Steve's Poké Bar

Unfortunately, this will be my last update for this place.

The service is decent, and the atmosphere is okay. But the quality of the food is simply bad. Fish taste frozen and not marinated well, topping is lacking. When a place that serve seafood is bad, it really leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

This saddens me as it used to be my favorite Poke place. I would not be returning again.

June 26,2022 Update

After a disappointing meal, we went back again on a second try. I am afraid the problem has gotten worse. Here are a list of items that made it worse:

1. Still no kimchi, which is disappointing.
2. Portions are smaller than the last time we went, and it's a downward trend.
3. We order Shoyu tuna, and they forgot to marinate the tuna.so it's just un-marinated slightly frozen tuna.
4. They probably changed the vendor of the fried galic chip. It tasted overpowering now.

Sigh. I wish this review could've been better because we really did like Steve's Poke.

Anyway, we will go back 1 more time in the future. Hope the food will improve by then. This is my opinion, YMMV

A disappointing meal.

I've been to Steve's Poke for a long time (before this location was opened, my wife and I used to go to the one in North Surrey, back then then still use the white plastic bowl.)

I've recently this location, and had a really disappointing meal. There are a few problems:

1. No more Kimchi, that's a big issue for us.
2. The scoop of fish is really small. In other locations, they would use a fully pack scoop. I counted, this place, 1 scoop only had 6 piece of fish.
3. Toppings is no longer generous. When ask for more of a certain topping, it cost extra.

The end result of all these point result in 2 disappointed customer, whom when to have instant ramen after the poke.

I understand that business are suffering during Covid. I hope Steve's Poke don't fall into the same trap where lower business revenue > limiting quality and quantity > disappointing meal > even lower business revenue.

I usually give restaurant 3 tries on disappointing meals. This is definitely strike one.

Overall great experience. We had some issues with our app unfortunately but Zoey was great, she was helpful and patient with us. The poké tasted so fresh and the place was very clean! We can’t wait to return for some poké and hopefully our app issues get fixed.

We order Steve's Poke on a weekly basis. Their signature bowls are very customizable. There's always new sauces and flavours to look forward to, like the ono poke. We really like the Hawaii fruit tea.so refreshing. Staff's very friendly and their servings are more consistent in this location. They are also available through food delivery services which is convenient. They have an app so make sure you collect your points!

I had heard that this place was good but I am blown away by how fresh and delicious everything was! Service was fantastic.

Used to go 3 times minimum a week.they did a price change and now my exactly same boal no extras is 5$ more in price. I can get over a dollar or 2 but 5 is too much.stopped going there

Sometimes I get this craving for poke and Steve’s Poke satisfies that craving every time. The only problem - their Poke is so good I’m left craving more.

Best poke in south surrey. I love the create your own bowl. The price can get a little high so I usually wait until they have a free scoop from their app. They can also accommodate my husband’s shellfish allergy which is great!

Cute Poke place with good food! Love Steves, one of the few poke places that offer a salad base. Always fresh!

Id say the best poke spot you can find. Loaded with toppings and the price is reasonable. Subway style where you choose topics and sauces as you go. If you want a good poke bowl this id the place to go.

The staff are great, and most of the time generous, but I have to say that I am disappointed with their Vegetarian option. That one in particular is just so bland, the tofu is raw and no sauce, just so plain. It's a shame - Everyone else in the fam loves this place, but as a vegetarian to another, I wouldn't recommend.

Always great and friendly service from the super knowledgeable staff. The food is amazing and fresh, with customizable options. Steve’s Poke is my go to spot anytime I’m not feeling like cooking and want a delicious and healthy bowl.

Actually converted me to liking poke.

I had poke before, and it was not very good, but this place has been spectacular two times in a row, both servers, Melina, and Vivian were amazing and helpful and very friendly.

They also drew custom pictures on the lids which was a super nice touch

Just love it! We don't go out much but we sure love to get a poke bowl once in a while to treat ourselves. Delicious every time and certainly something we look forward to every time.

. C est bon, c est frais mais les prix sont un peu élevés pour un bol de riz. De plus, j avais l'impression de manger un gros sushi unique sans l algue. A choisir je préfère les sushis car plus de variétés. Les gouts et les couleurs. Plus de 100$ pour 5 bols.

Rude workers. Got attitude for them putting the wrong sauce on my bowl. Work on the training. Doesn’t hurt to smile.

Steve's poke is clearly doing something right. Every single location is constantly great. All the ingredients are fresh and come in generous portions. You never have to give up an ingredient you like because of a maximum topping limit. They are also super delicious.

Very reasonable pricing too compared to other poke bars.

If you are not a fan of poke because of another poke bar, give this a try. You can choose their suggested bowls or make your own:)

One of the only poké places that consistently has delicious and good quality ingredients, across all its locations. If you’re looking to try poké or you’re a regular, you can’t go wrong at Steve’s.

The fish smelled so bad. I had to throw it away. Never getting poke from here again when there's so many other options

I'd love to write a review about the food at this location but unfortunately I cannot. We tried to order 3 bowls online yesterday for lunch, we couldn't access our accounts as it was linked to our phone number? After trying for 10 minutes, we got fed up and tried to call in and place the order. The girl who answered the phone was not of any help so we kindly asked if we could place the order over the phone. She told us she had a customer walk in, and asked if we could call her back in 15 minutes.

Why would we would do that? If you can't have an efficient system for online ordering, then hire enough staff to service your customers. Terrible experience, will never go back.

When I entered the restaurant it smelled like rotten fish and when I tried to eat my poke bowl it stunk just as bad. I don't think that the fish was fresh or prepared properly. My daughter ended up getting food poisoning from the poke bowl she tried to eat. We ended up throwing out our dinner after a few bites because the smell of the fish was terrible.

Awesomely fresh, flavourful, options for everyone’s restrictions and choice, with great people and service!

We enjoyed the friendly service and fresh food. Great portion size and excellent value for the money.

Steve's never fails to provide consistently delicious poke. All the locations have super friendly staff and my favorite poke! Keep it up guys.

Only giving 4 stars for today —— I’ve usually had great experiences here but the last time I ordered online (Grandview Corners location), they forgot to put a premium topping in my order: (Was a little disappointing. But otherwise every other time I’ve been here I’ve had no problems whatsoever. Poke is delicious!

Absolutely incredible poke bowls. I order from Steve’s at least twice a week. I recommend their California Dreamin’ Bowl, if you’re into salmon. I definitely recommend using their app and just picking up in person— they’re super fast (usually ready within 10mins).

Hands down my favourite poké spot! Staff was super friendly and made my poké bowl just the way i wanted.

It’s a great choice for poke. Recommend customizing your own bowl as the price for their signature dishes are roughly the same. Choice of white quinoa or salad base and generous accompanying toppings- unlimited seaweed/wakame! Nice modern environment. Minor quibble: small “scoops” of fish but only $2.5+ if you want more.

Delicious, healthy and the bowl is compostable. The toppings and sauces are so good and they offer quinoa which is good for Keto or diabetic diet.

This is a new favourite of mine. Always consistently delicious, and you don’t feel bad after eating it. Well worth the time and money to try it, my favourite is the Toona Spicy!

The Poké is fantastic and very fresh! The quantity is large enough to be two meals or shared. Made to order or there are menu specials. Definitely the best poké I have had in Vancouver.

I had ordered my poke for delivery through skip the dishes and it was delicious! Very flavourful! I love how they went above and beyond by adding cute little phrases and pictures on the lid of the bowl. One bowl says "Avo great day! " with an avocado drawn on it and the second bowl says "Hope you enjoy everyFIN in your bowl" with a fish drawn on. Simply adorable!

Delicious quality ingredients! They never skimp out on filling your bowl and the flavors are all packed in. Definitely a go-to place.

Very good, $10 will get you a heafty meal. If you go all free toppings that is.makes me feel healthy and the sashimi is quite good. I reccomend the shoyu tuna.

We love poke! Was very excited to learn that we now have a poke bar in south surrey! We’ve tried many different styles of poke all over and feel South surrey is lacking such amazing food option until Steve’s.

Overall the food quality is decent and the service is friendly. The portion is on the smaller side (so does many poke bars) with rather limited selections of toppings. We also find it a bit odd to charge extra for the fish rows. Most of the poke bars do not have a surcharge for the fish toes and without it the poke is missing some interesting flavor. As we don’t have much options here in south surrey, I’m still glad that we have Steve’s.

Opening day was huge success lots of customers! Staff positive happy and helpful. Bit pricey but something new to try esp. If you like sushi!

Quick, fresh and healthy.clean Facility, lots of parking, knowledgable and friendly staff… something for everyone young and old and special diets.

So excited that they're open in south surrey now! I've been going to their Guildford location and their Spicy Ahi Tuna poke is bomb!

Clean and refreshing environment. Servers are friendly and polite. Food is amazingly delicious. Good place to enjoy authentic poké!
