Super 8 by Wyndham Golden

I arrived on a night when temperatures were around -10°C. The room had no heat on and was as cold as the outdoors. Stay away, unless you’re a polar bear.

The lack of attention to repairs was poor with terrible excuses to say why things weren’t fixed. The repairs could have been finished in a short time. Hopefully it has changed and management has either changed or done the repairs.

Room was dirty and smelled bad. There was mould in the shower, the fridge was dirty and had hair in it. Wi-Fi about for half my stay, cigarette butts on the floor outside my room, most of the advertised cable channel were no longer available, front desk staff were not helpful and the brown bag breakfast was stale. I’ve messaged Wyndham and the hotel directly and they’re not helpful at all. The worst experience ever.

The textbook definition of a dump. Poorly maintained, no cleaning done, the few amenities that exist are out of order. Breakfast is a muffin and a juice box in a paper bag. Not worth the money they charge.

Absolutely no clean, the bath was so dirty. I had to change twice the room because no refund.

Absolutely disgusting. Room was absolutely filthy. Worst room I have ever stayed in. Didn't even want to use the shower or bathroom as if was NOT CLEAN. Strongly NOT recommended. Find somewhere else!

Overall average experience with Super 8 hotel, might be suitable for bachelor's, not recommended for families.

The manager was a total tool who told me I was stupid for not know the address when I booked my room. Absolutely wouldn’t recommend anyone stay here. Manager is incompetent and unhelpful.

Total dump. Shower doesn’t drain, hair dryer over heated within 10 seconds, AC didn’t cool and was extremely loud. Exterior is a total dump and not maintained. Not sure how Super 8 even allows this to have their name on it.

Upon arrival told no room service unless requested for 4 night stay.

I wasn’t left with the feeling that I would stay here in the future.

Rooms look updated and smell very clean no stains or anything we could see. Due to the avalanche we had to back track and super 8 was to the rescue for me and my family.
Well worth the 80 I will definitely return

This was the first stay in our journey across the country in the winter. We weren't sure how long we were going to drive so we didn't book anything ahead of time. We needed a hotel where we could have our vehicle outside and was pet-friendly. This fit the bill. I wasn't expecting great things based on the reviews I read, but yikes. It was bad. The smell was awful. There was gross staining around the bathroom door casing. The shower was dirty. I didn't want to touch anything, let alone get into the bed. I blame myself for letting my husband persuade me to stay here. I understand that it's not a high-end hotel, but I have stayed at other motels and I know they can be better than this.

James was our front desk guy and he was incredibly helpful! I haven’t spoken to a customer service representative in the last two years who has been so helpful. He was friendly, professional and solved our problem easily. This guy needs to get a raise.
Room was clean and did the trick. What you’d expect for $70

No complimentary breakfast because of covid (although there were zero restrictions and all other hotels had breakfast). No hot tub either because of covid (although all other pools ect are open). The shower howled with a high pitch screech. The coffee was terrible. Only 1 bar of soap. I've never seen such a cheap hotel. A bucket if cigarette butts outside of our room door. Not worth the money at all

Room is spacious and is enough for 5 people to sleep.
WiFi didnot worked after 12am. Ofcourse it worked in the morning.

Reception lady was very rude, no internet. They will give you wifi username and password but it will not work. Please avoid this place.

The hotel look is not really attractive from the outside. The receptionist was nice at the check in. We got room 207, it’s not bad but not “super clean”. First, behind the bed its dusty and I also found things from other customers. There is a lot of stains on the bedcovers and also the chair. The air conditioner or “fan” is full of food crumbs. The washroom is not clean either, we decided to got some Clorox wipes to wash the bathtub and the floor.and the toilet as well! It’s not a bad hotel but I will not book there again, it’s way too overpriced and I didn’t feel the room was cleaned properly.

No hot tub, no breakfast, rooms need paint and not as clean as expected there were tufts of hair on the bathroom floor.

Air conditioner not working, sink is in the main room on a carpeted area and it was leaking so bad the carpet was soaked. Asked to be moved to another room. Once resituated, the fridge did not work.
Place is so outdated and the owner clearly takes no pride in this place, run down and filthy. They cancelled continental breakfast without notice even though other hotels in the area were still serving. The hot tub was empty. In the morning, the office is closed until 10: 00 so if you require any service, you are out of luck. Save your money, this place is gross. Staff were apologetic and polite but shame on that owner for the condition of this establishment. Super 8 should be appalled to put their name on this place

We booked the place after seeing morning breakfast offered.but when we got there the staff told us no breakfast due to Covid. Either they remove the false advertising on the websites or they need to honor their word by handling out packaged items or give vouchers, etc, as some other hotels are doing already.

Our room was shabby to say the least. The bathroom walls looked like they had been painted by a child. One light coat of paint, and you could see the dark through the primer? They boast a Complimentary Breakfast online, as well as on their sign out front…. But NO.that’s false advertising. They offer NO breakfast at all! The yard is unkempt, and looks like a dump. The weeds are plentiful, and some minimal landscaping is definitely in order. The television screen wasn’t programmed properly, and the aspect ratio was too large for the screen. There was no way to adjust. At $160 for the night, it was a total rip off! Nothing “Super” about this hotel at all!

I tried to call the hotel and the person on the front desk would not answer the phone and let it ring out, as my daughter was in the front lobby and would not acknowledge her as she was talking to someone else, when I called her to see where she was she was in the lobby and told me she heard the other line but just ignored it. As I was trying to book a room for her. When I called back my daughter told me she was off the phone and it still took her along time to answer. The hotel wants full price and is not offering any kind of service no breakfast or pool, I have been staying in super 8 in Alberta and they were offering muffins, fruit yogurt and drinks at the front desk, the staff wore gloves and ust tongs to serve the people staying at their hotels, and lower their rates. It's to bad that they could not do the same in Golden

In spite announced breakfast included this motel does NOT offer breakfast, so do not count on that. Otherwise the motel is pretty good considering the price, clean enough, working a/c, quiet, mattresses are of good quality, high speed Internet etc.

This is the filthy super 8 I have visited. Bathroom bathtub was sticky and slippery due to which one of the guest had a fall and was pain full fall. No breakfast due to covid but we stayed at choice hotels next day and there we were served breakfast. Seems its a money making scheme. Yes you can see lot of smoke and cigarettes lying around. None of the carpets where cleaned. I wish we could have stayed elsewhere.

Free Breakfast. Not provided due to "renovations". Pool. Not provided due to "renovations". Overuse of heavy fragrance. Provided to hide the stink from the lavers of nicotine stains running down the walls. And the list goes on.

Room was clean, if a bit dated. AC did not work, fridge worked poorly (was about 3 inches of ice in the freezer which was affecting operation I believe), toilet flushed poorly, wifi didn't work until the morning, no coffee pot in the room, noone answered when we called the front desk in the evening, noone there at checkout in the morning. Not sure where the continental breakfast was supposed to be as the lobby was closed in the morning. Avoid if at all possible.

The company was very accommodating and was super kind when I arrived late at night. I was really pleased with the services and will stay there again when I have to! Thanks team!

I'm coming every week at super8 from years ago. Always clean, hygienic rooms and everything's on the right spot in all rooms. Staff is very nice, friendly and helpful. There have a big parking lot for big trucks, so not any parking problem.

Staff was friendly. Stayed for 3 nights and then 1 night on way back of a west coast road trip. Clean room, quiet. Great view. Fast Internet.

My first room smelled of smoke, and the next room they gave me smelled moldy. The highway was noisy at night. Staff was extremely friendly, but not helpful unfortunately. Will not return.

I didn't like how we were given the wrong room key and walked in on someone. The carpet was extremely stained- we did not ever put our bare feet on the floor. The toilet had not been properly cleaned above the waterline and the bathroom floor was dirty.

Our beds had been used, slept in, and made up to look like it had been redone.
$50-$60 rooms. There are roaches, ants and mosquitoes. The rooms are pet friendly and are not sufficiently cleaned after which leaves a musty smell.
Average customer: truckers, people traveling with moving trucks, cheap nightly "date" patrons, unsuspecting customers and dope heads.
There are drug deals in this place and the police are regulars.

I found the room to be mostly clean, but the sink had some kind of strange ash or something in it upon my arrival. The room was otherwise mostly clean, and toiletries had been stocked, so I'm confused how that got past house cleaning. Carpet had only been quickly cleaned with dust around some of the furniture where the standard vacuum head cannot reach. I cleaned the sink myself, as it wasn't worth complaining about in my opinion. Doors were somewhat loud as you have to slam them closed unless you scan your keycard and turn the handle before closing. So you know when your neighbours are coming & going. Otherwise I found it quiet, clean and comfortable. Breakfast bar was somewhat sparse, but at the price point what do you expect? Owner was extremely friendly, but used a leaf blower to clean the sidewalks around the hotel which wasn't exactly effective. Parking lot was unplowed and had sections of compacted ice and large slush melt puddles, I almost wasn't sure if they were open any longer when I pulled up. He needs to buy an old truck with a plow, probably have more fun too. Overall not perfect, but more than acceptable and a good value in Golden. Check in several hours early was accomadated with no problem as well. Would likely stay again.

Only stayed for 6 hours. There is no 24 hour front desk so to check in, they called us and put the keys in a secret location. Breakfast wasn't on until we had to be on the road, and there was no one there to check us out.it was clean and priced Right.

The front desk was very accommodating, the rooms very clean and the beds were soft, clean and cozy. Loved it and enjoyed my short stay.

I loved it great fount desk staff very friendly and helpful I also enjoyed the fact that I was offered a smoking room most people (nonsmokers) wouldn't agree but as a smoker its nice once and awhile not have to go out side after a long day driving and freeze anyway nice place to stay great rate on room clean and comfortable I will stay there again.

We arrived late but the front desk is so helpful. We are so thankful for her help after our long drive. Our room is clean and spacious. We are very satisfied with our stay. Definitely recommend to come.

Super 8 was super helpful. Coming off a 4 hour delay on the highway, we were wiped! Needed a room quick and they were very accommodating. Got a clean room, great service and easy check in - just what we needed!

A neat and tidy place where the staff are conscientious and pay attention to details. Price is lovely comparing with other motels in the area

On our trip to vancouver this was by far the worst hotel we stayed in.there were spiders in the room and the free breakfast was unbelievably terrible with frozen muffins the bathroom and room could have been cleaned a lot better

The room was basic, but at that price in the area that's what we expected. Clean and comfortable, and it was much quieter than we expected. The staff was very kind and helpful. Overall we’re satisfied.

Went there after being stuck at an accident and having to redirect, didn't actually stay, but the desk staff was giving $10 off if you gave a 5 star review and showed her before you checked in and paid.

Stayed last week for 2 weeks until June 15th.was dissapointed there was no microwave in the room. The fridge was barely cold, kept unthawing leaving a pool of water infront of it on the carpet.and the hot tub.the lady told me they have a cover on it to keep it "clean" I lifted off their makeshift cover only to find floaties and gunk in it.would not even put my feet in it.

They don't serve breakfast until 6am and we had to be up at 4-5am.so, that was also very incovienient. Apparently they only serve things like muffins, bananas, yogurt.you would be better off just getting breakfast at Tim Hortons.

Checked in late due to trip delays, very accommodating staff and follows up where I was. The complimentary breakfast was fine and alternative restaurants nearby if you want a fancier fare. Affordable and clean environment. Felt safe.

Please believe this and all the other bad reviews, it's true! This motel’s ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. Worst place we’ve ever stayed in in Canada. Dirty reused bed linen with pieces of snot and food particles on it. Not to mention all the oil and stains on every sheet. Beds smelled really sour and no matter how much febreeze they used to cover up the smell of the room, it was still pervasive. This place should be demolished.

This motel is located just off the highway. It’s a great place to stay - clean rooms, helpful staff and nice breakfast. Good value for money!

We had an amazing stay at Super 8 in Golden. The room was very clean and big. The breakfast was basic but decent quality to get you started for the day. The front desk staff was very pleasant and informative.

We rented a room, thinking the main highway was closed for the night. 2 Hours later it opened up, we were fully refunded, without a problem
