Swans Liquor Store

Stopped in looking for a certain Gin and unfortunately not to be found. However, Mike the proprietor mentioned Ford's London Dry Gin and offered a sample. So, guess what? We purchased a bottle. Thank you Mike.

Second time here. Walked in and greeted the staff. There were 3-4 staff members talking amongst themselves. I walked over to the ciders. Nobody came to assist me (this store requires staff to pull product from coolers).

Someone walked in after me and they assisted them even though I was first and the only one in the store previously.

Pretty dumb behaviour. I won’t be returning.

Neat place. It’s entirely counter service, which I found interesting - staff are friendly and happy to help you find exactly what you’re looking for.

It's very nice and they do serve you but easily 10+ more $ on any order, then you would get at 99% of other stores downtown

You are not even allowed to look at the wine selection.all products are blocked from view, and the staff are not helpful. This is a terrible retail concept, predicated understandably by the rise in crime downtown. Such a nice wine selection, locked away.

Counter service only, you cannot browse the inventory. The prices are also quite high compared to other liquor stores in the area.

You can't actually browse any of their product. Bit of a snobby way to do business, and not the way to encourage people to try new things. I suppose if you know exactly what you want it'd be ok, but seems a pretty bad way to run a liquor store.
