I began seeing Stefanie earlier this year to help treat anxiety and depression. I have to admit that not only was I struggling to survive on a daily basis with my mental health, but I was also very apprehensive of the whole ‘needling process’.

I first met her when I was in second pregnancy and a repeat condition called Cholestasis of Pregnancy - or ICP - which is a hormonal imbalance causing the liver and gallbladder to not properly deal with the bile acid. This can often lead to labour being induced early depending on the amount of excess bile in the blood. The access bile causes intense and insatiable itching from head to toe (literally, even in between toes and fingers)!

In my first pregnancy I was in tears many nights and at all hours of the night, constantly refilling warm oatmeal baths, just to get some "naps". My first pregnancy ended up having to be induced at 37 weeks (even with the doctor's meds that I was taking to help break down acid).

When it started during my second pregnancy I felt that I had to do something different. Stefanie was kind, compassionate and inquisitive to the status of my symptoms and pregnancy. After starting with Stefanie and seeing her weekly, my itching decreased to a much more manageable level that allowed me to get the much needed sleep and decrease stress in a way that I needed with a toddler running around and I was able to carry baby #2 to 39 weeks who is now a thriving and healthy 4 month old young lady! I contribute my ability to carry my baby longer and keep my body a healthier cocoon to my time spent with Stefanie and her acupuncture wisdom and professionalism and kindness.
