Lovely cozy venue which appears to have been a former cinema.saw the Arts Club Theatre Company's production of 'Sound of Music' and was thoroughly impressed by every aspect of their rendition of this classic musical: high calibre performances from all players, stunning lighting and set design, nicely conceived choreography and brilliant music.a must-see stage performance for the holidays and runs until Dec 24th

A friend and myself went to a matinee showing of, The Sound of Music.simply marvelous.
It was my first time at the Stanley and was impressed by how professional the production was for such a small and charming venue. I will be coming back.

I've been to the Stanley Theater a handful of times in my life, essentially the past 10 years or so long after it was renovated. Since I lived in another province, the only time I got to see a production was at our company's annual AGM and Christmas party weekend. Whenever the organizing committee would book the Stanley we always knew it would be special. From Mary Poppins to The Sound of Music, the actors, supporting teams and the charm of the building always makes for an amazing time. The sound is great wherever you sit and the talent of the cast is always top shelf. I look forward to my next visit back to Vancouver and hopefully a trip back to the Stanley.

I loved it. Very easy to get and find parking. Wish they'd sell snacks inside, only alcohol available.

Lovely little theater! Recently saw Peter Pan Goes Wrong. Amazing show, so funny and all-around entertaining. Will definitely be going back for more shows!

Staff were fantastic. Had tickets for myself and out of town cousin to attend Peter Pan Gone Wrong! Enjoyed a pre theater leisurely stroll through the Granville Island Market. Then went to the Arts Club Theater …… Daaaah…. It was closed, panic set in we had the wrong theater. Its at the Stanley Industrial off island. We had 20 mins before show but we’d give it a try. Left the car as the island was so busy saw a Uber close by and grabbed it. Got to Stanley with five minutes to spare. Tickets on my phone weren’t showing but the man in the booth had obviously seen this all before. He was kind hearted, helped us sort it out and reassured us we would be at our seats before curtain call. Grabbed a couple of glasses of red wine, sat down as the lites dimmed, we made it!
Pan Gone Wrong was so good. We’ve never laughed so hard and continually through an entire production before. One of the most complex sets I’ve ever seen. Players seem to really enjoy it as well. Whatever could go wrong with a production did go wrong. (And our own bumbling way of attending LOL) Theater was packed for a Saturday afternoon. Seats and sight lines were great. Little dingy inside but well kept and historic. Snack and Alcohol servings you can take back to your seat. When we left we asked a young lady to take our photo in front of the poster. She obliged and amazingly she was part of the cast! Thank you Stanley players and staff for saving the day and making this special memory. Cheers.

Big shout out to the ushers at The Stanley! I've seen them go SO FAR to make people comfortable or help patrons in whatever way they can.and I don't think anybody really appreciates what they're doing night in and night out. They've always been very kind to my son and all the people around my section. It was very cute to see a young usher the other day help a very, very older woman down the stairs with his elbow to get her to her seat. He patiently took his time and he got her there. It was kind and respectful and I think her family were very moved by the gesture.

I appreciate you guys! It's a bit of a thankless job but I see you

Peter Pan goes Wrong is the most surprising experience I have had in a theatre. Sit, be overwhelmed, laugh your guts out. Just don't miss it!

Visited last week to see kinky boots, it blew my expectations out of the water! Lola and the angels performances had me especially captivated.this was a late christmas present after the previous show I was planning on attending was rescheduled, and I'm glad I got to see this spectacular showing before it ended.my only disappointment is that there's no way to watch this casts performance again, but I'm sure the broadway version available to rent is just as good, even if it's less special to me specifically:) thank you for all your work in making theatre more accessable and available, I hope to come back here the next time a musical piques my interest

Kinky Boots is another talented performance by the Vancouver Arts Club with at least two messages needed today = Be Yourself and Accept Others
28 September 2022 6:45
Great old theatre! Sat in wc seating which is at the back of main seating area and had a great view of Kinky Boots. Wheelchair accessible washroom needs an attendant during intermission so people who need it can use it - not the ladies at the back of the ladies washroom line!
25 September 2022 16:25
Absolutely amazing show "Kinky Boots"! The Stanley as a venue is beautiful. I love that it has remained old school and they haven't tried to modernize it
28 August 2022 18:11
This iconic 1930's theatre reaks of gorgeous fine arts history. Stellar entertainment on this stage, production after production.
09 February 2022 13:25
Another trip for our Seniors group. Really enjoyed the show. Good story and performances written by Dolly Parton.
06 February 2022 17:40
Saturday matinee of the Smokey Mountain Christmas Carol - did not disappoint! Incredible singing and dancing; sound and acoustics within the quaint and cozy theatre provided for the perfect afternoon.

No photos permitted during the performance (obviously) so I am limited by what I can share visually. The sounds are what are truly sitting with me today - three days later. I am still humming along to the songs “Three Wishes” and “Circle of Love”. Beautiful. Fun. Tearful. Celebratory! Go see it!

Accessible by bus (stop is right in front). Multiple parking lots within 2-3 blocks walking distance and some street parking. Go early. Enjoy the stroll down Granville. Check out the cute shops and grab a coffee/snack at a local eatery.

Only complaint is the snacks inside the concession are expensive and limited. Tea/coffee are served in tiny glass mugs. All good/beverages purchased in-house can be taken to your seat so an added touch/bonus.

An elegant experience in a beautiful venue! We have seen several productions here and it was great to be back.
They took covid protocols seriously and we felt pretty safe.
04 January 2022 12:43
I purchased a ticket for Dolly Parton's Smokey Mountain Christmas Carol. I purchased the tickets when the Covid rules were sane and I felt safe to attend under those conditions. Today, when my ticket is for tomorrow, I get an e-mail telling me there is now an intermission, the bar is now open and they are now at full capacity. Now, I get to stay home and my poor friend who bought the tickets has had all 3 of the friends he planned to take cancel on him. Merry Christmas to us from the Arts Club Theater. Yeah! BAh! Humbug to you to Artsclub. You will NEVER see me again.
21 December 2021 1:32
Our Seniors group had a trip here to see Dolly Partons Smoky Mountain Christmas written by her and all the music composed by Dolly too. Very good entertainment. The performers were excellent.
17 December 2021 23:45
Saw Smoky Mountain Christmas this week at the Stanley. Great performance by all and especially by David Adam's who played Scrooge. What everyone needs this Christmas.
21 August 2021 4:44
A big thank you to everyone at the Stanley Alliance Stage for giving our children the opportunity to perform on stage during the Pandemic. We appreciate the steps you took to ensure your venue was safe for our children!
16 February 2021 3:33
Unfortunately we had the worst seats, for Noises Off, front side, couldn't see most of the play, it seemed like the rest of the audience enjoyed it! So disappointing.
03 February 2020 19:02
The sound wasn't balanced: sometimes the music drowned out the singers. The theatre itself is fantastic!
09 January 2020 11:53
Good plays.
Nice area with some restaurant and shopping options in walking distance.
Bus stops nearby.
01 January 2020 23:17
Excellent production of The Sound of Music. The singing and dancing were divine, and the children were so great, the kids in the audience really enjoyed it too.
26 December 2019 4:36
Very disappointed. Went down to Granville Island (took me an hour to get down) to find out that the box office was closed, even though the hours online said otherwise. I intended to use a coupon/gift card that I couldn't use online. When I arrived and found no one there I had called the administration to ask how I can use these tickets. She said the only way is to purchase on the phone and pick up the tickets the day of the performance. I said I didn't want to do that as they were a gift. She said that was the only option. I called today to find out that she was wrong. And now the tickets are double the price. People should be trained to communicate the correct information to others. Very disappointed with how this was handled.
03 December 2019 23:53
We went to the live performance of "Sound of Music" here. It was excellent. The young adults in the musical were so well versed and had such beautiful voices. My brother in law was reluctant to go but he surprised himself and thoroughly enjoyed thr production as well.
05 November 2019 18:01
Beautiful theatre and always a great show playing. Seen a few plays here, but none as touching as A Thousand Splendid Suns.
05 October 2019 17:31
This isn't a review of any plays or the productions but the facility.

I found the stage to be very viewable from many angles. The sound was at a good level but seemed to be a bit muddy (centre orchestra) during ensemble songs.

Seats are comfortable but rows are not far apart for easy ingress/egress. People have to sometimes move out of their seats completely.

Concession is fast and they allow you to preorder your drinks for pickup at intermission.

Parking can be found at most two blocks away in my experience.
18 September 2019 14:18
Saw "Matilda The Musical" and was blown away. The quality of the production and the acting was as good as anything I've seen in New York. The Arts Club delivers consistently excellent theatre. Always a safe bet, even if the synopsis does not initially appeal.
17 September 2019 14:51
Opening night of a thousand splendid Suns. Such an amazing book, but also great performance by all those involved. Incredible play and great adaptation. Absolutely amazing!
08 September 2019 18:24
I all I can say is WOW! WOW! WOW! Best vegan brunch I have ever had, anywhere! I will always come back here when I am in Vancouver.
02 September 2019 11:01
A great theatre. I've been here twice now and I'm always amazed at how much space and how comfortable the theatre is. The productions are superb. You've got to see a show here.
27 August 2019 5:03
Thoroughly enjoyed the musical, Matilda! Excellent production, very energetic and lots of fun! Theatre's a great location - super central & on the bus line. Parking is a tad tricky, but possible in residential areas a couple of blocks away.
27 August 2019 0:30
A vey nice venue, with good viewing and a generously sized stage. The staff was very accommodating to our group, as we're the marvelous cast of Matilda.
23 August 2019 19:41
Awesome show Matilda. The amount of lines these young performers had to learn is unbelievable. The theater itself is a beautiful old theater and looks well maintained. Thank you all for a great evening.
12 August 2019 23:23
Matilda! Amazing play, go and watch it. Awesome set, excellent acting, excellent directing and lots of details. One of the best musical I've seen at the Stanley.
08 August 2019 6:26
As long as I choose "cheerful" plays, I really enjoy myself. I'm not into the really dark, serious ones because I'm at that point in my life where I want to escape a bit. Quality excellent.
06 August 2019 7:46
Best show in many years! Exceptional characters and the children were outstanding! Would highly recommend this show to anyone lucky enough to find tickets! Please pass praisi
23 March 2019 17:54
Wonderful atmosphere to see a show. We saw Beauty & the Beast (which was amazing!), and the environment was enjoyably casual and not stuffy.
27 February 2019 17:44
Mamma Mia and Beauty and the Beast were the last two plays we saw.both amazing. The Stanley is a classic venue and is always a spectacular place to see a play. Support the arts!
12 February 2019 4:15
My kids and family have great time over the Christmas break enjoying Beauty and The Beast.

Thank you for the memories.
Donald Balanecki and Family.
11 February 2019 3:36
Great kalamari and fish tacos for a reasonable price. The service was good. Give you 15% off the food if you have tickets to the theatre. Nice selection of beer on tap though they need to add an ipa.
02 February 2019 1:47
Watch Beauty & The Beast yesterday evening here. Enjoyed the show but maybe make sure your ushers don't jump over people to stop someone from taking a photo when the show is over and the performers are on stage to take a bow as that was a little odd. An usher jumped over my husband and actually fell over him and hit him to get towards someone who was taking a photo. Very talented performers, from the singing to the dancing and acting. Great job to the production team and everyone on stage
22 January 2019 23:56
Great Show! Beauty and the Beast Was Amazing! Very nice and accommodating staff. Wish they had popcorn and better selection in concession.
21 January 2019 6:37
Fantastic performance of Beauty and Beast. Great venue (seats are staggered so easier to see between those in front of you. Also booster seats for kids).
19 January 2019 3:24
Your mileage may vary depending upon the production, but we all enjoyed our time at this musical very much.
18 January 2019 22:27
Went to see Beauty and the Beast with my husband and 5 years old daughter. We all very much enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend for a night out.
14 January 2019 16:09
Saw beauty and the beast and mamma Mia. Both fantastic productions. Loved it and will be back for future productions!
13 January 2019 3:19
Great theatre! Smaller venue makes for a warmer atmosphere and every seat has an unobstructed view of the stage. Mamma Mia was my introduction to this theatre and tonight it was Beauty and the Beast. One of my favorite venues.
