Once again attempted to order from sushi Mura River District. My family and I have been fans of this place since it opened. Unfortunately, the consistent price increases are just ridiculous. Wanted to order a takeout meal for myself tonight and stopped halfway through adding items to my cart simply because the prices are consistently going up. Portion sizes have also seemingly going down since the place first opened. I've always been a fan of the quality, and the service has been great. The restaurant is beautiful. There's no denying these things. I'm sad that the consistent price hikes, that don't actually match the prices of other great sushi joints in the area are such a deterrent. Funny, I flagged this to the restaurant couple years back. I mention this as other reviews about the pricing issue have responses from sushi Mura that state " they are reviewing their pricing structure". One such comment was left 3 months ago. Based on what I can see today, things have most definitely not improved in this department.

Amazing service and food! Our waiter with the pigtails was super attentive and kind! The only thing is the music was a bit loud but right after we asked to turn it down, it was much better. I’ll definitely come back. Thank you sushi mura!

Went there Tonite and found out they've updated their menu: a lot more condensed but concise.
Still delicious and would recommend!

As someone who consumes sushi often, I had high expectations for this restaurant. They definitely went above and beyond with their service— the staff was quite friendly, the quality of the food is great, and service was fast. I cannot recommend this place enough. Please visit when you’re in the area.

Prices have gone up exponentially that do not match their quality of sushi. There are other places more affordable with better quality. Unfortunately prices appear to go up every few months! $7 for California rolls or $22 for a spicy combo. Crazy!

Food was not as good as I remembered from a year ago. Spicy salmon sashimi was really salty (not sure if the salt and pepper were accidentally added)

A great location with plenty of tables in River district where there arent many options.

They are clean and service is great. Theres even hand sanitizer at every table and food is high quality/speedy.

Prices have come up quite a bit since they opened which is quite a bit more but inflation and possibly supply chain costs.

There's a lot of selection with even half orders for certain dishes. Portions are good and generally lots of parking downstairs or outside.

I have only ordered takeout from Sushi Mura but their menu has so much variety and their rolls are creative. The prices are a tad steeper than your standard sushi restaurants, but it is worth a try.

First time here with family. I was pretty impressed with the presentation and portion (special rolls). We tried Awesome Rolls, Guilty Pleasure, Mangodise, there're all pretty flavourful. Even the Alaska rolls were very good.
Would highly recommend this place, staff were very friendly and interior of the restaurant was very clean. I'm returning for sure!

The food is always great but I've had some pretty terrible service experiences both dining in and taking out. Everyone seems really unorganized and frantic most of the time.

Staff need training in giving excellent customer service, had to wait for 15 minutes before we decided to call them because we think the staff are not coming to get our orders.
Food was okay and edible but not worth the money. Ika Kaarage was something different, it was very chewy you can’t even break it in half, like a bike tire (not that i had chewed bike tire before) and when we told the staff when we are paying for our food that we can’t eat it because it was very chewy, she said “yeah” and didn’t even apologized, a simple sorry would haven’t been greatly appreciated.
The staff also doesn’t seem to know where they put the food on the table, two of the rolls we orderd was put on top of our napkins which is very odd and first time that happens to us (I hope the rolls tray are clean?).
And we also have to wait to pay and had to call them so we can get our bill.
This location need to learn from the staff from the Oak Street and 49th Avenue location. I work in the food industry myself so I know how it feels when customers are getting the right and excellent customer service.

Good variety of food. It's a Korean run sushi restaurant. Their spicy rolls and spicy sashimi are always good and consistent. Lots of specialty rolls to choose from. You can come here everyday and have something different.

Since the kitchen was swamped with takeout/delivery orders, our order for dine-in was noticeably slower. Was hard to get the servers’ attention but to be fair, they were pretty busy. Personally prefer the Oak St location over here, but still a good value sushi place in the neighbourhood

An odd bag to be honest. The fish is good quality but is unfortunately paired with lower quality items. The rice used in the rolls isn’t prepared well and was still hot from the cooker which made for an odd pairing with cold tuna, the tempura was very greasy (a sign of cold oil) and paired with the incorrect sauce and the chicken katsu was reheated by double frying. Maybe it was just a lack of time or ingredients. Hopefully other people received better quality items.

Superb quality. Just as good as the one on Oat! Their portions are generous. They were able to keep good qualities throughout all dishes. Even the Don Katsu I was expecting to be less exciting but I was wrong. And every in my party were happy for what they paid for! Keep it up Mura! Will see you guys soon!

Waited over half an hour for someone to come by and take our order. I watched as the staff took orders and checked in with other tables that were seated after us. Wasn't until we waved down the HOST to get a server to tell them we were leaving.

Vibe is good for a modern Japanese cuisine. Sushi and sashimi are fresh and generous. Service is efficient. The only thing that we find not as good as the agedashi tofu and maybe that was a glitch for early dinner.

Our go-to sushi place, mainly because of proximity—that said, the food is solid and consistent. Some of the special rolls are a bit too saucy but overall still very good. Portions are decent and price is on the slightly higher end. They can get quite busy but will always pick up the phone—a huge bonus, so you can at least get an idea of wait times and estimates.

The ingredients is very fresh and the portion size is generous. The sushi rice can use a little more flavour. Still one of the best Japanese restaurant in the area.

I got food poisoning after eating here.

Ordered 2 Alaska roll.

Pieces would fall apart and not stay together.

Will never order from here again.

Ate here with family and we had poor service. The waitress got an order wrong and also didn't serve us the drinks we ordered in a timely manner.

First time trying sushi Mura. I placed an order online for pick up. I arrived early and they were nice enough to accommodate by getting my order out promptly. The lady at the front was very pleasant.

Sushi was decent, nothing that was mind blowing though.

We have been coming to Sushi Mura River District since it opened. Up until recently we have never been disappointed. Two of the last three visits have been disappointing with this third visit being atrocious. Almost every roll that had avocado was brown, and not just a little brown but rotten brown. It begs the questions of how could a chef making these miss this? Or do they serve this for take out hoping you don’t notice till its to late? Or hoping you don’t care enough to complain.
I also wonder if they make it early because we phoned our order in at 2pm for a 5: 45pm pick up. I don’t know what has happened to Sushi Mura’s quality the past few months, but I will be looking elsewhere for my Sushi take out until they fix this quality issue. The picture below is disgusting, and now I just hope I don’t have/get food poisoning!

The Korean servers are inattentive and rude, especially the female with purple hair. They seemed to bully the non-Asian servers and let them do most of the tasks. That guy Rafael and the other female white trainee are the only decent servers.

I order in Uber but it was missed one order I phone them but they just say sorry/they charge me a. 50 cent for a bag but the driver just delivered as it is in the container and the my gamma salmon is not there/my request cutlery and missing order too…then they just sorry and if I want I can pick it up what a waste isn’t that’s why we order delivery they need to check and also the Uber driver too just a common sense I order 2items and they just give me missing order…. Now how can I eat and enjoy my dinner?

Too Slow! Too unprofessional staff! I don't know how they get good reviews by giving this kind of service to the people. I have been waiting here for more than 20 mins for skipthedishes order which is extremely unexpected & unreal! There is a system of maintaining the deliver service, no delivery driver is supposed to wait that long for a picking up a order. You need to educate hour staff that the drivers doesn't get any extra payment for waiting them!

You guys wasted my time! If you don't know how to manage everything then just manage what you have on hand now, don't take new orders or don't accept new deliver orders as well! Wait till you finish all then accept new orders! Keeping everyone waiting is extremely bad service!

Sometimes you see photos of what the experience is like in the restaurant but you wonder what it is like as take out for a fast lunch option while you are at work. Well, I have to say their takeout is just as good as eating in and very good. Will have to order lunch from here again in the future.

We ordered take out from this location. Upon arriving home, we realized we were missing an entire order of sashimi. This is typically understandable but this has happened before on another occasion, in which we were provided the option to return to the restaurant to pick up the order. We thought that was a one-off situation, but we were extremely disappointed to experience this yet again. In the end, the staff delivered us the missing order… but the delivery was made late and after we had already finished our meal. The customer service was also not on par, with the staff emphasizing over the phone that “there will not be a next time” in terms of delivering us our missing order when we called in to inform them of our missing order. Next time? We were not the ones who missed the order… There will not be a next time.
This has not only been a waste of my time, but has also spoiled our meals. In combination with the significant increase in prices, we will no longer be ordering from this restaurant again.

It was fairly busy when we visited on an early Sunday afternoon. We were able to sit down right away but it took a bit of time before we were served tea. Sushi Mura is a staple for us, it's affordable and tasty. The tuna sashimi here is consistent, it's never been too fishy or metal in taste. I find the sushi rice here softer than other places. A great thing about this location is there's ample parking!

This place was our go to sushi place in the neighbourhood, but they have just lost a loyal customer. This is not the first time our family has experienced a missing order but this is the first time we were met with such poor and rude customer service for their own mistake. We were very understanding the first time and would have been again if not for their service. Please double check your orders before leaving especially if you ordered the assorted sashimi.

So disappointed!
I live by the restaurant, I used to go there alot.but yesterday it was my wedding anniversary and the mother’s day and I decided to treat myself by one of their combos. I went to the restaurant.it was before 8pm I believe and I know they close at 9 pm, I went to the CS who was in the counter I told him I want to make a new order, he went to ask I believe someone in the kitchen and when he came back he said I am sorry we can’t take any new orders right now! I was like oh, okay
So disappointed
I am a loyal customer and you lost me for good.

We love to order from sushi Mura, but we find it’s really hit or miss. Sometimes it’s delicious, and other times the sushi rice tastes old, & the rolls are inconsistent in taste. Tonight our dynamite roll tasted like the tempura was days old. Kind of disappointing considering our bill was over $50.
I just want to update my review by saying that the owner of Sushi Mura was in touch and has been really great about our complaint. We will continue to order from there in the future!

Let me start by saying this place is always busy, extremely busy and they manage it well! Since it opened the food is fantastic and it has become our favorite sushi restaurant. We were ordering from here often to the exclusion of other sushi restaurants. I went to place our typical family dinner order the other day and was disappointed and heartbroken to find the following. Typically, when ordering from this restaurant we would spend between $50 to $55. Shockingly our proposed bill was over $70. We did not order anything different than we normally would. Our bill also included a mandatory $0.25 paper bag charge. There is no option to bring your own bag or to opt out of this bag charge. When you couple that with an $20+ price hike overall this restaurant is no longer one we will be ordering from. I would like to be very clear our experience with the food and service over the last few years has been fantastic but I do feel that a sudden increase of this magnitude is just too hard to swallow in principal. I am not posting this form a judgmental perspective, simply an informative one so that everyone can decide for themselves if the increase is worth it. To us it simply is not.

I have been a loyal customer for a long time. I really enjoyed the taste and the quality of food. Sometimes my order was mixed up, sometimes I had to wait extra 40 min to get it. Although I wasn’t happy at the time, I understand that nothing is perfect. What really turned me off are the recent prices. Again, I understand that everything is more expensive now but to increase the prices so significantly (25-30%) is not ok. Well, I am taking my business somewhere else. There are so many other good sushi restaurants around

Really nice interior! I liked the space and the service was great. Sushi was very fresh and delicious. The seafood salad actually had a lot of seafood in it. I especially enjoyed the salmon blossom which is highly recommended. I would definitely come back.

Rice is "normal" - is not soft and tender - not enough sweetness or vinegar? Seaweed also chewy. Sushi rolls very mediocre. Did not have satisfied feeling after the meal during this weekday night April 2022 visit. Surprised at the high reviews.

Our company ordered almost $200 worth take out, and all the nigiri was really bad, all of them were very dry. I have never seen Hamachi that dry in any sushi restaurants before. The good part was that their rolls were tasty. I am not sure if I had to ask for chopsticks and soy sauce, but my take out bag did not contain any. Overall, all my co-workers were not so happy with the quality of the sushi. I personally like rolls, so I might go back for the rolls but not for Nigiri or Sashimi.

Food overall has been consistent. However take out packaging has not been the greatest. Sushi Take out is a huge part for Sushi Mura and it can get busy but on multiple occasion my food was been placed upside down. I have had time where I arrive late and am still waiting for my order but yet half my order is warm and the nori is soggy. Last but not least. The recent increase has been a bit overwhelming.an avg of 10-15% increase due to inflation and rise of cost can be understandable but most option have increase over 25-30% which I feel is a bit too much and with the increased price.there now competing against sushi restaurant who strive for quality.which if compared 1: 1 mura is far from great.

The sushi here tastes amazing. BUT, every time we shop here, they get our order wrong. The most recent time we visited the restaurant was today. We had pre-ordered my mother’s birthday dinner for take-out for 2pm. It was all payed for. My mom went in to pick up our items at 2pm and was given an attitude. Then she had to wait 10 minutes after being told “we’re making it now. ” This is unacceptable service especially towards my mother on her birthday. I was very sad to hear how my mother was treated on her birthday.
