Beautiful place but over the years I've grown dissatisfied with the service here. The opening hours make it difficult to utilize this place given its right down the road from my son's preschool, which his pickup is 350 and this place closes at 430. At 10 minutes of closing a staff member started turning off the lights on the fixtures while I was still shopping and another staff member informed me they were closing in 5 minutes. Neither offered to help us find what we are looking for. Seems like the staff there just don't care. The cafe hours make it impossible for me to use as well. Would be appropriate to match the cafe hours to the general hours of the center.

Nice place to visit. It was last Summer when I visited, they had gorgeous views and great little cafe serving amazing food and drinks.
I don't know why they are closed temporarily, but great place to stop by when opened.

The location is about 40 minutes' drive from Vancouver. The venue is safe and reliable and suitable for all ages.

A must stop in Squamish to grab a nice coffee, shop or browse through one of the most amazing gift shops with such rich Canadian and indigenous souvenirs.

The architecture of the building is very special. Clean washrooms, a nice theatre to learn about indigenous culture and much more to see.

Am more than 3 years late writing this review but better late than never. The review is for the lovely souvenir and coffee shops at this place.

I used to collect magnets for the fridge from cities wife and I travelled to. From the souvenir shop inside this centre, we purchased a couple of items and forgot them at the store itself. This was during the good ol' pre covid days.

An year later, when we were driving to Whistler, we stopped for a latte here (which is awesome btw) and went into the souvenir shop again. As we purchased another magnet and went to the register to pay, we narrated our previous experience out of amusement to the lady at the register.

To our utter amazement, the lady at the register opened a drawer, and with a big smile, pulled out a small package with our previous purchase! She literally kept it neatly packed for more than an year if we ever came back!

We were blown away that someone would be so considerate!

Unfortunately I can't recollect the lady's name as it's been a while but since I stopped again last week at Squamish, I realized this review is long overdue.

Stop by here for fab coffee, lovely folks and amazing hospitality!

Terrible service quality. Staff were not kind. I was about to take a long-distance bus and I needed to use the bathroom before they close the facility. They did not allow me to use it even though I asked so several times. Wifi did not work either.

I was incredibly impressed by the level of customer service from the folks in the gift shop. I purchased one of the topo maps yesterday 8/17 and not only was the guy running the shop helpful he MADE a box for it so it would survive my road trip back the Texas. The girl who worked there was also incredibly friendly and welcoming. Great experience!

It’s the most jaw dropping, board hopping, joy popping, muscle chopping and airdropping experience I’ve done. 10/10

Amazing place in Squamish for a perfect break during a road trip. You get a good snack to address your hunger, the souvenir shop is amazing, clean washrooms and plenty of scenic views around. The staff is extremely friendly.

We were pleasantly surprised by this place. It was the perfect spot for us to grab coffee, breakfast, and some local souvenirs in the gift shop. Definitely a good stop for tourists like us!

It was lovely to take a break at the cafe after a day up in the mountains. We enjoyed the ube (purple yam) pie and date square along with our drinks. It seems that locals frequent the cafe too.

Nice place with coffee shop, a small shop and information centre and clean facility for the visitors. The bus stops to surrounding locations and attractions also is there. The bus stop to Vancouver and YVR also is there.

We passed by this delightful place on the our way back from vacation. The service was fantastic, with the people behind the counter taking the time to explain what the items were even though there was a line. It felt personal and helpful. I got the beet latte (surprisingly delightful? !) and we sat outside and enjoyed the view. Would visit again while in the area! Wished I lived nearby so I could visit more often

Easy to find but a strange entrance off the main road. Limited parking that may be an issue in the summer weekends. Decent number of pamphlets and guide books and the staff was helpful. Nice little gift shop with some unique items. Coffee shop with treats.

Bookers beware
Imagine: 62 yr old exhausted F traveller with confirmed (0nline, by phone and by email) two week booking refused accommodations and put out on street that night after gruelling 20 hr journey across 3 countries.
After 8 days I still am looking.

Don’t misunderstand. The 2 star overall rating was because it is a great hostel with great vibe but new manager is 0 stars and unfortunately for the moment he is running the place. He couldn’t find my double-confirmed booking on arrival and treated me poorly.
I’d stayed there for weeks before and when I was looking for a secure haven to end my long gruelling trip and have a
a safe base while I get set up in Squamish, I knew this was the place I could count on. I planned as carefully as humanly possible, booked three weeks ahead and called/ confirmed directly with the establishment later to avoid any unpleasant surprises. Unfortunately the new manager and new staff had just come on. With my digital confirmation and welcome message from the hostel in hand, just landing after a very ‘bumpy’ 20 hour plane journey ending with my checked luggage being lost and as a result, my reserved (last) bus back to Squamish missed, (I paid over $100 at that pt to get to my reserved accommodations) how I was (or wasn’t) received was a brutal shock. I waited for one hour for them to sort things out on their end but in the end they still refused me, with no apology or explanation, saying that they were full. When I protested and asked for an explanation the manager asked me to leave. When I said I couldn’t manage bags alone had nowhere to go, it was late, I was exhausted etc.he responded by threatening to call police.
After refusing to let me arrange alternative accommodations by using the hostel wifi which I required to make calls the terrible new manager Dave did agree to help me carry my bags across the highway to a fast food outlet to use wifi there instead. He left me there and later sent an cancellation email’ ‘ sorry to see you go, which I had not generated and followup letter confirming cancellation simply saying that I ‘was not a good fit’. This was completely arbitrary and ridiculous, as I had stayed there before with no issue. In this case I was upset, by the mistakes, which clearly he wanted to hide from other guests and staff, but I had done nothing wrong. He had a full house and my reservation, legitimate or not, was clearly regarded as nothing but a nuisance to him. There was no yelling, screaming, swearing or other inappropriate behaviour, although I FELT like screaming. Yet when I asked why he would threaten to call police he claimed that I ‘aggressive’. I believe I was only asserting that with my confirmed one month reservation in hand I deserved an apology, explanation, help with finding shelter for the night and attempt to get me in as soon as possible.
He offered to give a name of place I could look up. I was already aware of names of businesses in Squamish, and unfortunately in mid-summer, affordable rentals are very expensive and difficult to find. This is why I’d booked the hostel (which he insisted I call ‘a hotel’?) ahead. When I instead was ‘booted to the street’ fortunately when I found wifi for a call I reached a friend who agreed to rescue me for the night at least.

Bookers beware! New manager name is Dave Williams and hopefully he will be replaced soon. The good news is that managers there change frequently. The other ones I’ve met there over the years were all much better.

Years past this was Peter MaKay Motors. Bought my first auto there 1974 Mustang. Tall arabic type used car salesman. 500 bucks i think? No idea what besides tourist pamphlets this pkace offers. Coffee shop was subpar.

Great little gift shop, and tons of info about the surrounding area. If you're not familiar with the area, there are quite a few gems the staff here can help point out.

The neatest visitor centre I've ever visited. Truly reflects the history and vibes of Squamish. Where else would you see a giant bear in a kiosk helping people?
11 September 2020 9:06
We rent a bike to go around and they were the perfect option. Nice vibes and energy from the staff.
29 August 2020 23:26
Great cafe! Great area for walking and enjoying the local floral and fauna! Family friendly and shade spots accessible.
16 August 2020 9:35
Very friendly, helpful staff! We had a blast, using their advice, the adventure brochure and the craft tasting passport!
16 June 2020 12:08
Interesting modern architecture for a visitor centre with glass all around and it's also a fountain that looks like an iconic squamish waterfall after a good rain. There is great coffee/latte/espresso & baked treats here that may or may not be doing take-out (due to the pandemic). Information/activity staff are knowledgeable and helpful. You can rent the media presentation room, that is the center of the centre. Of course there is a gift shop & in season, you can also rent mountain bikes here too. Lots of parking and access to paved trails.

Beautiful building, I went there in the summer when it was the farmer's market. I wasn't impressed on the prices but neat things. Nice painting. And a cool video of the eagles. The store has some really nice things at a reasonable price.

30 October 2019 21:40
Great place to stop of for a short break to gather information about things to do in the area, go to the washroom, grab some souvenirs at the gift shop, and get some coffee and food at their cafe. A stop here also breaks up the trip from #Vancouver to #Whistler. Free parking in the direct lot, though often busy and full; or in their overflow parking lot across the street. #letsguide #squamish

The woman we spoke to was very helpful despite our french accent. She understood us and even mentionned her personal preferences (wich we loved). The centre also had spots to charge our cellphones, bathrooms and places to sit. Thanks for your help, Squamish is beautiful!
