Second season back at this stores. Came in to get one kid a new pair of boots and for the other one new ski for his current boots so a bit I mix and match but the staff was wonderful and patience and got us going in less than 30 min. Shop downstairs was also amazing and got us all set in 40 min. Sheldon the dog was also super helpful in keeping the kids entertained! Definitely recommend!
Good, local shop to explore for quality HH, slightly used ski jackets. I was very fortunate to find a one season old ski jacket in pristine condition for under $ 200. Also tuned up two pairs of skis for $120, it included hand applied hot wax and edge sharpening. Timely and precise service.
I go there for repairing my bikes at least once a year. I would say the stuffs of bicycle are perfect. They are so nice so efficient and the price is very reasonable!
Love sports junkies. They got a wide variety of things lots of selection. They got a upstairs and downstairs. Must have a ID to show inorder to sell to sports junkies. Due to construction of the subway There is no parking directly outfront but there is parking around the area. The closest bus stop to here is on Ontario street
Pulled a rookie move and forgot ID when I went in to sell a few things, took me 2 hours transit to get there and back, had proof of who I was on my phone and could verify items sold previously, was very rudely shunned away using profanity and attitude, zero core values.edit: they responded with bylaw info, I’ve established that prior, there is no excuse for swearing rudely at customers
I went in looking for a part for a bike pump that hasn't been sold on years. The guy spent about 10 minutes digging around in the back until he found the part I needed! Gotta give props to a person willing to spend the time, and a store that has parts for old and obscure bikes and bike accessories.
Amazing store! They have so much sports equipment available and for very good prices. There were tons of used bikes with the cheapest I saw starting at $120. I only bought a bike lock and bell here but everyone I spoke to was super helpful. Would definitely recommend!
Shopped here only twice and both times when I got home I noticed what I purchased was broken. Was out of town for a week and lost returnablity on the first and am now leaving the country again and losing returnablity on the second product. FML. Not 1 star because the guys upstairs are good and the inventory is actually quite good.
Friendly service as usual, free adjustment on my bike, honest quotes on parts and labor with no obligation or pressure. Also referred me to another shop to try for a bike part I was looking for.
Today i have decided not to consider this place ever in the future for any kind of products or services because of the horrible experience I had today. I was trying to sell my bike here. I had called in earlier to check and get an idea of how the prices are quoted, but got nothing, not even a hint. I rode 10km only to be quoted less than 2% of the price I paid for the bike last year and is hardly used. I'm not blaming them for that, what they quote is totally thier business and its thier wish, which is fine. But they could have given me an idea over the phone earlier that this is the maximum they usually do and saved me my time. If this is the max price they offer, why make me ride 10km and ask for the purchase receipt? Extremely poor at customer interaction and valuing the customer's time. Also, this guy was rude. His exact words when I accidentally stepped into the office space was "Stay outside! ". Good luck running a business keeping such people as staff.
Bought my first bike here yesterday. Walked in as a total bike newbie; online research was too overwhelming. Zack and Connor gave me a crash course on bike basics. Showed me options that suited my needs. Explained differences between materials/design/models. Respected my budget and didn’t try to upsell me. Awesome customer service. This is now my go-to sports store. Thanks guys!
Was looking for a new bike to get back into riding after a stint off the saddle.
The staff in Sports Junkies we're incredibly helpful when helping me select a bile. After a few days I nooced that the brakes and front derraileur need tuning slightly. Called the shop an when I went in they offered to get it done there and then. 10 minutes later it was ready to go
Things here are reasonably priced for the new stuff, I found the used equipment to be more expensive than they should be. But overall, the selection is great and the staff are very helpful
I bought a bike that was supposed to be delivered the next day. I went to the store to pick up the bike the next day not knowing I had to get a call from them first, and I received the most unprofessional and rude response from the manager on duty just because of that. I hang around for 3 hours for them to finish the bike, but it felt like they were punishing me on purpose. I ended up returning the item (without even receiving the bike) and bought a ready to ride bike from a store across the street. I love the store but seems like you need to train better your staff specially the manager that should be there to solve this kind of issues.
Lots of selection and usually some good steals but also a lot of stuff that I don't think is worth the time. Awesome when you can find some actual used, well-priced, items but is becoming more brand name items at small discount or used items that are too expensive
Went to sell some snow sport apparel and other items, based on suggestion from friends. The person that “bought” a piece of my gear is someone like the typical Facebook or Craigslist lowballer. They obviously enjoy talking down the value of anything and everything. It was one of the slimiest experiences I’d ever had with any business in-person. For example, they offered $20 for a ski pants that was in literally mint condition that would easily sell (secondhand) for $160-180, it cost almost $500 new.
And to top it off, they “by mistake” didn’t return an item that they didn’t want to buy. I had to call to ask where it was and why they held on to it, after I’d left the store. They just said “oh I forgot to give it back”. I thought it was dishonest and disgusting behaviour.
Donate your gear, or even put it in the trash rather than sell to this place. At least that way you won’t have to experience the sliminess and disgust. After this experience, I wouldn’t recommend any interaction at all with this business.
—— Response to the “owner’s comments” Where an item is in mint/as new condition, and in my perspective good value at $160-180 second hand, yes; perhaps your perspective on quality and value is different to mine.
Don’t say you apologize and then proceed to effectively not, it’s sad. Just like the dishonest behaviour I experienced at your store that shared that I thought slimy and disgusting.
This is my last response and interaction with your business.
My very first time in the store. I am in the market to buy a commuter bike. I went upstairs and saw two ladies, one bike mechanic, one guy talking to the bike mechanic and another younger guy chatting with the two ladies. I was the only customer upstairs. The bike selection and prices were amazing. I found the bike I was interested in. I looked around for anybody that could help me. One of the ladies walked by me and looked right into my eyes as i was standing next to the bike without even saying a hello. After a few minutes, it was very evident to me that nobody was interested in helping me at all. To make sure, I wandered over to the bike mechanic and guy at the bike counter. They saw me browsing slowly and completely ignored me never once even acknowledging my existence. They proceeded to chat about some vacation. After about 20 minutes, I decided to leave. It really is a shame that a store with that amazing of a selection of bikes has employees that could care less. I ended up walking across the street and purchasing a bike from a bike shop where the employees actually seemed interested in helping me. I will let my family and friends know to avoid Sports Junkies.
The staff were quite helpful and obviously cared a lot about their trade. Selection was pretty low for skis right now, which is unsurprising considering the time of year. Looking forward to shopping here again.
Unfortunately I cannot shop at this store any longer. I had a major malfunction with a ski binding that could have ended in catastrophic injury. When I brought the skis in I was told that they will not help me out at all. $375 down the drain in 10 days of skiing. One staff member was decent but they should look into having conflict resoultion training for the other staff member who needlessly became antagonistic. Look elsewhere for your gear and steer clear of sport junk on Broadway.
Nice staff. They are helpful and friendly.however, the prices are high. If you are looking for a second hand ski, look at the market place on Facebook.
I brought a pair of broken touring ski boots in after being told by multiple other shops that they could not be fixed. The techs at sports junkies were able to fix them, saving me big $$ as I was otherwise looking at having to get a new pair. Excellant service and quality work, thank you!
Was looking for a cheaper options for first time snowboarding gears. Good ones weren't cheap at and the bad ones were still more expensive than expected.
Left my bike for a tune up. Told them that the tires are tubeless. They somehow damage the taping and refuse to fix it. Had to get it fix somewhere else.
Sold and purchased a snowboard, bindings and boots over the weekend. The person who helped me in the snowboarding department was extremely helpful and very informative. He was educated me on all of the options available and recommendations of which may be best, without trying to upsell. Prices for new/used gear are super affordable, prices they'll buy gear at are reasonable and they set everything up for you. Highly recommend!
I have been to Sport Junkies in a long time. At least this location. Usual assortment of used sports goods. Some in better shape than others. Lots of kids bikes, some that have seen better day but still have some life left. I liked their old pricing tags better where an item price would reduce by the date.
Good selection, some of the staff at the end if the say were rude and u don't usually buy things when staff are like that because it sends the message that its ok to treat its customers like they are less than. Not a very smart way to run a business guys.
I bought a fantastic bike at this location over a year ago. I decided to take the same bike back for a tune-up as it was needed.
The guys working in the bike department were dismissive, overly unconcerned/casual about my questions/needs, and worst of all - I left paying $100 for a bike that still had issues after said tune-up.
I called to try and rectify the situation with zero success.
I had to take my bike to a shop across the street - pay another $100, and finally have a correct tune-up done.
Strongly discourage using the bike dept.for any bike related issues!
I picked up some rental snowboarding gear for last season and experienced such lovely, warm and caring service! Holly went above and beyond helping me find the right fighting gear and also matched in colour! Thank you so much, I had the best time boarding this year!
This is a super cool store. Lots of variety and plenty of deals if you look in the right places. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get started in a new sport. The tunes are always great in the store too.
Two of their staff brushed by me with little regard for social distancing or common courtesy. Dangerous and completely avoidable and, frankly rude AF. Oh, and speaking of dangerous, the ceiling looks like it’s going to cave in at any second. Avoid if value your safety, and just browse Craigslist for way better deals.
Awesome service! We went in the afternoon today and the guys there in the snowboarding department were super helpful with getting me set up with my first snowboard, boots, and bindings. You could tell they were just super passionate about snowboarding in general and were so friendly and approachable with explaining what to look for when it comes to the gear. Thank you so much!
They have a great selection of items which makes it easier than looking around craigslist etc. However I had a really bad experience with them- I bought skis and boots, left them to get binded, and then took them to Whistler. When I got on the mountain the boots didn't fit into the skis, and I ended up wasting 3 hours on a one-day lift ticket that cost $200 by coming down the mountain and having to rent another pair for another $70. I had specifically asked them if the boot would fit the ski when I bought it, obviously. I talked to one manager, Steph, on the phone and she was great and even offered compensation for the rental. But when I came in I was questioned by the other manager for half an hour and at the end told it wasn't their fault. Ended up returning everything out of frustration and won't be back again.
The staff at Sport Junkies have always been incredibly helpful with purchases made and accommodating with any issues I have had with my sport equipment. Always pleasant, and the service is above and beyond. I cannot recommend this store enough! I will always come here first!
There is an awesome selection of all sorts of great here: I expected that going in. What surprised me was that there was also a decent selection of new equipment and services that I didn't realize that they did such as bike maintenance and ski/snowboard rentals. We came to get some snowboard equipment for growing kids and ended up with not only snowboard great (new helmets and the like), but found a good price on a new bike for the oldest as well. The folks working in the snow equipment are and bikes were super friendly and helpful to boot.
THE STAFF HERE ARE AMAZING! I am rather new to the world of skiing and winter sports but I was treated with so much respect and patience. Got fit up with skiis, boots and bindings for a very affordable price. Ben in technician went above and beyond to make my experience fun and easy. Very personable and professional service. Would 10/10 go back.
Everybody was super nice upstairs! But as soon as it hit 6pm downstairs they came up to us and said the tills are closed and forcing us to either purchase or leave! Not to even give a heads up and let us finish looking at what’s in our hands. “But now we’re closed so. ” points at the door Over all a good store but some rude employees.
Very friendly and knowledgeable employees! They we're happy to explain different types of snowboards and gave me tips and advice. Got me set up and good to go very quick!
I used to swear by Sports Junkies and it is such a shame to see the service quality plummet as it has. I left my board for a simple hand wax and they gave it back chipped and with scratch marks all over my board's topsheet. I also witnessed an employee tumble down four boards (including two of our boards) and not even bother picking them up and apologizing. If you want cheap and negligent service, definitely go here. I will not be coming back to service my board. Shame because the folks upstairs in the snowboard section are amazing and really helpful. Buy a board here and just don't come back if you want to maintain it.
Great place to go for used gear. Just wish their service was better. Lots of people working, just not a lot that want to help or provide good customer service.
Bought a tennis racket here a year ago and is still holding up. Minimal selection of base layers. Nice to come here once in a blue moon. Cashiers could act less dead and have less attitude.
Don't try to sell anything here without dealing with another store first. The people working upstairs will try to hustle you for the lowest price possible. My dad has been here it's always the same bs. I tried to sell a pair of ski boots and the short guy with little man syndrome tried to embarrass me infront of the other staff for no reason at all. Very unprofessional. Said the boots weren't mine and that I'm not aloud in the store! Was my 1st time ever stepping foot in there and will be my last. Pocket hulk F you.
Great selection of equipment and clothes. I have bought really good boots at a good price. However, prices are not necessary fair I realized MEC has cheaper new products than second hand stuff in there. Do your research before buying here.
I haven't shopped at sports junkies for a long time - returned this weekend to find mostly new items and prices that I could find elsewhere. What happened to the wicked deals on consignment items?
Alright place if you want equipment that doesnt fit. Staff were more worried about their cell phones then to fit you properly. Left because the gear was looking very used and weathered.
The name suits the store. It is for junkies.and this isnt a compliment. You can find brand new stuff for same price in an authentic store.complete garbage, and I literally wasted my time going here.
Walked in looking for shoes. Instantly profiled as a theif and asked to leave my bag at the front. I see women walking around with bags and purses and other men with bags on. Don't go here. The stuff is overpriced for used gear and the staff here are pretty much unhelpful. The store looks like a mess and unorganized. Pay cheaper prices and buy from next door for new stuff.
My kid got turned away from selling his ski boots- by a worker upstairs, he resembles as a short pocket hulk. Very rude. He looked down on my kid like he's nothing, as if he has the greatest of jobs. He said my kid is not aloud in the store- my son said it was his first time ever being in the store. He then threw up his hands in disbelief. Need new staff asap
This place is good for rentals but never talk to the staff upstairs. Extremely rude. I was looking at some used skis and had few questions, but they tried ignore me. Finally got a staff member to help me out but she was extremely rude and spoke down to me as if I was there to steal something. I am visible minority and hope that is not the reason they were being rude.
Worst store ever stupid people work here tell you they buy something travel to the store and then be told they dont buy it yet would rather buy something from a junkie on the street then ever go to this store again
Decent service. One lady stood out and gave exceptional, friendly service with selling goggles, kudos to her. Try going here first if you're a first time snowboarder/skier, you never know what you gear you might find.
Review for ski rental: disappointment. Called in the week to explain I was looking for ski rental for Sunday and Monday. Told no problem just drop by. Go in and they had nothing left! Left scrambling last minute to find gear elsewhere
Absolutely love this place. Just took my snowboard and skis in for a tune up and it was done easily and cheaply, and the guy working the snowboard desk fixed my bindings for free. Champion. They have gear for cheap (second hand) and it's totally reasonably priced. Give it a crack lads and ladies
