Taco Rio

Heard great things about this place last few years, but greatly disappointed when we went.
-Atmosphere is great. Nice layout. Tables are just a little to high when you sitting down.
-service was good, friendly and knowledge.
-Food- Was average.tasted very bland. They put sheets of wax paper on the bottom of each tray, but when you eat something like a burrito, the wax paper falls apart. So i had to pick up the wax paper from my food.
-Price are very high compared to other taco restaurants.

Atmosphere, food, drinks. All amazing. A bit pricey but I’d save up and come again for sure!

My boyfriend and I ordered enchiladas with pork, they were ice cold and the pork was dry with not much flavor. 25$ each, I expected the food to be better. There weren’t too many guests so I’m not sure how the food was cold.
However i added another star because we did like the margaritas and our server was friendly.

Incredibly good, nice healthy portions. Try the margaritas, strong and tasty. Tacos are full of flavour and the service was spot on, excellent tips and advice. Nice walk from the lakeshore.

Had a beef burrito and 3 tacos. The burrito was tasty but quite small for the price. Came with salsa verde and hot sauce that were both really good and sour cream

Pretty decent spot for Mexican. Good portion sizes! Note: the fries are massive and probably best shared between two people! Aoili with fries was 10/10.

I enjoyed my time here. The service could be more professional but our server tried his best! Keep it up man! Bless Ukraine!

Constantino is very cheerful and great service indeed! I’m all the way from Vancouver just went here at Harrison just to eat here at Taco Rio! Good food!

Our food came out super fast and was amazing! Had the enchilada platter with chicken, crispy chicken burrito and fish tacos and ALL equally delicious. Service was amazing super helpful waitress and fast with our drinks and gave us tons of variety on the margaritas! 11/10 if I could.

I nearly cried when we arrived to find them closed for renovations! Simply one of the best places to eat in town. We make a point to stop in everytime we're in the area. Good portions, great flavour and reasonable prices.

Loved their drinks with coconut tequila and fish tacos were amazing. Will be back next time I”m in Harrison.

Food is usually awesome. Rating a bit lower because they need better hours and more reliable open times. Attempted to go twice, once on Wednesday which they were closed, and again the next day on Thursday at noon and the cook failed to arrive so they didn't open.
My suggestion would be they need to open at 11am, not noon. You are missing out the Corrections crowd, and Corrections has lunch is 11-12. FYI

We ordered chicken quesadilla and burritos. The quesadilla was very blah and dried out and skimped on the cheese. The burritos were small and didn’t even contain any refried beans. We left with 3 small meals and paid $60 with no drinks and had to pickup dinner on the way home.

My wife and I finally got a chance to come there today to have lunch. I had chicken, pork and brisket tacos. 1 of each, I will say the pork and the beef Dane good. The chicken however was not very good at all. I think it would be way better if they shredded the chicken rather thana huge ball of chicken thrown in a shell. I was very disappointed because the other two tacos where so good.

I think they take way too much time for giving the order. I just ordered a shrimp burritos, we were too hungry, it was 1: 30 pm and we ordered the food at 12: 50 pm. So like 40 mins to make a burritos? The price is overpriced too! I understand it's a tourism place but no better service people deserve?

I asked the waitress, why it's taking too long. She replied back with " we have only 1 chef & 1 server ". But it's not something I have to be concern about, it's their business and I am here to get a service. Not to wait forever because of lack of employee!

Absolutely pathetic. Sat down, to enjoy a nice family dinner and after ordering some chips and salsa and a table of drinks the waitress arrived at the table to explain they are out of everything in the kitchen. After explaining that that is extremely disappointing because now that they have sat us, taken our orders other restaurants in town are now closed, the waitress apologized and explained they should have closed two hours previously. She then proceeded to charge me for everything despite the major inconvenience.

As a new resident of Harrison, I will not return to Taco Rio, which is unfortunate because the food is typically good.

HOLY COW! I found this place completely by accident and WOW was my belly happy I did! Fresh ingredients, flavours dancing in your mouth, your tastebuds demanding more! You can't lose eating here! What a great place!

Just had a fantastic lunch at Taco Rio with my wife. A big thank you for the wonderful hospitality from Cynthia (Owner) and the great food from the chef.

One of the best - and only - places to have good food at a fair price in Harrison Hot Springs. They went out of their way to make the burrito I asked for. Food was delicious, service great, and drinks well done! Will definitively come back

All they could say was "name" during pick up and the burrito wrap was burnt. The next time i went to pick up my order, they hadn't even started the order at all, and didn't have two of the items I ordered. When they gave me my food 40 minute later, they failed to include our drinks and it was still missing one of our items. Not organized and did nothing to compensate me for their endless mistakes.

This is a must stop if you are in Harrison! Amazing very authentic Mexican cuisine with tons of options - beautiful little restaurant that is perfectly decorated and the food is AMAZING!

They started breakfast services last week. Tried their poutine. The home-made fries were good! The portion was too much for me though Service-wise 5 stars!

We were going back to Vancouver and we stumbled upon this place. The server and the chef were super friendly, Triple Threat Quesadillas is a MUST HAVE. Actually, the best part of the trip to Harrison is THIS RESTAURANT!

Wow! That was the best Mexican food I've had for a very long time! We're staying in Harrison while we are evacuated from the Sumas Prairie flood and wanted something different for dinner and we weren't disappointed. I ordered the Triple Threat Quesadilla and my wife had a Fish Taco and a Beef Short Rib Taco and we added fries as well. It was almost too much food! The flavours were amazing and the portions were very generous. What a gem of a place! We'll definitely be back after this ordeal is over for a Friday date nite!

Cute little taco place. My food was pretty good but sadly my SO's wasnt. Maybe just a taste thing, it happens. More importantly though, the owner was super understanding and courteous. I wish them success, especially with the ongoing hits to tourism and the winter season.

We will definitely be back again. Such great hospitality and some of the tastiest Mexican ever. Great decor. We LOVED our veggie tacos: one made with mushroom and one with cauliflower. And a fish burrito and spicy chicken quesadilla. YUM!

Very good. Tacos are loaded! Don't be afraid of the prices. Expensive but worth it. Trust me. The spicy chicken and birria queso are gold.

Disappointed with the food. Unfortunately we ordered close to closing time and all of the food was inedible. Fries were dry and tasted like they had been sitting around for hours. We ordered both spicy chicken tacos and fish tacos and could not eat any of it. The chicken was tasteless and the remainder of the filling was bland. I would be embarrassed to have served that.
That being said the service was great.

Great food! My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the shrimp burrito and vegan cauliflower bowl. I do wish they didn’t require the vaccine passport.

Took our friends to dinner on Saturday. Great food and service. We all enjoyed our evening. Go early because it is a small restaurant and seating is limited but worth the wait. It's Taco Rio not Toco Ria like other taco restaurants. Very clean place.

Mixed feelings. We ordered margheritas no rim, beef brisket taco, cauliflower taco, and rio fries with garlic aoli. The fries were amazing. Seriously great. My cauliflower taco was delicious. Big flavor! My husbands however was bleh. The fatty beef cut was not drained before being put on soaking the tortilla in grease. Topped with guac and completely unseasoned it turned out just a mouthful of yech. Not even a hint of seasoning. The service was friendly and absent. Our drinks came with like a pork rub rim which is kinda ironic. Give it a shot, but you're rolling the dice.

Cute little taco shop with tasty fare. Ordered the fries with black garlic aioli; the fries tasty, but I was not a fan of the aioli. There was a bitterness to it that I just could not enjoy.

The tacos were tasty and the fillings are very generous. The shrimp was crispy and juicy in the centre with a very complimentary pineapple salsa. The cod was not my favourite, the fish was cooked very well and was moist, but it lacked a bit of flavour. Maybe even a bit more salt?

My favourite dish was the Honey Roasted Squash taco. The bit of sweetness and saltiness was perfect. I also really enjoyed their churro bites with the dulce de leche sauce. Yum!

The staff have been very friendly whenever I've gone in and it seems quite clean inside. Overall, I'd definitely come back and try out their other dishes.

Recently ordered their Rio wings to go and when I opened the container it had a thick layer of oil at the bottom. The wings were also oversalted, I had to chug water with it as all you could taste was salt and grease. Maybe it's different in house, but I really wouldn't recommend the wings.

Some of the best Mexican food we’ve ever had. Truly authentic flavors. I had the carne asada tacos and my wife had the quesadilla. She said the quesadilla was the best she’s ever had. The tacos brisket was amazing and cooked perfectly.

If you’re visiting Harrison take the 1 mile walk and eat here. You won’t regret it. Much better than the tourist traps on the waterfront.

Very good place if unlike Mexican food not authentic Mexican but food was great. Have vegan options too. Great customer service

We got tacos (cauliflower, fish and carne asada), fish burrito and beef bowl and everything was very tasty. They use edamame instead of black beans and it tastes great. Very friendly staff, good prices, nice ambiance and quiet music in the restaurant - indoor and outdoor seating and takeout.

Highly recommend! Went for a date night this week and we were so happy we did. Food was fresh and delicious, patio and service was warm and inviting and the bonus of the evening was live music by a very talented local musician. Can't wait to go back.

Great flavors and so fresh. The edamame seemed different but worked so well. The braised beef rice bowl was awesome! I would have taken a pic of it but I couldn't put my fork down until I was done.

I was told the food was really good there. I had no idea just how good. I had the beef brisket rice bowl. Everything about that dish smacked of awesomeness. It was so tasty. The brisket was melt in your mouth tender. The sauce and rice and guacamole and beans combined to create a little slice of heaven. Our hostess was super friendly and helpful. She answered all our dumb questions. My new favorite spot when in Harrison Hot Springs.

Food tasted good and they seemed to be very friendly over the phone when I came to grab my meal to go. I got the triple threat quesadilla and Rio fries. The fries were inedible, cold and tasteless, even with the dip. The Quesadilla tasted good but soggy in a bath of grease at the bottom of the box which made it hard to eat and messy.

Famazing! YUM! If you go, be sure to have one or two of the lime margaritas and if you like spice the Jalapeño Lime Margaritas (I just drooled typing it!). There was a big group of us and everyone was very satisfied with their meal. The fries with black garlic aioli was the bomb! I am a fries connoisseur (self proclaimed) and they were amazing. The brisket, taco's, cauliflower taco and burritos were superb! We will be back, like allot!

Excellent service. Beautiful decor. Great patio. Spicy Margs on point. Most importantly the food was incredible! Best meal we have had in Harrison. We will be back.

Ordered take out and clearly marked we needed a vegan option as one of us has an egg allergy. Picked up our food, we were missing items and had to return, server forgot to include them. Parked to eat and the vegan tacos looked like they had a mayo based sauce on top. When we called to clarify the server who answered was incredibly rude, did not check with the kitchen and then just hung up on us. We called again and got a different server but was still unsure if they were 100% egg free even after this interaction. Not worth risking a trip to the er so only one us got to enjoy their meal. The food looked amazing, and my partner enjoyed their cauliflower burrito. But incredibly disappointed in the service we received. Hopefully this is just a one off situation because we really had high hopes for a decent taco place in Harrison.

A small gem on the way to Harrison. The food was fabulous and the service friendly - had a great dinner on the patio. Bonus point, they allow dogs in their outdoor area!

Ordered for delivery, placed order at 7: 15;3 pc beef, 3 PC Shrimp, mexi rice, Pico, etc.get a call at 7: 42 that food is ready. Ok? I placed for delivery. Oh, right sorry, we will bring it. Get a call at 7: 45, oh, you have to pay for your order before we can deliver. Cards wouldn't work on their machine over the phone so we now have to pick up our delivery. Bring delivery back and it's missing 2 drinks. Finally get to eat at 8: 20 and my shrimp tacos are fish tacos? Beef tacos are missing the cheese? Food is cold, worst experience ever. Only offering was the jarrito's for free. Will never order here again.

Stopped there on Saturday. I had the beef burrito and a side of fries, my gf had 3 different veggie tacos. We drank margaritas. Burrito AMAZING (probably the best burrito I ever had), tacos AMAZING, fries AMAZING, margaritas AMAZING. Was going to give the place 5 stars easily. Then we stopped there again on Sunday for takeout. I got the pork burrito and gf got veggie tacos again. Burrito bland, without taste and soggy. I have no idea what happened but it was a full 180 from what we experienced the day before. We asked for sauce on tacos but they had none and were dry. If I based my experience only on Sunday I would probably give it even a lower rating. Again, Saturday was incredible, Sunday nothing to talk about. One more thing guys. On Saturday we ordered a couple of hot sauces but they were taking so long to come out that the food was getting cold so we had to go in and grab them ourselves. Extra sauces did eventually arrive, but at that point we were done with the food and it made no sense anymore. We were still charged for the extra sauces that came too late. Too bad for the extremely bad takeout on Sunday, otherwise I would have given this place 5 stars easily.

Cool space and friendly staff made me want to like this place. Burrito's were a good size but tasted bland and flavorless. No salsa, pico de gallo or vegetables, mostly just rice. There is nothing Mexican about this place, it doesn't even qualify as Tex-Mex.

Went there originally to get tacos but asked the staff what their suggestions were. Needless to say didn't get tacos but got their triple threat quesadilla. Will definitely need to go back now to try their tacos. Service is great and friendly. Will definitely be going again to try rest of the menu.

Great taco place! Lots of options for gf and vegetarian folks. Good serving sizes and VERY YUMMY!

Service is good, food is quite poor. Under cooked churro‘s, over salted fries, sub par atmosphere. Seems like they haven’t quite figured out their recipes yet. Chorizo was horrible.

Why did we order while standing in the entrance, rather than sitting down and taking our time? It’s not like we were even told to pay right away, seems kind of backwards.

The food is amazing at this place but whats even more is the girl that takes the order over the phone. She has that genuine enthusiasm i haven't seen at other places.

Highly recommend the spicy chorizo tacos. So savory and delish. Worth the drive, you wait for a fresh order and it's made with care and perfection. Definitely one of the best tacos I've had, so far. Cheers to you guys, this spot is your next foodie adventure

I have been waiting to try Taco Rio since I saw the sign go up and I certainly wasn't disappointed. I was so impressed with all the vegetarian options, I had the cauliflower taco bowl, it was delicious and the the fries and black garlic aioli were also great! We will definitely be back!

Overall, will not be returning. Breakdown of tonight's dinner below.

Pros: The Birria Quesa Taco was good-would order that again. Chicken Salad Bowl was mediocre.

Cons: Baja Fish Tacos were no bueno. The tortilla was awful and tasted chalky. The fish tasted stale, as if cooked in old oil. The Rio fries were also no good. Churros were raw in the middle-had only 2 pieces and both were not fully cooked.

We dined in tonight (their first night with dine-in) with our two kids and had a delicious dinner. They have about 4 booths and 2 tables, but there is only one server who is also the greeter, busses the tables, and answers the phones, so be patient. She's good at her job and very friendly. We ordered tacos; beef short rib, crispy chicken, cauliflower, and kabocha. They were all fantastic, though perhaps a little too big. Interesting flavours, and great quality ingredients. We liked the chicken & the cauliflower ones the best. We also ordered the triple threat quesadilla (good, but would probably not order again), the birria quesa taco (an absolutely must have! Hands down, best of the night!), and Chips with guac & pico (chips were awesome, pico was not great, guac was fresh and plentiful, but needed more salt, lime and chillies.).
We were disappointed that they'd run out of churros early on, but gives us something to look forward to next time! I do wish there was something on the menu more approachable for picky kids, but whatever, the kids will learn to eat eventually. I also wish I could have had a beer with my tacos.
In conclusion, show this new little restaurant some love, because they deserve it! We'll definitely be back, and I think they'll only get better with time.

Delicious food drove in from Hope totally work the drive staff were super friendly and food was just bought out to car they have outside seating coming in next week don’t pass this stop on your drive for sure

One of my favourite new places! The staff are very kind and the food is absolutely amazing! I got the chicken taquitos and birria quesa tacos, my boyfriend got the chorizo burrito and triple threat quesadilla, all were very flavorful and no dry meat! We thought it was so good we had to go back the next day for lunch before we drove back to vancouver im glad we did because we got the churros with dulce de leche sauce and they are life changing.and as a student who needs to save money you can trust me when i say the that the portion size and quality matches the price.if youre ever in the area id highly recommend stopping here, i will be every chance i get!
