Not taking cards is why chinese run restaurants are on the decline. It's time chinese/vietnamese for restaurants to embrace technology for their businesses.want more business from young customers, then it's time to start accepting cards as payment methods. Even Japanese owned restaurants accept card as payment method. I also criticize the CCP.

At the heart of the bustling city lies a hidden gem: a quaint Vietnamese restaurant offering irresistible chicken rice with a perfectly cooked egg. The succulent chicken, bursting with flavor, melds harmoniously with the fragrant, well-seasoned rice. The pièce de résistance - a delicate, silky egg - elevates this humble dish to gastronomic delight. Service is top-notch, with a warm and attentive staff that leaves you feeling like family. Despite its culinary prowess, the restaurant boasts unbeatable affordability. This unassuming eatery delivers an unmatched combination of mouthwatering flavors, exceptional service, and wallet-friendly prices. A must-visit for any food enthusiast!

At first when I just saw the building it looked old so my expectation is low but their food was surprisingly delightful. I tried their lemon grass chicken with broken rice and fried egg. It was one of the best Vietnamese platter i ever had. I wish they would give more veggies though but their portion is large. Their Vietnamese coffee was overpriced but super flavorful as well.

I went in with my friends a couple of times within the past few months and everything was fine. The previous owner and employees were super nice and friendly.

This time, I went in and the employees are all new to me and the owner as well. They are nice, until you ask them questions. My friend and I both got one bowl of phò each, 1 spring rolls, and 1 iced coffee. For some reasons, our bean sprouts was boiled, which we never asked for - mind you, I’m sure majority or at least all phò restaurants don’t boil them at all.

We received all our food, but the not the iced coffee. We started eating our food and it was so far so good. My friend asked how long the iced coffee was going to be delivered to our table because we were like halfway done our meal. One of the employees said it’s coming out soon. It did, but the water was murky and just not clean. We asked her why it’s like that and all she said was “it’s like that” and walked away. We both looked closer to the coffee grounds on top and it was old! We literally got second rounds of coffee ground from an unknown place. That is seriously gross and can be contaminated by other things! That is really unacceptable!

Now me and my friend are both having stomach pains from eating at this place. My friend called them 10mins after we left and asked them the same questions about the iced coffee, just to be avoided as if it’s not an important question coming from a customer? We saw the owner before we left too. He asked for the owner and they lied to him saying she left already. Very nice to avoid customer concerns and about their food quality. They need to have Health Canada to like do a food quality control or something. It’s really dirty and messy inside the kitchen. Not a happy customer after they changed owners recently

Nasty dirty place unsanitary, rude staff overpriced washroom not cleaned food is undercooked I don’t recommend this place to anyone
25 October 2022 20:21
Horrible customer service extremely rude staff Waited so song before the servers came to server us and were talking about us using Vietnamese but little did they know those servers know I’m a Canadian born Viet and I understand fluent Viet your really doing to say just talk about us because we speak English instead of Viet I’m extremely angry I recommend this restaurant to anyone extremely rude staff

I gave them a 5 star rating two years ago. Recently, the food quality and quantity have dipped.
Not only were the staff rude to my wife, but this is what we took home for $30 lol

Just an average Vietnamese restaurant I would say. Staff was pretty good, food was average except the spring rolls which were some of the best I've had. Bun Bo Hue isn't authentic and has not hot spicyness to it.
13 May 2022 20:12
Rude server and asked seniors for more tips. Disrespectful to our older generation. Food is not great. Will not visit again. Blacklist this restaurant for good.
10 May 2022 14:05
Unbelievably rude staff. The very worst I've ever experienced. I don't know what's wrong with them. Better go on other place.

Really good experience. I was walking down the street and saw this restaurant. I didn’t know what to expect, but I was hungry. The meal was absolutely huge and a very good value of $13. I would definitely recommend and be back.

They get mad at us when we were just asking them politely how much our order and they were over charging us and their tax is double when we double check. The short hair lady is forcing us to give tip but their service is very bad. Bad customer service.
21 March 2022 5:57
Dont go to this restaurant. The food is not good. Also they charge you twice with the price that you have to pay for it. Worst service ever they wanted right away to give tip and they got mad. They cant wait for us to give them. Check your bills double check with the menu.also get a receipt.

Ate with my home boy and just talked the day away after school. A chill place with good portions and the staff don't give any mind to you. Just remember that it's cash only!
19 February 2022 2:56
I don’t might they raised up the price but I’m disappointed that I got my Grilled pork Vermicelli like this.

And the lemon grass chicken vermicelli looks fantastic.
08 December 2021 10:47
Now I love Vietnamese food but the fact that this is not even lemon grass and they gave me noodles poorly wrapped in plastic I don’t know if I’m supposed to have this in the meal but this is honestly not professional

My server was great and very helpful, asking politely for extra water, hoisin, Sriracha, etc. The food was also very good! Hats off to the cooks. HOWEVER, and I never say negative things about restaurant service to give the benefit of the doubt, but man did I get some bad attitude from a front of house staff member. It is cash only, so I had left a tip at my table for my server specifically (as I could tell the other ladies might not give it to her) and for good reason! When I went to get change for my cash the lady had the audacity to say "no tip? " while rolling her eyes at me. Which is a shame, the food is great and my personal server was good, but the rest of the experience puts a bad taste in my mouth.

Unbelievably rude wait staff. Worst I've ever experienced. I don't know what's wrong with them. Much better places to go.
16 December 2020 4:25
The food is actually good and tasty. We had the rice combo. Spring rolls not bad either. Reason for 2 star only is because of the utterly terrible customer service. The lady taking the order was impatient and not seeming to care. The other lady standing around just starred at us. We were ordering for take out and even though no one was around the lady very rudely demanded us to wait outside. If tasty food is all you care about, worth trying. Expect smiling customer service? Don’t bother.

Third party recommendations. By a philipino couple. Hosted guest of my long time philipina friend. Cost was reasonable. Dish served was two spring rolls on vermicelli. And a larger quantity of thin white noodles with small diced/ ribbon vegetables. Not very familiar with Broad range of Vietnamese cooking however I was not aware this dish was served cold with exception of the spring rolls which were warm to the touch. (very good).
The noodle base with vegetables were bland and tasteless without the addition of oyster sauce and Karachi even mildly preflavoured with the separately supplied sauce. Also cold. Edible, fresh, however my lack of cuisine knowledge added to the adventure. There was supposed to be pork in the mix.
I think I found one shard the size of a penny.
And was surprised to see a sign upon entry. Cash only. Obviously there is little contribution to the country we support with our labors. Another underground parasitic community. I have friends in Ho chi min. Vietnam.
When we can travel again. I'll wait to expand my knowledge of thier cuisine. The staff were very interpersonal. I find that often sharing meals with my philipina friend. Seems even Asians have differences between thier cultures too.
Just an observation. I won't be soliciting in the future. However, I have frequented a couple of my favorite restaurants that are run by Vietnamese, and they are wonderful. I've run into this observation before. Leads me to assume. They don't like philipinas. Especially accompanied by a white man.

This may well be my absolute favorite Phó restaurant in all of Vancouver.
The broth is Savoury, noodles are always perfectly cooked and cut, meat portions are generous, veggies fresh, basil plentiful, and they have a dry chilli sauce with the perfect amount of heat.
Have been coming here for years. Has always been typical Pho service; tea is included, don't expect a smile, food will be out quickly, napkins are brought to your table, cash only.
16 February 2020 11:19
Fast and good Vietnamese noodles and food. Thai Son has a couple locations across Vancouver and they are fairly consistent in taste and service. Eg No frills service, fast hot food and decent taste.

It's not fine dining and they wear on their sleeve what they are from the moment you enter to the moment you leave. Try the Vietnamese style coffee, they still do the old dripfeed style pots and on condensed milk it's the bomb.

Horrible food, went for a late lunch. I ordered the dry pork and shrimp noodles. Picture shows multiple shrimp and pork meat. What I got was a bowl of slop.
One large shrimp ball that was all batter and oil. I opened it up to see the shrimp and it was about a quarter of an inch long. My friend had seafood soup and only had a quarter of it and could not eat any more.

This is a great place to get your Pho cravings. Seatings are tight but there are table seatings for 2 to 6 - adjusted as needed. Well lit fluorescent lighting, not for those looking for cost atmosphere. There is a parking lot but limited space since the small mall is shared. Street parking is available. Service is fast. Good portion sizes. Around $8-13/plate or bowl. Food comes out piping hot. Good soup base and condiments are on your table. Good quality meats and portion size and not too fatty or tough with fresh bean sprouts either cooked or raw to your liking. Crispy spring rolls of good size. Rice / vermicelli dishes as well as noodle soup and Viet coffee available. Takeout also available and orders come out fairly quickly (around 5-10min) on average. Have been back a few times and food is consistently good. Cash and debit available.

We try the Vietnamese pork & chicken. Price is very reasonable and portion is huge. As for the taste, it is not charcoal grill and not as authentic. Will not go there again
30 August 2019 15:36
I ordered a Pho with extra noodles with to go extra charge and guess what they only giving me 3 pieces of meat in a plastic bow.don't come here it's no t worth it.
05 August 2019 21:12
Just your average Thai Soon Vietnamese place. Can say good is typical but dining room is not smelly like some small Vietnamese places that don't have ventilation.

Service was ok. Parking is free street parking as well as a free small lot.

A go-to pho place of mine; I usually get pho or a rice dish. Sometimes, their soup doesn't seem super hot (enough to cook the rare beef slices). Sizes and prices are also alright. I recently got their grilled lemongrass chicken rice dish and it was really good; it had a nice grill taste but was still juicy inside!
04 July 2019 23:30
Good food, price and service. Have been there before so I know what I like and have always been given fair portions. You won't run out of noodles before dishes and vice versa. Ladies always give us plenty of fish sauce for the meal. Will always recommend!

Order two milk teas
-1.menu milk tea price was $4.5 each.was charged for a total of $13.4 and they said theres a change in price. Didn't care about the price as I was in a rush.
-2.very unorganized: waited 30min in total for my drink.they didnt even make my drink until i was already sitting there for 15mins.
-3. The drink came in a 12oz foam cup.like WDF! I took the drink and left the store and realize the weight of the didnt feel liek for its cup size.
Opened the lid and found that both was only 70% full.
Avoid this place

There was a hair in my tea and in my food lol, the chicken was good, rice not so much. The service is really quick and efficient, the rest is just ok.

I like the PHO and how it's made. Wow, not bad for vietnamese cuisine. I was a bit concerned about the soup base, and don't really like the tea taste, btw service was not bad
27 February 2019 5:18
This Pho restaurant is one of the best in town.:) Extremely pho-tastic (FANTASTIC). Thanks Thai Son.
30 January 2019 16:37
When I have a craving for pho, this is usually where I end up. Tasty bowls of pho, competitive prices, and fairly quick service. But don't expect a warm and cozy kind of ambiance. It is decently clean, but the stark bright fluorescent lighting and light coloured tile floors could pose as an operating room, were it not for the tables and chairs filling the space. The good thing is that you will definitely see your food which is delish. I did note on my last visit that there were less noodles in my bowl than on previous visits. I hope that was a one-off rather than a trend. The women's washroom is small but decent and includes a monstrosity of a mirror that might have been a regift from someone who no longer wanted it in their home. Whatever, it does the job. The strip mall parking lot is small and often full, but street parking is free. And for public transportation, the restaurant is conveniently located near an intersection, close to bus stops on both Victoria Drive and 49th Avenue.

Service was quick. I ordered dried egg noodle with shaved pork, heart and liver, I find the shaved pork too dry otherwise it's pretty good.
The restaurant was quite busy!
