Lovely secluded spot with spectacular views. A truly authentic experience with owners that cultivate comfort and uniqueness. The internet was a little spotty during our stay - which was just fine but just be prepared! I’m sure it’ll be sorted out soon.

Beautiful site and hosts. Yurts were clean and beds were comfy for our family of 4, including 2 teenage boys. Food is delicious! It was cold and rainy when we were there and they shared their collection of board games with us, complete with a bowl of Oreos & chips ahoy! Claude went out of his way to give us good info to make the most of our time there. 4 stars instead of 5 because a storm took out the power & water, but the Soule Creek team still kept us smiling!

Wanted to love it, not as advertised

There is no internet at the yurts. They are still on the Starlink wait list. It does work while in the lodge.

Our yurt wasn’t heated! We assumed the fireplace was also a heater but it’s for looks only. Asked where the heat was the next day after freezing so bad we had to go fetch other blankets of our own to be able to sleep. Apparently there should have been a heater. They found us an oil heater for the next night. We were not offered any compensation for this.

Carmanah hut is very poorly designed - If you are tall you will have to sit sideways on the toilet for your knees to fit. There is no way to open/close the clear plastic window covering over the screens from inside the yurt - there is also no way to hold the clear plastic part up and we had to jam it under the other covering. The shower temperature can only be adjusted from outside the shower. Doors are also push button locks and not very secure.

All the water smells and tastes strongly of chlorine. They give 2 small bottles of water (total per stay) to make coffee/tea in room or brush teeth.

They gave us robes for the hot tub which were comically small and fit neither of us (who normally wear small and medium size tops).

Food was really good, though their timing on busy days was not and a lot of it was cold.

Overall it was a nice area and the staff were nice, if disorganized.

It was such a unique experience staying in Yurt. It is very clean and spacious. Staff is super friendly. The view is phenomenal. Staff went for extra
miles to make our stay comfortable. We can’t thank you enough for their effort. Highly recommended.

Amazing! BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!
Location: 10/10
Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, top of a small mountain.

Views to Port San Juan and the rest of the area was amazing. Couldn’t have asked for more.

Price: 9/10
I’m from the mainland, so prices seemed a bit steep but after this experience I’m totally down going back!

If you’re a couple trying to have some quality time with each other, this is the perfect plqce!

What an awesome place to bring people from out of town. We had spectacular views and warm home cooked meal to start each day! Claude made a yummy frittata with salsa and potatoes the first day and delicious waffles and bacon for day two. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!

Really enjoyed our stay at Soule Creek Lodge and our Cheewhat Yurt. Staff were great, friendly and easy going, breakfast was delicious and we looked forward to it both mornings. A big thank you to Soule Creek and we will defiantly be back.

The drive in was very dicey at night as it is some distance from the main road with a few possible detours. I suggest throwing up a few more reflective signs along the way. Once you get there, the yurts were incredible. Need to try the outdoor hot tub next time.

I was very excited to stay here, having wanted to for quite awhile. Prior to going I saw reviews and am glad I did so my expectations were not as high.

Our yurt was clean, but with almost no view (not what was advertised). I do wish that scented washing soap or the like was not used on the sheets etc.because I found the aroma quite overpowering.

In general our stay was fine, but I think the care for it has slipped a bit. Breakfasts were fine, but not always warm or what one would expect from the website (some scrambled eggs, a bit if fruit, and a carb).

The water was a bit brown, similar to what I have experienced with wells that have had a large amount of input from rain runoff. We were glad we had brought water. The fridge is quite small and the tiny freezer portion was completely iced up.

I think the service industry is just burnt out, so I don’t know a solution here. I think that Soule Creek could be great, but is not so at the moment.

We stayed in Bayview room. THE WATER IS NOT DRINKABLE! There has been a constant water boil advisory in effect as I found out after looking at the water and researching it. We came with a 2 year old and 7 month old.really glad we had some bottled water with us to wash her bottles etc. They also provide you coffee in the morning for the coffee maker but no water to make it with? They didn't tell us when we checked in that the water wasn't drinkable.or that the satellite wasn't working. The staff was pleasant but when I asked them about each of those on separate occasions, the response I got was ‍️ Ya sorry can't help you. The room was not clean when we got there. Had new sheets it appears but there was a water bottle lid on the counter, bookmark from Victoria on the dresser and and nice big clump of hair in the shower drain. Floor mat was hung up in the shower like it had been used and coffee grounds on the floor by the fridge. Sheets were stained, outside on the grounds everything is overgrown. Had an ok view but not as good as it implied. The staff live upstairs and when they get up at 6 to make breakfast presumably.you get woken up by them and their dog as the house and beds are very creaky. No complaints about the wifi. Some beautiful wooden carved walls on the property. Breakfast was OK. They say 830am sharp but it was at least 15 mins later every day. Eggs and 2 pieces of bacon for breakfast with some fruit and pancakes or croissant. Not bad but smaller portions. There are so many little things that could be done to enhance the stay.it doesn't live up to the hype on the website. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

We stayed in the Tanglewood Cabin,
We were given good information about getting back to Port Renfrew as the Pub was the only place we could get a meal and it was due to close soon.
The road is definitely rough and more so in the dark.
There were lots of notices on the walls of our cabin but not one about the password for the WiFi and no answer to the bell at the front desk.
I had booked Soule Creek for my husband's 70th Birthday, and because it included a cooked breakfast, which is something he loves, we picked up our baskets the first morning and were delighted with our breakfasts.
However the second morning was a nightmare, we weren't the only people looking for our promised breakfast and they had been waiting longer than us.
No one answered the bells.
No one spoke to any of us and they haven't answered my queries.
Do not stay there if you want to eat.

It once was a great lodge with fine dining but the original owners sold it and left due to Covid.
The new owners is the local Indian band and they are letting the place fall apart.
No more dining and only a simple hot breakfast is dropped off to your room.
The water is very yellow even after using a Brita water filter.
At best this is now a bed&breakfast stay.
The internet is very slow and was down 1 day of our 4 day stay in August.
The place is quite isolated and boring so you need to drive to places of interest.
Will not visit Port Renfrew again.

I emailed to inquire about a couple things of basic questions not covered in this FAQ. They sent me a blank reply that contained the form I had submitted. Thinking this was an accident, I responded asking if they meant to write me back. That was 4 weeks ago now and the dates I was looking to book are gone. Guest service must not be their forte. I’m thankful to have avoided this property.

Less than 1! A really disappointing stay.

I made a booking for 4 (me and my husband and my 2 daughters (4.5 years and 10months) and they will put a bed for my oldest daughter.
When I arrived, it was written that I made a booking for one, no note for the extra bed!
So she slept on the floor!

No need to talk about the horrible breakfast either.

0 ustensiles or plates or bowls in the room and 0 open restaurant in Port Renfrew

We enjoyed our stay at Soule creek lodge. We stayed in the Cheewat yurt, the yurt it self was beautiful. We were disappointed that we had no view (clearly stated we would have a ocean view).

The beds were really comfortable. The breakfast was good although we didn't receive one on our second day, (cook didn't show up).

The lodge definitely needs some attention.

Port Renfrew is absolutely beautiful. We saw some amazing beaches and old growth, also did some great hikes!

Bring food as everything closes down really early, or doesn't even open.

All in all we had a good time.

I was extremely disappointed with this place.

For the amount you pay, I expected at the bare minimum a clean room:
- washroom garbage can was left on the bathroom sink with garbage still in it
- no towels provided
- brown water in the pipes
- dirty towels were left in the bath tub
- all windows and patio door left unlocked and wide open
- not sure if bedding was clean - there were stains on them

The only thing good about this place was the breakfast - we had eggs, bacon, pancakes and some fruit and yogurt. Tasty breakfast but not worth the price tag or unclean room (especially during COVID).

Words fail to describe how special this place is!

We (1 adult and 2 kiddos) stayed in the Qaliyit yurt (Salish Sea), which is nicely secluded and offers incredible views.
Spacious and cozy. Loved the dome top for star gazing. Even during a heat wave, it was nice and cool at night.

With Covid restrictions in place, a delicious hot picnic breakfast was provided in lovely baskets. Food was delicious.

Get ready for a bumpy drive up the hill - but it’s worth it!

Really enjoyed our mountain getaway! The yurts are spacious and fun alternative to cabins or hotels. Really enjoyed the breakfast every morning ‍

Ideal location and friendly staff but sadly quite often one is unable
to see the view due to the clouds. The lodge has seen better days. It Definitely needs some TLC. Our first breakfast was just granola and fruit but the second day was a full hot breakfast.

My mom and I had our birthdays shared together here! It was absolutely wonderful we had a great hot tub overlooking sunset a delicious breakfast on the patio of our beautiful yurt would definitely go back!

Great spot tucked up and away. I was worried about the bathroom and shower situation but they are attached to the yurt with modern shower, toilet just like home and have good hot water

It’s so nice to stay at a place where the owners take so much pride, and inject so much love into their service. Very grateful for everything about this wonderful experience.

I was so excited for my first stay in a yurt as we were driving through the thick forest smoke towards Port Renfrew. After 5 days of camping, a shower, bed and dip in the hot tub held a lot of appeal, on top of the luxurious yurts I had seen on the website. When we arrived the host met us with the unfortunate news that the shower in our yurt wasn't working. She offered us two options to get around this: use the cabin across the road to shower, or stay in the cabin instead. We went to take a look at each accommodation option, and the cabin won us over. The yurt's interior was a little lack luster compared to the photos I had seen ahead of time – and the cabin had a full deck with a view. And a working shower! So we packed our belongings into the cabin. As my boyfriend went to report our choice back to the host, she came knocking and told me she was very sorry she hadn't told us before, but the cabin was actually $40 more a night. We couldn't quite believe that. Usually if something is awry with your booking, you get an upgrade. And since we were going to use the shower in the cabin anyway, they were not going to be able to offer it to other guests. But there was no budging on this, so we packed our things back into the car and then into the yurt. The yurt was comfortable enough, but very simple and with details such as open snaking extension cords that took away from the romance of it. The WIFI didn't work well at all, and there is no cell phone data in Port Renfrew so we had trouble dealing with some last minute unexpected trip cancelletions. I had also looked forward to a dip in the hot tub once we were settled in, but it was closed because of COVID-19. In our later travels a hotel had solved the transmission risk by making the hot tub bookable and cleaning it in between sessions. I would have loved to see that here too. The next morning when I went to get our breakfast from the lodge, another host came down to meet me and said they had talked our situation through and had decided to offer us the cabin without additional cost. We did appreciate that they came around to that, but overall the experience wasn't great.

If you choose to stay in Port Renfrew, this is a neat, quirky experience. Very clean. Amazing location if you have the right weather. We did

I feel like I have to start this review by saying that I am not their targeted client. I'm not one to go out in wooded areas to relax. I was in town for a photoshoot on the beach and needed a place to stay for the night. Soule Creek was in the right area and had great prices.

All that said, the folks at Soule Creek surpassed my expectations. They were super friendly and accommodating. I had a room in the lodge and it was very comfortable with a lovely view. I didn't use the hot tub, but I thought it was a nice amenity. Breakfast came with the room and was delicious! I don't know if it changes daily but ours was french toast, eggs any style, bacon, fruit and a mini smoothie. Way better than any hotel breakfast I've ever had.

Since I was in the area for work, I think I was coming and going more than their average customers and the path to and from the main road is rough. I dreaded driving through the steep graveled path every time I left. I know it would cost an unbelievable amount to get it paved, so I understand. It's just something to think about when booking. My little Honda could make it but it took some concentration.

Would absolutely recommend this place if you want to stay in Port Renfrew!

Soule Creek Lodge was a very enjoyable place to stay in the Port Renfrew area. We stayed in the Kanata Suite (in the main lodge) and it was absolutely great. The bed was huge and so comfortable (perfect after a long day of hiking!) The owners provide a fresh hot breakfast every morning (bacon, eggs, waffles). Not only was it really tasty but also so convenient- it allowed us get a lot of energy before starting our activities for the day. It also has amazing views and a calm ambience. Last but definitely not least - I forgot my laptop there and the staff shipped it back to me in Vancouver as soon as possible. These people really care that their guests have the best possible experience. Nice people and outstanding accommodations!

Quaint, quiet, friendly owners and one of the best places to stay on Vancouver Island. We stayed in the Cheewhat Yurt, which included a bathroom, shower, microwave, kettle, and a wonderfully comfortable king bed.

We were surprised by a hot tub located near the main lodge, and it made for a great time on a cool night to watch the stars. We didn't have dinner with them (I'm sure it would have been great) but opted to heat up some soup in our yurt. Breakfast was included, which was all home cooked in their amazing lodge - you'll wait overlooking the mountains while the chef is more than willing to accommodate your food requests. He made a great meal with pancakes, fruit, eggs, and a smoothie.some fresh coffee as well and we were ready to hike for the day.

The Botanical Beach is right nearby which is a huge plus. Be aware of the rather steep gravel/dirt driveway going up to the lodge, perhaps not best for some older vehicles but with some speed you'll make it!

Their dog Finn was very cute, he was the king of the castle there. He's a bit apprehensive of people, but he's a rescue and shows affection in his own dorky way. He's there to greet you, and also to say goodbye!

We'd definitely stay here again when we visit Vancouver Island! If I could give more than 5 stars I would:)
