Stoked by how great my first surfing experience was! Didn't expect I would get up, but I did, four times! My brother and I had an awesome time with Aran, who my brother says was the best instructor he's had (helps that the man is a fellow Dubliner!) I highly recommend Swell for lessons and/or gear, and will be back!

World class surf school with friendly & knowledgeable staff. The Tofino water isn’t as cold as you think. The wetsuit makes all the difference. Highly recommended!

We had a positive experience with Swell Tofino. The surf lesson was well-organized and enjoyable for the boys. Jasmine was very professional and very knowledgeable and put the boys at ease before hitting the waves. They had an amazing surf session. We highly recommend Swell Tofino.

Booked super last minute and thought the trip will be a disaster due to my last minute changes, but experienced a very friendly staff team and accommodations to difficult situations. 10/10 would recommend for everyone!

I stayed at hotel Zed by myself and was at Swell everyday renting bikes, surf boards & wet suits! I took surf lessons with swell and had the best time and loved my instructors. I went back the next day and took advantage of my 10% off on surf rentals. All the staff at Swell were so friendly and helpful- I will definitely be back!

Ally and Kate were really awesome instructors! We got lucky with a middle of the week, March lesson and got a private lesson for the cost of a group lesson. They were knowledgeable, thorough, and gave clear and helpful feedback. Both my partner and I were able to stand up and had so much fun. Would recommend to anyone!

We had such an amazing time with Swell! Emre and the entire team were so great with accommodating our large group booking. On the day of our lesson, Ali, Aran, and Mack were perfect- the right amount of "Chill" and "Business". We felt safe, learned so much, and had the best time ever! I'm a nervous newbie surfer who opted for a winter lesson and I am so glad I went for it! Randy was an incredible instructor - he took the time to explain everything thoroughly and helped ease any worries we might have. We had a great time. Everything went according to the instructions provided to us before the lesson. The beach (Cox Bay) was just a 5 minute drive from the wetsuit pickup location. Our instructor, Sin, was fantastic and gave us a little extra time because we had gotten slightly delayed.

My one piece of constructive criticism would be that the time spent in the water was a little short. If around 30 minutes could be added to the time that would be perfect!

It was our first time surfing and we had an absolutely UNREAL experience at Swell - everyone was so kind and our instructor Sin was awesome! He really took his time explaining every detail from wave mitigation, the board itself, and giving us pointers from every wave we caught.he truly made our experience unforgettable and we learned so much!

Amazing day of surfing! I finally got up on the board multiple times all thanks to Fellipe. He was so patient, such a great teacher, and a really fun guy to hang out with! You can’t go wrong with Swell Tofino.

I can’t remember the ladies name but she was amazing. She was great with my boys. She was very informative and really friendly. My boys loved her. The guy who helped us with the wet suits was amazing as well. Really helpful and kind. Great with the boys. Swells is a great place.

I had such a great lesson with Swell - the instructor was knowledgeable, patient, and a lot of fun. The check-in process was seamless and everything was ready to go, definitely worth doing if you're in the area!

Our experience with Swell Tofino was really great, all the people we met were super friendly, the boards and wetsuits seemed pretty new and Alana did a great job explaining and guiding while we caught waves. 100% recommendation

I had a great group lesson. Our instructor, I think her name was Elle from Aus, was great. Everything was like clockwork. Met at Swell at the hotel, got fitted for wetsuits, headed over to Cox Bay, went over some techniques and terms in the sand, then got in the water. I learned a lot in the 3 hours and it was a great experience. Plus it was a really perfect day of waves and weather!

We had a fantastic time learning to surf with Swell. Josh was kind, patient, and extra encouraging which is super important since it's a hard skill to pick up. Love the stickers at the end. We'll definitely book with them again!

Amazing first experience for surfing. Great instructors with good advice and a lot of experience. Would recommend it if you wants to try it. For my part, it was at Cox Bay, nice beach with good waves.

This is my new go-to surf shop in Tofino! Gear was plentiful (we booked bikes with board racks last-minute on a Saturday) and in great condition, check in/out was simple, and staff was incredibly accommodating and helpful. Beachside location is convenient too!

Our experience with Swell was excellent. When we first stopped by their place at Mackenzie beach they were very friendly and helpful. They answered a ton of our questions without any high pressure sales. We enjoyed the first interaction so much so that we decided to book a surf lesson with them the next day.

Our surf instructor Albey was amazing. Me and my two children (10 & 7) had a private lesson with him due to the ages of my kids. His instruction was encouraging and insightful. He was able to point out small things for each of us to work on to make each of us better. He coached each of us at our level and challenged us to try new things. Everyone not only got up surfing but also vastly improved over the course of the lesson. He also left us with things to continue to work on to improve during the course of our time surfing in Tofino.

I would highly encourage anyone to use Swell for their rental or surf lesson needs.

You need a method of transport from swell office to the beach, typically a car, but we used bikes & it worked out well!

First off, the instructors were friendly and good coaches. But, I arrived at 1: 20pm for a 1: 30pm start, as per the booking, to make sure I was on time. We didn’t head to the beach until about 2: 10pm. Then we spent a while on land going over some safety and basic theory. All good. In the water around 3pm. We got just over an hour in the water with the group instructors. All done at 4: 10pm.

In summary, nice, knowledgeable instructors, but simply not enough time in the water. I’m told that this is time is common for the Tofino surf schools, in which case I’m perplexed why so little time in the water is provided. That’s where the real learning happens.

Swell took care of us from start to finish. From answering questions to getting my kids all decked out in gear to excellent, attentive, positive and personalized training! My two non surfing kids were able to get up on their boards in pretty big waves with confidence after only a few short hours. I truly feel like I have given them a gift for life. Now all they need to do is practice and soon I’m sure they will tackle the big waves. I’d like to thank Swell for providing a safe and positive experience to my previously nervous teens! Awesome!
