Made a reservation on New Year for dim sum. We arrived right when it opened. Food were great, service was good. One of the dim sum with truffles were pretty good. The XO daikon cake was also delicious. It is a bit overpriced but whatever.family enjoyed the food.

The dim sum seems to have improved by a lot compared to previous times we've been there worth a try!

So thanks to Netflix and Seth Rogen and David Chang I found this place! I always wanted to visit Canada and when going to Vancouver was possible I already had this place in mind! It’s in an shopping lot in Richmond area. Plenty of parking but be aware it is busy so chances are you even with a large lot it’ll be packed.

The restaurant is big! Way bigger than I had imagined. It was clean and also had a tv panels against one wall to make a jumbo screen! I was pretty impressed by that. Something I’m not use too at an dim sum spot. The restrooms were also decently sized too to match the restaurant Volume.

It was quite busy for a Thursday afternoon. Nonetheless, we got to ordering a TON of food. Like enough to where you knock out the first round or two or orders and you are left with a table that looks like no one ate off of it. Wow it was good and fresh and the sizes of the dim sum were larger than what I was use to. Quality wise I think the Asian community that lives here can be proud of this place! I highly recommend it since it’s set up family style for a good time with the family or friends.

The shrimp dumplings and shrimp egg rolls were amongst my favorites! Make sure to ask for extra soy sauce and condiments!

Service was good! But since they were so busy it was difficult to get the attention of our waiter. It’s probably a good idea to have a laundry list of things for your waiter or waitress to do every time you see them. It’ll make your life easier.

I would recommend if you are able to try this place!

It has a false reputation, the dishes are so-so, and the service attitude is extremely perfunctory. After sitting for 30 minutes, none of the dishes ordered, not even a green vegetable, was impatient to ask the waiter. What are people doing! Won't come back for a second time!

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you step inside, it's beautiful. You have your typical tanks halfway filled with lobster and crab. I was expecting carts of dim sum being pushed to each table and being able to point and choose. Instead, you are given a pencil and a menu to check off what and how many you want. The shu mai was big and juicy, the custard buns had a sweet and salty combo flavor that I just LOVED! The bbq pork and ginger pastry was just an explosion of flavor. The flaky pastry added texture to the filling. We didn't fill up on dim sum since we had more food adventures planned for that day. Must try when in Richmond and there is also one in Vancouver.

We just left there, food is average, poor service, we ordered 10 course set menu, the whole meal was rushed through, the server separate each course into our plate, without asking if each of us want it or not, he took away our plate before we could finish. I had to ask multiple times for wet hand wipes, crab crackers, we were missing two deserts, I told the server but he never bothered to bring them to us, we also missing one course, it was only mentioned to us when we about to leave, so we packed it to go. For a dinner close to $1000, other places are much much better, never here again.

The service and food were pretty good. The braised beef with tomato was my favourite, but the shrimp was quite small for its price. Would come back again!

Very good Chinese seafood restaurant. It is almost full house when I visited. The spacing and staffing are good, and I don't feel too crowded. The food is good. Service is good and attentive. I recommend this restaurant

Came for dim sum. Service was good. Menu was simple and prices were fair but slightly on the more pricey side. The food wasn’t my favorite but it wasn’t bad food, just not my preference. (Not the restaurant’s fault.)

Good dimsum place and average dinner foods. Prices are above average with good service. Ownership changed a few years ago and it does not live up to the quality of food the original restaurant. Parking is limited and maybe an issue.
06 August 2022 12:56
Great Chinese food. Judging by the clientele it's authentic too. My dish was especially spicy and big enough to feed 3 people. Highly recommended.

Best dim sum in the lower mainland as far as I have experienced. (Richmond location) We tried the other location once but it was too busy to get in. I'm fairly seafood heavy with dim sum so some places just don't have the variety I need, but we've been to many and to say this one stands out is an understatement. Even my mother likes it and she is impossible to please and lives for complaining. If you're a durian fan, the durian mochi here is a must.

Having been here for years, glad to see its new look with charming decor. Food is tasty, service is good, and parking is available just out the door.

I love Cantonese dim sum, and feel very lucky to live in Vancouver, where we have so many dim sum restaurants to choose from. After being bombarded by foodie influencers' postings, I decided to try Sun Sui Wah today, since I had not re-visited in many years. The place is huge, well lit, and fancy, with many big TV screens everywhere and colorful lights.
After being seated, we waited and waited, but nobody took notice of us.
The dim sum was not impressive. The deep fried crab claws stuffed with shrimp paste was large, but flavorless, even with the dipping sauce. I would not come back again.
19 January 2022 12:38
Food here is on the expensive side but very good. Sometimes I come here just to pick up their tapioca dessert (which is also very good)

Must try Roasted Squab (燒乳鴿). Dim sum are good. Free parking. I would recommend to make reservation for lunch on weekend.

Sun Sui Wah (新瑞華) has been around for decades. It always famous for their Roasted Squab. I can confirm with you that it is still great. It is one of the the best that I even have for a long time.

We came for dim sum on weekend and there is line up for table after 12pm. Overall their dum sum are very good. They have special on Roasted Squab for $21 with $50 purchase. It is a must try. We also have Sui Mai (燒賣), Chinese Donut Rice Roll (炸兩), Pan Fried Rice Noodle with Beef (乾炒牛河), Spring Roll (春卷), Taro Dumpling (芋角), Steamed Fish Maw Dumpling with Shrimp Paste (釀魚肚) and other dum sum. All of them are well made and tasty.

Their services are similar to other dum sum restaurants. Food serves hot and fast. Price is reasonable.

Great service. I love their online ordering system. Super high tech. Food is great. Right level of spice. The quail eggs are worth getting. Mmm.

Family have been coming to this location for 10+ Years for dinners. Unfortunately won’t be coming back anymore. The service is horrible and business practice is shady now with the new management.

We paid $370 for dinner for 3 people. Ordered crab + lobster + other dishes. Our waiter (Calvin old guy with glasses) and host (Oliver) were both beyond rude.

Again we’ve been coming here for 10+ years so we know what a 3lbs lobster / 2lbs crab looks like. Calvin brought it to our table and chose the largest lobster which is also the higher price per pound at $40~ per pound and the crab $30~ per pound. We ignored it and just accepted. Problem was when they brought the cooked lobster and crab to our table, it was so obvious that they swapped the lobster and crab with a smaller one in the back (a shady practice used by many small Chinese restaurants). We’ve been ordering this same dish so many times and this time was by far the smallest when brought to our table.
Never thought an expensive place like Sun Sui Wah would pull this kind of stunt.

By the time we were done, we asked for some to go boxes and both Calvin and Oliver seemed annoyed that we even asked for take out boxes and gave us these weird dirty looks. Honestly we didn’t even want to tip but we always tip anyways so whatever we left a 10% tip. Calvin seemed even more upset and just grabbed the card machine and left without saying a word. Worst waiter we’ve ever had and will definitely not be going back.

Almost $400 meal you’d then they’d have basic manners.

Good foods good service waiter and waitress wear mask and asked everyone Qr vaccines has wear mask, no mask no entry
01 January 2022 8:52
Food got a lot more expensive but at least the portions are still there. Things seem a bit saltier than before but still acceptable. Food came fast and hot. The head waiter/captain Daniel does a really good job taking care of guests.

Super rude host. Would not take our name down as walk in and told us to come back after 1: 30.no thanks… there are better dim sum in Richmond with less wait and respects their customer
10 October 2021 23:50
Great service and even more delicious food. Will definitely go back next time we are in the area.
10 October 2021 14:38
Poor service, overall the meals is either too oily or not fresh. We are family of 7,2 persons has a diarrhea. This is not a good experience. Apparently, it was really difficult getting any help from servers even we just wanted to add some sause or hot water for the tea. The only time they were willing to communicate was we asked for the bill.
05 October 2021 23:37
The dim sum bar has been raised. Everything we ordered was delicious. I loved the variety and everything from the staples to more creative inventions eere all executed with perfection. Will definitely be coming back.
16 June 2021 6:33
A high-end authentic Chinese restaurant with very good service. If you enjoy Chinese cuisine but prefer a good, western quality service then this is the place for you.

Like dimsum at richmond sanh sui wah, staffs are very friendly.remember us when we return. Food are good, prices are reasonable

After all these years I decided to give them a try since the reviews were pretty good so I went for dim sum Saturday morning. They were fairly busy but we were seated without much of a wait. Tables were well spaced out and they seem to be following covid protocols. All out food arrived in a timely fashion, all within 15min. They food itself was OK, definitely not worth the price they were charging. We had 6 dished and our bill just under $60. The portions were also pretty small. With all the dim sum restaurants just minutes away that has better quality food and lower prices, I probably won't be coming back.
29 April 2021 8:20
Ordered a 2.75 lb cream & butter crab for takeout (1250 g) for $74 plus tax. They showed me the crab which was huge. The crab I received has an 18 cm carapace. It seemed a bit underweight. It was fresh but really too salty.
08 January 2020 19:30
Awful experience for Dim Sim. The meat puff is oily, especially the bean curd roll inside meat is raw. Worse than other restaurants.
07 January 2020 8:44
Always great service, top drawer dim sum and good atmosphere at the Richmond Sun Sui Wah. Reservations recommended especially on weekends.
02 January 2020 4:09
I like to go to Sun Sui Wah for dim sum because the food is always delicious & easy to find a parking there. The 3 courses King Crab dinner meal is also one my favourite.

I had been in the San Sui Wah Seafood Restaurant (Richmond) about 4/5 times before I introduced it to my parents when they first visited me from California (around 2016). The experience my mom & dad's response is positive & deep with expresses. As a long-story-short, it is the only restaurant they requested to visit again the year after, during the Christmas visit to me hen.

The DEEP FOCUS is that the Excellent Food was served with EXCELLENT SERVICES!

3rd time here for dinner and always for the king crab. When its just the 4 of us (2 kids), we just order 7-8lb king crab with 1 shark fin soup, and a bottle of white wine. Don't do the noodle, fried rice is much better. Not cheap, $60 CAD/lb, but still cheaper and better than US. They always bring it out for you to inspect it first and I love it. Last time I was here we had a large party so we ordered some other stuff as well. But honestly I don't remember the quality of those as I was fixated on the king crab.lol! Staffs are always friendly and plenty of parking out side. I never have to wait but it was pretty packed this time around. They serve dim sum as well and pretty good too. They have another one in Vancouver but have never tried that location. Most definitely will come back!
15 December 2019 6:03
Food was good. Service was quick but variable: one waiter glared at is several times for requesting water, but later on another one came by and gave us regular refills. Not sure I'd go back. It wasn't the friendliest vibe (though dim sum places are usually like that).
14 December 2019 4:25
Oh this is very yummy! The fish paste is very chewy and perfectly cooked with a crisp at the end. The sweet bun is so soft and perfectly sweetened. The seating is good and is recently renovated. Thanks for the great experience.
10 December 2019 15:46
Food taste different from what I remember I'm 2018. Maybe they have a new chef? Ate at lunch time, expected long lines like usual but it was quiet. Chicken feet could've been cooked a little longer to soften the tendons. The beef tendons were hard and chewy. Shrimp wrapped in noodle was dry strangely.

Nice place for Dim Sum in Richmond. Have been going here for over 20 years and we still enjoy the food. Table service is also very good.
02 December 2019 20:32
From out of town and everytime I come to Canada I always visit Sui Sui Wah Seafood Restaurant. I have never been to this location but I am glad we ended up here. We were seated immediately and they had all the food stuff I love. The highlight of our experience was the salt and pepper squid and our server Stephen. The salt and pepper squid has fried garlic and spices and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. The seafood hot and sour soup should always get a shout out but Stephen was so delightful and helpful. He was so attentive and always made sure we had everything we needed. He even connected on us with our tattoos and knowing the culture and it’s still not as accepted he made us out of town people feel so accepted. Will be back and will ask for Stephen to help us.
18 November 2019 15:58
I loved this place before but this time, the dim sum looked weird and tasted different, and there was a lot of MSG which made me feel very thirsty. The food was a lot worse than before.

Sun Sui Wah is renowned for its dim sum.

As a pescetarian, it’s often difficult to choose dishes at any Chinese dim sum restaurants.

My favourite staples here include:
-Mushroom dumplings - packed with a variety of mushrooms
-Donut Rice Roll (minus the pork floss) - delicious and you can dip into 1 or 3 of its dipping sauces.
-Leather Jacket Fish - very tasty. Watch out for the bones.

Dim sum here is superb, but expect a lineup during weekends or holidays.
15 November 2019 5:45
Very nice experience. Food and service is good. Would recommend making reservation on weekends which are more busy.
14 November 2019 3:36
Best durian mochi in Vancouver! I used to not like durian until I was forced to try this. Other dim sum are pretty similar to good restaurants elsewhere, but the durian mochi.is so mind blowing! The price for dim sum is a bit on the expensive side, but they compensate with well cooked food and friendly service.

There’s a huge screen and it was showing a tennis tournament (Wimbledon?) when we went which was somewhat random but interesting. The tables are clean but the chairs are velvet and could use a gentle cleaning.
11 November 2019 20:13
The food was quite good, but incredibly rude service; we were ignored the whole night and it wasn't even that busy. Its one of those typical restaurants whose waitstaff think they should be tipped 25%+ for looking at your direction.
07 November 2019 20:52
The server recommended steamed bamboo and fish paste rice roll. Really delicious plate! It’s worth to try!
26 September 2019 12:17
The chair was very dirty, on the handle you can feel and see the stains. The food taste alright the first few bits only. Very disappointed About the restaurant overall standards.
13 September 2019 13:36
Best family gathering place to enjoy seafood from tank to plate! Don't pass up their fine wine selection, will never go wrong with a bottle of #duckhornwine from their case!
02 September 2019 9:43
I have brought my family and friends here all the time. The service and the food is really good! If your craving good comfort food dim sum go here:)
