Sport Chek

Today I went in to purchase a pair of workout shoes for the gym. The model I wanted (that I have previously purchased) wasn't available on the display. The customer service staff were busy helping other customers, but I was able to catch the attention of one young man once I found a couple of pairs I was interested in. His name is Kash. I was impressed with his knowledge and level of helpfulness. It turned out that, based on my shape of foot, he pursuaded me in a different direction, but he wasn't able to find the right size. Then I started to describe the type of shoe that I had previously purchased, and he was able, right away, to name the brand and model – he said that a shipment just came in that morning and that it would take a while, but he could dig around until he found my size. That's exactly what he did, which took a lot of extra effort on his part – I am really impressed. He could have avoided the extra work by pretending not to know, but instead, he went the extra mile. Kash, thank you – you will go far in this life!

I"m giving this 5 stars as I had a bit of a problem today returning some hiking boots. I had no order number as I ordered on line and for some reason I had no Email with an order number. They hummed and hawed and had a couple of upper staff members come to try and figure it all out. There was no way I wanted to keep an item that did not fit me. Finally, I presume, a manager gave me a refund. Yeah! I will be ordering again online to get my right size. Thanks for making it right Sportchek and maybe an order number could be included in or on the package when you receive the item? Just an idea. The staff were friendly and polite.

Decent sports stuff, pricy clothes, and changerooms are so weird because usually there is no one there to help you out so you have to walk around the store looking for someone.

Terrible service,

Went for runners, sat and watched 2 staff members chit chat with each other watching me look around boxes for the right size. Ended up not finding the boxes so took the shoes up to the front checkout and requested the size I was after… the clerk radioed the shoe department to meet me at my pair I was interested in…. So I go back and the 2 employees continued to chit chat and clearly notice me waiting. So I I continue to watch them and hear all about there personal conversation… anyways I took the single shoe back up front a second time as I was walking up front, one of the 2 chit chatters decided to stop the personal conversation and followed me back up to the front. I looked directly at the front staff, placed the single shoe down at the front door and walked out…. Good service is hard to find…. Sport check you lost a customer, and I will not return to a store that does not care… your money is your vote!

This store is trash doesn't ever have anything in stock. Go on there website 90% besides children stuff out of stock or never had. There selection is garbage also to get any help is difficult. Also no goalie stuff only ever two sticks nothing two sticks is prettymuch they carry. During lacrosse season all the lacrosse stuff could fit on a end of a isle. This "sports" store is more of a clothing store. Rather drive hr to Nanaimo store or go to source for sports. Actually just go to source for sports anywhere in the world if ur looking for equipment of any sport. But its a ok clothing store. 1 star sport store 3 star clothing store cause thats all it pretty much is.

I was in Sun Jan 16th between 2-3pm, i must say thank you to the young man trying to help me, he was polite, knew his stuff (shoe shopping i was) and honest, thank you very much even though i left empty handed lol (by choice)

I had such an amazing experience here, Fiona was an awesome cashier, was super nice and helped answered all my questions!

I like sport check for the goods, but not the the prices.lol I guess I'm thrifty and 125 dollars for sweat pants and a hoodie, makes me want to shop somewhere else.

Went in to get some shoes one person was working in the shoe department everybody else seem to be an expert at avoiding eye contact or coming within earshot of me, so I couldn't get anyone's attention. Try to find the pair of shoes I was looking for on my own but couldn't find them, so went to shoe store by Superstore found where I found what I was looking for.

Had really terrible experience at this location. Staff (mostly teenagers) were disinterested in helping anyone. I was almost afraid to ask for a size, coz the guy helping me made it sound like he was doing me a massive favour. I bought a pair, but I wanted to really walk in the shoes before taking them home, so I walked in parking lot outside the store for 5-10 mins, didn't like the shoes, so decided to take them back and get the another pair. Same guy came off so condescending when I went back into store like I did some sort of crime. I told him I walked in the shoes and didn't like it. I told him to get me another pair (different brand), he told me I can't return the shoes now, gave me the pair anyway and then ran off to front counter to tell on me, like I was gonna lie there or something. It was a belittling experience, only star goes to the manager who was understanding and okayed the return. No more shopping at this store for me. I'd rather shop online or Mark's.

Low stock, no one around to help ever. If you ask if they have something in a different size or colour you get a "you can always check online" better off making the trip to Nanaimo or just shop online I guess.

I've had a similar experience the last 3 times I've been in. The staff seems like a bunch of teenagers who just want to hang out with each other rather than do their jobs. Openly having personal conversation in front of me while I wait to have their attention. I've had a problem at the checkout every single time, where I have had to tell the employee how to do my sale.ie I was returning an item, and she "sold" it to me at regular price and returned it at the sale price I bought it for and then tried to charge me the difference, rather than refund the full amount for an item that I've already paid for.

Absolutely awful customer service. Everyone we came into contact with seemed miserable. You're in a service industry.at least put a LITTLE effort in.

This location seems to only sell left over sizes.so if you are a sizes small men or a triple x then i guess this is the place for you.poor management on keeping stock current

Small sport check locations are always hit or miss. Especially if you are a common size as those sell out first. Prefer the bigger locations but this is all Courtney has so will have to do.

Service was poor nobody offered or checked to see if I needed service, had to ask for a bag and then given used ripped bag. Wow seriously!

Super friendly and helpful. Gordy helped out with a problem with a product and went above and beyond.

Happily went christmas shopping at sport chek but sadly that happiness turned misserable very quickly, I was followed around and asked if I needed help 3 X in the ten minutes I was there by the same staff member! I felt stalked, will never shop here again!

Took my skiis in for a iron on waxing. Good job. Quick turn around.what impressed me was the security and controls surrounding picking up your skiis to ensure that only you get your skiis back

Took a while to get any staff attention.
Staff seemed uninterested in helping customers and annoyed to work.
All staff walking around with headphones in their ears makes it difficult to ask for help.
Needed to repeat myself several times to several different employees.
Would recommend just shopping their store online.

Outstanding Staff and Tech crew the guys in the ski snowboard area reqlly knew their stuff and helped me get all "set up" for the season and the Tech guys has some great tips for waxing and repairs on my old stuff! Wouldn't mind seeing better gear in Stock considering it's the largest ski/snow outfitter nearest to a ski resort? 4/5

Alex in the tech shop did a great job of getting me set up with some skates. He was very knowedgable and gave me honest information about the different brands, styles and price points. I am really happy with my purchase.

The salesman lied to me about when the sale ended in order to pressure me into buying a bike that same day. Not a good way to do business.
