Shoppers Drug Mart

My experience with this pharmacy has been horrible, unprofessional and disgusting. Over the past several weeks, they have lost 2 prescriptions for my child. They have blamed the doctor's offices. The doctor then called the pharmacy personally, relayed the information to us and when we asked today to have the prescription, they said there wasn't a call. No one at the pharmacy will take any accountability for the lost faxes or acknowledge the phone call. There doesn't appear to be any tracking system and all blame has been put on the patient and dr.office. I would give it a zero star however that is not possible.

Borderline unethical behaviour at the pharmacy, the receptionist who I was speaking over the phone with sounded very agitated and she proceeded to lie about the pharmacy not being able to make out going calls to another pharmacy in order to relay prescription information.

The pharmacy does not provide me medications in advance and forces continuous refills even though my doctor has specifically asked them to not do so. On a specific occasion, they denied a refill to me saying it is not scheduled until weeks later at which point I will be informed when it is ready. They of course did not inform me of anything, so when I went to pick up the medication myself after the previous dose was over, I was bluntly told that they can't give me the medication right away since I need to inform them in advance, even when they have had my prescription for over a month! And thus forcing a gap in my medication! Absolutely, absolutely pathetic!

Extremely judgemental to people taking adhd medication or otherwise controlled substances.i have been prescribed this medication since 6 y/o and have never been judged or questioned the way I have at this specific shoppers.they mess up my prescription nearly every single time, whether it’s the fax or the insurance, nothing ever seems to be working.because of their failure to receive the fax from my doctors office (twice) i have had to take gaps in my medication that i have never in my life had to take previously.i absolutely hate having to deal with my medications here and i would not recommend this shoppers to anyone.

I've had mixed experiences here, but as someone navigating new medication with a new pharmacy, trying to get it through this one was a nightmare. Most of the pharmacists are lovely, but there's one guy there who was just so so unhelpful and did not listen at all, giving me advice that doesn't even apply to the medication I'm on. BC health care honestly just sucks right now

I've had nothing but good experiences with this pharmacy. The staff are very professional and straight to the point. It's super easy filling your prescription over the phone and they respect privacy way more than other pharmacies at UBC. I've been able to fax a prescription and have it ready by the time I arrive to pick it up.

Terrible pharmacy. The pharmacist is rude and dismissive of any concerns. Apparently they are "backed up" so I cannot get my prescription filled until next week. Did not suggest any alternatives and was very rude.

Shame on you Benny Sio for judging others for their medications. Check yourself next time you have the audacity.

I've gone in multiple times for my flu shots and medication and the pharmacists were really friendly and professional.

Shoppers is a shoppers. BUT if the store makes a flu shot appointment, then runs out of doses - then please make an effort to cancel the appointment! I hate my time being wasted!

I would give zero star if I could.
This pharmacy is horrible. Unprofessional staff who do not care AT ALL about the patients and customers. Rudely, they would leave the counter. Let me put it in this way, their incompetence is mind blowing. We waited over a week to get a medicine related to cancer, and when we were there, they asked for an ID card with photo. I said I have it, but then the woman left the counter, didn't listen or bother seeing my ID. I think there was a degree of racism involved in her behaviour.

This Shoppers is not trans accepting. The pharmacist openly questioned whether I should have the prescription that was obviously prescribed to me due to my perceived gender, forcing me to out myself. A friend of mine had a similar experience trying to pick up a Sharps container. Highly recommend trying the IDA pharmacy right down the street.

Recently visited the store and Benny, the Pharmacist was super helpful and friendly. He listened to my needs and provide appropriate suggestions. I highly recommend this pharmacy to anyone who are in the UBC area.

Excellent staff and service. Pharmacist B. Sio has been very helpful every time I had any questions about any prescribed or over-the-counter medication. He’s informative, patience, and professional. I’ve received great advice from him and I highly recommend to look for him whenever you are at his store. Thank you!

Had a flu shot booked at the pharmacy. Showed up on time with 4 people in line waiting, including an older lady for walk in vaccine shot. After at least waiting 10 minutes in line, it was my turn. The pharmacist told me if I am here for a Covid or flu shot - answered that I had an appointment for my flu shot.
He then told me that he RAN OUT of flu vaccine and added in a rude tone that I could try again for a walk in 2 to 3 days. I was astonished and perplex and tried to get an answer WHY the Pharmacy does not have vaccine ready for people with appointments but obviously have some left for walk-in's. Super disappointing. Avoid at all costs and go somewhere else even if you have you travel.

Went for a COVID shot today, made an appointment and showed up 10 minutes early only to find a backlog of 15 people in line. Talked to other people and it turns out they were double/triple and even quadruple booking people into the same time slots. Had to spend 45 minutes in there for something that only took 90 seconds.

If this is what my taxes are paying for then I want a refund directly from Shoppers. What a joke.

Avoid at all costs.

It’s very small and not a lot of options, I usually cannot find what I need here. They have a good variety of sweets like chocolate and candy. But there are very few people.

It's well known that this campus pharmacy is transphobic. They will try their hardest not to give you your hrt prescription and once you finally get it they insist on fear mongering and going over side effects such as s**cide. It's ridiculous. This happened to me and to other students. If you've also had an experience like this post it to help others stay away.

I was worried I had Covid but Ryan in the pharmacy provided me with a rapid test and walked me through on how to use as I was unsure. Luckily my results were negative and he was able to recommend a cold medication which helped me sleep at night.

WOW. I have never encountered such a nasty pharmacist! The rest of the reviews are spot on! I called because I have COVID and was on instacart putting in a delivery order for some cold medicine. I didn't see the one I needed so I called to inquire. I explained to them that I had COVID and was visiting from out of the country and trying to figure out how to get some medicine without exposing anyone and would really appreciate their help. They said "we don't deliver" and hung up on me! I called back to see if other stores delivered and how I could send a roommate to get the stuff etc and they hung up on me again. These people are truly, truly heartless.

Excellent staff, but arrogant pharmacy manager that did not show any respect and know nothing about customer services. I went there when it was close to their closing time, the pharmacy manager talked to me with no patience at all.

I've not seen that much unprofessional and rude staff in any pharmacy. I visited this place on Wednesday evening 25 May for a prescription. The guy got my prescription and asked me to come back to pharmacy 45 minutes later. This was surprising. I should get out of the store, chill, and then come back in 45 minutes. What the hell! But, this wasn't the end of the story. I came back in 45 min. He rudely told me that "I checked the system and realized you have enough medications, lets get back once your previous medications are finished as they might expire". This is funny because he kept my prescription and expected me to come back in one month to get my medication. Then I requested him to give back my prescription. At first he came up with a none-sense excuse "you can go and you can call us back in one month and we will give it to you right away". I rejected his suggestion so he was supposed to give back my doctor's note. The most surprising thing was that he again asked me to wait! It took around 15 mins until he give back me an unsatisfied prescription which is mine. My impression was that I had to spend 1 hour in this **** place for literally nothing.

**UPDATE**

Today I visited this pharmacy again and they were so friendly and nice, but still asked me to go and come back later. Because of their progress, I decided to increase the stars from 1 to 3. I'll be happy to increase it more later if they really satisfy prescriptions on-time.

Great experience! I recently got COVID and needed some cold medications to get me through it. I called the pharmacy and they recommended the perfect medications which made me feel better instantly. I got my friend to pick them up and the pharmacist even helped her find them. Also, a great one stop shop and we were able to grab a few other items we needed for the house! Staff was super polite and the store was very organized!
