Very helpful lady! Super windy day coming back from Gardom to Kelowna. My kayak was shifting a bit so I stopped at Surplus Herby's. She gave me many suggestions and let me test before I bought. That is almost unheard of service these days. I felt like I was in a small town with small town hospitality. She made my day!
Great place to get those odds and ends also great pricing on tarps. Nov 5th.just picked up another tarp. June 10th.stopped in for a few items and staff is always helpful
This has to be the worse business in town, what terrible service their local manger would not help me when needed, as well as was verbally abusive to me and my children and escorted me out of their building for no apparent reason we are trying to buy something for Christmas.
If you can't find it nor affordably anywhere else, go to Surplus Herby's. They have a good selection of outdoor supplies from fishing to gold panning as well as food, kitchen items, shop and hardware items, outdoor clothing and footwear, camping gear, Styrofoam.the list is long. Unique items that work well. Prices are very affordable.
Unfortunately they medically discriminated against me one foot into the door and refused me entry into their business at no fault of my own. Would not recommend supporting them.
One of the best places to buy things you didn't know you needed. Until you have seen them while browsing through their store. Do yourself a favor, go browse.
Needed new foam for our patio cushions, they received thickness we required and call us also cut to exact sizes. Great service and very friendly staff. Margot helped us with all of this, thank you for the great customer service!
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Whatever you need - THEY'VE GOT IT! Surplus Herby's is here with all your home hardware, fishing, outer work wear, foam and other random needs! Stop in today to see what little treasures you can find!
Was refused service because of disability. Been coming here for over 15 years, never again. Discriminatory business that should not treat others so poorly. Avoid supporting them.
Surplus Herbys always surprises me. While you need to treat it like a thrift store (one off) as you generally don't always find the same great things, they always have NEW great things. They might have coffee on week, cheese another, and parkas the next. They do have their usual items like camping equipment and fishing things as well as a large foam inventory if you're looking to make your own custom cushions. I believe you can still get your fishing license here as well, and if you have any questions, the staff are all super friendly.
The lady behind the counter in the fishing department, on Saturday Jan 23, sorry I didn't get her name but she is amazing! I'm a women who loves to fish and she always gives me some advice weather its where to fish or what to use. This time she help me with an ice augur and a Ice Flasher. I know its not easy for her to get around but its refreshing when you find someone like her that is willing to walk to show you, cant thank you enough, and she is why I keep coming and getting my fishing gear at Surplus Herbys.
So this is the first time I've been in to Surplus Herby's in a while. Things have changed a bit. It's still a great place to find random tools, camping stuff etc. I bought a telescoping shovel for $14 to have in the trunk for emergencies.
I am mask exempt with a Dr's note and they refused to allow me in the store. Do these businesses not realize that if someone is exempt it's for a reason AND with the Dr note the business is NOT going to get a fine? Hubby got zero help when he asked a staff member where something was. Lost my business forever.
Was a bit of a mess up in the pricing as per the sale tags on the tools but they were good enough to honor the price, thumbs up to them, have been a customer for many years and has been a good Vernon buisness
What does this store not have? And at a better price than almost anywhere else too!
My husband and I have gone here for everything from fishing rods and tackle to camping gear, to household tools and even some kitchen supplies last time we were in. They also have work clothes and boots, rain gear and wool socks, backpacks and bags galore, and even custom-cut foam. Honestly it's hard not to fill a basket with stuff whenever we're here.
This store is never a let down. Their staff are generally friendly, the prices for the main part are great as well. Sometimes their prices are whacked out but I'm sure that's simply indicative of the prices they've had to pay in the first place, so can't really blame them. Overall, it's generally a friendly atmosphere and good bang for your buck!
Awesome location for the person who has enough of the civilization and is looking for peace alone somewhere in the wilderness! They have everything you need!
The place you stop when it's pouring rain and you have no where to be. We decided to check it out and hubby found a few new tools he just had to have lol. They had rain boots to dance dance revolution mats to teriyaki sauce. You just never know what's going to be on their shelves. Interesting stop for sure.
As a surplus store I would suggest Amazon or the dollar store will get you much better deals. Great place for fishing stuff, although the staff member there didn't seem to know anything about fishing in the Okanagan.
This place has definitely declined in the past 10 years. However if you dont require anything specific, there are loads of random items to dig through.
Surplus Herby's is a great place to find good deals but make note that not everything is a deal. They carry many things that others do not carry. It is worth the walk through if you have the time.
