My review is more about the Front Desk than the dental work I’ve had, but my last appointment I was so upset with what happened. I did not choose when my next appointment would be, only told them usually a Tuesday works best for me, I let the receptionist choose the date. I didn’t over think it at all, because it seemed to be 6 months later and I trusted them. Well they made my appointment 2 days too early in terms of my coverage. I had to pay for my cleaning in full, and I could have just gone the next week if I had known. I was so upset, and my fiancé was even more livid, and at first they argued how my coverage worked was why I wouldn’t be covered even though I had the same coverage and had been there for the last year and a half prior without any issues, but when my fiancé showed them the flaws in their math, they got shocked and looked more into it. Then admitted they booked me in 2 days short of when my coverage would have worked and said that’s how some plans are unfortunately. I didn’t want a huge fight, and they informed me that they’d call my coverage to see if anything could be done in terms of a refund because it was so close to the date and to just pay for now and they would follow up. Well about two days later I got a voice message that I had a dollar and some cents as a refund. A DOLLAR. Don’t even bother to call me with that, the gas would cost me more. I felt so disrespected and after that I rebooked at a different clinic closer to where I live now, ultimately because it was expensive, and it broke my trust.

I also had a few other issues, I had my retainer remade there and at first they made it too large even though they scanned my mouth and I showed them my old retainer for scale, meaning I had to take additional time off work, and I had to come back to get it corrected. They did however, let me keep the scale of my teeth in case I needed a new retainer in the future, which I appreciated. Additionally I met with their orthodontist to see if I could correct an issue in my smile after braces and he quickly said no and charged me $150 for about 3 minutes of his time. I went to my new dentist and they were able to help fix the issue. I also had white spots due to genetics and I asked them if they could be corrected to which they said no, all I could do is whiten my teeth in hopes they would match the spots. Again my new dental clinic fixed the spots with a treatment they had.

Now that all being said, my cleaning at Simon Fraser Dental was always a good experience, I wish I knew my dental hygienists name as he was always so kind, easy to talk to, and gentle. I will also say my dentist there was also gentle, which I truly appreciated. But again after having such an expensive mistake and moving off the SFU mountain, I ultimately decided on a new clinic.

I really want to thank the amazing receptionists and Paul, my hygienist, for making my first time back to the dentist very comforting and easy. Dentist offices often can be scary and intimidating places but SFU dental deserves these 5 stars and then some. They also expanded into the space beside them so they are clearly very busy with patients which is always nice to see! If you park underground they will also provide you reimbursement of an hour parking (paid parking) so make sure to bring your slip to reception. The hygienists are very gentle and kind and don’t shame you into not having unkept teeth health or anything like that. Paul let me know everything he was doing and I felt very informed on the process. There are TV screens on the ceiling if you choose to watch, but I brought headphones and asked if I could listen to music during the cleaning to help my nerves. Thank you all again!

We had a wonderful experience with my son. The dentist did a thorough check-up and the hygienist was very informative and wonderful with my child.

Dr Yee and his Assistant today (can’t remember her name) we’re excellent. Made me feel comfortable and without the latest technology they use the filling I went in for was a breeze, done without freezing! Thank you Dr Yee!

Dr. Yee and team completed 2 porcelain 3D printed crowns & a root canal in 2.5 hours. This is a wonderful team of professionals.

Dr was great really helped me with the filling practice. The assistant wasn’t that great. She treated me like a piece of meat and pushed the tool hard into my mouth, that really made some scratches in my mouth. Also, she used the vacuum gun at unnecessary spots in my mouth and on my tongue, which were really painful.

Compared to all my previous dentists Dr. Yee has the best techniques with his advanced equipment and he is the most ethical and efficient among them. I am a 75 years old healthcare practitioner myself (chiropractic). Under his care and the pretty dental hygienist s, Grace and Michelle I still have all my teeth and I have no cavity since Sept, 2019.

Compared to all my previous dentists, Dr. Yu has the best technology and advanced equipment, and he is the most ethical and efficient among them. I am also a healthcare practitioner (75 year old Chiropractor). Under the care of him and the beautiful dental hygienists Grace and Michelle all my teeth are still intact and I have been cavity free since September 2019.

According to her advice, I get my teeth cleaned every 3 months and now my dental health is worry-free.

I went to this dentist a year ago to get my wisdom extracted. Went to this place since it was close to school. However, I recently went to get my teeth checked out from another dentist to be told that my wisdom teeth hasn't been fully extracted and I still have a piece in my gums. Also they didn't bother checking up or asking to rebook to see if I was recovering well. Wouldn't recommend.

I have to give them a great score. I am terrified of the Dentist, no matter what dentist even if its the most friendly. Everyone is very nice, from the receptionist to the plans that they allow you to pay, if you don't have tons of money (you know because going to the dentist is expensive no matter what) to being very welcoming and friendly. I usually forget to ask questions, but they got you. Just asked them, they will help you.

Went in for a checkup and cleaning on February. After a couple weeks, one of my molars looked discolored as if I had a giant cavity. I immediately booked a follow up appointment only for the dentist to tell me everything was okay and it's suppose to look like that. Less than a month later, my tooth cracks from eating. Went to another dental clinic to find out there was a huge cavity and had to get a root canal done.

People are very nice but it is not the best dentist experience specially the assistants could be a bit calmer and better in communication.

I like this clinic as it is clean and professional. Dr Yee, Dr Sun and all the staff are very nice people. I like the way Dr. Yee cares about every single detail when working on my teeth. Thanks a lot for this great service.

Dr. Fatemeh Basij is the best dentist who I have ever met during recent years. She communicates with the patient during every step of the procedure, making sure patient is okay and not in too much pain. She enjoys her work and so she helps her patients with all of her heart.

I was here for cleanings/checkups but then the Dr.find quick a few cavities: (but those cavities can only be found through X-ray. I'm not sure weather I need to repair all of these or not. Overall experience is nice and friendly

Have had nothing but great experiences in this clinic over my entire graduate career. My hygienist Paul is friendly and skilled in his craft. I would definitely recommend this place, especially if you're already a student.

Was not impressed.

Was in a lot of pain after a recent procedure. I was told to come back in 2 weeks if the pain persists. It did, so I made a follow up appointment. When I arrived I was greeted with apathy. I was told that pain was a normal part and essentially that I should not have come in. I told them that it was really painful but again my concerns for my own personal well-being were disregarded.

Essentially my experience was I had severe pain and that my experience was invalidated. The dentist seemed annoyed by my presence, and prior to even looking at my tooth began telling me that I should not have come in, that this was normal.

I have had some generally okay visits to this place in the past, but I think I am done here. Definitely finding somewhere that can really just demonstrate human compassion.

Dr. Yee and his staff are the best I've witnessed and always willing to help. Their cutting edge dental technology leaves my family and I in ahhhh. I highly recommend their services.

Dr. Benny Lee is a knowledgeable proficient dentist who runs a patient centred practice at Simon Fraser Dental in Burnaby BC. I had LANAP surgery there (not available in Victoria) where he was assisted by friendly staff and advanced technological support. He was attentive to my questions and gave me science based explanations which gave me confidence that I would receive excellent thoughtful treatment. I highly recommend him.

Surprisingly painless tooth extraction and bonegrafting procedure. Dr. Yee explained everything he would do, and was very efficient. I experienced no discomfort at all. The only thing was that I felt I received little instruction on post-surgery care. After I was done, I was given a small post-surgery package and told that I was allowed to go. If I had not asked questions to find out how to care for my teeth post-surgery, I would have done all the wrong things:/

Very well teeth cleaning experience. It’s been more than 5 years since my last teeth cleaning, so I was suppose my visit would be with more hurt and bleeding, but they made it really gentle. Really appreciate their detail explanation and all the help.

Beware of being up sold expensive optional procedures, tried two dentists here and both give unreasonable quote, they are money driven and will ask you to do unnecessary repairs. I went to another dental group for exactly same services and each teeth is $60 cheaper.

I did have two appointments here, first time the filling doesn't match my teeth color, and the second time the filling left sharp edges.

The dental service providers of this visit of mine were professional, detailed, efficient in their ime used. I got more done in this one visit than what I was expecting.

What a good dentist's doctor! But the parking management company really doesn’t dare to compliment it. As long as it’s a minute late, I will got the ticket for 100 dollar and say it ruthlessly. When I go to see the teeth, I basically receive a ticket every year, and the fine is 2.75 administrative fees. So I never go and check my teeth again!

Dr. Benny Yee is a great dentist! He is very current with the latest developments in dentistry and he takes ample time out to educate and inform patients of their options. I am so glad I found Dr. Yee and his practice.

I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth out by Dr. Duffy, and I want to say the procedure only took about an hour. I’m in the middle of the recovery process, and I’m not in any pain or discomfort. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the service I received and highly recommend Dr. Duffy for any future patients!

The friendly staff at SFU dental centre showed great care for hygene during Corona and also my comfort. Also they checked my insurance coverage before starting the procedure.

Had my full mouth series xray sent here and they lost it. I had the place that took my xrays call and confirm that it was recieved (they said they got it, guess not). This resulted in me canceling my check-up as I would be charged full price for half a job (without xrays they explained that they could not tell me if I had any cavities or not).

The dentists that run this place are good at what they do, I have nothing bad to say about them, but as for the front desk staff they are very unwelcoming. When trying to communicate with the front desk to schedule my appointment I got alot of rude looks and eye rolling from the receptionists. All in all, my quarrel lays soley with the front desk staff due to their unorganized and rude nature.

In brevity, in a city where dental clinics are ubiquitous and prices for dental work are standardized, it would be in your best interest to seek out the clinic that will give you the most for your money. As such, do yourself a favor and seek out a clinic with a welcoming staff who will treat you right.

Our family has been going to visit Dr. Benny Yee and would highly recommend this clinic. Especially with the new expansion, we were very impressed with the level of hygiene and professional staff.

Dr. Yee is the best dentist that I have seen. He is top notch and old school in his customer service and professionalism and in the quality of his work, but he is up to date and cutting edge on the latest technology and craft improving dentistry tools and software. His prices are reasonable for the quality of his work.

I’ve been with Simon Fraser Dental Centre for not too long, but I couldn’t recommend them enough. They make the payment process extremely smooth for those with SFU student insurance plans, and I would assume it’d be the same with plans from other schools. My recent wisdom tooth surgery was quick, painless and Dr. Duffy did a fantastic job! I’ll keep coming back.:)

Tremendously nice staff and truly caring. They kept trying to find the right time for me, make sure my insurance would cover most of my services, and always had that beautiful smile on their faces.

Very professional staff and incredibly clean office. Felt very safe with the protocols they have put in place. Dr Tyler Duffy is the best dentist in town, I have been seeing him for almost 15 years and he's professional and wonderful and incredibly skilled. I would recommend anyone who is looking for a new dentist to look him up, he's amazing.

Seems they're only willing to do what you want if it suits their needs.

No one likes going to the dentist. Especially if you have dental issues and are a little embarrassed, no one should be made to feel as if they don't matter.

If you LOVE going to the dentist, then I'm sure this place is fine.

If you're like most people and cringe, or want somewhere where humans work, go elsewhere.

The environment is good, the staff who did the cleaning is super kind, I feel respected. The cleaning was better than before as I feel he treated gentler. Overall, I recommend it.

The second times I went for filling my cavities. The doctor did a great job, I did not have any injection and didn't feel any pain. I filled one tooth before and I feel kind of uncomfortable. It could be my cavities are not that deep but still, I feel very comfortable this visit.

I had my first dentist appointment here beginning of this year, and the service was to the point. The doctor and staff was friendly; he informed me about the proper dental hygiene and demonstrated how I can practice it regularly with no effort. Thank you

I went to this clinic 3-4 years ago. Now I have to redo all root canals they did. My new dentist is surprised what a poor job they did with my root canals.

I had my first appointment here yesterday and left with a significant impression of kindness and professionalism.

The hygienist and dentist informed me about their process at every step and took all of my questions with ease. After deciding what kind of services I could receive, the dentist was in no rush to perform them and directed me to the receptionist to see how much it would cost me after my insurance was applied.

AVOID! Dentist office loves adding random fees (65$ for pictures of your teeth) and rips off a lot of international students.

Best dentist office I have ever been to. Worth the drive up Burnaby mountain and incredibly convenient if you live in the UniverCity area. They use a laser for fillings, which means you don’t need freezing for most procedures! They never keep you waiting and always make sure you comfortable.

My first time seeing a dentist in about three years and this might be the best experience I’ve had! Everyone at the office is very friendly and I felt at ease. Thanks for the clean teeth!

My dental hygienist, Grace is the prettiest dental hygienist I have ever met. She is always very good and patient. Her expertise is one of the factors of my dental health. On her recommendation, I clean my teeth every 3 months and I am worry-free of my dental health now.

Extremely rude and unprofessional new dentist they have joined their team (Dr. John.). Left me on the chair for 45 minutes having his lunch, without checking on me. He couldn't even get my tooth frozen after that 45 minutes. Very disappointed.

I have had a great experience with Dr. Yee and his dentistry staff. Dr. Yee uses new technology to ensure a great experience is had by every patient. He is efficient yet takes his time to educate and explain process and next steps. He is on time, professional and empathetic to those who may have anxiety about going to the Dentist. I would recommend Dr. Yee to all family and friends.
