I come here once in a while to get a Reuben sandwich. Very friendly staff and the food is great! Makes me miss Montréal a little less.

Overhyped, way overpriced and too mediocre!

Went there for the first and the last time on Sun morning on the way to the park and thought to pick up a quick breakfast.

There’s little to no air circulation in the shop as the windows were all steamed up and you can see and smell the smoke from the wood burning oven throughout the whole shop. Our cloths reeked after being in the shop for only 10 minutes.
Seating is very cramped and feels as if you're shoved next to other people.

As for the menu, wow, astronomical prices for basic ingredients. The bagels we got looked and tasted the same as the ones you pick up elsewhere except, they are way overpriced here. Plus, they microwave the eggs as they have no way to actually cook them, so they tasted very weird and unappetizing.

Overall, a 1 out of 5 star for sure in all categories.

Possibly the best bagels this side of Montreal. So, if you are unwilling to fly to Montreal for a St Viateur bagel, then this is the place to go.

Interesting facts:
They are open 24 hours a day almost every day.
They also sell Montreal style smoke meat. I pretty sure it is not Shwartz.
The founder Joel Siegel "gained valuable experience aka "stole the recipe" from the famous Montreal bagel store Fairmount Bagel.

I’m thrilled to have found this place! We were in the neighbourhood quite late, and found Siegel’s on maps while looking for something to eat. This place took me right back to Montreal! The smoked meat bagels were really good and they are open 24/7!

We got some bagels to go top and they were pretty good. The dried tomato one wasn’t my favourite tho.

Having lived in Montreal, I believe that Siegel's makes hands down the best Montreal style bagels in Vancouver. Siegel's has many other items on the menu that are popular and likely good, but this rating is for their bagels only. Buy them by the dozen, slice them after they've cooled down, then freeze them in the freezer bag provided. The bagels are good to go straight to the toaster, and will be good for a month or more. Highly recommended.

Keep coming back to this business for substantial food that is reasonably priced and made by the company. Almost all items are handcrafted by the staff on site or in their own offsite bakery. Look at the menu and see the goods, then you can see that the company has a commitment to creating the foods they serve. Real food is a joy to find. Thanks for the effort!
we know it!

Cold and wet outdoor waiting area and communication through a microphone like you are being served at a currency exchange kiosk. Also they do not offer any dietary substitutions for milk for coffee —weird. And I asked for a gluten free bagel after calling ahead to confirm they have and once received it, was actually “reduced wheat”. Took me years to try again after a bad experience but still strange service here…

Busy
Lineup outside, no entering facility. Can pre-order from outside but still a bit of a lineup

My mouth waters everytime I drive by this fantastic little morsel.guess I know whats for supper!
29 November 2021 23:57
Delicious but kind of ridiculous to charge $11 on a tiny veggie sandwich, maybe a more reasonable price would be $7 max? I do see why it’s so popular though, and lines are insane!

This was the famous spot when I moved here 2009 and now you see a few copy-cats around the city. Freshly made bagels with a wood-burning oven. Many flavours of cream cheese and bagels, as well as bagel sandwiches. They are 24-hours most days. (pic: rosemary rock salt bagel & plain cream cheese)

Every time I go to Kits I have to go to Siegel's bagels because they are the very best! I bring them home and then deliver them to family members who also love them. The only true bagel out there worth eating!
18 November 2021 22:46
Bought half a dozen bagle and they were dry and tasted like a day old. When asking the cashier about it I was told that they were baked a few minutes ago. That was either a lie or their quality is really that bad.

Went there for the first time this week [Fall 2019], and now I've gone 3 times. Their food is awesome and they've been friendly every time. I thought at first their daily special wasn't filling enough, but after going back a few times, it's definitely filling, and worth the price if you can afford it.

I was planning to take pictures for the review, but I ate the food. Guess I gotta go back again!

Edit: Had to move away from Vancouver because of Covid. Of every single resteraunt I have been to or eaten food from in Vancouver, this store is the one i miss the most by FAR. [Fall2021]

Just in case anybody is wondering, I just left Montreal and can confirm Siegel’s is better than what they offer, and you better believe I scouted out supposedly the best there. I no longer live in Vancouver, and can’t wait until I can treat myself to a 2am large smoked meat sandwich on a rosemary rock salt bagel again.

Love this place! They have the best bagels, sandwiches, and pastries. Open 24/7 AND their woodburning bagel oven is so cool!
The staff are all super friendly and welcoming. It's really no wonder as to why there is often a large queue at both of their locations.
11 October 2021 12:03
I was recommended this place by a friend. The bagels are delicious! They are very chewy yet crispy. They are the perfect combination. I will definitely be back for more when I move closer to the area.
08 October 2021 15:28
Amazing bagels, great pastry selection and they're open 24 hours a day. Literally one of my favorites places to get chubby in Kitsilano.
05 October 2021 10:17
My favourite here is the Montreal smoked meat sandwich. It's a bit on the pricer side and the portions are kind of small for what you pay for.
10 September 2021 0:49
Unprofessional stuff with couriers. Couriers completely ignored by staff. Managers has to provide better training and explain how to work with couriers.
20 August 2021 12:52
My favorite bagel place! Bagels and sandwiches are always tasting fresh and service is always friendly. They recently also got vegan cream cheese
16 August 2021 2:25
Closest you can get to a Montreal bagel in town. They have a good variety of bagels. My favourites ate the stuffed bagels.they are smoked meat of spinach. Both very good.
08 August 2021 15:43
Just like the traditional Montreal bagel that I used to have. My only issue was the price. It seems little bit over priced for simple bagel. But other than that taste was pretty good.
15 July 2021 2:46
Love this rosemary rock salt bagels, schmear and lox. Drool. They have really good fries too! Was happy to pick up lunch and take it down to the water to enjoy.
10 June 2021 21:33
A bagel shop that doesn't disappoint ever. Offer's variety of bagels & meat. Clean store & quick service makes it popular & it does live upto it's reputation.
01 June 2021 13:24
I don't understand all the fuss about it.
It is not bad but not incredible neither and the sandwiches are a bit overpriced in my opinion.
28 May 2021 20:47
So happy to have the take out window but your speaker is terrible. Your employees are trying to verify orders but it's nearly impossible to understand through the speaker.
07 March 2021 6:32
When these bagels come straight out off the oven, they are so good. Or, throw them in your toaster the next day and they are still delicious. Their rosemary rock salt is a favorite for most. Others that we've tried that are also delicious are, poppy seed and everything bagel. Don't think you can go wrong with any bagel.

Yesterday I bought bagels from siegel's bagel in granville island, after so many good reviews and good referrals I decided to go. These are definitely not like Montreal bagels or what a bagel in Toronto. Definitely the worst bagels I ever ate.too dense, too sweet and too hard. Who puts sugar in bagels?
07 January 2021 16:09
Angel is the best. Very kind. Always asks how are you.
Siegel's is the best bagel shop. Very tasty bagels.
06 January 2021 7:26
Great bagels. Can taste the difference of their preparation and perfection of their bagels compared to store bought bagels. They are also handling covid ordering well.

May want to keep in mind how saucy and runny things can get with some of their sandwiches can be if you intend to order take-out, which is to be expected.
03 January 2021 14:03
Great bagel spot near the beach. We got the everything bagel with butter and a plain bagel with cream cheese.

Parking is limited so make sure to look on street as well. After getting your bagels you can walk down to the beach for a perfect viewing area to eat your bagel.
27 December 2020 15:50
I love coming here. I come down often and each time I visit, the food is spectacular and consistent. From time-to-time, the waits times are a little high, but I can't fault them for being popular. This place is busy seven days a week. I would highly recommend this place for a great bagel, etc. Not quite as good as Montreal, but still worth a trip out!
24 August 2019 12:00
Montreal smoke meat was awesome. Juicy, smokey, and fairly good volume too. The bagels are made fresh, and they have daily specials. Better than Rosemary Rocksalt Bagel chain by far, IMHO.
22 July 2019 16:08
Best bagels in western Canada. And they’re open 24 hours a day! And they have smoked meat! Coffee isn’t fantastic but no one comes here for the coffee.
17 July 2019 9:43
My first Bagel and I'm glad I picked Seigels, the Jalapeno Melt was very tasty and had the right amount of heat
10 July 2019 3:51
Got Benny Breakfast on everything bagel. As you can see, they probably don't know how to make benny egg at all. Hollandaise had a really weird curry taste.
I wish I wasn't in rush to go to work and super hungry, because I'd definitely complain and get Starbucks instead.
05 July 2019 17:35
Great bagels and a fair price at $1.50 each. The small portion of garlic lite cream cheese at $5.95 is a bit steep though, might just buy the bagels but not the creem cheese from Siegel's.
03 July 2019 22:56
This place is completely overrated. It's very expensive and takes way too long to get your food which isn't all that good. The only people who like it must be the late night drunks who'll gladly eat anything
22 June 2019 11:11
Excellent food, lineups out the door (at busy times) speak to the popularity of the place. Recommended.
13 June 2019 16:12
This place is great. Besides the fact that the bagels are delicious, and you can almost always get some hot out of the wood fire oven, it smells amazing in there.
07 June 2019 0:29
The best bagels and liz and smoked meats and cream cheese in town! I know people who will drive, or get on the bus to get their supplies here. Open 24 hours, oven always going, and the menu is awesome! The absolutely best aspect of this place.the people working here! Every single one of them on every shift is wonderful. Go check it out, you will love the bagels and fillings.
25 May 2019 16:09
The only place I know that makes Montreal style bagels between Seattle and Vancouver. This is always a mandatory stop for me on the way home from VAN. None better. Not a fancy place. It's in a little shopping village and their emphasis is on the bagels. Want a brick oven baked bagel made as good as it gets? Go here. Want to dine like the Queen of England among all the fanciest things while waited on hand and foot? This isn't for you than.
19 May 2019 6:12
Been visiting this shop for a decade. I must eat a Montreal Smoke Meat Bagel at least once a year. I'm normally very thrifty but everything is so delicious I find it difficult to not drop $40-80 each visit.
13 May 2019 18:39
Siegel's was a great Montreal style bagel which is as I learned, sweet. Most NY style bagels I've had are boiled in some mineral water, but Montreal style bagels are boiled in honey water. Even their savory bagels have a sweetness to them. It's not for everyone, but they were well done. They also have an assortment of delicious cookies. I really liked the poppyseed hamentashen.
10 May 2019 3:52
Probably one of the better bagels I’ve ever had in my life. Correction, it WAS the best bagel I’ve ever had in my life! The cream cheese was twice the price of the bagel however.

This is my favourite bagel shop in Vancouver. Whether I am getting a breakfast bagel or getting bagels to go, it never disappoints. I love the multigrain bagel especially.
