We have been going to this clinic for a few years. Dr Fischer was the best and most caring vet we had the pleasure of knowing. Unfortunately she left the clinic and since then not sure if there is new ownership but the overall experience and focus from her high level of care has shifted to excessive billing and production and a disappointing experience on two occasions dealing with the remaining team. Its very sad when a clinic changes their philosophy from optimal health care for the animals to maximum financial gain for an appointment.

I’ve been a client for approx 9 years. They have always provided the utmost care for my dog, cat and a few fosters that I’ve had over the years. I recently had an emergency with my dog and they were able to take care of my dog on their lunch break! Very much appreciated.
I highly recommend them
Thanks so much for everything Dr Millar and crew

Did not actually go there yet, but very helpful on the phone. I also asked about the cost of some things, and the prices are very reasonable, especially that vet clinics are making appropriate care for pets exorbitant.

Great place to take your furbaby! They are really good with them. Also at the more difficult times, they are so compassionate. Thank uou

The first time I brought my cat to the clinic I had absolutely no problem with the service and was overall satisfied. It is not until two months later that I come to find out that they completely misdiagnosed him and neglected my comments on very clear symptoms. Last night I had to take the cat to the emergency because he has lost vision in both of his eyes and his pupils were different in size, he also seemed to be in a lot of pain. At the emergency, I came to find out that his blindness was due to glaucoma caused by severe hypertension coming from a deeper underlying condition that is likely hyperthyroidism. Back at the vet clinic I have mentioned multiple symptoms of hyperthyroidism that the cat has been having progressively and the vet didn’t even consider checking him for it, didn’t even do bloodwork. The vet somehow also failed to notice the glaucoma that the cat clearly had at the time of the visit and was already going blind on one eye. Moreover, I was told at the emergency that he has severe heart murmur, which has likely been there for a long time. The cat has been continuously suffering for MONTHS and the doctor failed to notice. Right now, the only hope for him would be that the glaucoma medication works, otherwise I was told that he may need his eyes removed; however, he may not be a good candidate for surgery due to his age. Very sad outcome that could have been prevented by earlier diagnosis.

Dr. Galloway and team seem like family with the way they care for our pets. They are so gentle and sweet to our animals, while being communicative and approachable to owners. Steveston Veterinary Hospital has been there for us in emergencies too and are quick to slot our dogs in when we are in a pinch. Dr. Galloway has followed up personally to check in after the fact too and make sure the pups are doing OK. It's nice to know we have the support and dedication of all of the professionals at Steveston Vet. Even after moving to East Van it is still worth the trip for the service they provide!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Galloway and the team for a number of years. They have always been so friendly and welcoming. I know they take really great care of my dog (who can sometimes be a challenge!). They lead with compassion and understanding while wanting to provide the best options and recommendations for treatment. You can definitely tell they are true lovers of animals! And the office pets are PRETTY great too!

I recently brought my senior dog here and was blown away by the friendly and helpful staff. The Doctors and support staff were both informative and caring. They took the time to explain my treatment options and outcomes and made me feel at home.
I would definitely recommend visiting Steveston Veterinary Hospital!

There is a $47 fee for getting my cat's record. I asked what is this fee includes, the receptionist said she has to go into the system, find the record and draft an email. I didn't encounter this issue from other vet, to me feels like I'm paying again for getting a receipt for my service. She said it is the company policy, I asked for a confirmation, she said there will be a manager call me back, but there's no call back yet.
Update: I got call back from manager with good attitude, she explained why they charge for getting the record. I respect their policy since she confirms it, and she's willing to send a receipt to me free of charge.

This location has very caring vets and comparable or lower prices compared to other places. We have been here for both a cat and a dog.

Review for Dr. Galloway

We recently lost the light of our life our cat Buddy to congestive heart failure. While the process was painful the compassionate and attentive care he received from Dr. Galloway and all the staff at Steveston Veterinary Hospital made it more tolerable. We only had Buddy in our lives for 5 years after he moved in off the streets, during this time Dr. Galloway was kind and compassionate with him and his humans throughout his veterinary care needs. From routine check-ups, to later, in Buddy’s life when he needed immediate intervention, Dr. Galloway was open, honest, approachable. She went out of her way to make herself available to answer questions and provide her expertise as needed—which during times of distress for Buddy and his humans, was greatly appreciated.

As was typical for many cats, Buddy was very afraid of car rides and visits to the vet/new places, even though Dr. Galloway and her team were always gentle and thorough with his examinations, he just hated riding in the car to foreign places. When Buddy and us needed it most we were able to prearrange house calls with Dr. Galloway which helped to mitigate Buddy’s stress levels significantly. We are so thankful Dr. Galloway was able to provide Buddy with this option as he was so much more comfortable at home in his domain.

Dr. Galloway provided compassionate care to our sweet Buddy, all the way to his last moments on earth —thoroughly and sensitively explaining what to expect which set our minds and hearts at ease. Dr. Galloway was supportive all the way to the end and for this, we are eternally grateful. Thank you, Dr. Galloway (and team), for all you have done for our family. Buddy is smiling upon you from the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.

This is the 2nd time we have been and the staff is great. My dog had been throwing up and lethargic all morning, I called at noon and they got me in for 3: 15pm that day. We saw Breanne (I hope I spelled right) and she was awesome. Answered all my questions, I didn't feel rushed and she cared. She set my mind at ease as well. She didn't push for unnecessary tests. Great place and people.

Highly recommend them. We consider ourselves very blessed to have them as our vet. Everyone is friendly and professional, they all genuinely care for your pets, the place is clean and bright and the prices are very reasonable.

We see Dr Bonnierre and she’s wonderful. I’m sure your pet is in good hands with any of the vets here though!

Our doggy Lucy was rescued from Turkey and arrived with skin and ear infections. Everything healed entirely within 2 weeks and Dr Bonnierre called us a few days after our visit to checkup on Lucy and ask about how she reacted to the medicine and all. When we had our revisit, Dr Bonnierre was so happy and excited to see Lucy’s condition had improved drastically. I felt her genuine love and care for animals. Even though Lucy is very scared of going to new places, she was still smiling away at the clinic. The receptionists and nurses are wonderful people as well. 5 stars!

I brought my 8 year old Maine Coon cat to Dr. Millar because he was breathing abnormally and asked if it could be heart related because I know laboured breathing or panting can be a symptom of heart disease, and some Maine coon cats have heart problems. She scoffed at me and said he’s probably just hot. She then listened to his lungs and heart and said they sounded good. Three weeks later he suddenly loses movement in his back legs! I’m terrified so I rush him to her and first thing she does in an emergency, is weigh him so she can charge me for a check up visit. She again says he’s fine and it’s probably a blood clot. The whole time he’s in front of her he is clearly struggling to breath. My husband and I then realized Dr. Millar is a complete idiot. We rushed him to the animal hospital where the doctor told us he was in complete heart failure and his lungs were filling with blood. He died within 15 minutes of arriving at the hospital. Dr. Millar is a completely incompetant horror of a human being, and I wouldn’t trust her with a pet rock.

In response to owner’s response:
So, if you saw my review last year why didn’t you care enough to comment then? Your comments seem a bit invalidating. I see you’ve used the same cold, invalidating response on other bad reviews as well. I’m not surprised you can’t find my records, if your office is as poor at paperwork as it is at veterinary care. As for addressing my concerns, I think you’re a bit late for that. My cat is dead. He’s dead because Dr. Millar knows less about animals than someone with no veterinary education. I’d hoped that you would have taken this review seriously but, I see you couldn’t even muster at least a bit of believable feigned empathy. So, I will put this out there for those that care and might be helped by it. It’s a horrifying, helpless feeling, to realize, only too late, that the vet you’ve entrusted with the life of your beloved pet is more incompetent than you could ever have imagined or believed. It’s even worse having to watch your sweet pet suffer so terribly and unnecessarily because of it. How can a vet not know an animal is dying right in front of them? The vet at the Vancouver hospital knew immediately! He was shocked that while my cat was under Dr. Millar’s regular care for over a year that she did not properly diagnose or treat him for something so obvious and serious. When I brought him to her mere minutes before his death, his legs were paralyzed, he was struggling to breath and there was blood coming from his mouth! How could she at that point say he was “probably fine” and that his heart and lungs sounded good? ! How could she be that bad at her job? ! How is that even possible? ! The icing on the cake though is that while all this was going on she was only concerned with her check up fee. What an absolute ghoul. I just hope that people like me will see this review and remember it. I hope it might prevent other families from having to go through the same kind of pain, suffering and trauma.

I would highly recommend Dr. Breanne Galloway and her team at Steveston Veterinary Hospital. I have had the great pleasure of knowing Dr. Galloway for many years now and highly trust her knowledge, skills and abilities. She is extremely reliable and her passion for caring for animals shines immensely through her personality. If you are in need of a new vet, Breanne and her team will ensure your pets are taken care of.

I had been bringing my two dogs to see both Dr. Robert Galloway and Dr Millar ever since I moved to Richmond 11 years ago. Both veterinarians are kind, caring and knowledgeable to treat my 2 presently senior dogs for which I always highly appreciated. They never asked me to waste money in doing unnecessary checkup but focused on what they felt necessary based on their extensive experience. Lately Dr Robert Galloway retired and his daughter, Dr. Beanne Galloway now run the clinic who is also a very knowledgeable and caring veterinian as what her father and Dr Millar has been tendering to my dogs. Further worth mentioning are their technicians and front desk staff are also friendly and kind to animals and clients. I will stay with this clinic as they have the best veterinarians in Richmond.

The staff are so friendly and the vets really care about the animals. They have gone above and beyond to help us problem solve our Airedale’s mystery limping. We love this clinic!

The BEST CLINIC in the city.and I’ve done the research. The two dogs and cat in my house will not be taken anywhere else. I’ve been to several other clinics in the city and they just aren’t the same quality of care. Our little guys have seen Dr Galloway and Dr Millar and both are outstanding. The front staff are friendly, the vets are as professional as it gets, the space is clean, and these people really care. For so many reason, this is the place I’ll bring my three little guys.
