Sushi Mong Campbell River

Came across this restaurant while staying at Coast Discovery nearby. Wonderful ambiance, service and the food quality is great! Recommended to anyone in the downtown Campbell River area

The owner graciously adjusts the menu that catered to our diet restrictions. The lunch bento was scrumptious. Tempura was crispy, and california rolls were tasty. I won't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to family and friends.

Ok before walking in, the front looks a little rough, but don’t judge a book by it cover.inside it was perfect and the food was great however, I’m writing this to mention my waiter. That guy was on fire, best waiter I’ve ever had in my life. This guy payed attention to detail like I’ve never seen before. The single most polite, friendly helpful server I have ever seen. I live in Port Hardy but if I lived here I would have stolen him to work for me. I’m 55 and fat so just saying I’ve been to a lot of restaurants. Best server I have ever seen.

The service and the environment was nice. It has bigger space than I thought.
We ordered miso soup, a few different sushi, and edamame. Miso soup has a weird taste so we couldn't finish it. Sushi was fresh and tasty.

Delicious food and fun atmosphere. I really enjoy the selection of special rolls. They have wild caught salmon and real crab upgrades if desired. The prices are higher than some other sushi restaurants in town but it's worth it in my opinion.

We had the Campbell River roll, beef teriyaki, and Unagi don. All generously portioned and tasty. Price was really reasonable and service was friendly. Will definitely go back when we are in Campbell River next.

Great food and very attentive waitresses! Highly recommend, a bit on the expensive side but worth it for the good service.

Good solid sushi restaurant. If I were to change anything about the place it would be to have a slightly wider selection of fish available. Having said that, I don't know how practical that is in a fairly small city on Vancouver Island. They had uni and other things on the menu that weren't available either time I went. However, the food quality was high, the service was good and it was a pleasant surprise to find a place which competed with restaurants in much larger more metropolitan locations.

Found it to be super EXPENSIVE!
I ordered a spicy tuna & a house roll for lunch and it was 25.15! Definitely the most expensive rolls I've ever purchased. The sushi was good, I just didn't expect it to be that much for 2 rolls

You’d be hard pressed to find better sushi in Campbell River. It’s close to the Quadra Island Ferry terminal. The beef yaki udon and sushi won’t disappoint!

The ingredients are plentiful and fresh. The flavours are exquisite. Our server Hayden was attentive and efficient despite the busyness of both the dining room and takeout counter. It’s busy for a reason because they’re great at what they do! Service was surprisingly FAST.

The upgrade to wild sockeye salmon (vs farmed) was worth it to experience what this region is known for. Great value for the price.

The food is great but the staff are exceptionally kind and friendly, making Sushi Mong stand out. We will happily keep coming back!

One of my favourite places to get sushi in the valley! Their rolls are delicious and I find they are generous with their ingredients. The staff have always been so friendly and accommodating (dining in and for take out). Their tempura Is delicious (and not too greasy) and I find their wait times and prices to be very reasonable!

The food was very good, the sashimi was awesome and the presentation was great. I'm not one for all the mayo (western look) so I keep things simple. I'd recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Japanese and Korean food.

Definitely my favorite place to get sushi. They spoil you with reasonable prices and big servings/rolls. I can't go anywhere without comparing them to this place. The staff is super friendly as well.

Wow! Whenever I eat at a new restaurant, I always read the reviews. Mainly, the 1 & 2 star reviews. There are way, way too many of those for this restaurant, specifically complaining about the food, which says a lot about the people leaving the reviews. This is a fantastic sushi restaurant and is *extremely* fairly priced! Me and a friend had 7 rolls, an appetizer, and 2 sides of rice for under $60. The quality was awesome, very fresh ingredients and amazing flavor. I've eaten at 30+ sushi restaurants all over the island, and this is safely in the top 5. Staff are super friendly as well! Definitely worth coming here and I'll for sure be coming back the next time I'm in Campbell River!

Great take-out and very friendly staff. The sushi was fresh and delicious. A couple of the rolls were cut unevenly (some thin slices and some very thick ones) but it still tasted great and the portions were generous. We tried the Red Dragon roll - if you like a bit of a kick, it has a nice gentle heat and a very yummy flavour. We will be back!

Sushi was very good. Nice place. I was almost shocked when I got the bill. It was way less than I thought it would be. Friendly place and worth checking out.

The first time we tried Sushi Mong back when they first opened was horrible - we were served frozen sashimi! - but people keep telling me how good it is now so I thought I better give them a second chance.
WHAT A BAD IDEA!
After waiting 12 minutes by the front door and empty front desk someone FINALLY came and seated us. We had already had plenty of time to read the whole menu, so we ordered immediately, and a half an hour later were finally served lukewarm sunomono. The sunomono was brown.and tasted horrible - it had clearly been made with the wrong kind of vinegar. Then followed a course of completely flavorless tuna tadaki - a dish that should be quite flavorful, salty and spicy. And finally, the rolls.the rice was not cooked correctly. They were bland. The cold one was warm and the warm one was cold. I've never left that much sushi on my plate before - I can finish a roll from the grocery store, boring as those can be, THIS WAS WORSE!
I will never go back - I actually left the restaurant wondering if I should go to Miki's or Wasabiya to cleanse my palate.
DON'T EAT AT SUSHI MONG! Blech.

Good food, fair price, decent service. There is many unique items and provides a very tastey Korean style sushi.

Flexible ordering (bearing in mind it Sushi) tastey food and good service. It's one of the more affordable sushi restaurants in Cambell River. A couple can feasibly eat for just over $30. That's appy soup, two rolls. Sashimi. Add drinks it's still below average cost. Note it's pretty consistent cost with other sushi restaurants in Campbell River.

Average cost for a meal for two in Campbell River is about $56.00 including drinks.

Great place to bring your kids, they're very lovely people and have a little bucket of toys for kids to choose a prize at the end of the meal. Food is pretty great too, but definitely happiest to go here for the family friendly vibe.

The food is great and the staff are genuinely kind and friendly. Occasionally it takes a while for the food to come out, however this is always worth it.

Sushi mong is always quiet and comfortable, and the food their is my absolute favourite! I can't find a better sushi place anywhere on Vancouver Island.

Definitely try their crazy rolls, or the yakisoba.
