Just bought a new bike. Honestly I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Professional, knowledgeable, friendly staff who genuinely want to help people have a good time on the trails.
Tantalus is THE BEST bike shop! Fantastic service and excellent workmanship! Always go above and beyond to try and help! Al and the crew are genuinely nice people who love mountain biking and aren’t bike shop snobs!
My favourite bike shop ever. Genuine and knowledgeable staff. Broke my rear hub in the morning, dropped off my bike, went for lunch, and they had me riding again within an hour. Amazing customer service to be able to squeeze me in so last minute. These guys will always be my first choice in the Vancouver/Whistler corridor
In each town I live in, I chose my local bike shop based on customer service. When my bike needs work, I would like know what needed to be done. Or better yet, get advice on which tools I need to do it myself. Tantalus has been by far the best bike shop in Squamish this reason, and I have consistently been recommending to friends, co workers and family.
Introducing the ability to book in your bike for service would be amazing - I would rather not miss a week riding due to a large backlog and my wheel simply needing to be trued.
The guys at the shop were able to instal my partners newly bought fork on the spot! They also sold me the one up comp pedal pins for 5 fun tokens when they could have charger my triple. Thanks Tantalus
Amazing staff. Very knowledgeable and pleasant. Fantastic mountain bike selection, from the top of the line to moderate skill levels. Including electric! Great looking Bike shop in the great town of Squamish.
I’ve been in the shop a dozen times in the last Cpl years, after the first Cpl times I’ve only gone when I had to, for certain brand or products Always terrible service and attitudes, not sure where the good reviews come from probably friend’s etc.go see for yourself! Then go to Corsa cycles
My seat post cable broke today and ended my Squamish ride early than planned. In a panic, I stopped in at Tantalus bike shop at closing time and these rad people fixed my cable on the spot. They could have easily turned me away but they didn’t - they cared. Great service. I highly recommend and I will be back!
Once again the fantastic staff at Tantalus Bike shop went over and beyond. Thanks for fixing my wheel ASAP to get me rolling again. It’s no coincidence that I have bought all my bikes here for almost 20 years.
Awesome staff! Got me in last minute for a quick tuneup so I could carry on with my biking holidays without missing a step. Mechanic did a thorough job- would definitely recommend
Really great shop. I came to them with a broken chain ring and they quoted me a new ring and service fee, but after I left they realized they would be able to repair my old ring to save me some money. High integrity move that they didn’t need to do and I will always call them first for future work.
With most bike shops out of stock right now, one thing Tantalus Bike Shop will never run out of is great service. From the first time I walked through their door 20+ years ago, I felt like I had already been a customer for 20 years. Some of the faces have changed and so did the location. But what has remained constant is their attention to detail and the amazing service that Al and Lorainne and the rest of the staff pour onto their clientele. This is small town hometown grassroots mountain biking at its pinnacle.
Awesome bike shop with great staff. I bought some brake pads there and I was having a hard time installing them. The guy at the counter helped me with the installation for free! I highly recommend going there.
Best bike shop on the planet! 1st class service and staff. I wouldn’t go anywhere else in the Sea To Sky! Never been disappointed since they opened their doors many years ago! Thank you for everything always!
Super friendly and helpful. I went in with a busted chain worried they would be too busy to get me back out on my ride. They had no problems getting me fixed up super fast. Would definitely shop there again.
Unfortunately I had a negative experience recently and while I am certain it does not represent the quality of service at Tantalus, it left me quite disappointed. I brought my bike in after calling because I need a replacement part of a brand that only Tantalus carries in town. In addition, I kept getting a flat tire (slow leak) and wanted it looked it. The mechanic who helped me took a quick look at the dropper post and said he did not think it needed a new piston at all. Mind you, the dropper had already been examined at a different shop and it was not working properly - I had used the bike several times since. I was told they likely would not be able to get the replacement part and that he had added some grease and it should be fine (it isn't).
The tire wasn't looked at properly. The staff member said very likely it was a lack of sealant that needed to be topped up and sold me a tool to open the valve and some sealant. This is my first bike and I don't know much about maintenance yet. I said that but he only showed me how to do it very quickly. I said I would not mind having them take a look at it properly and pay for their time, but he kind of shrugged it off.
Well - the sealant was not the issue and the tire kept going flat after several rides. I took it to a different bike shop in town yesterday and received it back today. The tire had needed new tubeless tape, which has fixed the issue.
I understand that the service departments of bike shops are incredibly busy and I never expect to receive service right there and then. But I went to Tantalus to understand what was wrong with the tire, I was happy to leave the bike there if required, and pay to fix the issue. That did not happen and I ended up having to go to a different bike shop, where the issue was taken care of within a few hours.
Tantalus Bike Shop saved me on our MTB family vacation! We were on day 2 of 9 and my brake levers needed a complete replacement. I could find the parts in town but the shops were booking 10 days out for the service. Tantalus had the parts and after the fellow looked at my bike, he said they could squeeze it in for next day - SO fabulous! And what made it even better was that he got my bike done in only a few hours! I wish I could remember the fellow’s name - he knows who he is:) - he was fantastic! I’m so grateful he got me in. I would give Tantalus 10 stars if I could! We love Squamish and Whistler riding so will definitely be back and Tantalus will be our go to! Many thanks from me and my purple Giant:)
Had a break down in the trails today. Turns out my freehub body the bed. Thanks to Aaron at Tantalus for saving the rest of my riding season. With everyone riding now it’s a challenge and half to get parts if something goes wrong. Having a damaged freehub body could of delayed my riding for who knows how long. But thanks to the Tantalus crew and the biking gods they were able to find me a spare replacement and save the rest of my season. I would highly recommend this shop for service and if your bike is up and running all ready, swing by and try their own made hot sauce. Soooooooo good! Thanks again fellas
Brought my tire in to get fixed and it was done later that day and cheaply. I took it to another shop in town before Tantalus, who said they could get to it later that week and for double the price.
Unreal.bought a bike here in Novemeber. Road it all winter. So much fun. Brought her in for the free tuneup that they offered. Not just a tune up.these guys literally polished my whole bike. She was like a new bike! Thanks Tantalus!
Great service, friendly and knowledgeable staff and owner. Feels like a perfect mix of small town vibe mixed with big selection and stock. Came in looking for obscure products for my bike rebuild, and left with that alongside great suggestions and advice.
This shop was great until I had they do a service on my fox float x2 where they completely destroyed the shock and blamed it on me I had a write up from a professional shock place from the city that explains that Tantlus’s mechanic butchered the inside of the shock I myself have never taken one of these apart and I think I could have done a better job
Amazing service! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable and they are very fair with their prices for both merch and labour or parts. I have been a loyal customer even before I lived in Squamish and will keep going there anytime I need new gear or need help with my bike! Highly recommend!
Awesome bike shop. The staff is so helpful, friendly and down to earth and the shop itself has a cool, local vibe. I always leave there with what I need and even a little extra.
My boyfriend and I are new to mountain biking and everything about this shop is so welcoming. My boyfriend got a really great deal on a bike, pedals, and waterbottle mount and bottle. I had a tune up done on my bike for a really fair price. Very knowledgable and friendly staff. All around great vibes from Tantalus Bike Shop:)
Bought my first mountain bike here. Got a great deal on a great product from a super knowledgeable and very friendly dude. Always looking for an excuse to go visit the shop. 100% recommended! I live in Vancouver but the drive is more than worth it for the service!
Tantalus Bike Shop continues to impress every time we go there. The staff are super knowledgeable about everything bike related. They fixed up my bike and adapted it for a unique need, when others said it couldn't be done. Repairs are always super quick and the vibe always friendly. 20 years shopping at Tantalus and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Thanks, Al!
Made the long trip to Squamish from Revelstoke only to discover my dropper post was no longer functioning properly. Took it in here and they fixed it within 5 minutes even though they were very busy! 10/10 recommend bringing your bike here, customer service is unmatched:)
Went there to get a new mountain bike. I was amazed at how nice the people working there were. Scott was really knowledgeable and easy to talk to. They got me an amazing deal on a bike even though it's a really busy season. This will be my no. 1 shop I will be going back to! If you need anything bike related, go there! I've never been so happy to spend that much money haha!
Great service and competitive pricing. I walked in and got the service I needed on my bike by Eric quickly and efficiently at a fee that seemed to be a great deal. Great place, friendly staff that facilitated a great day of riding in Squamish. Thanks!
Great support and perfect maintenance of a 36 lower leg service as well as shifting and brake adjustment. Would definitely go there again. Thanks guys!
Got to squamish at 3: 30pm, west jet misshandled my bike and broke my dropper post lever, by the time i got the bike built up it was 5: 30, got to the shop at 5: 50 and they fixed me up as the store was closing and didn’t even charge me for install (granted i did buy a few other odd things and it was a quick install) but still. 10/10 service, super friendly. Highly recommend.
I was in Squamish for the weekend and broke my derailleur on the afternoon of the first day. When I brought the bike into the shop they realized I was from out of town and managed to replace my derailleur that same afternoon before they closed for the evening. I was able to get in an evening bike ride and not miss any of the second day. And the bike worked great after the work they did. Their effort saved the weekend of biking.
Also be sure to buy the hot sauce. It is delicious.
This bike shop is well stocked primarily with mountain bikes, but don't overlook the vast amount of accessories that they carry as well. The staff here is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful to provide you service on your bicycle needs.
Pulled an old bike out of storage. Took it in to give the tires and chain a bit of loving. Friendly staff helped me out right away and sent me off with a smile. Cheers boys!
They fixed my bike ON THE SPOT TWICE in the past few months.once for a hangar adjustment and once for a tire check and sealant refill. BOTH of which they charged me under $10! I couldn't believe it. Being a female rider and having trouble finding places that aren't 2 week waits or overcharge or do not do the job at that moment (amazing) has been hard. Thanks tantalus I will always come back
I've had fair service here, but the biggest criticism is always that they're too "snobby" and deal only with new, expensive mountain bikes. I've gone to get my mountain bike from the 90's serviced here 3 times: First time, totally fine, wasn't much to do, and I had no clue what I was doing so the service was helpful. Second time, I took it in for a full tune-up and the guy there didn't charge me because my bike "wasn't worth spending money on", and maybe because I'm a young woman (regardless, I didn't complain!). Third time, I got new tires (though I had to order them, they didn't have any in stock because my bike is old and the tire size isn't common, I was told) and they were put on. But the shop didn't have a tool needed to tighten the axel on my pedals and before I prodded for more info, said it was only because it was such an old bike so someone probably just got rid of the tool. Seems careless to me. So, I recommend don't go here for more than parts or simple tune-ups if your bike is more than 10 years old.
