My pregnant wife ordered sushi from your restaurant Dec. 29th. After getting home and eating a few pieces we realized the beef that is supposed to be cooked was not, the bacon was basically raw. She came back to discuss this with your servers, they laughed at her and told her it's only supposed to be seared and we should of told them to cook it.on your site it said seared and cooked. My wife then asked for our money back and she was turned down, not even the generous tip was given back and she was sent out of the restaurant with the uncooked food. We have lived in the area for over 30 years and will never come back to your restaurant and will never recommend you to no one. Thanks for ruining myself, my wife and kids dinner, very classy

My husband and I went for dinner in restaurant Sushi Giwa and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was fresh and delicious. We were delighted.

I have eaten at Sushi Giwa since they opened, and every time I eat here I fall in love all over again. Everything is so fresh and expertly prepared, and don't get me started on the Monkey Brain's or this review will never end.

This is a go to sushi restaurant with my family ‍‍‍. It is spacious. Quality sushi with reasonable price. Their bento box is massive and can fill you with all the deliciousness yummmmmmmm

I think the cherry trees make the ambiance nicer! When we arrived on a Thursday around 8 p.m. It was not busy. We sat in a comfortable booth by the window. Within an hour, the restaurant was full. I guess this means it's a well-liked restaurant. There were 2 waiters on and they were very attentive and efficient. As many reviewers have mentioned, their bento boxes are huge. They use a serving tray. The beef teriyaki bento was $19.95. Tuna and salmon sashimi were fresh. We will be back.

Nice neighborhood sushi joint, that will definitely be added to one of my go-to's!

Dope sushi and solid joint! I'd happily come here often after a sweet visit to this joint. They make some rad sushi which was a delight to chow down on and grub there for lunch today. Nice fat and stuffed rolls with fresh tasting ingredients at good value. We got a Vegetable Combo with Dynamite Roll and Inari Roll which was comfortably enough between two people for lunch. I normally don't opt for the vegetarian Combo as the Vegetable rolls are boring but theirs were awesome! Fantastic menu of Japanese classics for hot/cold as well as vegetarian. Wakame Salad was a bit too dosed in sauce and Miso Soup 味噌汁 a tad salty.
Their Wasabi is also perfect, really fresh and vibrant.
Decor is really cool inside, I dig their makeshift cherry blossoms. Staff are also super friendly and kind.
It'd be awesome if they could offered brown/black rice alternatives and if the warm sushi (example Yam Tempura) arrived when warn would be awesome and elevate this to a 5 star review for me.

We went for a lunch and we had a good experience except when it's comes to use a washroom which is so narrow and dont have baby changing station if this is a family restaurant you should have it, it's so difficult go there with kids and don't have a place to clean them this make all the experience stressful and bad for parents.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The portions were bigger than usual sushi rolls. I loved the gurtill (?) big special too. So yummy!

Came in for lunch with a colleague and had a really great experience. They ordered the bento and I ordered the bimbim bap. The bento was huge and looked really fresh. The bimbim bap was so good. Served in a stone bowl so the rice got crispy. Service was really fast and they offered tea refills really frequently. A really great spot for a quick quiet lunch.

Ordered take out, we got the veggie box, customized dynamite roll, and bulgogi! That's right they have a selection of Korean food as well as excellent sushi and other Japanese dishes! The staff was friendly and kind! We'll definitely order from there again!

Got food poisoning from a take out order Sunday evening.
Ate the food at 7pm and by 8pm I was very sick. Throwing up and running to the washroom on the hour. It is now Tuesday and I am still feeling the brunt from all the dehydration. Have thrown up so much I have lost my voice

They don’t even deserve a 1 star. We ordered food online and they gave us a pickup time. The food wasn’t ready, which is fine. When it finally was and we brought it home we were missing a few dishes. Went back to get it and we saw another couple returning food that had mistakenly been given to them and overheard that it was our food. They turned around and gave the food to us, claiming it had been made fresh. We thought, ok, that was quick. When we returned home and opened it it had been touched and the box was broken. It was obviously the other people’s returned food. So back we went, again, to show them. They claimed it WAS made fresh. Had to argue that no it was obviously not. Now we are upset, 3 trips back, other ppls food, cold food at home. End of story they told us they could not make it fresh for us and gave us 20$ and not even apologetic for what happened. Unfortunately will never go back because on a night where you want easy takeout, it should not include leaving your house 3 times and getting other people’s food - any day, but especially covid times!

We frequent Sushi Giwa and the last 4 (evening) times we've been it’s become quite a pattern that the service has become extremely slow and you have to ask multiple times for an item. A little disappointed that this is becoming a pattern.

Tried for the first time last night and it was so good! I will definitely be back! This is going to be my new spot. Sorry, Sushi Town!

Rolls were good, i think they look a bit smaller now. Tempura I got was missing the dipping sauce. You can now order online, the site worked great.

This is a hidden gem, in my opinion.
The menu is not your traditional, but with a bit of fusion, with some Korean dishes. Is a perfect mix.
The service is very good, at time crazy, but they managed it very well.
Is one of my go to places even though have to drive from cross town

Great sushi place, we cleaned our plates to say the least! Nice atmosphere and good serbice. The chef's roll was good and unique. The Alaska roll was classic but I didn't like the heavy mayo to miso ratio in the sauce, personal preference though. The karaage was average, wouldn't order again.

I have been ordering take out orders from here for years and have always had a great experience until this past Friday, June 4th. Just want to let someone know how ridiculous it was that I ordered for pick up and when I got there, with several people in line waiting to pick up their food (but their food was not ready yet), I was told I had to wait to get my food that was literally the one and only order that was ready and sitting on the table. All I had to do was pay for it and leave while everyone else's food was not even ready. The cashier took payments from others and then those customers still had to continue to wait in line for their food. So wouldn't it have made sense to just let me pay for my food that was pre-ordered and sitting there waiting for me to pay? All I had to do was pay and leave whereas everyone else there still had to wait for their food to be ready anyways. The food is great here so I wouldn't stop ordering but just want to make a point.

AMAZING! We order here often, and it is fantastic every time. All orders are packed perfectly and they have never disappointed! Definitely recommend!

Food is always good! But the thing they wipe the table with smells so bad so whenever they bus a table before sitting it puts me off. Sushi is fresh and Devine tough so I will continue to eat there.

Come here for takeout every so often and they’re a decent neighborhood joint. I prefer them to the other spot down the block. Korean operated so you will find your typical Japanese selection as well as a wide selection of saucy specialty rolls. Nigiri can be hit or miss.sometimes the hamachi and toro will come out fishy.and I’ve had an instance of them serving me a rotten amaebi nigiri. Friendly staff is a plus!

Great variety of choices with new dishes in the menu. Ordered the deep fried California cheese roll which was amazing. The price is also reasonable. The restaurant is beautiful and quite and with polite staff.

I have never been there before today and boy was I glad that the other place that I go wasn't open. Fresh and delicious. Prices are on par. Can't wait to back for a full meal, not just the Salmon Nigiri and Ebbi Sunimono

Tried going here a few times in the past, poor quality sushi. The restaurant is under new management I thought I would give it a try.terrible portions, frozen hard tuna, bad quality tobiko.
New servers were nice which is good and more options on menu but I won’t be returning.

My fiance and I love this place! They recently had new management take over late last year, and I have to say I like it even more so now. The new menu is great, we really enjoy trying new items each time we visit! The rolls are my favorite, so many great ones to choose from!

I have always seen this establishment but never stopped by to try it. Recently dropped in for a dinner meal and was very satisfied with the food and overall the whole experience. Very spacious interior with plenty of seats to sit at, easy to get a table. The menu had an abundance of items to choose from, Nigiri, Sashimi, Rolls, Bento, Noodles and even a selection of Korean food.

The price is fair and portions are well worth it! I ordered the dinner salmon Bento and was very pleased with the meal!

Your average Vancouver sushi place. Good food, good service. I like the Sakura to in the middle of the restaurant.

This place use to be our regular place. The owner has changed and the quality dropped significantly. Rolls are smaller, and the food doesn't taste as good anymore. We need to find another place.

I like the tree in the middle of the restaurant. They have very comfortable seat boxes by the window.

I prefer more plain style of sushi with less topping just based on clean cut. That is why I don't give 5 stars. But it's definitely a very good restaurant.

I would recommend trying Giwa lunch combo.

TL;DR: Good food for the price, good service, but you get what you pay for.

I thought it was very okay. My partner and I ordered by phone and picked up our food from the restaurant, so our experience with the staff and the restaurant was very limited, but they seemed nice and it looked clean enough.

We ordered katsu don, chicken teriyaki don, tempura appetizer, pan-fried gyoza, and a California roll. It seems like a lot of food, but the portion sizes weren't huge. The rice bowls were good-they had a great balance of protein, rice, salad, vegetables, and sauce. The California rolls were decent. I felt the gyoza was fairly mediocre, the dumplings were a little tough and didn't have much flavour. The tempura was good, but nothing special.

Price-wise, it wasn't expensive, but for the quality I wouldn't call it cheap either. Our order in total, before tip, was about $40.

Overall, it was decent food. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there again, but I wouldn't avoid it if I was in the area and wanted some inexpensive Japanese food.

Very good sushi place. They have tons of varieties and pretty extensive menu choices.
They will accommodate your dietary needs.

Very nice quality of the dishes and the customer service was also very good. I’ve tried a lot of sushi places before but I definitely recommend this place.

Ordered the seafood soft tofu soup. I wouldn’t recommend it as it tasted like plain spicy salt water, no flavour, and it was extremely oily.

I didn't like the food. We tried a variety of rolls including the dynamite and they all had fake crab in them? I would have just ordered a California if that's what I wanted.

The food was so wonderful, my bf is little bit picky, but he loves it. Especially I recommend spicy korean chicken.

Went to get take out for lunch. The sushi/nigiri rice was hard. The beef teriyaki bento, the beef was super soggy, not enjoyable. Seaweed salad was literally a bite and a half. Tempura super oily. I've had take out from them before and it was pretty good but the last couple times have not been there.

It should be with no stars at all. Horrible service, Horrible food, Expensive too! I used to order here. But after what happened today, NO MORE! I dont recommend this place if you have issues with allergies or any other problems, they wont help you. They rather lose clients!

My favourite sushi place in Burnaby! I really love their Gangster Chef Roll and Crazy Boy Roll. Prices are on the affordable end and the service is excellent. I usually come here about once a week and now they remember my name.

Visited for dinner last week with some friends. We were all impressed with the quality of food and service. The sashimi was fresh and all of the rolls were delicious. Highly recommend!

I had dinner with my family on Victoria Day. I tried to call and reserve a table. Nobody answered the phone. By the time we got to the restaurant around 7 pm, it was maybe 20% full.

There were 3 servers but they spent most of their time hovering at the front counter minding the take-out orders rather than looking after the customers' needs inside the restaurant. We had to wait 15 minutes before placing our orders.

The food (both sushi, sashimi and BBQ ribs) was so so. Not tasty and small portion. The BBQ ribs were not hot.

The urinal in the male washroom had strong piss smell even after flushing it twice before use. It's disgusting.

With the poor service and underwhelming food, I will never go back again.

Was my favourite place, until portion sizes got cut to less than half, and the price got jacked significantly. Decent food, but so not worth it anymore.
