Great shop, helped warranty my RockShox zeb and even went through the hassle of setting up Srams new process in order to process the warranty.

I needed a couple of screws for my bike, even though they only cost $2.50 I was treated like a valuable customer. Was very impressed so took my e-bike in for a service (one they didn’t sell me). The team was friendly, helpful and extremely thorough. Couldn’t be happier with the service provided and my bike is now running like a dream!

Roberto is an absolute Gem. From the minute I walked in to the minute I left he spent the entire time putting my bike together, improving it and much more! I have never experienced such customer service in my life. This guy deserves a raise!

I do a lot of my own work on my bike, but Straight Up helped me out of a bind when I couldn’t figure out why my shifting wasn’t working. Also fixed up a few other issues I hadn’t realized, which I was surprised by but appreciated. Thank you!

Broken shifter cable on visit to Canada, techs fixed me up and had me back on the road in time for the ferry. 10 stars!

Wow, I am blown away by the amazing customer service and work these guys do! I brought my well used commuter bike into them for some repairs and a tune and I cannot believe the difference. I feel like it rides better than it did when I first got it! Plus, all the work was completed in a few hours so I did not miss out on my commute. Straight Up Cycles delivers amazing mechanics service, and genuine and judgement-free customer service. As someone who has worked in the bike industry in Vancouver in shops, as well as through nonprofit work supporting at-risk youth looking for employment in the bike mechanics industry, I am well-versed in the improvements that are needed in the bike industry. Many people feel like going to bike shops is daunting, because they have experienced sales staff and mechanics essentially making fun of their bikes, acting pretentious towards them, or assuming they don't know something about their bikes because of their gender, or because they aren't a white guy.

I took my mountain bike in for a brake bleed, and the service upon intake and pickup were wonderful. I recently moved to Victoria for school and am not familiar with the mountain biking around here, and after I asked, Tim and Richie took the time to thoroughly recommend me some trails and ways of finding mountain biking community. The price for the blake bleed was also reasonable, and they even wiped down my dirty bike (fresh from some riding on Fromme in vancouver over the break). As I left, Tim went to get the door for me so it was more accessible for me to walk out, with my mountain bike. It's these little but big things that show they care, and it makes the experience for the customer that much more comfortable and happy. My partner and I both own two bikes each, both of which we have built up ourselves, and I will continue to recommend Straight Up cycles to my friends as a safe space that offers high-quality mechanics work, and sincere customer service.

Also, bike mechanics are highly skilled and creative people that need to be able to problem solve effectively and also ideally have great interpersonal skills for customer service (which is hard to find!). And Canada currently does not have a certification system for bike mechanics, which means that they don't have great wage protection (it will vary from shop to shop of course, but this means that there's no systematic way to guarantee that a bike mechanic that has improved their skills through there x amount of years working in the industry, will be able to get a certain set wage increase). So please be kind and patient with bike mechanics, and also if it is within your means, please tip when you can!
