Starbucks

I came in earlier this afternoon, wanting an espresso drink. I told the barista that was handling the cash register that I wanted a “fun drink” but something vegan friendly. She automatically says that “oh sorry, Starbucks isn’t a vegan friendly place. There isn’t really anything here and I don’t really know what that (vegan) entails, but they’re just really isn’t anything. ” She took a pause and then stated unless it’s with the non dairy milks. This is just factually incorrect so I questioned her on it. I told her that I just needed to know what drinks didn’t have a dairy base/flavour in it and pointed out the oat Americano. At this point, I could tell that she didn’t want to interact with me anymore so she just a agreed with that drink asked what size I wanted. She even made a wide eyed expression saying “ ok lady”. It’s completely ridiculous because after when I got home, I Googled vegan friendly Starbucks drinks and there’s a whole page dedicated to it. I feel like baristas should be able to know what products a vegan can have and not make me feel like I’m the difficult one. In the grand scheme of things, it’s not a big deal, but it just kind of made my afternoon off. I feel that a Starbucks customer shouldn’t be made to feel as if they can’t have anything on their menu and should leave. Maybe lead with what they CAN have.

Love this coffee shop. All the staff are super nice and welcome me by name every time I stop in for my regular order.

First Starbucks experience in Vancouver BC was made most memorable by the friendliest service I received from the cashier. The drip coffee was also on point. Warmth and care on a busy American holiday goes a long way.

Nice feel as you walk in as it's spacious, modern, and clean. High prices but that's nothing new these days. Considering the location I can only imagine how high their rent is.
