The Beanery Café

I have lived in three major cities across Canada and today at The Beanery I had the best cappuccino that was ever served to me anywhere!
Talk about smooth and tasty! The ambiance is gold standard. We'll definitely be coming back & we very much enjoyed that this is a dog friendly location.

Friendly little cafe, very chill. Outside seating - dogs welcome. A nice place to take a 20 minute break and strike up conversation with the locals.

Great sweets and drinks, and location.

The staff really seem to do their best, but they easily get swamped from the popularity of the place, at least in the summer months.

The noise level though… the acoustics make the inside unbearably loud, and
the music seems to be turned up to compete with the background din; can’t have a comfortable conversation most of the time.

Still, their mochas are the BEST, so I put on my noise cancelling headphones or sit outside on their “patio”, which they keep fairly clean and comfortable.

Chic cafe, good coffee, amazing sandwiches - we didn't get to eat them but they looked substantial and fresh! Little gem in Summerland.

Disappointed with the coffee unfortunately. We even asked the barista how many pumps of flavouring they put in there Carmel macchiato, and her response was “depends how I’m feeling”
No consistency here!

Was disappointed in how long it took for 2 Sammy’s to be made. It was not busy. Also the girl making the food was sporting extra long fingernails (very unsanitary), kept wiping her face with her hands and wiping hands on her shorts. Never washed her hands even after she stopped making the food and took orders on the cash. All the while handling the food with her bare hands. Unsanitary practices to say the least. Sorry for this review but cafe needs attention to food prep detail. Also many flies inside.

Love the interior. Great job on the ambiance but food was overpriced and the server mislead us into buying a sandwich with sides when we clearly expressed we didn't want sides but were told it "comes with it". The sandwiches were listed behind the server as at $9+ which is what we were pointing to but they had a $16+ lunch spcial not mentioned but listed elsewhere that included a tiny salad (that's an extra $7!) then got the salads wrong for 2 of us. Pasta was too salty but 2 sandwiches turned out too bland (not enough sauce?). Did not get drinks but the price for 4 came to $70? Yikes.

A great place for breakfast, lunch, or a drink. We choose here for quick meetings. UPDATE 2022: Still a great place to meet. They have done some renovations that have brightened up the space.

Visited it a couple of times.
The sandwiches and soup were awesome.
The pastry and coffee were decent.

Very friendly and fast service. Great food/ drinks and nice portion sizes if you want to have breakfast or lunch. Highly recommend stopping in for at least a yummy treat.

Trendy place with lots of selection for different drinks and treats. Plan on waiting a bit at peak times, it gets busy!
Didn't like the lack of prices on the baked goods and the old prices on the order board. Felt like a bit of a gouge when the price was almost double the price of the board! Better transparency would be appreciated.

Great food and drinks.

The staff works very efficiently and clearly does their best, but it doesn’t stop the waiting time from consistently being a little long.

Such a cute place! Food options all looked amazing, and they and many vegan options too! Had an Okanagan Fog latte and a cheese bun - both super yummy!

My favorite spot in Summerland for coffee.
This place is super popular, so make sure you head in earlier if you want a nice seat on the patio! The inside details are a pleasant surprise. I love how kid friendly it is as well.
Service is great and so is the atmosphere.
Highly recommend checking them out.

Service varies between 3-5 stars, it's always good but sometimes they go above and beyond. Only one barista mentioned that they have 2 matcha powders and one has dairy in it- we'd always assumed the matcha latte with oat milk would be safe, so it was nice of her to take the extra time/care to ask and then recommended syrup because it's not as sweet. The coconut substitute they use tastes off, don't reccomend.
Everything else is great though and they are friendly. Good place!

They forgot our order of soup. They didn't bring it to us. The building is so cold that the plants are dying. The register asks for a tip when I have to serve myself. That's wrong.

Went there for the first time today. My son wanted a sticky bun (cinnamon bun), thought I would grab a coffee at the same time. Was told they have no cream for my coffee at 815 am. Really? That’s like a pizza place without cheese. First and last time, no thanks.

Great staff and great coffee and baked goods. My go to place if I am in or driving through Summerland

Great coffee staff is wonderful! Owners are amazing. Food is delicious, excellent vegan choices Love! Love hanging out there. Easy street parking. Best in Summerland and area!

Was in Summerland for a few days work. Had breakfast here every day. Food was great and the staff were always friendly.

This was the BEST matcha soy green tea latte I have ever had. The muffin was good too! Crunchy top.

Came in for a quick sandwich during our road trip. We had a bit of a mix up with the order due to allergies and they were so accommodating. They fixed our order right away and gave my husband an extra order of soup while we waited. The soup was amazing and the sandwich was worth the wait. Didn't try any coffee or drinks but would definitely try them next time.

Excellent service, very kind staff and Management. Really good food, and amazing drinks. My new go to.

We usually come here for coffee and lunch when we are staying in Summerland but this last visit the coffee was horrible. We asked for two short Americanos. What we got was lukewarm coloured water. When I went to the counter let them know and to ask for espressos instead they made no attempt to apologize, gave me one espresso and then looked confused when I asked for another one as we had ordered 2. I would suggest going down the street to Just Hazel instead.

Wow, wonderful surprise today to come across the paleo apricot bar. Best tasting, healthy choice bar I’ve tasted so far (and I’ve sampled many looking for perfect healthy snack). No sugar, moist, and a great combo of healthy ingredients! Thank you! Great find coming from Vancouver.

Very friendly and responsive staff, delicious coffee and food (especially grilled turkey panini)

It's a great little cafe in downtown Summerland with excellent coffee and very friendly service

The food and coffee are great. The sandwiches are tasty and large. The only complaint I have is that after visiting this coffee shop four times, I along with other patrons have waited about 20 minutes to get our drinks or food. They are so slow. They are very nice and friendly. But if your looking for stopping in for a quick coffee or bite, you will be standing and waiting a good twenty minutes for it. If you don’t mind the longer than usual wait, it’s a great coffee shop

Our family always makes sure to stop in a couple times during our time in the okanagan, its a gem!

Lots of good options for food, got a ham (that means 4 very tiny, thin pieces on top of the cheese biscuit which wasn't warmed up, had to ask for butter, but didn't get a knife, no lid for coffee (they did replenish them after everyone got their top go coffee). It was fairly busy so we could see how these things can happen. So many people ordered the Nanaimo bars that I almost went back in to get some.

Brought my mom here for breakfast while I was visiting Summerland. The Ham Sammy was great and I really enjoyed it. My mom had a blueberry scone and loved how much fruit was packed into it. Great place, good food, and good coffee!

My business partner and I enjoy meeting once per week at varying establishments. 2 weeks ago, we stopped here and had a fantastic experience.

There is nothing I love more than seeing people pursue their dream, and that is what is behind this shop. In fact, you may find yourself in great conversation with one of the owners as they take your order, or come around to collect your dishes.

Beyond great atmosphere, great coffee, and beyond great snacks; a business needs personality and the Beanery has just the right amount of it.

I'm proud to be a friend and patron of the Beanery Cafe. Although I live in West Kelowna, we will visit here monthly at least.

I love their coffee. There are so many types of coffee recipes they create and all are good! Smoothies are good too, staff is super friendly. My favourite coffee shop.

Stopped in after a hike. Got the Turkey panini and roasted pepper and tomato soup. The soup in particular was excellent.

Stopped in for a warm up coffee by the fireplace on a cold morning. I was happily surprised by how busy they were in the midst of Covid. They practiced safe distancing with all aspects of their service while being kind and friendly. They've completely remodeled since the last time I was in and it looks great. Much deserved success.

This was my first experience, and after eating here, This became my favorite Korean dish. I don't live in the area, but nowadays my go-to food when eating out is The Beanery Café, because of this place.

Since the new owners took over I am very disappointed with the slow service, the running out of to go cups in certain sizes and the inconsistency of my daily mocha's. They had a well oiled machine the way the staff worked together and knew there routine, not anymore. I ran a drive through coffee house in the lower mainland so I am familiar to this type of business and running out of cup did not happen, the loss would be too much. You can't own a business and not be 100% hands on and know what's going on in your shop or when you need to replenish stock. Sorry for the vent but tired of paying 6.05 everyday for a mocha and having to throw it away.

Shout-out to the The Beanery Café team for their amazing spread at the #REMAXPentictonRealty training event today! Everything was deeelish! I will definitely put breakfast (and lunch) at the Summerland, Beanery Café on my must do list. **HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Very neat and clean coffee shop, offering up soup and sandwiches, regular coffees, espressos, cappuccinos, lattes etc. Great location in a beautiful town.

Almost an institution in Summerland, the recent changes have taken things up a notch. Brighter decor, more convenient layout, same great coffee and even more food and pastry delights. A can't miss Café destination.

I have heard some bad talk about the new owners around town (typical small town Summerland) and have to say I'm really surprised because when I was in and asking for gluten free options with my mum the new owner was super super super sweet and you could tell she was passionate about the business! I also love how they are keeping old classics from the menu and also slowly adding new things! It's a refreshing change

Its so refreshing to see new owners implementing positive changes to our little cafe! They are so friendly and have the best interests of their guests and the town at heart. Not only are they implemening more vegan and gluten free options but they're also incorporing more local and fresh ingredients.

I can't wait to see how it looks when the reno is finished! Thank you for investing in our little town.

Hopefully the citizens of Summerland can be a little more accepting to change and try something new, beacuse you never know, you might just like it.

Driving through Summerland for some wine and the local rep at The Back Door recommended this little hidden jewel. We stopped by and enjoyed our cheese bun, cinnamon bun and a coffee for a pit stop. Very comfortable place with freshly made treats. They sell sandwiches, buns and cookies. The buns were fresh despite being day old? ! This place is very busy for a small city. A little JJ Bean in Summerland. Thank you SIR from the Dack Door! This will be our pit stop to and from Kelowna.

Stopped in the Beanery for lunch today and couldn't believe how nice the café looked. It was freshly painted and the new owners were there to serve me my soup & sandwich. The soup was hot and delicious and the owner was so nice and friendly to me. Came right up and introduced herself and wanted to make sure everything was okay. What a pleasant surprise. I will definitely be stopping in more.

It's good, but it's no longer great.

I've been here in Summerland since October of last year. So just over 4 months now. And I was lucky enough to stumble upon the beanery when I first came to town. The locals raved about this place, (and it still does receive high praise from people that I talk to) so I decided to check it out for myself. My initial reaction post-sale was extremely positive. It had a very vast selection of healthy and delicious menu items on display, all of the drinks that I had were quite good. But the one thing that really captured my attention was the atmosphere. It had a lot of character about the place, it had art on the walls, a beautiful layout, and the people behind the counter where genuinely interestedand having a conversation with you, only if it was for the 10 seconds or 15 seconds that they were preparing your drink. Post sale, I don't really have very many complaints about the food, although I do feel that the portions are a little bit smaller and they have altered a few of the recipes that should not have been touched, but when you walk in there, there's no.zing.

It's very sterile and uninviting. The Christmas lights on the wall where a nice touch perhaps around the Christmas time. But the reminiscence of the old beanery have all but vanished. The people behind the counter seem a little bit more sterile and treat you as a numbered customer that they want to get out the door quickly, rather than engaging with you to make you feel welcome.

Still has great coffee, and I still definitely will frequent the place, but sadly, I can't say it's going to be my first choice anymore.

Ever since new ownership, poor practices in management have resulted in a disappointing experience.will not be going back.

Great coffee shop miss the model train but all the rest is still great, and on a side not I fell in love with my wife here:)

Stopping in to The Beanery Cafe is always such a treat! A MUST as you drive into Summerland. Great coffee, delicious baked goods and always something new to try for lunch. They now offer more vegetarian and vegan friendly options, keep up the great work!

Better off going to Tim Hortons. New owners are dragging the place down. Total city slickers - who don’t care about your experience.just your money!

I believe the way they run their business does not reflect my values. Sometimes you need to keep that which helped build the name and brand. Will not be returning.

Sticky buns were delicious, early Sunday morning is quieter which is a treat. The Christmas decorations are really pretty.

Will not be supporting the new business owners. Their actions and mentality are not acceptable for our small town.

Used to be my favourite stop in town, but since the new owners took over, I will not be going back. They have the mentality of a city franchise and not the heart that a small town needs. People talk, and after the wrong termination of their best employee, I will not be back! Go else where summerlanders! Being pretentious will get you nowhere! Bring back the old owners!

The beanery is good some of the time. However they often get my order wrong, or made to poor quality. Also they charge $. 65 for ketchup.really? I’d understand if it’s like homemade or something but it’s from a store bought bottle.over all, hit or miss. Also, almost ridiculously expensive. I heard they were bought out and it’s changing to a sandwich shop (wow! Like the subway down the street.)

Summerland's best business. Great coffee and cheese buns. I only wish I didn't run into everyone I've ever met in my life when I pop by.

I really love the decor and how friendly the staff and other patrons tend to be. The food and beverages I've tried have also been excellent. Great value and a wonderful vibe!
