We came to the restaurant after the 11AM wine tasting tour and we were told to wait for 1hr for a table which was odd, seeing how the restaurant was mostly empty. After being seated at 2: 00PM we were given warm/ambient temperature water and left unattended for about 30 minutes until the server came to get our order. From our table of 6,5 of us ordered the beef bourguignon. We then waited for what I believe was close to 10 minutes when the server came back to let us know they were out of beef bourguignon. How does a restaurant with only 5 main course options runs out of beef? We didn't like any of the other menu options, so we headed to Brookside Grill and got a much better and faster service with many tasty menu options.

One hour waiting to get a table then +30min to get someone to get our orders. After 15 minutes, they say came out and said that they didn’t have the mains plate that we ordered (beef).

The restaurant was almost empty, which doesn’t make sense to not have one of the four main plates.

Great view and great location. We’ve been meaning to try out the restaurant for a couple years. We had a reservation for 6: 00 but it wouldn’t have been required as the restaurant was not busy. Our server was great considering she was the only server on shift but she didn’t upsell anything or even talk about the wines which we were expecting.
Our food took over an hour to come out and while mine was good (the salmon) my wife’s mushroom ravioli was very underwhelming. It’s obvious this restaurant is lacking staff but looking at the venue, it’s also odd that no one wants to work here?
Also, please install some ceiling fans on the patio! It was very very hot and there was no air moving all of our dinner.

This is a bit of a weird format where you order at the front and they bring the food out to you. They seemed understaffed. The food was tasty regardless and the view was nice

Beautiful view. Terrible food and service. I would recommend ciming, taking a picture and then promptly leaving.

Went for Afternoon Tea and wanted to love it but was very disappointed. This was my second time visiting Summerhill for Afternoon Tea, but first time experiencing this menu. The offering was unbalanced having too many desserts while lacking more savoury options like sandwiches. While this could be interpreted as a difference in preference, the bigger issue is that the quality of the food and presentation did not come close to justifying the cost. Additionally, all of our teas came out with lukewarm water that wouldn't steep. My first experience with Summerhill's Afternoon Tea was great, but the second time around really failed to meet the mark. Hopefully this was just an off day for them and it isn't a reflection of a structural problem.

Frustrating!
Since we arrived, we didn’t feel welcomed.
The fondue is not a cheese fondue at all. It is a thin onion soup (to say the least), and the truffle is nowhere to be found.
If someone says this is a good fondue, they have never tried an authentic fondue.
To make matters worse, you pay for it upon reserving the table.
Oh well, not worth the price.

The staff here are extremely professional and really go above and beyond to make sure you can plan your ideal dinner on the town with that special someone =)

Always love coming here. The service is great. So far have only had great meals. The wines are excellent. The atmosphere and view are fantastic.

Pleasant autumn lunch on the heated patio. Vegans have several options. Five of the 11 lunch menu items are vegan. I chose the Cauliflower Shawarma with salad greens, which was good. There is one vegan dessert: Maple Baked Pears with ginger pastry cream & sesame oat crumble. Vegan truffles are also available in packs of six.

The view was phenomenal. Food was mediocre for my liking. Organic wine was flavourful. Mya was our sever and she was amazing. Thank you for a great experience.

Came here with a large group to enjoy the some good food and wine.about half of us ordered the halibut and it was awful! Overcooked and tasted like we were eating paper, we brought it up to the server first and he said that is how the halibut is cooked here.really? You want to be known for overcooked and disgusting fish? We then brought it up to the manager, who went and talked to the kitchen, she came back with the same response.that is how we cook our fish.they offered us 50% off our halibut meals which we accepted because most didn't eat their meal.but I can't get over the service or the over cooked fish, what a shame!

Everything was amazing - food, wine, service and view! I had the pizza and my wife had the pasta - both were excellent. I’m surprised by all the poor reviews but to each their own - our experience was great.

We didn’t have any reservation so we came as walk in, the whole restaurant was empty and they said we are sold out for lunch and the hostess said we are really busy. We waited outside for an hour and it was busy but there empty tables and they couldn’t accommodate two people. Really disappointed. What an hospitality!

We come here whenever we are in Kelowna. Even with a little smoke the view is lovely.
As a vegetarian there are great options and we had the mushroom calamari which came with pickled onions and tzatziki that really made the dish go from good to great. Have one of their bright sparkling wines with the dish.
My partner had the shrimp putanesca that had the right balance of salty and spice for such a hot evening. I had the saganaki tofu which was delicious and hearty with an assortment of grilled peppers, onions and garlic. Add the hot sauce if you like it zesty. We had the Chardonnay with both dishes.
Finally the pastry chef produced a chocolate and vanilla ice cream sandwich that you have to try - the shortbread cookie was light yet buttery.
A little sangria and some camomile tea (for me) was a great end to the evening.
Our server was so lighthearted and helpful, engaging us in the farm to table nature of some of the food and the exquisite work of the pastry chef.
Enjoy!

With company coming for the weekend from out of town I made a reservation 2 weeks ahead for the Summerhill Sunday “Brunch”. We arrived. We were seated promptly but we were given a lunch menu! If you advertise a brunch please provide a brunch menu. Very, very disappointing. But after reading some of the reviews on here I’m glad we chose to go somewhere else.

We like the food and environment but very upset by a tall receptionist girl.we requested a table by the balcony (tons of empty spot there) however we were declined by her as "we are just a group of 2" so we could only have a smaller table which is far from the balcony. HOWEVER, 5 min later, we saw she guided a couple of people of group of 2 to seats by the balcony!

it's not a big big deal, but it's upsetting due to her lack of consistency!

Disappointed overall. Didnt have our outside patio reservation. Charcuterie was subpar. Our main meal came while we were only half way through eating our appy and side plates just got cleared away. The puttanesca was bland. Felt like they were rushing us out the door.

Horrible experience

We went for lunch. We were very excited to try this place.

The waitress was wonderful

The experience was horrible. My wife found a hair in her food. This happens and they were willing to take the food back. When my wife started to sip her drink she found a fluff in the ice at the bottom of thr drink. There is no other word than completely disgusted

After finding this my wife lost her appetite and did not want to eat anything from this place.

What makes matters worst is the manager never came over to apologize. They did nothing to make up for an experience where one person did not eat. We eat out often but when something bad happens, the restaurant always tries to make you happy.

I asked for the manager after i paid. She asked where my wife went and i said she could not sit here anymore. I did ask why she did not come over, she said i was waiting. I am really not sure what she was waiting for.

DO NOT GO HERE

We had a family dinner and 3 people in our party ordered the Halibut main. The fish was over cooked and dry. It was under seasoned and blend. Meal was charged top dollar but very mediocrely prepared unfortunately. Great wine tho and that saved the evening

We had 2 beautiful evenings at your restaurant during our vacation to Kelowna. The setting is simply stunning, and we were delighted to see such a vegan friendly menu. It's so nice to be able to order your meal without having to explain your dietary needs to your server. Your Cipes Brut is my new favourite wine, superb!

Not one to leave negative reviews but the experience we had at this 'bistro' was poor.

-Table we were sat at was dirty/sticky
-After 10 minutes a server (not ours) asked if we had drinks ordered. We did not at this point.
-Asked for extra bread, informed after we started eating it was an extra $5
-Ordered desert and expresso martinis, desert showed up, we ate it and then were informed the coffee machine was broken. Waitress was kind enough to mention she would comp these drinks we never received.
-Ordered a charcuterie board to go and was informed it did not come with cheese (seriously?). Asked for cheese to be included. $14 was tacked onto our bill for three small pieces.
-End of meal server finally came by and we asked for bill. 10 minutes later we had to flag her down and ask again for the bill.

Service is everything and it was terrible. We will not return for food or wine. Should have trusted the other reviews.

Mushy gnocchi with salt grains larger than sand was served up. Puttanesca was way overcooked with the shrimp as well. My wife and I couldn’t finish it.

Wanted: Cheese in cheese fondue.

5/5: Staff
4/5: Wine (good, but pricey).
0/5: "Cheese" fondue.

We, too, were seduced by the 25/person fondue night. As the saying goes, if it sounds too good to be true, it is.

What was promised:
Cheese fondue.

What was delivered:
Translucent broth.

There wasn't cheese in the fondue. I looked around and none of the other diners seemed concerned. I stirred around what was in our pot in case it settled at the bottom. It hadn't. The dippers were delicious, but this isn't about the dippers. This is about the fact that you sold us cheese fondue without any cheese.

I suspect and almost hope we were accidentally served the base for melting the cheese into. I'm not a professional chef, but have made fondue at home. It's usually some combination of gruyere and emmental, some white wine, garlic, herbs, other things depending on the recipe, melted down, and then, boom. Fondue.

What we got was watery goo. It was like hot, gelatinous broth with some nice herbs, but little other flavour.

Should we have said something? In retrospect, yeah. But a restaurant with prices these high touts a certain caliber that convinces me the kitchen staff should have-and would have- caught this if it were a mistake. Also, having to complain is work on my part. I already shelled out on your wine and other sides. What the eff else kind of effort do I need to exert to get good food?

The bottom line: this clearly falls on the shoulders of the kitchen manager. Having worked in and out of restaurants, I will venture a guess that fondue night was started as a marketing device to bring people in and get them familiar with your establishment and likely over time, some penny-scrimping guests only wanted fondue and prime lakefront real estate, and this was upsetting your managers. Don't punish new customers for this.

If the fondue were of any quality, shelling out for some wine wouldn't be a problem. Instead, the kitchen has preemptively decided to write off the the tastes of its fondue night customers. "Surely these cheapskates won't notice we are serving them mushroom sludge. "

For a business, a discount should be perceived as marketing costs, full stop. It's even worse to water down the discounted product to attempt profit from something that should only ever be perceived as an expenditure. Surely, if people got yummy fondue, they'd also want to buy dessert or wine. You clearly don't trust your customers to have taste. Ouch.

If it isn't a sustainable marketing ploy, don't offer it any more. Offering good value to customers is what will bring them back to spend more, not punishing them for your bad budgeting.

In sum: great lake view, kind waitstaff, decent wine. But we were swindled out of cheese fondue. I wish we could get our money back, but also know that if we send you our contact info, we wouldn't be able to come back in without somebody breathing down our necks to "prevent" another honest review (again, I've worked and suped in restaurants). Instead, what about a public response from the manager explaining why. Why water down your fondue? Where is the cheese? Do you hate new customers? No matter how good the other offerings are with Summerhill, I can't call the "cheese" fondue night anything other than false advertising. I'd suggest a full do over for anybody who's dined there this week. Perhaps you could send everyone who signed up for the fondue night a $50 gift card, apology, and then, most importantly: stop selling fake fondue.

The place is nice and the service is good. Prices are way out of this world for what you get. We had the fondue. The four of us paid $25.00 each plus 18%tip which we had to pay upfront due to making a reservation. We recieved a pot of fondue and a plate of bread with 1sausage and some cauliflower. Not worth $126plus. We went home and had to make supper. The sherry the waitress brought us was a nice thought. Too experience for us. Will not return.

Food is not good, staff is not responsible, disappointing experience.
Reservation was for my sister and brother in law. Called at Summerhill and informed them its their first anniversary and I want something special for them. Also provided them my card because it was suppose to be treat. Called again and double checked with everything. I guess no note was noted. They went there. Didn't even liked the food there. No special greetings for their 'First Marriage Anniversary' (even mentioning to the staff again and again on the call). I told them not to take their wallet or purse for the dinner but somehow they did because dinner was suppose to be on me. Super disappointed that staff charged them rather than charging my card. Thank you guys for ruining the only surprise. Wasn't expecting such experience at all.
