The people are extremely friendly here and I heard that the academic program at SFU is spectacular. I go to WLU in Waterloo, Ontario. I have a couple of buddies who attend here so this is what I think of SFU, all IMHO.

Why are your Teaching Assistants on strike if your rated No. 1? My grandsons is a first year student studying from home. It is very disappointing and not what he paid for with his tuition! Why?

Terrible system, tuitions are unjustifiably high, and where does that money go? The TA's do not get paid enough, so they are striking, the undergrads are lost and confused on what to expect. The school is quiet and has not done any fair bargaining, at this point it seems corrupted. Rumors are that only a handful of higher authorities likes execs and presidents keep all of that money. I wish I thought twice before applying here, your average tuition is $1000 per course and as of September 28th, 2023 many classes are getting cancelled. Do I get compensated for that? No! Terrible, terrible, terrible. CHOOSE A DIFFERENT SCHOOL!

This school likes to share confidential information about students to their abusive families

It is alright, I enjoyed my program here. There is a large Latino community and a Latin association for those who come here from Latin countries. I recommend getting involved with clubs, because it is very empty after normal school hours. Not many people live on campus here.

The university is on a hill but the buildings are on one floor spreading and stretching out. The campus design is quite nice.

Happy to take your money without providing access to the classes you need to graduate. Also ensures there is more than enough bureaucratic process that you can’t actually receive your accreditation you did earn.
Spend your money elsewhere if you want to complete your program in a timely manner and wish to have anything to show for it.

Simon Fraser University (Burnaby) has been ranked the 7th finest university in Canada, and it mostly tries to be inclusive to people of various languages, national origins, and ethnicities!

A very beautiful campus situated in the hills, even though I visited the place on a rainy day but the whole uni is top notch. A very big and wonderful campus, I'm sure on a sunny day the views from the uni are breathtaking

If you want a business degree - go to BCIT and learn the practical and applicable side of things. As far as a BEd degree combined with PDP.well, drink 'the Kool-aid! '

SFU provides absolute worst service to the students. The student services staff are unreachable and even if you get hold of them they'll do their best not to help you. Don't believe me? Give them a test call for yourself and see if you can get hold of anyone from student services.

Formerly a student at SFU. I'm glad to be back here in this beautiful fall weather. It's crisp and clean outside. There are fewer vehicles and less pollution on the mountain. The university has undergone significant changes in terms of appearance, technology, and environment. There are numerous new developments being built. More cafes, stores, and bars are opening up here. Here, faculty, staff, and students may all more fully appreciate university life. The rebranding, interior design, and infrastructure have all been quite successful. Indeed, this may be a popular tourist destination.

If you want to go to university to meet new friends, I would go elsewhere. Even though there is housing there, it is definitely a commuter college. In general, if you're taking studies that are more challenging, you're kind of forced to go to school for 5 years for undergraduate if you need to keep your grades up. More money for them. Less for you. Be prepared to be stranded there at least once or twice a year during winter due to buses having lack of winter tires or chains.

I’ve come to the Burnaby SFU Campus to visit, during a volleyball tournament. From what I’ve seen it is a beautiful campus. Since it is located at the top of Burnaby Mountain, the views are fabulous! Today it was raining but the clouds were up high. Later in the day, the clouds descended and the fog gafe the campus an otherworldly feeling. The architecture of the original campus (circa 1960-70) is very nice even in the unfinished concrete grey. Lots of amazing angles for a photographer to explore.

It is nice that the the gymnasiums and aquatics Center are located in the same complex and attached to the visitor parking. These are easy to find not just on the map but also driving through campus.

To the east you have the main campus square, main library, and newest residences, as well as shopping area (with A&W, Starbucks, subway, TimHortons, Uncle Fahti’s and a few independent restaurants) There is also a large grocery store in the same strip.

To the west, you have the campy eatery, which boasts Buffett-style dining for breakfast lunch and dinner (at least on Sundays) Didn’t get to eat here but the price isn’t bad ($21.49) per adult).

I enjoyed this famous more than I have enjoyed the UBC campus. Worth a visit!

A scholarly, scenic and comfortable place to go to. It has its own small community feel and conveniences too.

Nice school, lots of fresh air and black bears everywhere! Transit can be tricky in winter, school rarely closes on snow days.

Love the peaceful atmosphere on Burnaby Mountain. Plus, there are good options for take out!
