Stoke Market (Kimberley Centex Market)

This store has everything local, lovely, awesome, and tasty. 10/10. Brownies, sourdough, chocolate croissants, gorgeous florals, local produce of every kind, artisan cheese, handmade meat products… I could go on and on. Please don’t be like me and assume because it’s in a gas station it’s not worth a stop. Just stop. I will forever be a customer!

I can't overstate how surprising it was to me to discover the fanciest boutique market in town stuck in an unassuming gas station.

If you need some fancy olives, or a special oil, or gourmet coffee beans, this is the spot to go. The produce is wonderful, and the meats are a treat. When I want to impress someone with a meal, I start here.

I went to the Stoke Market in Kimberly, British Columbia today at around 1: 30 pm to buy lunch and a coffee consisting of; one nectarine, a pear, a turkey and swiss cheese sandwich, as well as a coffee. I often have this for lunch during the week in the summer. Prior to my visit today I have ordered a 20 ounce latte with three shots of coffee in it and they were happy to do it. Although this item isn’t on the menu, at the cash register, the staff would simply up charge the cost of the drink and were happy to do it. Today was a different story. The staff (barista, cashier and manager) contested that because the item was not on the menu I should not be able to have it. I explained to the staff that previously it had been no problem, plus it was additional money in their cash register for the up charge of the three shot 20 ounce latte. The staff contacted the management from the cash register where I was to an open office loft located at the top of the store to ask them for approval. This action in itself created a scene which was not only uncomfortable for me, but also for those around me. At this point in time I am in a confrontation with the management of the store, speaking in a raised voice, so as to be heard by management in an office loft one story above where I was speaking from. I explained again to management what I had told the staff at the cash register and was bluntly told that I would not have my requested coffee. It is worth mentioning that I am a friendly regular here and spend $60-$70 per week throughout the year which totals over $3000 per year in the Stoke Market cash register. Having been denied a simple coffee was a precedent-setting event that resulted in me stating to all that were listening, including customers, “I am done with this place. All of this over a simple coffee. ” I then left the store and went to one of the other coffee shops in town, which happily made me at three shot 20 ounce latte. I will spend my $3000 plus per year elsewhere.

Why can't all gas stations be this awesome!? Loved their food selection and coffee bar. The grab and go sandwiches were loaded up and cheaper than subway. Would be amazing if this store opened up some locations in AB.

This store is a cook’s dream. It has all of the best things and the staff are lovely and extremely kind.

Much local and organic produce and retail items as well as in house bake goods with cold pressed drinks. Coffee is good, great breakfast bagel, baked goods on checkout

Great market, jam packed full of anything you might need. We just picked up a Christmas tree too!

Try their new breakfast sandwiches! They are SOOOOO good! I finished mine and immediately wanted another! Pair it with a steamed Fireside and you've got the coziest breaky of all time!
