The food is always great. Our service was professional and polite the food we ordered came very timely and was well presented. We ordered sashimi, several rolls, tofu and chicken. The tables are cleaned and well laid out. One issue is parking the lot is small and parking around the area is restrictive. But worth the wait for parking

The service was bad from beginning, and the sushi test very bad. In general this is not Japanese restaurant. I don’t recommend this place.

For fast food like sushi its fine. Alaska rolls are popular. FYI its farm salmon. IMO, I won't get the spider roll from here ever again. For the price I thought it would contain more soft shell crab but it was probably a quarter of one. Not worth it.

This restaurant is known as value for money. Especially their combos, now they even have more selections, we choose the love boat as it has both sashimi and sushi. Generally the food is good, only the shrimp sushi is not very fresh, others are good. But the service definitely need to be improved, the waitress acted so cold without care. From entering the restaurant, after checking our vaccine card, she just casually pointed to the table and walked away, we weren't sure which table to sit, so can only assume the the one with tea and water on the table already. Through out our lunch, not much service provided. Even they come offered more tea one time, but the attitude was still bit rude. No wonder there is no line up at shop when we come now, I think guests would feel the difference and stop coming.

They didn’t give me chopsticks and soy sauce, not even napkins, twice for take out. How am I suppose to eat sushi without chopsticks and soy sauce. I don’t think they simply forget it by mistake, but more like an awful attitude.

As a person who doesn't like to write reviews, for the first time in my life, I couldn't bear to write a review because of the extremely poor service attitude. For this reason, I even created an account to write a review. Before I wrote it, I read the comments of other people and found that I was just another of the many people who felt that their service was poor.
Please show your patience, quality of service if you ever have!

Holy this place went way downhill. Had a good experience several years back but today, service was cold and not attentive, food was absolutely terrible. Tempura was very oily. I am willing to bet that it was fried in very old oil that should have been replaced a long time ago. Sushi was super bland. Spicy sashimi and miso soup were good though. Will not be coming back here.

Frozen fish. Sashimi menu is so not worth the price. Rolls are great though. Tempura dipping sauce is excellent. I’d go there solely for the makis if I’m in the area. But I wouldn’t deliberately plan on going there from home.

Friday October 1st 2021 My family and I went to have dinner, the woman at door was absolutely rude, we all showed her our ID and vaccination card and still we weren't allowed to eat there, we are fully vaccinated and we all have vaccination cards, seriously she was racist and terribly rude. She didn't even looked at the cards. Never going back!

The worst service I have ever seen! I had sat and waited to order, but they didn't care. Then I called them to order and complained that I had been waiting for long time. No sorry, just looked at me. And when we almost finished our food, some server came to pull one empty dishe so fast and fell the chopsticks. We was shocked, then she walked away. No any saying since came and backed. I recommend eat another restaurant!

Quality has gone down. First time I couldn't finish spicy salmon sashimi. Not tasty, poor quality cuts for sashimi. Trimmings in rolls.

The dinner for two, plus a few rolls, was great. Likely didn't need the extra rolls, but, come on, it's sushi! I would go again.

Visit there twice. Not gonna lie, I like the food. But their servers are terrible. First time visit, they rarely checked on us, I had to tell them to switch the unwashed plate that they gave for the food. Don't have to be friendly but didn't have to ignore our polite gesture saying thank you when we got the food.

Second time visit, take out.

Same guy who ignored our greeting, rudely asked my number and I said it, when I said it loudly twice, the sushi man looked at me weirdly.

If you had to eat their food just try avoiding their services and take food, not gonna lie, food is okay.

But their services are terrible and rude.

The staff here need to learn how to serving with respect, restaurant not that busy, I got serve by the girl wearing glasses on Sept 24th afternoon, I was kinda confused because I could not find my order on their website and she just show me how rude she is I can here often for food but this is the first time I met this case I would not eat here again until their services got better. Can’t enjoy the food while staff are having bad attitude, I'm not even being extra but can’t stand this

Have been going to Sushi Garden at this branch for years; mostly takeout.

Very good value in terms of portion and price.
Though quality and tastes are not superb,
I don't mind, given the good value;
at least it's easier to get full with the portion.

Have tried almost all the sushi rolls
(most favourite would be the Spider roll, spicy tuna tempura roll). The Sashimi / Nigiris are fresh and of large-portion.

They've been following the safety measure during covid, appreciated.

Parking could be difficult during peak hours.
There is metered street parking and
free parking at the Metrotown across the street.

The rice for chirashi don was mushy and way too hot. The sashimi smelled funky and was partially cooked on the hot rice. Adding to that, the owner/manager was rude, tossing our plate on the table. Really not worth it.

I've ordered from here for delivery a few times and had the opportunity to go here in person. The food and portion sizes are always excellent and are quite generous. I like the combos that they have because it's such a good deal and there are so many options that are available. The effort that they took to ensure that social distancing was available was very good, too!

Tonight we went to Sushi Garden for dinner for the first time after the restaurant reopened for dine-in service. Tables were set apart with barriers (i.e. Reduced capacity). With fewer customers, one of the benefits was the prawn tempura was served at the proper temperature with the perfect crunch. The toro and salmon sashimi were also very fresh and good while the rolls (crab with papaya and spicy scallops) were ok too. It was a nice way to get away from the heat wave/dome.

This is the first restaurant I visited upon moving to Metrotown. After a long day of moving we ordered sushi to go to enjoy our first meal in our new place. I like to think of myself as a sushi aficionado as I lived in Japan for many years and have always enjoyed sushi, sashimi, and tempura and I was pleasantly surprised at what we received.

The offerings reminded me of Kaitenzushi which is a popular form of fast food sushi restaurant in Japan. It is certainly not exquisite sushi that I will rave about to friends but it was all good quality, tasty, and well worth the price. Certainly excellent value for your money and a great spot to grab takeout after a busy day.

My wife and I have revisited Sushi Garden and sat in the restaurant and were happy that our first experience was repeated. I must also say that we had some assorted tempura and it was exceptionally good. Crispy golden batter with the inner ingredients perfectly cooked. The Ebi Tempura was actually very good.

I will be visiting Sushi Garden again in the future.

If you’re into subpar food and bad service. This place is the way to go. They also recently increased their pricing. Don’t even bother looking at the price on IG. It’s incorrect. Made the mistake of going there thinking it wasn’t that bad. Whoops! My bad.

It's good food if you can get past the subpar service. The servers are not very helpful or patient. They seem more focused on flipping tables instead of providing you with the minimum respect that everyone deserves. Really sad to see this place turn like this. Get takeout if you can but if you do, order over the phone or else they make you wait outside.

The lady who took our order over the phone was almost unintelligible. Ordered from here during the heatwave, so perhaps being tired would be understandable but she answered the phone all garbled and unintelligible. She kept on mumbling until I had to ask if this was actually Sushi Garden. When I started ordering food, she sounded audibly bored annoyed and bad attitude (it seemed to me). Aside from that, the sushi is always very fresh and the portions are huge compared to other Japanese restaurants.

Went here a lot before the pandemic. Once restrictions were lifted, came here for dine in. Ordered sashimi don, unagi don, and alaska roll. Unagi felt like just microwaved (no sear/torched). Sashimi was fresh, but the rice was under seasoned as I could barely taste any vinegar taste on the roll and my sashimi don. So disappointed as the quality has went down. The unagi don also took much longer than the rest of the food, probably around 25 - 30 minutes until it showed up. I guess they just missed it from the order paper.

Came around 4.30 and they were super busy. Kinda felt bad for the kitchen crew as well as they worked in a tight-packed area with tons of non-stop orders.

The dynamite roll was 75% cucumber. The soy sauce tasted like radiator fluid. The stale, slimy salmon nigiri was largely portioned, I'll give them that.

If you want quick and cheap sushi, this place is for you! They get food to your table and customers in and out in record time. We didn't realize how big the portions were for the price!

Going to this location was a mistake. The customer service was horrible and the food was sloppy and low quality. Entering this place at 9: 15 pm hopping to get a quick bite to eat, we were faced with rude and irritable staff who came and barked out that it was last call as restaurant closes at 10: 00 pm. We had decided on our order quickly but had to find server to take the order. Food came sloppy and bill came with it and server without informing us took away condiments. When another server was asked for soy sauce, 4 packets were tossed on table instead of bottle. Being disgusted with service as well as food, we just paid $30.00 bill, left food and restaurant at 9: 50 pm. Were very disappointed after being at the Port Coquitlam location. Will never return and will suggest nobody goes. This location should be ashamed of themselves to call this a restaurant and my actual rate would be zero.

Quick, delicious, inexpensive. Only a few dollars extra for wild caught salmon - definitely worth it. I've been here a few times and happy every time I go. I wish they didn't use styrofoam containers for takeaway though.

I am a longtime customer of Sushi Garden and have been going there for more since day 1 they open the business however I had a sour experience yesterday evening (Nov. 14,2018). My wife and I usually come right after Metrotown closed and after shopping we like to have sushi there. We dropped around 9: 15pm, within 10min we ordered food, because we know that their last call is 9: 30pm. Food came about 10-15min later and not even 10min into eating we were asked to pay, that's alright, we understand that they have to close their cashier early. Bill comes to $80 include everything and tips. We were given 1 take out box, my receipt shows 9: 53pm. Here is the funny part, at exactly 9: 55pm we were asked to leave.the guy in charge came to our table saying "Sorry we are close, you have to go now" - we told him that we still didn't finish our meal and he said "We close at 10pm, that's why I give you a box" and he just left. At this point we were just half way throught our meal. We were stunned because we never NEVER been push to leave in the middle of our meal. Actually we were never asked to leave ANYWHERE while still eating. At 10pm they purpose seat in front of us (the guy in charge and another female employee) just kept staring at us, showing us that they are ready to leave. It was really uncomfortable. We didn't say anything, pack up everything and leave. Being from the restaurant industry myself I was shocked of this practice, specially for a sitting restaurant. I must admit, we go to Sushi Garden almost every week and since other location opened we eat at this particular store less often but always go after shopping at Metrotown. I give 1 star because we have been going there for more than 15 years and the food is ok. 0 star for the service tonight, if we knew it will turn this way we will not leave any tips. I don't think we will go there anymore.

Disappointed - seafood noodle bowl was served in a nearly flat plate making it difficult to eat. Very little seafood.

I ordered a Deluxe Chirashi bowl last week. Most of the seafood were fresh, except for the raw shrimps (Amaebi). They had a very strong smell of bleach and taste like they were soaked in chemical solution. This is not the first time and it happened at all of Sushi Garden‘s locations, all of them, almost every single time. They must have used some kind of chemical to preserve the raw shrimps and the texture is also between slimy and crunchy, just weird.

I hope Sushi Garden will explain why and what they use on the Amebi shrimps.
