Sungiven Foods (City Square Store)

My family likes this new-born egg from the early Yuan Dynasty. The price is right. Very suitable for the elderly and children to eat.

Sun Give Foods is a staple of this community. It provides a good amount of international offerings, fresh foods, premium produce and some mainstream commercial, packaged food. The store is clean and the staff always friendly. Prices are decent and the location is prime, for those that want to stay away from other, overcrowded grocery spaces.

The store is clean and the staff is responsive to all requests, especially many popular products can be ordered. They carry everything from food to household products, which is something other supermarkets don't offer. The after-sales service attitude is warm, friendly and very cordial. I will always support this store!

Good variety of Asian foods. Some veggies are priced per unit, rather than per pound, so there are definitely some savings here. Spend $10 minimum to get the first 2 hours of parking for free.

I usually go to Sungiven in Richmond but happened to stop by at this location while I was around this area. Everything was great except the cashier. She opened another cash register by turning around while we were putting our stuff into a paper bag. (at this point, we haven't paid yet.) After we put everything into the bag, we had to watch her dealing with another customer as she was scanning items at the different cash register. I've never seen that happening at any other Sungiven stores. If she wanted to open another cash register, she should have waited for us to finish paying at least.

This is more like an Asian type grocery store, but has organic and healthier options. They don't sell Western types of junk food. There are lots of vegetables and they're pretty fresh. They also have pre-cooked food that you can buy.

Love Sungiven as there's so much variety of food, fruit/veggis, meat, and desserts. Yum Yum

Just bought a bag of 3ib sweet potato, more then half is rotten. Some looks good but still can't eat, there are some parts are hard and bitter. It was waste of money.

Super affordable meat and produce options that are high quality. They can achieve low pricing because most of their produce come from Sungiven Farms. Making it super handy when things get outrageously expensive everywhere else.
They have a mighty selection of ramens, sauces, hot pot meats and sides, exotic mushrooms and more! They also have all the mochi you could want!

Nice friendly service. Selection is limited to good quality stuff. Pretty competitive pricing. Things have change since the initial review. I dropped a star. Fruits and vegetables - be careful to pick the fresh stuff.

Only one cashier when I went at lunch.everyone in the long line was getting fed up waiting.only one very slow cashier she didn't even want to call for help a customer had to tell her.

Cashier is very nice and kind, although that day the terminal of payment reject coz Rogers connection failure.

Possibly the greatest grocery store in the history of all mankind. Very healthy food, friendly and polite staff, lots of deals if you watch the flyer. Everything is ordered fresh each day and put out immediately. Very good management, and everybody speaks proper English so they are easy to understand. Free parking if you buy more than $10.00.

They have a large selection of Asian based foods and more, and offer a large selection of health wise choices including organic items. Prices are moderate. Please be aware that often the fruit and veggie prices are marked per item (each piece) so customers may think it is per pound. Free timed parking with minimum purchase. #letsguide #covid

Such a shameless copy of Trader Joe's look and feel down to the wooden checkout counters and paper bags with handles and even the country-like artwork but without Trader Joe's food. The blatant copy just leaves me with such a bad feeling that I don't feel like I can trust shopping here.

I love Sungiven markets and this is one of the best. Nice big location with a wide variety of Asian imported groceries

I work at City Square and often shop at Sungiven foods. Usually it is a good experience, but yesterday I got food poisoning from their sushi.
So I bought an Alaska roll around 1: 15pm on April 6 and ate it at the food court. In about three hours I started feeling sick in my stomach. It only got worse in the evening to the point that I was ready to go to the hospital because I had terrible stomach cramps. Fortunately some OTC medication I had at home helped and I was finally able to sleep, but I still feel sick this morning.
I am pretty sure that it was the sushi since I didn't have anything else to eat besides some oatmeal in the morning.
Long story short going forward I am not buying any store made food at Sungiven and won't advise it to anyone.

This store is located inside City Square. Plenty of underground parking. Sungiven Foods is located where the old Safeway used to be. Prices are a bit higher than other Asian supermarkets but there’s not many choices in the neighborhood. The supermarket is very clean and brightly lit. Aisles are wide and spacious unlike other Asian supermarkets.

This is a smaller food market but the quality is fresh and clean. The produce, especially is so much cleaner and nicer looking than competitors. Price isn't bad either, highly recommend for grocery shopping.

Always clean. Tidy. But lines up on this Thursday night particularly bad. Been coming here for a year and this is nuts. I’ve purchased a pre loaded card here but if this is the way line ups are …

The worst cashier service ever specially the shot choppy cashier lady there about 40 years old, she purposely slow on purpose and rude to customers, she took at least 10” to cash one customer out, , she needs to be removed from her cashier job, because she’s not happy with her job obviously. Also the cashier system should be changed. Very stupid system.

Really clean, spacious, and super helpful staffs. I wasn't expecting to love this place. Our first time here, will definitely come back. One more thing, free parking for 2 hours with any purchase.

If you feel like waiting 20+ minutes at the cashier when there is NO ONE in line at the store, by all means come to this place. Customer service here is really bad, I don't recommend this store to anyone.

Such a bizarre but great grocery store. No scales so everything is priced per item or packaged unnecessarily. Great meat selection, produce is pretty limited. Very high quality and inexpensive sauces, oils, condiments and cooking wine.

Selling many Non GMO, organic, no antibiotics products, surprise me they are not charging customer a high price, instead they are even 10-15% lower than T&T. Not as much varieties as T&T, but good for me with better quality and lower cost. Highly recommend to have a look.

Nice setting, good assortment can look for everything I need, quality is better than other Asian supermarket, but price is very competitive.
Good to have free 2 hrs parking in that area.

The store is very spacious and there's not a lot of people so walking around was very comfortable (not sure if it's because it's 4pm on a weekday or not). The prices are very reasonable but there is not a huge selection of meat and vegetables to choose from.

There are cooked foods like dim sum from Kirin and Japanese curries etc, but again not a lot to choose from, and the price is a bit pricey for the quantity that you're getting.

Location is pretty good though. Located within a few min walk from Canada Line's Broadway-City Hall station. Or if you're driving, there's also free 90min parking if you park underground (but you must buy $5 worth of item or food in City Square and get your ticket validated by the vendor).

I didn't see much staff on site, but the cashier was really nice. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes to shop comfortably.

I hate to be the only one with the negative review, but I need to share what happened.

I was so excited when I heard that Sungiven Foods was arriving! I was told of the cheap affordable organic food they had to offer that was local I even told all my friends and family about it.

But when I arrived, everything I heard of was not true. I was disgusted. Disappointed.

The staff were not friendly at all- not even a welcome. When I asked a question they just glared at me and walked away.

The products were indeed cheaper, but only by a dollar or two. There wasn't much of a difference. I have to admit that the place has a contemporary look mixed with the oriental countryside.

When I was buying the fruit, a staff asked where I was from. I told him I was Taiwanese, and then he proceeded to lecture me that Taiwan was part of China, and so on. He kept on belittling my ethnicity and the people around me.

I came here for groceries, not on politics. I expected affordable organic products, and all I got was disrespect for my country and horrible customer service.

A new store opened at the city square shopping mall, replace the Safeway unit. Selling Asian products with decent Western mix, price is very competitive. And lots of Non GMO, organic selection.

Nice asian supermarket with a lot of orangic and natural items, bread and sushi are surprisingly good.

Awesome place to get everything you need, both Asian and western groceries. There were some unique items, like lobster tail sushi and durian bun! Love that they use compost bags for the produce. This will be my new go-to for quality groceries items!

I was looking forward to its opening as Sungiven has been super popular in China with good market reputation. It has lived up to my expectation. Pleasant layout, hospitable staff, nice variety, and most importantly, high quality goods with competitive prices. I noticed that prices for some products are almost only half of that are sold in another famous Asian grocery chain stores. Highly recommended!
