If i could give 0 star i would. The photos that were all taken on my graduation were awful and on top that this guys refuse to give me my refund deposit as they promised if i dont like the photos. I tried emailing multiple time and no one seems to be checking their mail.they stole my $60 and i will keep bugging them till i get my money.

To save your self time find someone else or better still use your phone camera. This guys are a joke.

My son’s photos were delivered to him at school without any cardboard backing to protect them in the envelope. Needless to say, despite his best efforts they arrived home bent and folded. This is the first time we have ever received school photos packaged so flimsily and our first experience with this company. I called the company to explain what had happened and my concern, was told they usually send photos with a cardboard backing and they were sorry but there was nothing the customer service rep could do or offer me. He said he would escalate my concern but I have not heard anything back and it has been some time. I won’t be ordering again next year if it is the same company.

Our family photoshoot experience at Artonas was great! Our photographer Lucas made us feel comfortable and was very encouraging of our ideas. The pictures he took brought our vision to life! We are so glad that he was our photographer today and we look forward to coming back and have him take more pictures for us one day.

What a horrible business to deal with. They have completely cornered the market on stupidity. I would stop buying their photos but somehow they've convinced schools their worth paying their bloated prices.

RE: the online chat help, don't bother. They know nothing and can do nothing. If you have real questions about your order, they tell you to call. When you are phoning, they are directing you to live chat to avoid the wait.

They have the worst policies, the highest prices and garbage service.

Absolutely a scam. One digital picture is 110$ and takes 72 business hours to arrive. It was absolutely a harrowing experience with their prejudiced attitude. Zero passion for their profession, in fact, they’re not even professionals. My grandma takes better pictures and she couldn’t even find the home button. If you’re seeing this, don’t hesitate to give them a one star rating.

Beautiful studio with professional and helpful front desk attendants. Paul photographed our twins for their High School Graduation. He did a fantastic job! I left very impressed. He took the time to make sure ties were straight, hair was good and gave great posing instructions. He had great ideas for prop photos and was a true professional. I cannot wait to receive the proofs! If I ever need more graduation photos I will definitely return.

5 stars for the photographers. The lady at the front counter was rude and condescending when we arrived. She attempted to turn us away until we showed her the email with the appointment. No apology for being rude. Thanks for making us feel completely un-welcomed. I would give one star if it was just for her. People are there for memories with their kids. Why be like that?

Ridiculously over priced photography service. Over $100 for two photo prints + have to pay an additional $20 for shipping. The same prints would cost $1 each at London drugs. The company knows this so they make a digital version more expensive than the printed version. For these crazy prices you get a photo shoot that is as professional as what you get at Walmart. On top of all of this I now need to wait 3-6 weeks just for them to print the photos. Again it takes about 30 minutes for me to get photos printed at London drugs. Basically forced into using them because the school picked them for the official photos. I guess they charge their crazy prices because they know we can’t go anywhere else and feel like gouging students.

Took them over a month to fix the glitch in their system to purchase photos online.
When order was placed, waited an additional 6 weeks only for them to tell me there was another glitch in their system and my order was not processed.
Prices are outrageous for photos and on top of that they charge an archival fee for "old" photos.

I had my pictures taken yesterday at the artona studio for my university grad and everything was perfect. The customer service was great and my photographer was super nice and made sure everything went well. Front staff was amazing. Thank you to the entire artona team

Very negative experience ordering from Artona.

The shoot was quick, easy, and timely. No complaints there.

The exorbitant and inconsistent prices charged, extremely unintuitive website and ordering system, and general complexity of the entire operation annoys and even angers its customers. When selecting from your photos, depending on which package or add-ons you choose, you obtain wildly different prices for the same photos and formats.

Many essential features, like removing packages and photos from your cart or even being able to see how much individual photos will cost you at the start of the ordering process just aren't there. It is blatant that the confusing UI and inconsistent pricing only exist to coerce customers to spend even more on already overpriced photos. You will end up spending $80-$100 on single photos, unless you purchase packages that send you dozens of copies of the same photos.

Great outstanding service. My daughter had her photo taken by the studio and it came with a minor defect and I contacted them and they did it right for me, fix the minor defect and sent me a reprint via mail! Kudos to such great company

Experience was extremely poor. The process was slow and unyielding. For customer service, I had to wait over a month without a response (email), and when I called, I was stuck on the line for upwards of 45 minutes.

Especially given prices, they offer little to no reason to choose them. Even when multiple individuals of the family were graduating, they required that they be ordered separately, with unjustified additional costs due to it. Their slow customer service also resulted in losing a deposit which would not be reinstated.

Outrageously priced; Artona takes advantage of students for graduation pictures. They require a $60 deposit, to be used by a certain date. They then release additional pictures the following day, attempting to force a second purchase. I’m astounded schools continue to choose this mediocre company for photo services.

The photographer didn’t allow me to view my pictures on the camera citing “Covid” even though I had a mask on, double vaxxed, willing to keep a distance and wouldn’t touch the device. He have no problem getting all personal and handsy fixing my gown and cap though. He knows the pictures turned out bad. The picture turned out atrocious because my makeup started to melt under my mask waiting for my appointment (when the mask mandatory was ongoing). I asked to go fix my makeup in the bathroom and he said no because he have an appointment after me back to back and don’t want me wasting his time. Because I didn’t buy pictures I have to chased them down for 3 month trying to get my deposit back. So so much back and fourth through email. They “can’t” return on their card machine so they gave me a cheque that BOUNCED. When I went there for another cheque the attitude I got from the front desk is appalling. They purposely make the return process painful. Not to mention a person working there leaked my personal information… they were likely friends with my bully. Artona are ran by teenagers and this company have no policy regarding private information. I ended up getting a backdrop and ring light on Amazon and did my own grad pictures and it turned out better than this place. And oh and did I mention that a single DIGITAL tiny picture cost $100?

A code was needed which was not provided. Contacted ‘24 hr live chat’, said it would be applied automatically, was not.
Sent an email, given the same answer, didn’t work. Finally called and spoke to an agent directly, they said they would ‘reset’ it? $60 finally taken off.
That was a lot of effort…wonder how many parents have been shortchanged?

The photographers seemed like they were in a rush and were constantly sighing at me the entire time I was taking photos. This resulted in me feeling uncomfortable and my photos not turning out very well. In addition, while I was waiting for the next room there seemed to be a worker taking a nap on one of the couches that are used in photos.

Best Customer Service! My son had scheduled his 2022 Grad Photos with Artona and they were nothing but professional and courteous. Everything from booking his date and time to the actual day of his shoot ran smoothly.
When it came time to order the Grad packages, we had a bit of a hiccup with ordering online, but a quick email to Amanda outlining the issues, she was able to answer me promptly and she helped me with completing my order. Granted the pricing was a little on the high side, Amanda helped me purchase my photos within my budget.
My children’s high school has been dealing with Artona for a few years now and I have had nothing but wonderful service with them. With a little patience and open communication, you may be surprised with what Artona can do for you.
Thank you to Amanda for allowing me to have wonderful memories of my son’s Graduation.

My experience with artona was awful. I never want to go back again. Firstly, I never got my grad session portfolio which I paid $60 for deposit. A week and a half after I had taken my grad photos, I called to ask where my portfolio is and they assured me that it was on its way. Another 3 weeks went by and I just wanted a refund at this point. They told me my cheque would arrive in the mail by the end of the week and still haven’t received it. I’m very frustrated

Came here for grad photos since our school had a contract with them. Photos came out tilted, set was comically unprofessional and messy, and they gave us jpegs for $81. (that we had to right click > save img as). 10/10 would not go again smh my 4head

You will be spending $105 minimum for university graduation photos. The experience is rushed and not personal. The prices are insane and all schools should absolutely stop using Artona as they force the students to get photos here. Insane rip off.

Michael Rak on the instant chat service was short with me. Despite paying $105 for one single non retouched image, it takes them three days to give you access to the file, and forget about it if you order it on a Thursday, its going to take them six days to give you access. Remember, they are open seven days a week. What a joke. You would think when paying these insane prices, it would at least come with fast service. They obviously have to pretend that it is more work than just giving access to a file when customers are paying such prices.

I had such a wonderful experience at my grad portrait session today. The two photographers that I got were both so lovely. I wish I had gotten their names! They kept hyping me up. I also took my dog with me. We had to try a couple of poses to get the perfect shot. They were so patient with me. So excited to see how my photos turned out!

My first time being robbed. For downloading 1 digital photo, they want me to pay $105.00; for 5, they want $235.99.
Absolutely they know the price is way too high, but with ALL the 1-star reviews they decided to change nothing. On their email they wrote "We know how much school and graduation photos mean to our students and families" - yes they know, and that's why they dare to ask us for such an unreasonable price. Is this not blackmail? I am disgusted by this total lack of business ethics. I will tell my school to find another company next year.

My close friend went to get her university grad photos here and had a terrible experience with the photographer, who continued to make unprofessional and rude comments throughout the shoot. These include:

"You're in business? Your sash is so ugly. "
"It's not too late to switch majors, if you chose another one it would have been better. "
She would mumble "disgusting" under her breath.

When my friend confronted her about her attitude she simply said "I'm out of saliva to talk. "

On top of all this the photographer was extremely rude to my friends mom. They are Chinese-Canadian and her mom is an older lady that doesn't speak english very well. I can't say if the photographers attitude was racially motivated but this experience has really hurt my friend.

I've tried calling the studio but there's been no answer. My emails asking for a manager contact have not been replied to either. So I'm writing this post to let everyone know how terrible this experience was.

I don't understand how the customer experience at this studio could be so terrible and how they're still in business. I would give 0 stars if it was an option.

They don't correct you when you need to be corrected. My friends picture is so bad, and all the girls say he is so attractive. The cost is higher than mt everest. And you know what? The pictures are always awful.everyone who cares about their picture gets the retake. And the retake is also bad. The only people who don't get a retake is the people who don't care and are too lazy to get the retake. Rip off.

We had photographers at graduation ceremony for all students. The photographer just shoot the photo without waiting for me to smile, so I have this really weird facial expression in the photo and it's the worst photo from my graduation. And it's single take you've got no choice can't believe a Such important event photo shoot done by someone really unprofessional‍️

I've come to Artona twice; once for graduation photos, and once for retakes for those graduation photos. Both experiences were super bad. Artona needs to learn how to be on schedule to respect customers' time and they need to learn how to run a business efficiently.

My first time at Artona I came on time, and yet I had to wait half an hour for a photographer to be ready for me. In between photo rooms, I had to wait an hour total for kids getting their photos taken because their parents were being fussy and telling the photographers what to do. These fussy parents cut into my photo time and were blocking coat hangers, bathrooms, mirrors - everything. Firstly, Artona said in emails to me that they wanted to limit the amount of people in the studio because of Covid - why were there whole families in the hallway between the photo rooms shoulder-to-shoulder? Secondly, I didn't even know what I looked like because of all of these parents blocking stuff and taking photos of their own kids getting their photos taken. Parents should not be allowed in between the photo rooms unless they are taking family photos. I didn't even bring my family because I thought Artona was going to actually respect Covid rules. Thirdly, why does Artona not respect my time? I was at their studio for an hour and a half that day, and only ten minutes of that was me getting my photos taken. I was super rushed while other people cut into my time. You can tell that my photos were rushed because my jewelery and dress are off-centre. I was annoyed and it showed in my photos.

My second time at Artona, I had to wait 50 minutes for a photographer just to call my name. It was only me and one another customer waiting for this whole hour. Because I had to wait so long I got sweat stains in my dress. The sweat stains showed in the photos. I complained to the photographer about them being so off schedule and she told me it was because there were dogs in the studio. Is that my problem? Is a dog worth more than a paying customer's time? Artona should cut off a person's time if they are taking too long and being fussy because it is not fair to everyone else. They need to stick to the schedule that they made themselves!

A blonde male photographer took some of my retakes. He was very nice and he put a lot of effort into making my photos look nice by adjusting my jewelery and dress, and adjusting for good lighting. I really appreciate that. If every photographer was like him, and also took to schedule, I would come back to Artona. Not going back to this inefficient monopoly however.

So angry right now, my daughter just had her grad photos taken, for some reason beyond me the photographer told her to take off her glasses why? She also didn't tell her when to smile I want a photo with her glasses on my daughter was so upset when she came home our images is built on yours, it certainly wasn't so I will not be purchasing photos and asking for my money back

I've been to Artona before for high school group grad photos, and that was great. However, this experience was not so good. I was already feeling awkward and the first photographer felt cold. He also told me that it looked like I was having a bad hair day.when I thought it was a good hair day? I was not really impressed. The last photographer (out of three) was great, but I was still off put by the first photographer.

Took poor group family pictures with my daughter"s grad pictures: my dress top was a bit stiff and puckered up badly on all four pictures. The photographer should have told me. After that, she only took one better one after we looked at the pictures & she said they had not enough time to take a few more (the family members did not look so good). Poor service for a company who takes many of the schools pictures for so many years. There should be more competition.

Two years in a row with poor quality high school pictures (poor posing, poor lighting), expected to pay an editing fee to brighten the photo. More expensive than elementary school photos (same photo, same setup, different company) and apparently have to pay shipping fees now on top of everything (why not send to the school?). School district should hire another company, I will be passing on suggestions to the school board.

And when I asked to have a retake instead of 60$ in all, they ask for 35$ a pose which is ridiculous. I would never recommend this place to anyone. This has ruined my grad photo memories when it was suppose to be memorable. Hated it!

I would like to thank Melissa for going above and beyond in correcting my order for my daughters Fall 2020 school picture. There were some mix ups and I was very upset and she came through solving all of the issues with compassion, understanding and professionalism. Photographers were friendly. However ordering photos is a terrible process. Pictures are highly over priced. The booklet I got in the mail gave me different prices that what was shown online. I wanted to get the 4 squared photo that comes with a picture frame however, the frame is out of stock. I tried the online chat asking if there was a discount because the frame would not be included. Person responded saying there is no discount on the frame. The 4 squared photo is already over priced at $90 for a single 8x 7 picture. I was already on the fence if I should get it but thought I would because there were 4 poses and all of the other options only provided with 1 pose. I ended up deciding not to get it as I would still be charged full prince without the included picture frame.

If you have the option I highly recommend not getting photos done at Artona. Only reason I went was because they are graduating photos for my post secondary institution.

I've never purchased any thing more expensive than these photos in the 17 years of my life, nor did i expect the record to be broken by a few photos. Which genius thought that after one purchases to get retouched, they have to pay again just to tell what needs to be retouched?

Terrible experience! I had a very bad time at the studio, the staff was very unprofessional and rude to me. I was very excited for these pictures but these are dreadful. These pictures are supposed to be one of the most important memories this year but they turned out awful. The session and retakes are very overpriced as well. Completely disappointed in the pictures.

Ridiculously overpriced. Sorry to say you guys just take advantage of graduation photos. For 16 digital images they charge 377$+tax, are you serious? Also 1 digital image is for 100$+tax. Why would you guys do this? You know very well that graduation is very special to students so you over charge and take advantage. Dear graduates please rent out your graduate gowns from university and click pictures at home only they will be much better.

Doesn't know how to set the lightings properly nor know how to take a picture properly. Honestly, I could have done a way better job on my phone.

And for those low-quality photos, they charge what, prices ranging from mid $100 to $500.

Extremely unprofessional photographer who have absolutely no idea what they are doing. Terrible lighting, awful and cheap props. On top of that they charge you over $500 for the pictures. I have no idea why schools choose to work with such a cheap company. Do no recommend. Overpriced and yet grads are forced to work with this company.

Absolute rip-off!

Every person opting to purchase a product or service deserves to know well in advance, how much the whole gig will cost. Artona advertises that their whole service only cost $75. There is NO MENTION of any other costs on their websites. One digital download will cost you $111 before taxes, which is ridiculously expensive. Make sure you enquire about all costs before you get into this. I will never recommend this place to anyone.

Ordered a massive package of photos for several hundred dollars which included 'digital social media downloads' for each photo I picked. The photos they give you to download are basically thumbnail quality (100kb file size), where you can see pixels easily at a glance. Thanks Artona!

I returned my booklet and was told I would get my deposit back in 3-5 business days. I waited a week then called in. The person on the phone said the check would come in at the end of the week. I waited until the end of the week still no check. I waited for another 3 days, called in again, and was told again at the end of the week. I don’t understand how you guys can send me the booklet in 2-3 days (probably trying to convince me to buy the overpriced photos) but can’t give me my money back in the same time. I just want my deposit back because my school payed already.

The photographer gave me VERY little directions in posing so most of my grad photos have my head tilted. My photos do not look professional - it looks like the photos that you would take during the warm-up of a photo shoot. I'm extremely disappointed in how they turned out. Save yourself the $60 sitting fee and just get a friend to take them instead.

Good and friendly staff! Just try to be respectful of the no pictures policy while in side the studio. They don't leave too much time for you so if you aren't satisfied with the photo or want to reshoot after seeing the picture, say something. They are there to help you! Also practise posing the night before =)

They advertise a sitting fee of 15$ at the University of Calgary. When we came on the day they made us pay 75$, saying that 60$ would be reimbursed if we didn't decide to buy photos. Then they sent me a paper advertisement booklet in the mail with some of my watermarked photos in it. They told us, if you don't decide to buy any photos you have to mail the paper booklet back to Vancouver in order to get your 60$ back. They are criminals

Ordered school photos November 17. Reached out December 3 as hadn't received them. Needed them for family Christmas cards. Cards I had mailed, without a school pic, had gone out December 2 and everyone had received them December 3. Artona said they had mailed it in the regular mail on November 27. Really? When I mail cards they arrive overnight but when Artona does it takes longer? Oh and yes your $6 shipping and handling pays for a stamp and zero tracking. Today is December 12 and they've told me they will re-ship in "the next day or so" after going back and forth with them since December 3. I've long since mailed out the Christmas cards that would normally include a school picture and family members will be disappointed to not receive their annual pic. Clearly customer service isn't Artona's strong point. Hopefully the school will choose a different company to work with next year. These guys are overpriced and their customer service is terrible.

Staff performance are vary. Some are really nice and professional and some just cool like "get in and do fast". There was so crowded on Saturday & Sunday cause most group photos taking are registered on the weekend. And bare in mind be on time and get prepared.

Went to get photos with a group of friends for our graduation. Although it was quite crowded, we did not mind the wait even though a man at the reception had told us that being a few minutes late was not permitted.

After having our photos taken, we were told that we would get our photos in 7-10 days. Another email confirmed that it would be 5-10 days. It has been past the date we were told and emailed to find out why our photos had not arrived. In the email, we were told to wait another 2 days for the photos to be processed online. I don't understand why it takes so long to send a bunch of photos.

I haven't started with the price, it is highly expensive for the service and photos we get.

I do not recommend coming here as it is very frustrating to deal with getting a few photos. Very unprofessional.

Photos are mediocre and a total rip off for the price they ask for. I know people who can take amazing pictures and edit it any way I want, and it wouldn't take nearly as much money for a picture to look amazing.

My grad experience at Artona turned out better than I thought; The location was nice, the cameraman was friendly, and the photo turned out great! We were a group on the larger side, so I was worried the shoot may have been crowded – but this was absolutely not the case.
Despite all the negative reviews, overall I rate my experience a net positive. My group seems to share this sentiment.

The photos my friends took in the Artona bathroom on a phone were well worth the price – like darn, we somehow managed to fit 12 people in there.

Its a shame about the actual photos from Artona, though. I don't mind long wait times, so if 5-10 days doesn't work just say so upfront. Very unprofessional.

I love Artona! They have excellent customer service.

I bought my son there two weeks ago to take his graduation photos. The girl at the front desk was very helpful. I asked her to see if she can find someone to help my son tie a tie, she quickly called a staff to assist (who happened to be the photographer). The photographer came to reception, but he was clueless about tying a tie. Lol. But he quickly went to another room, and within 2 minutes, my son's tie was all ready to go. They had it all prepared and my son just had to slip his head into it and tighten the tie.

I was also online tonight to place my order. I was confused about some of the packages but luckily they have online chat. This was so handy and even better when it's 9: 30pm! I was so impressed!

I really enjoyed my experiences with Artona!
