Came in for date night, ordered beer and chicken strips.
Got a call after exactly 3 minutes that our child is sick and we need to get back.
Asked to quickly pay for the beer and cancel the food as we need to go fast, the waitress said they started working on them and we should wait until they are ready so she can pack them to go.
Literally we have to wait there to pay for chicken strips we will never eat at home instead of rushing back to our sick child.

This is a higher end place for food prices but we found the food to be just ok. I had their signature cheeseburger with the garden salad, the cheeseburger was good but the salad was amazing. My friend had an eggs Benedict and both his eggs were overdone, no yolk ooze, that was disappointing. The truffle omelette was nice but the eggs were a bit hard as well. Service was very good but time to get our meals seemed a bit long considering it was not busy.

Have been coming to SL since they opened, we had moved up to the Okanagan a year ago and knew we had to stop by and get our usuals that we love when we were in the area. The master chicken and the Fraser valley beet salad. I must say, we were so disappointed. To spend over $100 plus tip, for take out and to be so excited and wait a year to dine out. The beet salad had no arugula lettuce and barely any cheese and truffle dressing, there was just a bunch of beets and oranges. Usually the salad is filling for over $17.00 but for take out you get next to nothing… for $17.00!
I would never order take out again, it’s just not worth your money and time. Unfortunately I don’t know if we’ll be stopping by there again now.

Birthday dinner for my neice. Comfortable ambience, amazing service and incredible menu. One of the best chefs in the Fraser Valley. Recommend for any special dinner for teens to seniors

Second time here at this location as a visitor from Toronto.

I was able to make same day reservations on open table and luckily get in for a Friday evening!

This time we were seated in a cozy corner of the restaurant and was nice to be able to have a conversation.

We started off with the crab cakes as an app and then i got the ravioli with scallops and my friend got the steak meal.

I really liked my pasta minus the the scallops that were cold. I really appreciated how attentive the server was and offered to get fresh new ones - given how hungry I was I didn’t fuss over it (because i didn’t want to wait) but she ended up having it taken off the bill which was much appreciated.

I learnt something new about the wine - it’s made to be shook before being drank and it completely changes the flavour of the wine (in a good way)

As last time - great experience and service! Really hoping for a location to come to Toronto.

Food was absolutely amazing, service also our waitress Kendra was attentive but not in your face all the time but there when you needed her. There were 9 of us and we were all really impressed.

Won't be coming back. First experience was a terrible one. We arrived at 5: 50pm, giving us an hour before needed to make a 7pm movie. I let the hostess and the server know upon arrival that we were in a bit of a rush, needing to make the movie in an hour or so. Our server took our oder quickly and said she would try to rush things. After waiting for over 40mins our food was still no where to be seen while the 2 person table beside us who arrived about 15mins later than us was already eating. The server noted my frustration. I asked her to just bring the bill and pack the food to go. Of course management has to get involved at this point, the manager comes over and ask some completely irrelevant questions, stating "was there some miscommunication with your server because your food is only 20mins late? ". Only 20mins late? As if to say that's normal? Anyway I politely said no, no miscommunication, but 20mins late is the difference of us actually eating this meal here vs now having to take it to go. I asked again for the bill, at this point I just wanted to leave but we were starving. 10mins later the server finally comes back with the bill and says "my manager couldn't do much for the bill but here's a $10 GC". The gesture didn't fit the scenario. I paid, tipped her well and continued to wait for our actual food. Another 10mins pass and our food still hasn't been handed to us. We get our jackets on and begin to leave, half way walking out the restaurant someone finally hands me our food. We ended up missing the movie and the food was lack luster at best. Won't be back.

AMAZING food! Shockingly good for a chain. Great flavour combinations. If you're there for brunch, the hollandaise on the benny is the best you'll ever have. The souffle pancakes with lemon chantilly cream are to die for.

For Langley, pretty good. For Vancouver, this place would get eaten. For what you’re paying on the mains expectations should be higher. Fried chicken tasted nice, sort of a Vietnamese style batter in it, but not expensive cuts of meat. One hind quarter, not much meat on it. No breast. Sirloin was cooked to requested medium amount but really wasn’t tender. Decor is nice but location off a highway isn’t very interesting. Service fine, sort of cactus club style. Look If all you’re after is a burger and a beer it’s fine as you’re headed out of Langley but don’t expect diner prices even though it’s diner food. Expected better.

We were greeted and promptly seated as soon as we arrived and had our vaccine cards checked. Mackenzie, our server, was friendly and quick to take our order. We had the S+L Infamous burger as they had a BOGO free promo. It tasted great but was just a little soggy halfway through. Their frozen rosé and chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream is also a must try!

5 stars if they bring back the Humous and Shawarma.

3 stars if they dare get rid of the lobster rolls.

Reservation was made under husband's name and we arrived a few minutes early. Saw an empty table we were sat down at eventually, but had to wait outside nonetheless despite the restaurant relatively quiet. Food was tasty but prices are slightly higher than expected based on its location - I would pay about the same for brunch at a downtown Vancouver restaurant with better views and ambiance.

I was so disappointed with this location we made reservations for 6pm for a group of 6. Not even an hour after we arrived they told us we had to leave because their ac wasn't working and the kitchen was over heating. Could you of not called us ahead of our reaovations to let us know that your ac wasn't working? Did u know check the weather network? If you knew it was going to be that hot and ur ac wasn't working why were u even open for business? I finally got the chance to go out for 2 hours without my newborn and you guys ruined it! And by ur comment section it looks like this is has happened on several occasions.

The food tastes great however they removed two of the best item menus which makes me super sad. Bring back the lobster mash! We had Serena as our server and she was great. Will be coming back

My fiancee and I went here a few weeks Ago to celebrate our engagement. The food was phenomenal (best steak I've probably ever eaten) and the service was excellent.

The great: service was fantastic. Great ambiance. Fried Mac and cheese sticks were delicious. They also gave us a free birthday dessert which was a delicious cookie, freshly baked, served with ice cream. It was gone in under 2 minutes! Delicious.

The bad: my New York steak, though cooked perfectly medium, was as tough as shoe leather. We ordered sirloins for the kids and theirs were pretty tough too, as was my wife's steak frites. Not sure why or what happened, but it was awful. For a restaurant with steak literally in its name, I expected more: (

I'd definitely try this place again, but I wouldn't order the steak and instead would try some of the other menu items. I was admittedly quite surprised by the steak, especially from a JRG restaurant.

Edit: JRG commented below asking me to email them (which definitely made it sound publicly like they wanted to make this right). However, I've now sent two emails a week apart and have yet to receive a response.

Terrible experience, sat and waiting for our waitress a good 10 mins and decided to leave because we weren’t even acknowledged by a single server. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all and when we got up to go we saw about 6/7 servers just hanging out at the bar, will not be giving this place another try.

Service was the only positive from this meal. Our server was lovely. My halibut was dry. My husband's steak was grisly. The calamari was a tiny portion and not good either. We also ordered crab cakes and they were not enjoyable either. Expensive for sub par food. I wouldn't return.

Every time we go to S & L we have a great experience dining there.
Everything worked like a well greased wheal so far:) The food is amazing: awesome presentation and the taste is great! Service is 5 star! Ambience and the atmosphere is awesome! Great job everybody! WE highly recommend this restaurant for any of your special occasions and simply for dining, and for experience!

Went here for brunch this past weekend and WOW what a disappointment. Food is extremely over priced and their eggs Benedict was utterly disgusting, I couldn't even eat my meal, my mother had the same thing and we both had the same thoughts. Staff were amazing, however we all felt bent over with quality and food costs. Keg price without keg quality. Unfortunate as we were hoping for a new place to eat.

Thank you so much for a great evening. Your staff is amazing. I'm sorry I don't remember the young man who was our server, but he was very on the ball.

The food is delicious I loved it.

The ladies are nice as well, they're not stuck up like most places, they're actually nice.

Mercedes is great and has some nice nails.

I just got home from dinner, here's my story.
TL/DR - Reminded us 4 times we had a two hour time slot.

I get it.with the restrictions and new way of dining we all have to adapt.
I made a reservation and was called earlier today to tell me we only had 2 hours for dinner. That's good to know, and I get it. Others have to eat and restaurants need to stay open. However, the phone call was not the only reminder. When I walked in, we were reminded that we only had two hours.fair enough, perhaps the evening hostess and the hostess in daytime didn't realize I was already told.
There in lays the problem, it took a good while for our server to come and take our order. Does that count against our time? My crab cakes (delicious) took longer than they should have to come out, does that count? I wasn't done with the appy and my main was right there so there was some timing issues in the back of the house.
Mains were ok, steak a little under cooked for being medium, another sign they are either rushed back there or not paying attention.
Ok, here is where the time constraints get annoying. With 30 minutes left, we were reminded again that they needed the table but our coffee and dessert was on the way. We were reminded again at the 15 minute mark with dessert (key lime cheesecake - pretty good) still being eaten.
That is 4 times. I understand, but having someone stand over me to remind me constantly is off putting. Probably won't be back. It's an expensive dinner to be reminded 4 times you have to leave soon.

This place has gone downhill since our last visit. Went for happy hour only to be served with mediocre food/drinks and below average service. Our server was uninviting and we felt as though we were being rushed during our meal. Very disappointing experience.

The food was fantastic and our server was great. We came for a family dinner of 4 with no reservations and were seated right away. My only complaint - paying $60 for nitro ice cream made table side with gummie bears, the gummie bears were so hard you couldnt eat them. Would have been 5 stars sanz dessert.

The food here is always good, always cooked and plated wonderfully, our server was super friendly, kept coming by to make sure things were tasting good and that we were happy, he always took away empty dishes quickly. He was really friendly. Definitely recommend coming here.

Ordered through DoorDash for an order that should arrive at 615pm. Door dash tries to get ahold of them twice with no answer. How incompetent is your restaurant that you can’t get a single order out within 2 hours of the order being taken. Finally canceled the order at 840 pm when it still showed the order hadn’t been prepared.

Went with husband and 2 year old daughter at 2: 30, it wasn’t busy - hostess said all high chairs were currently in use so my daughter was crawling all over us the whole time. Hostess also let us know they needed the table for a reservation in 1.5 hours, I said no problem we are quick eaters because of our toddler. It then took 15 minutes to be greeted by our waitress, we ordered immediately. Food took forever to come. The woman who brought the food put a plate down in front of my husband and a plate down in front of me and asked if we needed anything else. She and I looked at each other in equal terror as I told her yes we still needed my daughter’s meal. The waitress had forgotten to punch the kid’s meal in. Still, despite their mistake, they didn’t rush my daughter’s order, it arrived long after my husband and I finished eating, at that point we just boxed her food up and left. Also, there was a fly in my salad.

Several misses by S + L. My partner booked and followed up on a "birdnest" booth by the bar. She confirmed with staff again, the day of our reservation. To our dismay, we were sent to a table by the booth seats. We then tried to order appetizers off the menu and were told after two attempts that they were sold out. The server was pleasant but all in all for the price point $$$$, the experience and food was not worth it. The manager assured us she would make up for the misses and mistakes made. No follow up by the manager was made.

Great atmosphere. Food was ok, but I would have expected better for the price. I ordered steak, prawns and house salad. The steak was great, but the prawns were bland and the salad was a soggy mush, so much so that I couldn't finish it. Worst of all my mom got food poisoning from her caesar salad. Probably wouldn't recommend the restaurant overall, as I could get similar food at a pub for half the price. Great service from the waitress though!

Dime-sized oysters that were full price, drinks were sub par, waitress had less then zero personality, table was dirty. First, only and last visit!

Love the look of the inside. The knives in the wall are super cool. The cauliflower and Mac n cheese sticks were a huge hit. Yummy dessert too!

First time was amazing with great food second time was not so good. Only two patio heaters worked and seeing this is currently the only dining area due to the pandemic they should get that sorted and they ran out of blankets. Hand dispenser not working and place seemed a bit run down. Food was just ok at best.

First time at the diner. Meal was ok. Serve at the start was excellent then declined when getting the desert and tea. Then the wait for the bill. Another side table was rude in the select vocabulary as well. An A for effort.a C for service.

Pretty good food but there was a disturbing amount of pee on the ground by the mens urinals. Worse than a greasy pub. Expected a little cleaner.

Update, March 2021: Good food, steak was good. Bathroom situation hasn't gotten better, still lots of pee at every urinal stall.

All my friends were surprised when I told them to try S+L Kitchen & Bar.and then recommend them.wait for it. Master Chicken!

Their steaks and lobster were pretty good but seriously for me the Master Chicken is the signature dish that you can't get anywhere else in town! It's super crispy, super tender, super delicious, everything just cooked perfectly to my liking!

The crispy Cauliflowers w/ bacon was also very good! Highly recommended and will come back for sure!

I had a very good time there. There was a misunderstanding about our reservation but the staff was very kind and understanding. The food was great and I liked the house red wine. I highly recommend visiting this place.

Love their cocktails, and amazing food! It's be great to see them on GetintheLoop so we can keep up with their specials!

Went there for dinner and had a great time! Nice atmosphere in spite of COVID and all the restrictions. Our server, Danielle, was fantastic (very gracious and outgoing). Honestly, she was a breathe of fresh air from the regular servers we've been encountering. She genuinely cared that we had a good time and was quick to correct any mistakes without being asked or prompted. The other staff was very attentive as well and they seem to work as a team.

The food was pretty good too. The wings were cooked and coated nicely, however, the hot sauce was a little bland. Mussels, oysters & salad were all yum. The baked cookie was very yummy but it needed to be thicker/larger. Would also like to see a different white wine option. Although the Kim Crawford and Oyster Bay Sauv Blancs are great wines it seems a little redundant to have both options as they are quite similar. Maybe some Mission Hill Pinot Gris or local Chaberton Bacchus to substitute!

All in all, will definitely be back!

This place is seriously really good! I didn't take any photos but we had a great dining experience. The calamari was so flavourful, unique with spices and crispy. The beef dip was also really flavourful and delicious. Our server was Mercede and she also contributed to a great experience. We will be back.

Very high prices with little attention to food quality. So much curb appeal but very little follow through lead to disappointment. To be clear the food was standard but the restaurant looked amazing! Take that how you would like.

Recently made a reservation and came here with my gf a bit on a whim. Ordered the rib eye steak, which was cooked wonderfully and tasted great! The Beef Short rib was a bit overcooked, but tasted relatively okay.

The real problem was the happy hour oysters, which unfortunately were some of the worst I have ever had in my life, and I wish I was incorrect with that assessment. Before I could say anything, my gf had already mentioned how it was not great. The oysters tasted as though they were not fresh, and whomever was doing the shucking did not seem to know how to do it, as there were loads of dirt and shell fragments inside. To add insult to injury, the 2 sauces were almost inedible, one of them extremely sour. (And they don't have small forks, and also neglected to bring over plates or tabasco until requested, so we wound up staring at our food for a while.)

At least our waitress was nice, apologized for the kitchen's poor performance, offered more oysters (which we politely declined) and took half of the oysters off our order.

The ball dessert was quite good, some sort of peanut butter chocolate ball that melts and is a nice shot for the gram. Impossible to eat it all yourself unless you have a huge sweet tooth.

Spoke with a few of my friends after that live in the area, and they echoed the same sentiments - I guess I should have asked them first. I'd certainly be back for some steak, but not for anything else.

Great service and great atmosphere! Our server Chelsea went above and beyond. Safe environment that we will 100% visit again!

Went in for happy hour at 4: 10 pm Feb. 26 and I was told without a reservation we would have to leave by 6 which was fine. Tried to order a $54 meal to go and was told it was order in only; the menu was called Dine Out Vancouver. Had the manager come over and she said it’s corporates rules and nothing she could do. Our server Mercede was awesome, but very poor management. Guess the promotion should have been called dine in only! Nothing on the menu said dine in only. Trying to keep local companies going; I guess business is too good!

Delicious brunch.except the waffle. Everyone at the table tried it and it was quite terrible! It was soooo dry like something was definitely definitely wrong. It was removed from my bill though.

Food was good. Service was good. Atmosphere was good. They need to turn the lights up a bit though. Could barely see the people at the table with me.

I have gone to this location a few times and usually the food is pretty good, and the service is always consistent. Unfortunately the past few times I have ordered through uber eats or skip the food has been poor quality. Last night I ordered a chicken sandwich and the chicken was under cooked and the calamari wasn't crispy and rather soggy. I didn't want to risk food poisoning so I had to throw the food in the compost.

Our server who looked like she was expecting was probably the best server we have had in a long time. Amazing woman. All the best to her.

Incredible customer service, everybody here is so friendly! The cook came out to talk to us and told us he would make sure our meals came out fresh. I love this place!

Nothing more than another chain restaurant you can have a casual night out with your special someone or a date night, would be so much better if a chain like this have a better protein share plank or seafood share plank but otherwise the food wasn't horrible, my $38 steak was ok and I left remembering how the house salad was the best part of my meal.

Atmosphere was good, great social distance procedures, felt safe there, food was awesome, and bill wasn't even half what we thought it was going to be

Happy hour for oysters were awesome and delicious. It paired up well with their several draught beers option. The bartender and waitresses were very friendly. We will definitely come back here again.

The service was great, they were unfortunately out of my first 2 beer choices but I went with budweiser for a third option which they did have and took off the bill. The chickpea fries were quite salty. I wasn't too concerned about it but he still took it off the bill. Which ended up offsetting the piece of shell we got in one of our lobster rolls.

Wasn't great. Some steaks were over cooked in our group. Over priced. Just mediocre to be honest. But the macaroni sticks are always amazing.

We love S+L Langley and living close by we go there every now and then for my favorite - Master Chicken. We also love the weekend brunch menu, those eggs Benny's and crispy potatoes and the coffee is really good!
We recently had a date night there and the top sirloin was perfect. Our server was Mercede and she was top notch at her job: kind pleasant, thoughtful and attentive. Some of the best service I've had. Thank you for operating in these challenging times and giving people a safe and fun place to eat great food!

The service was amazing as always. We had Lara, what an exemplary server! She was the best! Everyone was so friendly feom the front door until we left the restaurant. Food was prompt and hot and delicious. We had the potato pull apart appetizer and the hero wings appy- both were so very good! We both ordered the master chicken which was moist and very flavourful. House red wine was great too.
Can’t wait to go back and celebrate with friends at this warm and welcoming restaurant.
