday menu" that day and my friend said the price seems cheaper on weekdays. Portion is big with decent amount of noodle. My favourite is the curry pork/chicken cutlet ramen.

Ramen tastes above average. Customer service is average. There is not much room here to accommodate big group of customers. Be prepared to feel cramped when it gets busy.

Avoid coming here if you have children. When I arrived, the waitresses wouldn't give us a table of 4, as she said "those tables are for full grown people". She wanted to give me a small table for 2 for myself, my husband and my toddler girl in a booster seat. If this was a busy night I would had understand, but the night we went, the place was basically empty. I of course refused and said ask how is my child going to eat, there is no room on the table for her to sit or eat, she isn't full grown, but she's still a human! This should had been my sign to leave the restaurant.

When we placed the order, we ordered the bigger size ramen bowls as my husband and I can share with our daughter, waitress later told us we need to order more cause we have 3 people and we only ordered 2 bowls. Okay, so you didn't want to give us a bigger table cause my daughter wasn't a "full grown people" but you want her to order like one? ! There was a table next to us that arrived later than us also having the same issue with the waitresses. They ended up leaving, Which is what I should have done. Just ridiculous service.

As for the food: it was okay. Nothing special. Wouldn't come back here again though.

I love me a good bowl of ramen and this place hits the spot! Got the vegetarian choice, extra garlic, medium spicyBroth was flavourful and nicely spicy, noodles we're the thin crinkly egg style (with a hearty quantity), loaded with veggies (onion, broccoli, corn, bean sprouts, carrots and spinach) and some kimchi too. To add to how great this place is, most bowls of ramen are under $10: so it's delicious and reasonable too! Be prepared to wait a bit tho if during meal times cuz they have a small space. Keep it up Sho Bu!

Good selection of quick, comfort food mostly under $10 per dish. These guys are known for ramen noodles. Cheap, fast service, large portions. Good enough for a lunch. The restaurant is quite small and looks like it seats no more than 20 people at one time. They do have fast service so the turn over is pretty fast.

The place is filthy and disgusting. The service is the worst I have ever experienced. The food isn't good, I can cook a better bowl of noodles at home. If I can give this place negative star I would give it NEGATIVE 10/10.

One of the better tasting ramen places. The place is small with only about 6 tables so be prepared to wait up to an hour or more during peak time. That's the only drawback. Food itself is fresh and flavorful. A good selection of different ramen toppings and soup flavors.

I don't understand the 5-star reviews about this place as both of my experiences here are extremely mediocre.
This is a Korean-run ramen joint and their ramen selections are broad with tonkotsu, shio, and miso options. However, the noodles and broth tasted like the instant stuff you get at T&T that you can whip up in 10 minutes. The tsukemen sauce tasted like a spicy miso broth and it had a watery consistency. Tsukemen sauce should be thick and concentrated in taste but it tasted and looked no different than ramen broth. Spice level 2 was sweaty spicy unlike how other reviewers mention that the spiciness is lower than expected. The server forgot the complimentary salad and soy sauce for the sushi which she apologized for. But later, she was rushing with the bill even though the place was half empty.
I'm also disappointed that this is the only ramen place within a walking distance from the mall. The Metro Vancouver ramen scene is so developed with authentic options but Coquitlam is still lacking; would go to Honjin or even Hachi in New West next time for my cravings.
