The Bayside Resort

The hotel has been tastefully updated, while maintaining a very welcoming, small town vibe. It's an older hotel, but with the updates and the meticulous cleaning of the rooms and general areas, it is as good (or better) than the big fancy hotel down the street. All staff were over and above kind/ hospitable, truly felt welcomed and as though they were happy to have us there. The restaurant was also incredibly accommodating and welcoming. Beautiful visit! Thank you for having us:)

This hotel is amazing. The views are fantastic, restaurant food is great and the rooms are very clean. The oceanside rooms with the balconies are so nice.

The room has a great nespresso coffee machine as well.

Very good customer service and looking forward to staying again.

Waiter had his hands everywhere but where they should be. When not in his pockets walking around, or tableside, touching female servers around the waist. Not appropriate. Distasteful during dinner.

One of those very wonderful experiences. Can only say great things about this resort hotel and our stay.
Rooms and location overlooking the ocean provided a special atmosphere and mood setting feeling. Amenities were all close and mostly in house. Foods was good and service was second to none.
And the entire staff added to our great experience. We will not stay anywhere else whenever in Parksville.

I’m not a fan of a mandatory 18% tip when my friend and I only had a drink each. I’m a generous tipper, but this mandatory thing bothered me.

Bayside Resort was super beautiful and the front staff were wonderful. Stuart especially did an amazing job accommodating our check-in needs. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We stayed here for 2 nights last week. Loved balcony and ocean view, worth to spend more money. This place was clean and quiet at night. I loved drinking nespresso coffee on the balcony in the morning and my mom who is in her mid 70s enjoyed walking to the beach everymorning. I was a bit worried after reading the reviews, some said that the rocks were slippery. But it was ok for her to go on the beach and explore. I will definitely come back!

The staff were very friendly, We had an ocean view room that was amazing and loved waking up to the sound of the waves. The room was very clean and it was nice to see real coffee mugs and wine glasses instead of plastic. We had an excellent supper at their restaurant (scallop and prawn pasta and a short rib rigatoni. Both were very tasty and cooked perfectly.

There is not much to say. It's nice. Great view if you get the right room.
Just costly

We just ate at the restaurant, which had some great seafood options. The hotel part looked nice but we didn't stay the night.

This is a beautiful hotel and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Upon check-in Gregory noticed a couple errors that the booking agent made and rectified them right away. We ended up with a much cheaper rate and an oceanfront room at no extra charge. Gregory even called the room once we were settled to make sure that we had everything we needed! The room was beautiful, the views spectacular, if was a room that my daughter and I didn’t want to leave. Would definitely stay here again!

The service was excellent - very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and serves surprisingly fast. We thoroughly enjoyed the live guitar music while we ate. We will definitely be back.

Friendly service, business center, and restaurant with scheduled entertainment. Recent renovations with fast enough internet and paved parking lot. Only lacking a family room/change table. Spa located here.

As I entered for the first time I was struck by the open and airy feeling. I was heading in to have lunch with some family. We sat out on the patio area and the view of the beach was wonderful. The smell of the sea air added to the atmosphere. The waitress had to be asked a few times for some small service items like water refills etc.looked like they may have been a bit short staffed. The food was well prepared and served hot. I really enjoyed my meal while taking in the view. I would likely return if I am in the area again.

We have a fabulous experience at this resort. Jack at the front desk was exceptional which made our first few minutes already off to a great start. We booked a pet friendly room and our doggie loved her little goodie bag she received. It was our first time bringing our new doggie to our hotel and we felt very welcomed. Our room was very clean and comfy. The patio was breathtaking for both sunset and sunrise views. Thank you for such a fabulous experience from start to finish. We will definitely be back!

We booked a stay at the resort and ended up having to book an extra day due to some changes in plans. Jack, went the extra mile and made sure we didn’t have to switch rooms, can’t imagine all the maneuvering he had to do given the hotel was sold out. With a 2 year old we can’t tell you how much we appreciated that. Every staff member we encountered from the front desk to the restaurant, cleaning staff were excellent. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great hotel with superior service. This has become a new spot for us and we will be back for future visits. Thank you everyone at Bayside resort well done!

Our room faced the parking lot and was on second floor. Thin walls. Could hear conversations and drawers being opened and closed. Could hear the thumping of footsteps above us. Did not care for the bland white decor. Bathroom was tiny. For the price expected better.

We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast at The Bayside. Our Eggs Benny were cooked to perfection. Our waitress Sarah was friendly, efficient and welcoming. The view is beautiful and the restaurant is spacious and inviting. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful too. We didn't stay in the hotel so we can't comment on the rooms. We will definitely return to eat there again!

My Wife and I had a dinner there. The Chef cannot cook a Medium rare steak, only very Well done. One of, if not the Worst cooked steak i have ever seen. And the Roast chicken was cooked days before, stored and then microwaved, so disgusting So Dry and gross taste. We Sent everything back.
They said they agreed with us, and our Meals weren't up to their Standards, they charged us only for our drinks. There is something Major wrong with the Skill level/ proficiency of the Cooking staff in the Kitchen.
We will NEVER NEVER BE BACK. This restaurant scared us, so absolutely disgusting.

Had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant. I had heard rave reviews in Nanaimo so made the short hop up to see for myself. Sure enough, Bayside delivered on all fronts. From start to finish, it was an excellent experience.

Ian, our server, was professional and skilled. The food was delightful. It paired beautifully with the meal.

Visited The Bayside for a one-night stay last weekend. I primarily chose the resort for the location, price, and that it accepted dogs for stay.

We got a waterfront room, second floor. Check-In was good. Thankfully they had my reservation, which I made short notice, the day before. Our dog got a welcome bag which we thought was thoughtful.

The room was clean, the view was lovely with a patio. The curtains were drawn back, the colour scheme and current design made for a beach/modern vibe to me. The air conditioning was on and the tv was playing a relaxing playlist (thankfully check-in included a quick run-down on the remote which MOST places don't do). The air inside had no smell, no mustyness (I would have been surprised if there was).

It was just as I expected, and comfy for us. The rules for the dog was good and understandable, nicely written out on a sheet of paper within the welcome doggy bag. It was also nice to see other dogs in the hotel, and other staff members greeting the dogs. It just made us more comfortable walking from the stairwell, through the lobby and outside.

Dogs have a nice open lawn to go make outside, which typically some dogs prefer. That was fully appreciated by us.

Unfortunately, aside from staying and bringing the dog and using the air conditioner, we were not determined to use room service.

We did use the patio on the restaurant at 9pm to have drinks, as they only serve drinks after 9pm until 10pm outside. The sunset was beautiful to see out there on the water.

Overall stay was relaxing, the dog didn't feel like troublesome staying in the hotel, and despite the random movement noise outside our door at times, it did go quiet upon the later bedtime hours. Enjoyed the customer service and the plentiful parking as well. Maybe next time I'll go visit the restaurant and Cafe.

I'd recommend giving this place a shot if you're with your pooch! They're also building a swimming pool outside, which I didn't ask when it would be finished, but chances are maybe for next year? There is an indoor pool facility though, and it looks like towels can be asked for at the front desk.

What I liked seeing and noticed was that staff members looked professional, very informative, and confident in what their roles were. (Not sure if that sounds silly, but I noticed that during our stay)

Looks nice from the outside and in the lobby but once we arrived in our room… you can hear your neighbour as if they are in the room. If you dont take with ocean view you will have a nice view with machines and noises.

We were only here one night, mores the pity! A beautiful place right on the beach front. We had a sea view room which was very clean and comfy. Staff were lovely. We had breakfast too. Seeing all the Bald Eagles on the beach was awesome.

The ocean view king bed room was very nice. Clean and bright interior design. The calming music that was playing as we entered the room for the first time was a classy touch. Balcony with two nice chairs to watch the large cruise ships head up the coast in the evening light, listening to the water lap, and hearing the gulls in the background, was all super relaxing. Bed was comfy, good tv, lots of mirrors, suitcase stand all good features. Restaurant was good but a bit pricy. Seemed to be a restaurant visited by the local sophisticated crowd. View from my balcony was twice as good. Overall the only drawback was the swimming pool and jacuzzi - all very dated and jacuzzi wasn't very hot. But was surprised to find the racquetball courts beside the exercise room! Staff were all pleasant and speedy. Free close parking. No issues with the whole experience.

We stayed here in 2021 with our granddaughter. The hotel is clean, friendly and well run. The restaurant has a lovely view of the water, an extensive menu with lots of great choices for kids. A short path leads onto the beach for fun times.

Lovely and supportive staff and reception. I quite enjoyed meals at the restaurant and walk down the Bay. The room I stayed was clean with great bathroom and the Nespresso was a treat to indulge in. It was certainly a sight when I spotted an eagle

Comfortable beds and pillows. Walls between room don't have the greatest sound barrier. But otherwise decent place for a one night stay

Stopped here for lunch on Wednesday. Beautiful location and views, and an attractively arranged dining room. Excellent service. Couldn't be faulted. Lunch special soup tomato and chorizo with garlic bread was brilliant, and the seafood chowder smelled divine. World's best carrot cake and world's best mango sorbet finished a great lunch. Highly recommended.

Lovely lunch, window with ocean view - beautiful. Service was attentive; unfortunately, a large party was seated next to us, which made our ability to visit challenging due to noise. They were not able to move us to another seat with view as they indicated they were already held for other reservations.
It was my birthday celebration with a friend I hadn't seen for a long time due to pandemic.
They brought a lovely chocolate cake dessert with candle compliments of the house. Food was tasty, had a halibut burger, and friend had halibut and chips.
I would recommend asking for seating not close to a larger table if looking for an intimate environment.

Nice place. Friendly staff. Clean and recently updated. Spent the extra for the ocean view and it was worth it. Channel and movie selection was a disappointment for relaxing in the evening. Thats the only upgrade I would suggest to move to a 5 out of 5.

It was a beautiful experience. My daughter treated me to the nicest resort for an overnight stay for my birthday. The room was excellent, very clean and the beds were comfortable. The view from the room couldn't be better. Dinner was delicious, well presented and to top if off, I had complementary chocolate cake for my birthday. This is one resort I would stay at and eat at again.

Great stay. Facility clean. Staff was very friendly. Restaurant looked good, but prices unaffordable for average family. $30/plate and up. I've heard food is good, but at that price would likely only go if it's a special occasion.

Way the Shaw Wi-Fi system setup makes it impossible to use Chromecast or cast to TV from your phone for Netflix, YouTube orother services, so you're stuck with traditional commercial filled legacy TV. Staff was outstanding and facility is well looked after with great views and central location. Definitely be back.

They have done some major renovations. Unfortunately, the separating half walls are a bit too high so the restaurant staff can't see that there is anyone waiting to enter. Also, they have a totally new menu that people with food allergies might have difficulty eating.

Down to. 2 stars Hotel great usual but bAR AND RESTAURANT M not so great. Music in bar aimed at twenty year old bartender and young server staff, NOT THE customers. ASKED TO BE TURNED DOWN.yes but put loudly on other TV,

Staying here right now and super impressed. Amazing views, dog (very) ready and the staff are all so courteous and friendly. Kudos to management (and everyone) for instilling such an amazing/enriching culture.

The weekend was magical. The breakfast, dinner and supper was wonderful. Supper with a piano bar, oh my. The three days of wonderful!

Fantastic service, great food in resturant, very clean, fresh rooms, excellent view. My go to in parksville!

Stopped in here on a whim because our hotel restaurant was booked for the evening. Very pleasant surprise. Beautiful dining room, good service with knowledgeable servers. We had the scallop appetizer and the short rib rigatoni. Both were creative and sensational, and if pressed to give a critique, I would say maybe a touch more salt on the garnish for the scallops and maybe a little less blue cheese in the rigatoni but that's being incredibly picky. We left very full and very satisfied. Would definitely go back.

Undergoing renos at present, I think. Just popped in for a quick look-see. Certainly going to return again. Second and third and fourth visits to the restaurant are all very rewarding experience. Taylor gave us such friendly, excellent service. We'll be back!

Really nice restaurant with a nice view of the bay. A really nice selection of meals and drinks. Our server, Taylor, was great! She made sure we were well taken care of. The meal portions were excellent.

My fiancée and I had planned to have our wedding at there venue. We were very excited and couldn’t wait however they made multiple promises to us regarding how many guests we could have (this was previous the new restrictions, this was regarding fire Marshall capacity), where on the venue we could have our ceremony, what was included, etc. All of that was false and they didn’t communicate it to us. I had to reach out multiple times before the event coordinator even responded back, which then after I asked about more info regarding the event then he told us that all the info that made us choose the venue was wrong. He promised to help us find a new venue that would fit our vision and then again never contacted us again until I reached out and did not have any leads. Everything they promised wasn’t true. Then when we finally decided we couldn’t have the venue there anymore and let them know about are experience the general manager and events coordinator gave us a poor apology and not taking any responsibility or understanding the predicament they put us in trying to find a new venue during the pandemic. I never put out any bad reviews but I really don’t want any other couples to have to go through this stress and frustration for there special day.

This is such a gem. We happened upon the restaurant looking for lunch a few days ago as we headed up island from Nanaimo. We were so impressed at the look of the hotel and quality of food that, when we got stranded by the ferry cancellations, we booked into the hotel for the night. The rooms are beautifully renovated as is the lobby and restaurant. Right on the water in a beautiful bay. Our server Nicky was phenomenal as was the food and wine. We will definitely look at staying here and eating here again next time we are back on the island.

Best meal ever! I slurped up the Tuna appetizer and the Prosciutto wrapped Halibut.to die for delicious! Service is impeccable!

Had the ribs. And veggies it was to die for. Very well done. The peppercorn that two with us had in the steak sauce was a bit too strong. On than that it was very good. Prices were reasonable for 4 at $250 with drinks and wine. Service was slow but that it's suprising with all the staffing shortages. Worth a stop if your in town.

My husband and I were there for our honeymoon. We emailed via expedia to see if they would or had anything special for honeymooners but we didnt get any response. The staff at the front desk were extremely friendly and accommodating and very helpful. However, the couple of times we called the staff (different from the front desk staff, we're 100% certain) sounded disinterested in their job. When we got into our room, we had to kill around 40 fruit flies.we didnt want to call anyone because one of the staff we called mentioned that they were short staffed. We did mention the fruit flies when we checked out to the front desk staff.

Did not stay the night. But, met friends for a birthday dinner in the restaurant one evening and returned for breakfast the next day.
We ordered a wide variety of meals both times. Everything was well prepared, service was friendly and professional and a good time was had by all.

I have stayed at many great hotels when I used to be able to travel. This is a simple clean hotel with beautiful views of the beach. It is not particularly modern but comfortable. I have to call out the staff. They are second to none. Super helpful, happy, hardworking and really seem to enjoy looking after their guests.

The beach views are fantastic from the beachfront facing rooms. We lazed around and relaxed. During the time we have had, we had a superb check-in, the gentleman at the front desk is strongly recommended, as he went over and beyond than the normal. He made us feel so comfortable and special, his name is Jack. Jack, we thank you again, for a very special follow-up, for providing a more than courteous minute, for showing up when you were needed. There's always a chance that we will return!
The rooms are super clean, and very specially laid out, we especially liked the boutique style layout of simple amenities.

Nice looking hotel, room was a good size and had a balcony. Staff were friendly. Parking was far, would not consider this place to be a resort. Booked a king size bed/room, got a room with 2 double beds instead. We assumed that considering the price of the room and the multiple nights booked, that we would get an ocean view at least. Food was ok. Overall, the location was good, however we felt that there were several moments where "the ball was dropped" and as these moments add up, it did affect our overall experience. I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone unless the price was decreased.

This is a clean little hotel BUT for seniors! If you are a younger couple or family, there isn’t much to do here. Nearby amusement park is about all there is if you have kids. The beach is nearby and it is a very nice view but you can get that just walking on the board walk. It is quiet and relaxed. The staff are very helpful. The pool is average and the hot tub lacks jet power. The king size bed we shared was broken with a giant dip in the middle. So we would end up rolling onto each other. Lol They have COVID rules through out the hotel but not consistent. Wear a mask and social distance but here is a shared microwave that isn’t cleaned everyday. ‍️ overall it is a cheap clean hotel perfect for a quiet getaway.

Such a great dining experience. Many thanks to the manager Darren who personally toured around the tables asking how things were tasting; this was a great show of integrity. Our waitress was always on the ball with the timing of dishes, drinks and refills, and very friendly and attentive. The view was incredible! Kilometers of unspoiled oceanfront, excellent landscaping and lots of local fauna to watch. Menu was well structured but smaller for food freshness. Plating was sublime; beautiful presentation every time.

Everything is very clean and updated, but you can tell it's originally a very old building. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant looks very nice. The view and beach access are both wonderful!

Other than the fact it's on the Beach, I would not recommend staying here. If you have dogs, there isn't anywhere to walk them. Even though they have a huge backyard, we were told that dogs weren't allowed. If you're a smoker, you have to walk to the end of the block and stand on the corner to smoke. Pool closed, restaurant closed, beach closed and yet no discount. They acted like they were doing us a favor by letting us stay here. Especially Laura

On Hotwire, their website, and even when you call the front desk they will state that all of their amenities are available when in fact not a single one is. Restaurant was under reno, hot tub was drained, pool and fitness center were closed, and there was the cheapest continental breakfast I've ever seen. When they say continental breakfast I didn't expect the African continent, all in all its a beautiful hotel with careless owners who only seem to care about money

The hotel is clean, however i have had poor experiences with the staff on multiple occasions. My room was given away prior to me arriving and therefore I had to make other arrangements in an emergency, as well the staff misled me to beleive i had multiple nights booked when only one night was booked, and had to remove my belongings on short notice while on vacation. I wont be returning on the premise of poor customer service.

I booked a room over a week ago, arrived at 10pm as we were travelling from Tofino on our way back home to Kelowna. We had a very tired 6 year old. We were told that the debit visa we used to book isn’t sufficient and we’d need an actual credit card. Despite offering to pay the room and damage deposit (and then some) up front with either a debt visa and/or cash. So we were stuck trying to find another hotel. Very disappointed.

Not too bad a place, went there to eat and food was good. Sad thing is the food used to be superb! Now basically run of the mill.

Great location beachside - see pics. Friendly staff. Very comfortable and clean. We used this as a stopover on our way from Whistler to Ucluelet. Nearby restaurants as well as at the hotel. Recommended.

Great view and easy beach access. Rooms are par for the $ range. Crab cakes and salmon burgers were good. Breakfast service was slow and substandard.

I wish I did regret what I am about to say, but it's all what occurred during my self& my wife's last an most recent stay.
The receptionist who checked us in would only speak to an look at my wife, as i was asking about our reservation we found to of not bee. In they're system untill I could see my wife was uncomfortable I then fsked him "sir may you deal with me an talk to me" we found this very inappropriate and rude
We had just checked in an got settled just to realize there was, urine all over the toilet& floor, well that was just the beginning. The housekeeping girls came around we had left for breakfast an thought knothing of leaving our things in there put away, well we came back to notice the suite was not cleaned, and my wife's expensive makeup& hair straightener were missing, we reported it an vot a police report and file#. We left the very same afternoon! Best of wishes to those who choose them!

The man who worked the reservation desk was extremely rude and insulted my boyfriend and I when inquiring about the cost of different rooms. When we asked for the price of a ocean view room with a king size bed, he ignored our request and proceeded to tell us the cost of their most basic room with two queen beds and facing the street. When asked again for the price of a nicer room as it was for a special occasion the receptionist actually said that he wasn’t comfortable with having us stay with the Bayside because he thought that my partner was “wigged out” I am appalled by this statement! I have never been more offended by anyone in the service industry before in my life! Not only was this rude and assaulting, but totally shocking as to why he would say something like that potential patrons. I would never stay with The Bayside Resort and strongly recommend that anyone who might not look like they are rich and drive a Lexus ever try and stay with this resort either or they too may be publicly humiliated in front of other guests or personally deeply offended by the rudest front desk person who lacks the skills necessary to do his job and the judgment to make appropriate comments while dealing with their clientele without insulting people openly without hesitation. Horrible customer service!

Used to have a good menu, fair selection of wines, good food, great service. Not anymore. I am not sure if I will go back anytime soon.

Stayed here for a couple of nights last week. Nicely updated since i was last there. Clean and modern. Great location and food in the retaraunt was great! Indoor swimming pool and gym facilities were a nice bonus. Good value for the price.

We've stayed twice, recently, once in the summer and once in the winter. Both times were great experiences. The location in Parksville is excellent, with direct access to the beach. The hotel and rooms are nicely decorated and appear to have been refreshed relatively recently. There is lots of parking available and the pool is nice to have, especially with children. It also seems to be heated.

Areas for improvement: there are limited options to eat in Parksville, and the restaurant would not be my first choice. In our experience it service was slow and the value was not there. The fitness facilities are shared with a fitness club, and in general appear a bit round at the edges.

Went for wings tonight. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. Cold beer brought immediately and food was hot. She not only inquired into how our food was but asked specifics (bonus points!), She was on top of everything. Will definitely go back. Only downside was that we were unsure where the restaurant was when entering hotel area.

Worst hotel experience. One person tells us our room wasn’t booked by an accident. The email clearly states we wanted two extra nights and a room upgrade. Apparently they accidentally only book one extra night. Then the manager tells me that they book the hotel up for twice a year. Anyways, my wife with two kids were kicked to the curb because they rented out the room she was in for the last night. They called another hotel for her. Big help. Our family has been customers for 30+ years. And we will never be back. An apology and a phone call to a different hotels seems to me very little effort, considering the hassle it created for a mom with Two kids and weeks worth of belongings and no vehicle because of emergency renovations at home. Poor service to a local family.

"The place to stay". Room, Dining Room all top notch. Too bad all receptionists aren't like Val. She was great. Only concern: bathroom small for a wheelchair. Our experience was very good.

We had our wedding here and it beyond exceeded our expectations. The staff the facility the food the view just everything was spot on. We couldn't have asked for a better venue

We were there for a private function, their kitchen and banquet staff were exceptional, friendly and exceedingly considerate. The buffet looked amazing and the presentation was exquisite! For myself, I am vegan, the chef (Storm) went above and beyond to accommodate me, and presented me with an absolutely delicious meal. Thank you Bayside staff! We will definitely return!

Excellent. A treat to return for and experience all the renovations yet retain the friendly service.

Very disappointing lunch. My clam chowder was luke warm and the carrots were so raw that I thought it was a bone. My Cesar salad had so much dressing on it that the poor little romaines were wilted from the weight of the dressing!

Great food and fantastic views of the Ocean. Service was good. Lots of parking. I would go back. Recommend to go a little later in evening to take in the entertainment.

After staying at the Bayside for the better part of the past year with my dog Rufus, we are both a little sad we finally moved to Parksville full time! I have been staying at the Bayside ten days a month for work since last August 2018. Every time we check in, my puppy and I are treated like family, the front of house staff are incredible and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The restaurant has a seriously affordable happy hour menu, the view can't be beat and the new renovations are so clean and bright. I especially appreciate the nespresso machines in the rooms. My only caution is if you enjoy quiet evenings or mornings to request a room not above or beside the restaurant patio, it's busy in the summer with folks outside until nine or ten, and enjoying the stunning deck for breakfast. I sleep with the balcony door open to hear the ocean, you could always close the door for total quiet. Highly recommended. Best dog friendly hotel in Mid-Island!

Newly renovated and lovely. Even a nespresso machine in the room. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable, stylish decorations but thoughtfully done. The approach doesn’t do it any justice.

The views are amazing with a beautiful beach a few steps away. Helpful professional staff. Had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Dinner we had burgers and the kids portion was a good size. My salmon burger was delicious, a touch dry but the sauce made up for it. The outside patio was very busy, with a few fire pit tables to ward off the chill. Sorry we are only here for a night.

Beautiful hotel and location, right overlooking the water. The hotel looks older from the outside, but upon entering, everything is renovated beautifully from the lobby to the rooms. The same colours flow throughout the building, and everything looks and feels modern. Rooms were very clean, and we were upgraded to an ocean view room for free, which was amazing! So appreciated. The pool was clean, and although indoors, half the roof is open to the sky!

The only improvement suggestion I have: change the soap dishes in the bathrooms - the soap is so hard to get out of them due to square corners haha!

We’ll definitely stay again if we come back to Parksville in the future.
