Surrey Libraries - City Centre Branch

Beautiful building, one of the best modern structures I’ve seen around Metro Vancouver. Great seating areas across floors. Helpful staff. A great public space to get resources or sit down on your laptop to get some work done…

1) Locating Library: it is tricky to find it as the library does not have a big sign indicating the building. I came across two people on the same day who were trying to find it.
But overall the location is ideal, next to SFU, City centre, SkyTrain station & food ventures.

But the parkings around the Library are all Paid Parkings. The only public parking is the one for City centre Mall which is about 2 blocks away.

2) Environment: I did not find it exceptionally quiet as often libraries are considered. However, the ambience is still decent to study. I find the upper floors are more serene than the lower levels.

3) Seating: The library has couches, chairs, high chairs at different spots. There are reading rooms at top floors. The only drawback I felt was very limited spots for laptop chargers. Not all spots provide accessablity for plugin.
Also, I find the chairs are not ideal for long seating periods. The couches are missing tables Infront to put your laptop or notebooks on.

4) Free Wifi.
5) Hygienic Toilet
6) Tim Hortons in proximity. Also a cafe inside the library
7) Has multiple spots for bins.

The space is great the library itself great for studying and the staff is helpful HOWEVERRRRRR the low star is for the Cafe their staff is EXTREMELY RUDE! I simply asked if I could get a package of splenda and the "older, bigger women" gave me the most dirtiest look and barked back at me "NO" as she look me down and up. I just got out of the gym and have my sweats on & my big black gym bag and not to mention I'm an indigenous women but a simple "sorry we do not" with a lower less aggressive tone would have been more polite. Hope this gets across to whoever is in charge and they train the server in hospitality & how to communicate better.

Other reviews will speak to the stunning interior and helpful, friendly staff. But I found architecturally the angles of the exterior and how this building plays in with its surroundings to be a complete and pleasant surprise to come across in Surrey Central. This area is worth a walk about if nothing else. Thanks Surrey! I'll not be hesitant to come over more often.

Beautiful library and a great study space! I come here on a regular to get some work done. It has plenty of room to sit and plugs for your electronics. The large windows are a nice natural light source. Convenient location as its right next to the skytrain and bus stops.

However, I find the library staff to be very impatient and condescending towards people who are simply wanting to ask questions. Like giiiirll.we know you're doing nothing by that desk anyway. Treat others nicely when they come up to you and be a helpful human being.

Great library. The architecture is very appealing and everything is organized inside.

The staff are really helpful and the queue for popular books is usually not that long (compared to the VPL). They also have a good selection for audio books.

This library is also a good place to study or work. There are several computer stations and work stations available. There are plugs everywhere which is a plus.

Quiet place to work. Has lot of book to research but not the all allowed to borrow. Great design and peaceful study rooms…

An excellent state of art library located in Surrey City Center. It has got excellent collection of books. It also offers several programs for kids and new comers to get acclimatized to Canada. It offers lots of different activities for kids and family. It also offers good health care camp for children vaccination. It has excellent online services to search for the available books and reserve it online.

Beautiful library. Everyone, including the security guards, mind their own business. Nice, quiet place to get work done. Huge selection of books. Only thing that would make this library better is if they had a rooftop like the Central Library in Vancouver.

One of the most beautiful places that I visited, not only because of the architecture, the people are very kind and they offer many kind of services including English practices groups, reading club, Advice for newcomers, and a very good selection of books that you will enjoy on their windows with a coffee and a sandwich from their coffee shop.

One of Surrey Libraries' best location - just behind the Surrey Central Skytrain and 3min across City Centre Mall. Also a silent place to study with nice views on the window seats!

Impressive building with a ton of selection. There is a small independent cafe inside too, as well as a really great kids area with toys and kid friendly furniture.

The staff are so welcoming. I love that I can bring my 1 yr old here just to hang out for awhile. We love the Babytime and toddler events each week. A good place to meet other moms!

Bulletin boards also do a great job of promoting everything libraries have to offer nowadays.
