Really good food at a decent price. Would come back for more, the hot plates are pretty tasty but quantity could be a little better. Recommend the chicken and the bibimbap.

Nice and friendly atmosphere with a great attendant who was able to serve a full restaurant with a good attention to everyone. The food was nice, hot and well presented. I quite enjoyed the Grape flavoured drink: D

The food portion was less than what I expected, even you have to order minimum of 2 for one kind of protein. There was only one server for the whole restaurant when I went, so I thought the service was not very attentive. For what I have paid, don’t think it was a great dining experience.

The chicken hot plate is delicious, I came back couple times for it. Today I decided to try the crab hot pot, and it was disgusting. Don’t ever try the seafood option here. Also don’t order the special tabom chicken is like mediocre at best. Not worth the $20. Two of us ate and costed $80 plus tips.

The food is so so good! A bit on the pricier side, but is so worth it. The staff are super accommodating and overall is in my top 5 restaurants in the area.

Food is average. Nothing outstanding. Some of the reviews are totally over rated. Not worth a trip if not close by.
Very rude and slow service. Insisted charging 18% of tips while we have four adults and three kids. Asked for chopsticks and water many times and they still forget. Have to get them ourselves in the end. Obviously short staffed. The service is not match the price at all. Will not come back again for sure.

While the food here was good, the service and misleading menu were really disappointing. We viewed the menu before arriving and were excited to have some beers with dinner, but when we tried to order some Asahi, we were told the only beer they had was bottled Corona. Disappointing, but we ordered it anyway.

Despite the unique style of food and serving format, the server never asked if we had visited before (I later learned they do this at the downtown location so they can provide suggestions and guidance). We made our selection and when it was brought out, the server placed it on the grill, ignited the flame, and left. We didn’t know if we had to wait for anything to cook, if there was any suggestions for how to eat, etc. He also didn’t explain what any of the side dishes were.

Service was slow so when the server finally came back ten minutes later he realized the burner wasn’t working and our food hadn’t stayed warm, the egg hadn’t cooked, and the cheese hadn’t melted. We eventually got it working and the food was great, but the (lack of) service left a bad taste in our mouth.

Given that this place is so different from what you’d encounter in a western-style restaurant, they should definitely be more attentive and helpful. They should also update their drinks menu if they will no longer carry the advertised beverages! Definitely go for the food, but don’t expect much beyond that.

Amazing food and I absolutely love coming here. I always order the spicy squid or the dokdoggi. I have been here 10 times and the food is always great. Also they know how to make food nice and spicy

My only issue is the 2 hour time limit. I came with 6 friends and the restaurant really rushed us to leave. My issue is it took a long time to get food, which is fine. I did not like how little time they gave us to finish our food and drink, especially when the bill was over $300

It’s been a while seen I’ve been to Toedam, I didn’t even know they’ve renovated. It is one of the best Korean bbq restaurant for our family. After the reno it definite made the restaurant more spacious! Yum~

Went to this place yesterday and ordered 3 bam chickens, had to wait a whole hour for them to just say 'could you please pay first'. Waiter told us to give 15% tip because we had more then 5 people at a table.the chicken was good but the wait was just too long.

I've been here twice now and both times I've been happy with their food and attentive staff. The food is tasty. I don't remember what I ordered exactly the first time but the 2nd time we ordered a hot plate (chicken) plus added corn, cheese and egg as extras. As a side we ordered some rice and ramen noodles however when the noodles came we didn't realize we were given the potato noodles until we we nearly slurped the last noodle. We told the waiter who apologized for the mix up and comp'd both noodles which we didnt expect. We also ordered the cold buckwheat noodles, which by the way was delicious! The flavors were unique and the blend of Mustard and vinegar even though doesn't sound appetizing was actually really yummy.

Even though there was only one server at the time we arrived, he acknowledged our patience and managed to help us out with the menu and even came back 3 or 4 times to help us cook the chicken on the hot plate.clearly we didn't know what we were doing. Haha. Regardless, I really appreciated his attentiveness.

The ambiance was nice. The back wall looked like a faux brick wall, and there were string lights hung above to make it look like we were sitting at a street market.

The only downside is that parking is bit annoying. That it.

Terrible service, I waited 5 minutes and they didn’t acknowledge me and told me that it was sold out and they can’t serve us even though we have called them and they said that last call is at 9pm. Staff lied to me that they were sold out and my friends ordered it and they accepted the order. When we got our order it was wrong and it was missing one noodle and they took it back saying that they are going to repackage it, probably dividing the noodle into three sigh use to me my favourite restaurant but never going back!

Although I do love this restaurant, we tried to go here for mother's day weekend and we had received the worst customer service. I wanted to reach out to the restaurant in private by no form of contact can be found anywhere. I have eaten here a number of times and I have always recommended my friends and family to try this place out for it's authentic and great taste. We had arrived at maybe 8: 30pm-8: 45pm. The server at the front had taken down my mother's name for a table- there was only about a 2 table wait. We had just waited outside for majority of the time and not until about 9pm we started to just wait from our car which was just upfront in the handicapped spot. We had seen some tables leaving so we went outside thinking we were going to be called next. At 9: 10 the server who took our name down came out and said that last call was at 9pm and we can not be seated anymore. She is the same one that took down my mother's name but DID NOT inform us that last call was going to be at 9pm - but still proceeded to take our name down for a table. I now live in Victoria and I had made the trip down to Vancouver to spend time with her for that weekend and we also come from Richmond. If we had just lived near by I wouldn't be writing this review/complaint. The server did not try anything but just said Sorry to us and looked sad. It wasn't until the manager was nice enough to listen to me and asked the kitchen to make an exception. By this time my parents were already upset and refused to dine here because we would probably be served the last bits of food and the staff would want to get us out of there as fast as they can so they can also go home for the night. I am extremely disappointed for a restaurant I look forward to going to when I am on the mainland. I had only wished the server who took down our name was more communicative with me/our family and did not make us wait ONLY to turn us away because she did not originally inform us of last call and did not make any effort to correct her wrong. Will not be returning her for a while.

Tteok-bokki hotplate was plentiful for two people, especially with the banchan. There was a little bit of everything including chicken katsu, pork and beef bulgolgi, fish cake, hard boiled egg and gyoza. The menu picture shows cheese and ramen noodles, be mindful those cost extra. However, the server ensured to notify us of this as soon as we ordered, which we appreciated. We ended up ordering cheese as an add on, which was pricey at $5. The food was delicious, the meat juicy and flavourful, the rice cakes had the perfect chewiness to them.

Such a bad experience here! We came here at 8: 20pm, and the waiter said we had to wait for about half an hour and last call would be at 9: 00pm. I understood it was quite popular, so we didn’t mind to wait. We seat in at 8: 50pm and was thinking to order bbq, but we were told that there was no more bbq because it had passed the cut off time. What? ! The waiter never told us at all while we waited and we came here just for bbq. They ended up offer us the bbq which I appreciated.
However, another nightmare started after we ordered. Another half an hour wait just for the raw meat (pork belly only) There was no cheese when they served the food and we asked if they missed it. They said they sold out cheese earlier today. What……WITHOUT any notice againnnnn? ! They really have a very Bad communication, the owner should give all your staffs a proper training! They wasted our time and killed our mood for whole night! The pork belly was so so, it was a thin cut. Definitely never come back and would not recommend to everyone if you are craving for pork belly bbq, don’t waste your money!

Tried calling the restaurant many times regarding the last call time, no answer. Arrived at the place at 8: 50, wrote our name down, and waited 15 minutes just for a "sorry our last call was at 9". Just change your closing time to 9 then, 10 is absolutely not true.

Quick and friendly service. The beef bulgogi was really good. It didn’t come with rice or noodles so you’d have to order on the side to feel full. Overall a decent Korean place to hang out with friends.

I was lucky to get a place right away on a weekend at 6pm. Service was good and so is the food. We had the spicy pork and mini octopus. It was a tad spicy but will be awesome for a winter's day.

23rd Dec: Went for the stir fry octopus on rice today. I should have stick with the hot plate.

Casual vibe Korean were you can have a great full meal. We had the Signature Tteok-Bokki which I would hands down recommend to other first-timers as it gives you variety without having to think to hard about it. We also ordered some of the galbi-tang and mandu which really rounded out the meal. The mandu was beautifully golden and crispy and stuffed with flavour.
Very decently priced menu. At $35/ person we feasted on food and drink.

Poor service. Put our name down and was told there would be a wait, which is fine. Waited 1 hr while they had multiple empty tables. The host ended up seating tables further down the line which was enough for us to want to find a different restaurant.

Great food, friendly waitress, clean dining environment, and pretty good price!

The porportion is generous and the food is well seasoned. Comparable food quality in Richmond or Vancouver would be 20-30% higher in price.

The only down side was that there was only one waitress working on the floor, and she managed to serve like 7-9 tables at the time when we were there. Meaning, yes, it's slow in service, but we understand she is already trying her best.

The experience here was ok. The host/server can be more friendly but they did their best. They made us stand outside in the rain even though most of the party was there and it wasn’t that busy.

The food was good but my friend ordered the chicken wings and the fried chicken in plain flavour so if wasn’t anything special.

She also ordered the kalbi ribs but we got the soup instead which was still flavourful. Japchae and seafood pancake you can get most places. I think overall there was better Korean places close by.

Don't eat the cheese when it's boiling hot. This place had a great atmosphere and a relatively decent priced menu. Would recommend on a date 5<3 out of 5

I ordered 1 Nakji-deopbap (낙지덥밥) & 1 Bajirak-Kalguksu (바지락 칼국수) today.
Nakji had a strong green onion scent. It tasted a bit bland and it seemed not cooked enough. So I thoroughly cooked it again and added some spicy galbi sauce that I orginally have. It turned out much better.

Bajirak- Kalguksu was alright. Nothing too special with MSG taste. The noodles were overcooked by the time we ate it. (15mins after pick up)

Overall, the reviews I read that made me choose Nakji-deopbap is overrated so much.

Best restaurant in Coquitlam hands down. Believe me I lived in this K-town for 23 years and I've nearly tried all the Korean restaurants in Vancouver. Bite for bite, the most crisp and tender Korean chicken around. Their boneless is often sold out and for good reasons too. Other main offerings are creative in their methodology and although it doesn't evoke the traditional Korean taste, it is a very trendy fusion of the East and the West.

Finally, the service that I receive even for take outs is nothing short of heart warming. There is no need to embellish it but what needs to be said is that the servers care about presentation, their demeanor and they're conscientious enough to go the extra mile. From the monotony that is the service industry these attributes takes incredible effort and it makes all the difference.

The food was excellent, the fried chicken was perfectly seasoned, and the flavour of the signature tteokbokki was quite balanced with all the different meat. The cheese and ramen was really worth it. Great atmosphere, nice vibes. Excellent customer service as well.

Ordered the chicken set and set everything up, I was just about to take a bite when I see a piece of hair in the batter of the drum I picked up and it instantly ruined my appetite. Not only did we find hair in one of the boxes BUT BOTH BOXES that we ordered. Who knows how many people got hair in their chicken today. Ofc I still had some of the chicken and it was actually very good. If only there wasn’t hair in it.

The food was delicious and the take out box combo was really useful. The staff was very kind and helped with recommendations. The twinkle chicken is really delicious and I'd recommend it if it's your first time visiting

I heard about this place online and had to go try it! This place is AMAZING and did not disappoint. I will definitely be going back!

Really yummy Korean bbq! We got the baby octopus and the server basically takes it out of the kitchen pre-assembled (raw), and helps you cut up the food and keeps an eye on it while it cooks in front of you. Dipping the food in the melted cheese was sinful but sooooo delicious.

We also ordered the fried chicken and it was excellent. Also we dipped that in the melted cheese even though we ordered the chicken that already comes with cheese: P

The side dishes that come with the meal are unlimited! Your server will likely ask if you'd like a refill when you're almost done. So that's awesome. Left feeling super full!

One of my favourite places for 닭갈비 (not pictured)! The level of spice is perfect and the options for different sides like cheese, corn etc is very nice. I haven’t had a chance to try other korean dishes here, but I can imagine it tasting very good. The prices are reasonable and the restaurant is very clean. The staff are very attentive and quick.

Feel authentic here, the signature hot pot is great! With a lot of options for add-on.

The price is at a higher range, but I think it feel authentic. If you want good Korean food this is the place to go.

The only complaint is that when we were there the restaurant was short-staffed, so the ordering process was slow.

Always great service and food at this location on Austin Ave. Staff are very friendly and quick to ensure your empty plates are cleared and tea refilled. Food is always good and on point as with all Ta Bom locations. Love the chicken wings!

I've been coming here since it opened. Great food, great service and great atmosphere! Makes me feel like I've been teleported to Korea everytime.

Love this place! The food is delicious! It's clean and friendly. Only thing was that they needed another person to help wait the tables - had one guys Manning everything. He did a great job so no star deduction, but would've been easier if he had help especially to get rid of dishes a bit quicker.

Visited Ta Bom for the lunch service. We were greeted at the door, sat down and provided menus seamlessly. The location is small, but that does not take away from the dining experience. Facilities were very clean and had a nice modern design to it. Service was friendly and helpful. MJ was very personable. We ordered the Hot Plat # 1 Dak-galbi. It was the firs time for me and i was very impressed. I grew up in Coquitlam when the Korean wave appeared on the scene bringing restaurants and business. I feel confident saying I've had my fair share of Korean plates. I am glad to recommend this location to anyone. Cold day, drop in have a meal & grab some drinks. This place will not disappoint you. I look forward to trying the other dishes. Talented chefs in the neighborhood, that is for sure. 5 Stars!

The food was tasty and overall the experience was good. The staff were friendly but not very attentive. We had to ask for more tea everytime we wanted a refill.

We split the big soup and the price for 4 people was reasonable.

You can adjust spicy level if you can't take spicy food. Excellent service and food was overall good. Stir fried rice was good too.

The cosy kitchen is welcoming from the moment you enter the door. It has a warm vibrant ambient atmosphere and we were greeted by a friendly waitress. Went there with family. The spicy popcorn Chicken and stir-fried spicy chicken was amazing

Amazing Korean Cuisine! We really enjoyed everything we ordered. We ordered their signature Fish Cake hot pot with sausage side, and half cheese/half corn, and added ramen for $3. We also ordered the Tadom chicken with cheese, which is like their fried chicken, except the cheese didn't really melt. The stonepot rice was really delicious. The noodles for clam noodle soup was cooked directly into the soup (I feel) so the broth was more floury rather than clear.

Wonderful newer style Korean place with the big hot k bbq plates used for their food, have been several times since my husband discovered it. Had the spicy pork bb this time around. The pork was tender and well marinated but still had a mouth feel not like over marinated meat, the sauce is spicy and sweet at the same time. Comes with egg and corn on the sides of the plate, some veggies, rice cakes with pork. $30 for 2 people. Service on point every time we've been, always come around with water or tea.

This place is amazing I am never disappointed! Very comforting food in the cold if you like hot pot and their service is always impeccable! Prices are really good too. Their spicy chicken hot plate with cheese and corn is one of my favorite dishes! We always end up staying for a couple hours! Even if you drop in for just a few drinks they have amazing wings and fried cheesy chicken and spicy shrimp! Definitely check this place out!

We had the hot plate with spicy octopus and added cheese and rice. Staff was a tentative and courteous. The food was very flavorful. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed the food here and the service is fast/friendly. The establishment is clean and presentable. I was tempted to get the dakgalbi (great deal), but ended up getting some cold noodles and the "Baaaam" chicken platter instead, since I was with someone who didn't want to eat spicey. The noodles were nice, chewy and refreshing. The platter was good too, the batter on the fried chicken is the thick, crunchy, "buttermilk variety" with 6 dips and also came with deep fried rice-cake and cheese. We came when it wasn't as busy during lunchtime but I can see how parking might not be as accommodating during peak hours around here. This place has a trendy atmosphere for good food and drink with friends.

Unprofessional staff. Spilled corn into our drinks and didn’t replace the drink. Spilled a glass of water all over us. Grease splattered all over my top and pants from the hot frying pan. The food wasn’t good at all. The cheese was very cheap and ultra greasy. The beef was fatty and chewy. I would not recommend. Didn’t take any photos as this was simply just not worth it. It was extremely hot in the restaurant. There was minimal venting. We all asked for ice water but the ice machine wasn’t working so we had lukewarm tap water in jumbo plastic cups.

Amazing food, some of the best I've had in the area. Just the right amount of spice and tons of food.

Worst customer service ever. Ordered a Tabom chicken and the server brings over a Bam chicken instead, forces it on the table when I told her we ordered the other chicken. Then she accuses one of my family member of ordering that when she doesn't even know English or Korean.

The main dish (photo) was good, and the cold buckwheat noodles were decent. The chicken app was a bit sweet but still yummy. I'd go again to try other dishes.
