Sushi King House

Really disappointed with how food is packaged, so little food in such a huge box is a disaster waiting to happen in a delivery. Moreover, having the soy sauce container put in the same box as the food is a food safe violation.

Part of our regular rotation of places to get take out, and it never disappoints. Consistent quality, yummy food. Friendly staff.

Place is a ripoff now. Paid $17 for a tuna & salmon don with only 6 tiny pieces of fish

Been coming here for years, it's just as good as always. Seafood udon is still as delicious as it is huge, the nigiri are large and fresh, and the rolls are interesting. Surprisingly affordable for such good quality too.

Rolls are big as they advertise as biggest sushi in town. Taste is solid. Food arrived fast.

I love sushi king. My favourite is sakura and philadelphia special rolls. Lately I tried jalepeno bomb and miami heat. It was equally satisfying with the orange slices and the mango. It's definitely something different. I've become a regular customer. I've yet to try more types of sushi. The service is great and the restaurant is sanitary and well kept.

Went here with my girlfriend on friday, it was the best sushi we've both ever had. Large portions for cheap pricing, and the seafood is incredibly fresh. We ended up coming back 3 days later because we loved it so much!

ROTTEN SUSHI. Everytime I buy any salmon from here it taste and smells very bad. This has happened a bunch of times now and I can't keep giving them excuses. I don't think it's safe to eat any sushi from this establishment. Take caution.

Sushi is pretty good here, nice to dine in. Advise to get a half roll if you are ordering the house roll, they are called sushi king for a reason! It's pretty big. I always get their California roll and yam rolls as they are quite big and yummy - lots of other interesting things on the menu.

Always generous portion and good price. The BC sushi, and California roll is my favorite. Also the sushi combo and bento box. This is my favorite place of sushi restaurant

Server was non-existent, then proceeded to add on an automatic service charge to our bill for a party of 2

The California roll was bland and had too much rice. The chopped scallop also wasn’t flavoured enough. Disappointing for Vancouver sushi.

The size of the rolls were huge, as was the fish so you do get the size of two normal sushi pieces in one.

The service was subpar as the lady seemed rude, annoyed and didn’t seem to enjoy having to interact with us, and another customer came in asking to add miso to their noodle soup which she bluntly said “no”.

Such a sad day to find out that a good sushi business in cloverdale has been closed for good. Well it was great place to find a place to feed the family. Good quality food came out of this place. This place will be dearly missed from my family.

Food is okay. We tried to order 40 bento boxes two weeks in advance for our Christmas lunch on December 15, and Holly the owner said "We are too busy, don't want your order".

Two words. Bacon Roll. It has sushi asparagus and bacon on top with fried, crunchy garlic bits. Exceptional taste. If you are hungry order the House roll - you won’t regret it. Clean and great service.

I think their food is much better when eaten there, not takeout. I ordered the same thing both once dine in and once takeout, and for sure, the dine in Box A was much better, fresher, than the takeout version.

If you have any gluten issues, this is NOT the place for you.

While the sashimi portions are generous and they do have huge rolls, this restaurant primarily caters to those who want crispy crispy everything. No comprehension of gluten allergy at all.

We couldn’t order a simple maki avocado and shrimp roll that was steamed (not deep fried). They have steamed Ebi on sunomono salad but wouldn’t make it in a roll for us.

Not even gluten-free soy sauce! So silly in this day and age! Celiacs beware!

Number 1 choice for sushi restaurant in the area. Would love it even more if they close later than 8: 30pm on Saturdays

I've been coming to the Sushi King house since they opened and what a wonderful group of people. The food is absolutely delicious and the serving sizes are so generous, always top quality, very fresh and takeout is available as well. They have an large and extensive menu and their selection of sushi and cooked items is excellent. In fact it's a family tradition when picking up people at the airport to always head to Sushi King house for a wonderful welcome to Vancouver meal.

I absolutely love this sushi place! They have the biggest rolls and the price is so affordable. It’s a really chill vibe inside and the staff is lovely. They have a more hands off approach which I love so I can just sit and enjoy my food and when I do need something they are very helpful! Highly recommend!

Have been coming here since they opened (18-ish years). Food is delicious, HUGE, and very reasonably priced. I'm not adding pictures because I think one should go down and see for themselves amazing this food is! Well worth the trip!

Below average for the quality of sushi expected in Vancouver.

Ordered the assorted sushi combo on a weekend, shop was empty except for one table when I went in. The shop itself lacked AC, which explained the lukewarm sushi we got.

Even though we brought the food home right away, the Tai tasted fishy and unappetizing. The portions of rice were generous given their prices, but that's about it- hope in due time they can realize their lack in quality.

It doesn't matter how they prepare sushi with or without masks, what and how they do it, but I can't put the rating below excellent because they just have delicious sushi! How can I get 4 stars if everyone likes everything here? Low price and good service. A lot of people come there and everyone is happy. I highly recommend to try the dishes of this sushi house.

This was my first Vancouver sushi experience and it was amazing! I feel bad for the lady at the till somebody left with thier food after their card declined. She didn't deserve that because the food and service was really good. Good lunch specials too.

Kurt was fantastic, he really knew how to offer great service, excellent food. I would highly recommend you got visit and enjoy.

I went back here recently because I missed my giant sushi rolls you can only get at Sushi King! They have good lunch combos during the week - plus a new server there that is quite friendly and just all around awesome. Definitely going back soon.

Very generous portions, but quality is really soso. We ordered a prawn tempura, the batter is very thick and chewy. Other 3 special rolls, the Philadelphia Roll is generous with the cream cheese, but the salmon is a bit fishy… jalapeno bomb is interesting, but in general the freshness of food is not quite there. Sadly, we won't go back.

Food is great. Service is terrible. The young girl who works there now as a server is absolutely clueless and terrible at her job. Spends more time in the back on her phone than out in the restaurant serving customers. Takes orders wrong and forgets items.

Because of liking Sushi so much, when I was working in Vancouver I tried this place, very nice atmosphere, friendly staff and great food. I went here all the time I worked in Vancouver and was never disappointed.

This is honestly the best sushi place I've ever been to. The size of these sushi rolls are HUGE. Like 2 or sometimes even 3-bite sushi pieces.
I went here at least once a week when I lived nearby.
My favorite was the mega salmon roll. Their yam tempura roll is also to die for.

The WORST sushi in Vancouver. We ordered a few items to go. The ikura sushi and toro sashimi were totally not fresh!

I am so upset with their service I was speechless after I shared with one of the server that I felt the tuna did not taste very fresh today. Our table order assorted sashimi, three rolls, two salmon combo and appetizer. Other things tasted good and normal but two other friends at the table also felt the Tuna tasted fishy. When we told the server about this, she said no one else complained about it, she made a scene and walked across the rim to another table who was having dinner and asked one of the gentleman if he found the tuna not fresh, the customer shook his head, by now the whole restaurant was watching us. We are four adults with three kids, it made us feel so uncomfortable and angry the way she treated us. We still couldn't believe what just happened. Horrible dining experience, would never come back or recommending this to any decent person.

Usually do take out. If order 2 hours earlier get 5% off and if order a day before get 10% off. The food is good and rolls are the largest in town true to their slogan.

First time back there in years. The sushi is no longer as large as it was famous for, so my friends were a little disappointed that it didn't meet the hype I gave it. Waitress was very nice, but way overworked.

It isn't the best sushi place but the price is incredibly affordable considering the amount you get.

When they say that they have the biggest rolls, they don't lie about it. The rice can get a little dense probably because of the size so if you're famished this would be a good choice.

Overall the experience is good. Not great. Not bad. Good.

The service is extremely awful. The tuna and taco sashimi in assorted sashimi plate does not taste fresh at all. We politely reflected this to the shop, and the waitress confronted us being unreasonable and asked customers on other tables whether they feel the same. Ridiculous how they treated customer with no respect, despite of the poor food quality. Will not recommend this to anyone, be aware.

I have ate here today and am astonished at how a place can successfully make sushi so disgusting. Not to mention service was way below average. The portions are extremely huge, which doesn’t make it good it makes it hard to eat like a normal person. And they make the portions so huge because the quality is trash. The chefs don’t know how to cut the fish and the quality is very low. The taste and smell of the food and smell of the restaurant is abhorrent. Even my dog and cat refused to eat the sewage that they charged me $40 for. Thanks for giving me a strong appreciation for all the normal tasting sushi places in Vancouver. I would recommend NO ONE to come here. Close this place down. If it was socially acceptable I would show the horrible diarrhea this place gave me.

Pros: price, value, quantity, service
Cons: you get what you pay for, at average 1.50 a piece don’t expect premium mind blowing taste either.

After hearing good things from friends, my wife and I just tried Sushi King House for the first time. One word. UNREAL! Everything from the Sunomono (which could have been a meal in itself), to the gigantic serving of Tuna Sashimi, was absolutely wonderful. The rolls were not only the biggest I've ever had, but were clearly prepared with care and skill. Good sushi at a reasonable price is hard to find. Sushi King is now one of my top two places. I will be back.

Loved the place at first.
Only go before 5pm, afterwards they just serve the leftovers which are beyond not fresh. 3 times already I went after 5pm and both the salmon and tuna had a horrible taste like they had been left out all day. They try to hide the bad taste under spicy mayo but you could still clearly taste it.
Stopped going because of that.

How can this place have a 4.3 star rating? Anyway didn't have a good experience at all. Server totally messed up our order. No attempt to make it better. Food was average. Not a 4.3

I had read the reviews and saw the menu, and they both made me want to try the food. We went in on a Saturday after noon just before 4pm, so it was pretty quiet before the dinner rush. The menu has quite a selection, with reasonable prices. We ordered the chicken karaage and spicy agedashi tofu to start with, which both had 6 large pcs each and the tofu had a lovely spicy sauce on the side. The sushi in our combo was fresh and had large pcs, and the Miami Heat Roll is absolutely delicious. All the food was amazing!

Having said that - we ordered the chicken and tofu as appetizers but they arrived with the rest of the food, which all took super long to arrive. There was only one waitress, so the service was slower than most places.

The main thing I didn’t like was that they use the cheap bamboo chopsticks wrapped in plastic. The plastic is bad for the environment, and the chopsticks were terrible to use, and also would most likely not be composted as they should be.

I would definitely go back to try more, but I would bring my own chopsticks.

This is a small sushi restaurant conveniently located at south Granville. Very reasonable prices and excellent sushi. Polite staff and nice environment as well. Highly recommended

Takeout was done in less than 20 minutes. Food was alright. Just slightly fishy tasting compared to other places. Decent quality for price

The sushi was good, but their claim to have "the biggest sushi in town" is incorrect. The rolls at Samurai Sushi (both Cambie and Fraser) are much larger.

Oversized sushi that lacked finesse. Bigger is not always better. Also, ordered wild salmon nigiri and got farmed salmon nigiri instead. Otherwise, interior was warm and welcoming, and so was the server who took our takeout order. We really wanted to like the sushi after all the positive reviews, but we didn't.
