Great place for kids.had great time at the beach.bring bikes, paddle board or kayaking.very safe. Good to go hang out have fun with kids. I suggest to bring bikes.
I would definitely call this a "flagship" provincial campground. Very well maintained, shower facilities, flush toilets and lots of places for the kids to go adventuring. The beach and swimming area are large enough to accommodate crowds but still feels like you have your own space. We were lucky enough to catch a cancellation this summer but will plan ahead to go again next summer.
Park is very well set up with lots of privacy between sites. Only thing to improve would be bathrooms need to be cleaned as lots of spider webs and bugs.
Great provincial camping. Large campsites 300 meters from the lake. Clean bathrooms but a little older. The beach is very large so there is a lot of room to spread out.
Nice campground but we found out this morning it is a common occurrence for coolers to be stolen in the middle of the night. We locked up any expensive things but didn't know cooler theft was a problem. We wish the park would warn campers as this happens often. So here is my warning to future campers here: Lock up everything, even your cooler, especially your cooler!
Large beach that includes a dog beach, bike park, canoe/sup rentals, icecream truck and nature house store clean showers with hot water, clean bathrooms between every lane, garbage and recycling and water taps in key locations.
Walking trails around the park that usually include seeing the local deer population.
The staff are friendly, keeping the park welcoming and safe.
Most sites are large and private, with many mature trees all around.
There is usually a campfire ban starting in August, so bring your propane fire pit which is allowed.
Quiet time is 10pm-8am. Generator hours are 9am-11am and 6pm-8pm.
Reservations are hard to get, but you can check daily first thing in the morning for cancellations. With 330 sites, there is always someone cancelling.
Nice park on the Shuswap. Beaches are lovely except the dog beach which is quite rocky. Very large park and some sites have 30 Amp power.sites are large and fairly private.
It’s beautiful. There’s lots to do, and the park, lake, and campsite areas and space are great. This year and in 2020, we camped when there had been no mosquito control undertaken in the park. In 2020, we (and others) were literally running through some areas of the park the mosquitos were so bad; all of us were covered in bites despite using various repellents on ourselves, and around the campsite. This year we had a few days that weren’t too bad before the majority hatched. We likely will not go back if there is no mosquito control implemented. This year we also noticed maintenance in the park slipping; ie shower buildings and plumbing all appear to need attention, as well as general upkeep appear to be sliding.
One thing - LOTS OF MOSQUITOES! We survived only one night, it is impossible to relax and enjoy camping because mosquitoes eat you every minute. Even at the lake they are very bad, so you need to be under water or far from shore. We will never come back to this campsite.
We love this campground and the private sites. Only downfall is the thieves! Lock up Everything! Cooler's contents are stole nightly from different sites, If your boat is parked there, thieves help themselves to the contents, neighbors even had their kayaks stolen. Definitely should be warning campers when they check in!
But campground itself is definitely one of the nicest in BC!
We go every year or we at least try. Love Shuswap, but this year wasn't so great. The mosquitos were so bad we couldn't get out of our tent. We decided to go swimming well that was the worse part of our trip. Lake had swimmers itch. Not just us, but many people and kids were complaining about the swimmer's itch. No signs were placed at the Lake to warn us. This wasn't fair to everyone that was camping with kids or to everyone camping. What a waste of a holiday. We will now find a new camping spot next year.
Anglemont is an awesome place, can't wait to move here full time, on second thought stay away I like the peacefulness and privacy Lol, great little trails to adventure on
One of our favorite campgrounds. It is LARGE and paved so great to ride bikes, rollerblade etc. Lots of great campsites that are private with lots of trees and shade. The beach is busy but the lake of course is still great. We did have all of our booze stolen from our cooler one night so be aware of possible theft and put your stuff away at night or when you are away from the campground. Mosquitos can be bad some years more than others depending on if they spray or not. There is a candy store, multiple parks and a bike park for the kids so they are always entertained. Never had issues with staff and the bathrooms are fabulous. Will come here year after year for sure!
Great campground. Tons of biking trails and beautiful beach. The far end by the boat launch has a off leash dog park. Does have a few site with just electricity. Been coming here since the late 80s
Nice place, lots of bathrooms. Bring your bikes. Lots of dogs but they arent allowed on the beach or beach trails. Nice tree density. A little bit more expensive bit worth it in my opinion.
First time going to this campsite with my family. I highly recommend. Super clean showers and toilets. Very safe campsite, they even have security running till 2am. Don’t need to worry about theft. I will totally come back to this campsite again.
Lots of privacy compare to other campgrounds. A lot of high trees provide perfect shape. The beach and the lake are perfect! Not many RV hook-ups, only few have 30amp connections. Dump station not free.
Great family spot. You really feel like you're in a different part of the world. Very clean and well cared for facilities. The beach is rocky, bring flip flops.
Great place for a day at the beach. Lots of room when we visited. Very nice public restrooms and there are some very nice shops within walking distance. It is also very good for overnight camping you just need to reserve a campsite quite a ways in advance.
A very large but very family oriented campground. Despite its size, it is usually pretty quiet. The only drawback is their non-flush toilets - they are literally swarming with flies. A sign asking campers to close the lid and a strip or two of flypaper and the problem would be greatly reduced. Overall, though, a great park with a great dog beach.
Kids loved this campground. Bike park is amazing.very crowded around that area tho. Best to camp a bit away from it. Rained the whole time so didn't get to enjoy the beach.
A beautiful campground with easy access to the lake. Spacious sites, clean facilities. Was nice and quiet when we stayed. I love the clear waters of shushwap lake.
First camping trip of the season. Beautiful HOT weather, super busy beach, lots of boats, kayaks and floaties on the water. Camp sites are well maintained and the staff was super nice to deal with. Bathrooms are clean and there is water stations and garbage/recycling cans in every lane.
Wonderful, affordable provincial camping. Be sure to bring a bike or other mode of transportation, as you will otherwise do a lot of walking between your campsite and the beach. Love the available facilities and how well kept the grounds are.
Very clean and well maintained. Lots of amenities nearby including a restaurant with live music, a corner store, ice cream and mini golf/bumper boats, boat rentals, and even a hardware store and grocery store within 5 minutes of driving. One of the best provincial parks in BC!
This is a really clean and family friendly park with decent beach and space for bike riding or walking. We noticed lots of reserved campsites with no one using them by 6pm and no available serviced sites available in August to book vacation. There is a nice little playground and lots of washrooms around. Would love the opportunity to camp here but sadly we missed out.
Can be very noisy at times. Great place to bring kids. Lots of bike trails around the campsite.be sure to bring your bikes kids on bikes everywhere! Free public shower houses with warm water!
Great Provincial Park. Super for young kids with playground and lots of park road and some trails for cycling. Awesome beach area. Store not too far away for groceries and beverages. The reservation system can be a blessing or a curse depending on your situation.
Great campground (one of my favorite spots - if you can get a reservation). Lots of distance between camp sites and the parks crew are nice to chat with.
I went there to check the park out since I found it in the list of the most beautiful beaches in BC. It is in a very nice and large park. It has many spots to park huge RV's. The beach is also very nice. The water is clear and shallow which is great if you have little kids. The water sometimes is almost still and some waves are originated just by the boats passing by. I stayed close to the entrance from the parking lot because that area is a little bit more sandy. Other areas have more gravel. I took an inflatable boat and I took it all the way marked as swimming, safe area and the current drift me back to the shore. The parking and bathrooms is very close to the beach. I would recommend the park. I'm visiting this pafk again for sure.
Went end of June 2021. Clean washrooms and picnic tables. Water was refreshing to be in and not much dirt/debris in it either. Lots of trees for shade along the beach.
The campground is average. Nothing new or exciting to talk about, but also nothing bad. Gravel site was flat and level. Staff were nice. The lake water was clear and clean, but chopped with constant waves from all the boats. I would come back here again.
Love the Shuswap! Great, clean and treed campsites. Paved roads makes for great kids bike riding. Lots of improvements including new shower houses, playground, more campsites and parking spaces.
Beautiful beach, kayak rentals bring your hot dogs and burgers (BBQ required) and enjoy the day - you can take your boats over and explore copper island - just relax and have FUN
I am quite happy with the Shuswap Lake Provincial campgrounds, as far as government run campgrounds I feel as though it was fairly clean and well run, it has numerous washrooms and showers, the stalls are massive and with the ability of having more than one camper in each site makes it an easy four star in my books! The thing that kept it a four star is some washrooms were a bit dirty but keeping in mind almost every site was full I guess it is par for the course! Worth stopping here for a few days!
Great camping area. Camp sites are spread out. Camping area is easy to navigate. Bathrooms are clean. Playground/bike area are great and modern. Love how you can bike around the campground. Cute little ice cream shop
Great for families. Awesome for your kids that like mountain biking or want to learn it. They have many nice tracks there. Also really nice beach and not overcrowded. However lots of boats and noise. There are not many good hikes close to the campgrounds, but Scotch Creek Loop is very nice with a panorama lookout on the lake.
Still my most favorite campground of all time. Clean, great showers and washrooms, paved, very kid friendly, lots of places to ride your bike to. Fantastic beach. Great for boaters. Etc!
Staff keep this park incredibly clean. They could be seen driving around in golf carts, keeping an eye on the place while they go about their tasks. Great location for families - families were riding bicycles all over the park. The water temperature in mid-August when we were there is perfect for swimming. Campsites are spaced far apart with lots of trees and lots of shade. Flush toilets and showers on site and the facilities were clean and functional! We rented a couple of kayaks and paddled around Copper Island - took us about 90 minutes. We are definitely returning to this park.
