Surrey Art Gallery & Surrey Civic Theatres at Surrey Arts Centre

We attended the Panto musical on Saturday. This was the 1st panto for my grandkids 6 & 5. In the past we have seen many of Ellie Kings Pantos. I must say that I was surprised actually shocked at 2 scenes in this Panto. The first was the interpretation of how the adults get together to have a baby. This interpretation was not necessary for the story as it is a fantasy and possibly age appropriate for all your guests. Also, there was a scene that included shooting people, again not necessary for the story. Pantos are for all ages and I hope that the content would be appropriate for all ages. A side from my negative comments, my granddaughter loved her first Panto and can’t wait for next year.

The staff are nice! We got a tour for our class and saw the poetry video exhibition. I found it quite interesting, and wanted to see more, but I had limited time.

Definitely worth a visit before it's gone at the end of November (if I remembered correctly). I hope I have some time to go back! Also just learned it's only like 8 min away by bus so not bad to get to (if you're coming from central Surrey).

This is a lovely facility with a wonderful selection of original pieces, rotating exhibitions and gift-store. It's great to have a very reasonably-priced concession. However, I found the studio stage seats to be cramped and hard. The play I just saw, "Ghost of a Chance, " was enjoyable but many times through the presentation we could hardly hear the actors speak - and my group was sitting quite close to the front.
