Singapore Hawker Burnaby

Love this place. Actually tastes better than most hawkers places in Singapore. Probably one of the best service you'll get anywhere. Huge thumbs up to the staff and the hiring manager. Our kids are constanting asking to come back. Original coquitlam location is just as awesome.

Just for the birds? !?

I had a take out order when it first opened and it was more than disappointing so decided to come back here for a dine in experience I hope of a better experience.

This place is located on the corner of Kingsway and Sperling in Burnaby. There are a few tight butt parking spaces on the side parking lot or around the streets.

Inside the restaurant is similar to a cafeteria concept; the bare basics of tables and chairs with minimal decors, order and pay at the counter, food will be brought to your table when ready.

Upon entering, was guided to a table already occupied by another diner (wasnr busy and many empty tables, why a shared table? This isn’t Singapore tinder? !? I am here to eat not in hope of making a new friend and feeding eat other roti? !?)

Here were the food I ordered;

1. Satay skewers (chicken). I find them quite tiny in portion wise, would’ve been better if they were slightly more chunky.
2. Roti Canai. The roti itself was quite flaky and good but wish the curry wasn’t so watery so sticks to the roti more.
3. Nyonya 3 kinds pan fried with shrimps. Were out of okras but I okay’ed it. Pretty basic noting exciting much.
4. Singapore laksa. The soup base was too sweet that it masked most of the flavours away but the fish balls were decent. Maybe a cleaner presentation would be nice too.
5. Boneless Hainanese chicken on rice. The chicken was missing that silky smoothness and the rice didn’t have that nice Hainanese chicken flavour to it.

Overall, I believe the second time around confirmed my first time experience here. The customer service here was quite limited besides the cashier who was quite nice and friendly.
The ambiance was a very casual cafeteria style which I guess it kind of fits the “hawker” part.
The food was… ummm… I would say could’ve been better; in terms of quantity it was okay but in terms of quality, it was off. Plus hawkers or street vendors equal to large portion of good food for a very reasonable price, I personally find the price a bit higher than what the name stands for. I personally prefer Green & Oak more… not a repeat for me anytime soon.

Hawker food is one of my faves! I love all the spices in the food! I used to go to Coquitlam just to eat Singapore Hawker! I'm so happy they finally have a Burnaby location which makes it alot closer for me now! The app for take out is easy to use! My new go to spot for take out!

First visit to their new Burnaby location. Can be busy during peak hours. We reserved our table prior. You order and pay with the cashier and when your number is flashed on the screen, you can pick up your food.

We had nyonya curry lembu (highly recommended). Meat was so tender and in big chunks too. Also had the gado-gado, char koay teow and curry laksa. Very delicious and will be back again.

Disappointing food.
Rice was dry and beef in curry was dry and chewy almost like beef jerky!
Roti were soaked with oil not crispy. The rest of the food were mediocre at their best.
In comparison, their Coquitlam location is much better.

Quick and efficient. Good service. Beef rending a bit on the sweet side. Portions are a bit small. Satays and chicken rice are the best.

I was excited to try this place but was disappointed. We ordered roti canai which was okay maybe a little too greasy. The curry chicken wings was very good. The disappointing dishes were the Singapore laksa, chicken curry and Hainan chicken with rice. The flavor for the curry and laksa was a little too bland from what I am used to. Another thing I did not like was the long wait to get a table and also you have to go up and order your food, like at the food court.

Crazy busy on a Saturday. Went there at their opening time but found out people were already sitting inside and eating. Apparently there was a lineup before opening and they decided to let people in early. Was lucky to still able to grab a table quickly. Food was pretty solid and price was reasonable. However it was missing a wow factor. I would go back but probably after the hype dies down.

Ordering from the counter was quick and the food came just as fast. Laksa I had was a big portion and the broth was pretty on point.

Good food except always long wait, self-service style of dining in.workers running around during peak hours to clean up tables. I think there could be a better way of managing it.

Self serve…order 6 different things get up and go get your order 6 times. Why can’t they use a number system where you put your number at your table and they bring your food order. Makes a better experience. Food was just ok

I ordered curry beef brisket, taste is good but potato is more than beef brisket, 90% Potato 10% Beef Brisket.
Really bad Customer Servies, not recommended

A quick and convenient Singaporean restaurant. Food was pretty decent and authentic. If you live nearby, probably a good place for South East Asian food.

Owner of Singapore hawker burnaby, please teach some basic customer service skills to your employees. While I understand the restaurant is brand new, and things can be chaotic, it is not acceptable to be rolling eyes, and yelling at customers. I went into the restaurant for some take out today because I love the location in coquitlam, the cashier was very unpleasant to say the least. Lots of scoffing, eye rolling and yelling while I was trying to place my order. Then I was told to wait on the black chairs at the entrance for my order to be ready. 15 minutes passed, my order number was not called up. I saw some take out bags ready at the counter and went to inquire. And sure enough it was ready. I asked why my number wasn't called, to which your employee said, there is no answer. I think a simple apology such as I'm sorry we are extremely busy would have gone a long way. I usually don't like to leave reviews like this, but it was a very upsetting experience today, I feel that I wasn't welcome at all.

I recently visited Singapore Hawker and had an amazing meal that included the Kari Lembu, Nasi Goreng, and Sweet Coconut Roti for dessert. The Kari Lembu, a tender beef curry, was rich and flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The Nasi Goreng was a perfectly executed plate of fried rice, vegetables, and meats with aromatic spices that left me feeling completely satisfied.

For dessert, I indulged in the Sweet Coconut Roti, a soft and fluffy roti filled with sweet coconut filling that was the perfect ending to my meal.

The staff at Singapore Hawker were friendly and attentive, providing top-notch service that made my dining experience even more enjoyable. The prices were reasonable, and the portion sizes were generous, making it a great value for the quality of food served.

Overall, I highly recommend Singapore Hawker to anyone looking for authentic Singaporean cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere. The Kari Lembu, Nasi Goreng, and Sweet Coconut Roti are just a few of the many delicious dishes they offer, and I can't wait to return to try more.

I would however suggest a self served water machine and to make it clear with a sign to register name at the cashier rather than saying wait to be seated if not one is staying at the front.just my opinion. (could be because it was a Wednesday night)

If you missed singapore hawker food, just come to this places. It feel almost like hawker center in katong area.

Very noisy because of the building materials used and lack of partitioning. This is a canteen type of establishment. Price seems okay but in fact the portions are smaller than average. Some of the glossy tables are not level so that plastic tumblers which are wet at the base will run along the sloped surface. If these tumblers contain hot water, it is a serious scalding issue! Canned soft drinks are stacked right outside the toilets - makes me wonder if someone who uses the toilet may casually touch these cans or accidentally fling water on the hands onto these canned drinks.

We visited Coquitlam location once. Food was so good. Burnaby location doesn’t disappoint us. Kuey Teow Teow is so yummy. Chicken rice and satay are also tasty.

The new place is nice! BUT the food taste is far off from the one in Coquitlam. The staff, questionable at best (for very particular person there). I went here 3x and one lady was always angry, e.g when i asked for water she put the glass harshly on the table and filled in the glass like some torture. When she needs to key-in something to the laptop, she slams it really hard. No clue what her problem is. I have seen her before at the Coquitlam place and never behaved that way. Not sure if this an attitude to serve a customer.
