Battery ran out on my 2017 Toyota Sienna and had to jumpstart it. After doing so, it had a check engine light saying there was a malfunction with our AWD. When this happened I was literally relocating my family to Vancouver. I called the service centre, explained the situation and Brendan (or Brandon) was able to take us in within 5 min. They fixed the problem in less than an hour. They were super understanding and accommodating when we needed help. Thank you!

Very friendly staff, salesmen were helpful and not pushy. We come here to service our current vehicle and it's always a straight forward process, they don't try to upsell us on any services we don't need.

I was told that I needed my alternator fixed and was quoted 1000.00 to do so. Because my car was not drivable, I was unfortunately stuck having this dealership repair my vehicle. Although they did ask my permission to proceed and start repairs, the price was not explained. (What was actually wrong, was it just the alternator? Was it more expensive because the belt was also broken? , did the battery get damaged and needed replacing too? , etc). I spoke with Toyota again the next day and asked for a price breakdown. It was 850+ for the alternator and around $150 for the hour labour. $75 for the diagnostic labour. This seemed ridiculously expensive to me but I had already given them the okay. And they had already ordered my part in from Vancouver.

I called my dad and asked him about all this because I felt like I was being overcharged. I don’t have a lot of experience with vehicles so I had no idea what that part would cost.

My Dad called the Toyota dealership in Salmon arm and asked for an estimate for getting an alternator replace. He was quoted $550 ish dollars for parts and services. He was told that there was a Toyota alternator that was priced at around $900 dollars (the one that was bought on my behalf) but my Dad was ALSO told that there were other options available including a $600 one and a $350 option that he thought would be very comparable in quality.
When my dad told me this I was very upset. I had been overcharge (at least not informed about the other options), most likely because I am someone who doesn’t know a lot about Mechanics.

I brought this all up when I paid today (I was calm, friendly, and patient) It cost me a total of 1220.00 with tax. The employee went to look into this on the computer and was gone for about 5-10 minutes.

Another employee came out (maybe a manager?) and admitted that there WAS a cheaper option but that it was very difficult to find as it wasn’t easily searchable in their system. He then went on to blame staff turn over and staff shortages as the reason the technician did not know about this more affordable option. (Which is something that is unfortunate but doesn’t help my situation, nor does it give me confidence in their company’s ability in the future)
He also said that the Salmon Arm Toyota must have misquoted my dad and that there was only the one other option.

I told them they they hadn’t given me the option to purchase a less expensive alternator and that I thought this information was withheld from me because I am a woman who didn’t know much about this industry and they could make more money by charging me for more expensive parts that aren’t necessarily better.

I was upset that they didn’t offer a discount, or offer any sort of solution to this problem because they did admit that there was a cheaper, 600 dollar alternative.
I am not the kind of person who would raise my voice, or threaten someone to get my way so nothing came from my inquiry, except disappointment.

I will not be going back to this establishment and I strongly recommend that you don’t either. Maybe I’m over reacting but I felt that I paid more money for being a woman.

My bill ended up being $1233.76 Lesson learned.

CROOKED MECHANICS! RIPPING OFF THE ELDERLY AND VULNERABLE! BEWARE!

My 82 year old elderly father bought his Toyota Matrix in to fix the “death rattle” a very simple, easy diagnosis with its own Toyota service board number TSB T-SB-0087-09. My father brought it in to have it fixed knowing that it was this exact issue. Instead they replaced his starter and other small things for $800 and told him the problem was fixed.
The next morning the problem was still there.

He brought it back to them to fix the problem again. They charged him for an oil change and some other small things saying it would fix the problem, $300. Next morning the problem was still there.

It’s super upsetting that a well known TSB problem was completely ignored and a part was replaced that doesn’t make any sense. Then an attempt was made to “hide” the problem with a thicker or different oil. A $500 VVT-I gasket replacement has now cost my father $1100 and the problem is still there. Who did this embarrassing work on the car?

My father has had it with you guys stealing from him and dosent want to make the trip back up there so you can steal more money from him. Its a family Ordeal getting him and the car up to your shop and to leave the car overnight due to him being legally blind and 70% hearing loss. You’d have to be the absolute worst mechanic in the world to mess this up. It’s obvious you’ve done this on purpose.

You’ll be hearing lots From me. CROOKS

Parts department was helpful. They reviewed damage to vehicle and ordered correct part. Part came in quickly and for cost quoted.

They sent me over to the body shop to get the replacement part installed. The body shop took my vehicle in and out in under 15 minutes. No appointment required. No additional cost for work. Your team are rock stars!

Toyota dealer.
They do good work, I have no doubt about that. But they charge a PREMIUM for their services. $170 tax in for an oil change + tire rotation? ! Wow. That's all I can say.

Went for an oil change and when I picked my truck up the maintenance sheet said I had a leak in my steering rack and said it needed to be replaced. They quoted me $1600 for a new steering rack. I told them I’d get back to them. I then went and got a 2nd and 3rd opinion from other mechanics who both said there was no leak and nothing wrong with my steering rack. The maintenance sheet also said my exhaust system was completely fine and didn’t need repair and the exhaust is actually the one thing that I actually knew I needed to replace. Will never be going back for any service at this dealership.

I was interested in getting on a wait list for a hybrid Rav 4 and I was practically kicked out of the dealership because they don’t sell to people out of town… I grew up in Kamloops and have a house here and in the lower mainland. My parents bought a new truck through this dealership as well and can’t believe I was treated this way. We’ll all be taking our business to another dealership after this! Very unprofessional!
06 May 2022 2:19
Not satisfied with the manager. The sales representative told me the car is available and the manager told me it’s not available for anyone who’s not from Kamloops. We like to sell and keep our cars for local only. That’s not good at all. We were even ready to come in person to sign all the documents. Everyone is allowed to come in any store and allow to buy a car as long as everything is being done legally.
Not satisfied at all with the manager. Not a good policy to have.

Thank you

Worst experience ever I have over here. It took them 1 hours to pick me up as i was having my appointment which I already extended because they delayed my service 1 hour and because of the late pick up my appointment got cancelled. I was 15 min away from the Toyota company and they came after hour. Moreover they didn’t even wash the car it’s a b service I am paying you 500 bucks you have already made my day worst still they don’t want time to wash the vehicle and in the phone when I was calling them to pick me up the manager was just making excuse it’s just 15 min ago you call sir it was a hour ago and a reminder to manager respect your customer be humble
