Sunny Chibas Fried Chicken Mexican Cantina

The food was amazingly inedible. So greasy and full of sugar. Nothing to do with the real Mexican food. Not mentioning the prices, so ridiculous

The place is super crazy, the food is not delicious, but if I would go back, the service is good.

SERIOUSLY! My favorite place to eat in Squamish. Everything is so delicious. My favorite go to is the taco salad with pork. I dream about it…….

It’s nice stop for mexican food. However in the enchiladas they had put salsa sauce which was very strange. It ordered it because I didn’t know they serve it with salsa sauce.

Very unique and mandatory stop for anyone, even remotely, in the area. Impeccable food, great service, unique and mesmerizing atmosphere, pictures/themes all over the restaurant.

I honestly wasn’t expecting much from this shop. But the chimichanga was amazing.
Portion was massive, flavours were very good, and the pork was perfectly seasoned.

I tried a piece of friend chicken too and it was moist, spicy, and a bit sweet. I’ll be back next time i am in town.

This was a great spot recommended by a friend, interesting take on tex mex style food. The burritos are yummy, the tacos are unique but very pricey for the size. The food is good but it also has a nice vibe and outdoor seating

Food was great and very large portions. A bit of a wait but well worth it. Only quarrel is that the staff didn’t have much knowledge on the menu items. We got pork belly tacos, shells and cheese pasta with pork belly, and chiba fries

We have tried to stop here in the past 2 times and the line up was around the corner so we always had to pass this GEM by.

We ordered fried chicken which was so crispy and flavourful and NOT AT ALL GREASY with a side of gravy which was flavourful and perfect for our chicken and waffles at our hotel the next day, and we ordered online to pick up and it was so easy that we will never have to miss our stop AGAIN

Favourite spot for Fried Chicken and Tex Mex. Great quality and healthy chicken that’s worth the drive, price and wait. These guys know how to serve good food.

I ordered a quesadilla with al pastor, which was really good. Some of our other food was much too salty for our tastes and the rice was on the dry side.

Mediocre at best. The food was OKAY. Large portions for the price but honestly, the music playing inside the restaurant was enough to not dine indoors ever again. Such an odd mix for a Mexican joint and much too loud. (I am in my 20's and I did not enjoy it). Probably won't be back and will search for other Mexican places in the area.

Decided to give this restaurant a try after passing by so many times. Their interior decor is fun and foodwise chimichanga was okay, but the fried chickens were too dry.

First time to this spot in Squamish. Love the art work of characters and colorful.chicken was awesome too.

Ate there on the 27th Aug 2021. Food was good, except for the piece of metal wire I found in the food and nearly swallowed. I told a staff member, they didn't seem to concerned. They didn't even apologize.

Great vibe and deco inside the restaurant.

Chicken is good and the batter has a nice crispness but there is no seasoning, so the inside is pretty blan.
The tacos are OK.

Fried chicken pieces, pork burrito and beef taco bowl were all delicious, portions were generous (especially the taco bowl) and staff were friendly.

Excellent Mexican foods here. Very clean and eclectic place. Well worth stopping at going through Squamish. You won't be disappointed.

Authentic Mexican food! Super flavourful, fresh and downright delicious.

My boyfriend and I ordered the steak burrito and fried chicken. That had to be the best steak burrito and fried chicken I’ve ever had in my whole life! It was so good, we forgot to take a picture of the burrito! But was lucky to get a picture of the chicken before we demolished it The interior is super cool, funky, retro and just an awesome hang out spot. Sadly, it won’t be a usual cuz we are from Ontario but it will definitely be a must whenever we visit B. C. Can’t wait to be back and order everything on the menu!

To say that I drove from Vancouver just to indulge in some delicious tacos and fried chicken. Well that's the darn truth.

Also why not go on a sunny day to see our beautiful scenery on the way?

Every single time we hit up Whistler, this is a place we must stop at.
Or if you're bored and want to go for a nice drive. Like me HA HA HA!

Their tried chicken always hits the spot. With a huge selection on their menu, I'm sure you'll find soemthing you enjoy.

Excellent food, cant wait to try the other items.staff was very friendly. I got the torta and 3 pcs fried chicken.the spicy is quite spicy, I downed my coke in like 10 secs.but it was really good.

Whether you live in Squamish or just passing through, Sunny Chibas is a great place to get some food.

Food tasted great and all but the portions are small compared to the price. Wouldn’t come back. Too expensive for what you get. Maybe if portions or price changes I would come back. If you don’t care about price then come here.

This little gem makes all the other breaded fried chicken places look anemic; put some spice in your life!

Absolutely exquisite dining experience. The chimichangas are a local favorite. If you aren't a total coward, try their bouquet of hot sauces. Other personal favorites: taco salad, the habanaro fried chicken (especially on a poutine), and the Mexican fries.

This is stupendous sustenance.

Best food, a must stop if you are passing through sometimes we just drive from Vancouver to go there to eat on a day off it's worth the drive

YUM! I had the crispy fish taco and the Moroccan falafel taco. The fish was breaded not battered. The toppings were piled high and very fresh with the right amount of sauce. They were small, so not filling. But well worth it for deliciousness. Very unusual eclectic menu. Veggie options are cauliflower, rice and beans, or the falafel. Many dishes I've never heard of.

The "decor" is pretty far out. Worth a visit just for that but the food shouldn't be missed. Galaxies painted on the floor. Characters painted on the walls. One wall covered in stills from Japanese anime/cartoons. The middle of the room is a long half-height wall with sand and cactus on top. Various Mexican decor. Fun place. Relief from the tame.

We bought a 5 piece chicken to go. Chicken is just like any other chicken until you get hit buy the dried seasoning. Which I must say is AMAZING!
I took 2 stars off because the food is way too pricey, we paid $16 + change for 5 pieces of chicken out of which 2 were wings.feeling a bit ripped off!

The fried chicken was juicy and delicious but the Mexican food was just unreal. Really loaded on fresh veggies and strong flavors. Portion size was very large but we finished it all because it was so delicious.
Not you typical side of the highway place to eat. I highly recommend!

Sunny Chibas has all the best things that Mags 99 had, AWESOME FOOD, an amazing Chef, incredible menu, and two owners who are amazing people. This place is as Guy F would say "Off the Charts in Flavor town"

The chicken was OK but I think the rest of the menu was more interesting. Same vibe and menu as the former restaurant Mag 99. I can't see how you can go wrong eating here.

Chicken Poutine is to die for. A little pricey and it can take a while to get your food but so worth it!

Excellent, authentic Mexican food. Super friendly service. We stop for lunch here on our way to and from Whistler and haven't been disappointed yet!
Try the Surf and Turf Tacos.

The place gets worse every time I go. Waits are usually 30-45 minutes, there are never enough tables so you have to stand waiting, and the food prices go up a few $ everytime.

Best Mexican Food in the sea to sky corridor hand down. Usually a bit of a wait but definitely worth it.

The best food. Wait can be a bit long when busy. Waited over an hour the other day when told 30-40 min. But the food is super good so I gotta give 5 stars.

First time here. The wait sucked (about 30 minutes around 6pm) but oh so worth it! Had my first chicken chimichanga!

Their fried chicken is equivalent to KFC. I was very disappointed with their fried chicken. I would rather try fried chicken in the Seven Eleven near by this location.

So disappointed - Got dinner home and the coleslaw was bad-really bad you could smell it had turned. I tried to call and let them know but it just rings busy. Fries were horrible and tasted like old oil. Gravy was white and tasted like flour. Chicken was overcooked dry and had no flavor. So sad Mags was amazing.

First time here and also the LAST time here. The restaurant is junk. First, I ordered a 1 piece chicken meal. You would think that the employees would warn their patrons ahead of time that if they order a combo, only diet coke is available since the other fountain drinks are out of order. Well they didn't. So we were forced to drink diet coke or pour ourselves water which we could have just gotten for free. Second, the piece of chicken they gave me was a tiny, extremely dry piece of chicken breast surrounded by a large plate of fries. The chicken at 7-11 tastes better and is half the price of what I paid!

Forget this place and don't waste your time

Great food. A very peculiar experience, but one you won't regret. I'm still trying to figure out the idea behind the decoration.

Mag's 99 may be gone, but Sunny Chiba's is THE BOMB and everything you liked about Mag's is still intact or even improved upon! Talked to the owner and he's a super nice guy who is committed to quality, and it shows! Make mine Sunny Chiba's!

Poutine here uses a lighter gravy (which I like). Food quality is excellent. They tend to get busy, might have to wait a short bit. The Staff were friendly and cheerful.

Legendary mammoth appetite road trippin fried chicken Mexican pit stop that should be on any itinerary for hungry humans. I stopped by this youthful artsy restaurant which has a range of tacos, poutine and fried chicken available in regular and spicy. The premium 'legendary' tacos are a hoot and I suggested the dusted prawn options. Comfy booths and friendly staff with mental murals. The owners clearly care about this business and have a real vision for what it aims to be, you can't miss the bright teal exterior. Go here. Just wish it was a little cheaper!

Best lunch in Squamish! I keep going back to try more things - I'm addicted! And everything is delicious - You really can't go wrong. We keep bringing our guests here and they love it.

As of Aug19 the menu is a carbon copy of the old Mags99 menu. Decor has been uplifted. I'll update review in the future with any major changes in the menu.

Formerly called Mag's 99, pretty much the same menu and recipes. Fantastic chicken and a good ambiance in the restaurant. Prices a bit high and the waits can get long at peak, but worth it.

If you have the time to stop by on your drive through our beautiful countryside make a point of it! The menu here is basically everything you will ever need to brave whatever sea to sky can throw at you on a hot summer day or a chilly winter one. Taco salad that will melt your heart and legendary tacos that taste better with every bite. Chicken fried by to gods themselves could not top what comes out of this kitchen. Only downside is that once you've tried it you will forever have a hard time driving past it without lighting that blinker and pulling in.

Mags 99 is WAY better. Go to the Mags 99 food truck instead. Or their new location that will open in a month. They give you WAYYY bigger portions than Sunny Chibas and the food is so much tastier. No free WiFi, small portions, expensive and rude employees. We won't be back.

Better than ever. Still great food, still a great atmosphere. If it's busy, that's usually a good thing! It means people like it. Well worth the wait, and glad it's back up and running!

This is the restaurant formerly known as Mags 99. Same delicious food with a few menu updates/improvements, same festive decor and casual atmosphere, same chef and management.

This is a great spot to bring kids as it has counter service and no one is bothered if your kids are messy or loud.

I appreciate the signage on the all gender restrooms.

Overall a great update to a Squamish institution.

Has affordable options that are really delicious. Great spot to stop in to get a great meal after a day in the mountains climbing or hiking.

Probably the best Mexican food I've had in a long time, well worth the drive up from Vancouver.
