The Boathouse Restaurant

We went to the bar for the Happy Hour menu, which is far more reasonable than their regular menu. The drinks and food were great and portions for happy hours were better than I expected.

The best thing about the Boathouse is the view. Especially if you can get a seat near the railing on the balcony. The food is expensive and pretty so-so. Definately don't go here for good value or something incredibly gourmet.

Attentive server took good care of us. I appreciated the blanket for the girls in our party who didn't dress for sunset outside.

Great view of White Rock beach. Servers were super friendly and very helpful with suggestions on what else to do down there. Food was alright but definitely nothing special, you're essentially paying for the view as well

Great team work by the manager & our server as they were quite busy with large number of customers.

We’re very upset with food quality. It was a special occasion and we definitely have chosen wrong place.
Price is pretty high but food wasn’t good, food presentation as well. We didn’t like any of items we ordered, won’t come back. The only positive is restaurant’s location.

Serving staff were reasonably pleasant and efficient. Food was good. I had a Korean BBQ chicken burger with fries, and my wife had a tuna poke bowl

This was a great place many years ago, it was one of my favorites. At this point I don't know why I go back once a year to be more and more disappointed. To start the service is garbage, the the food quality is the same. I'd say the only reason they are still in business is due to their location. I definitely won't be back! My money and time would have been better spent grabbing some takeout elsewhere and enjoying it on the beach.

Went here for lunch today, took over an hour to get our food and the appetizer came at the same time. Waitress came to check on us once and to top it off the wife now has food poisoning!

It's all about the upper deck looking out to the ocean. The food was good, nothing outstanding or memorable, but worth a visit.

Great view, very relaxing atmosphere, the food was great, and Helen our waitress had some great suggestions that made our delicious food even more amazing!

The patio was a very busy place and the staff did have a bit of a time trying to keep up so getting the order was a bit longer then expected but the food was great and the service was the same. They also made sure that the cooks had been aware of my crab allergy and made the adjustments. I highly recommend it.

Didn’t take long to get a seat by the railing. Food was really good - seems like they change up the menu every once in a while so that’s a good thing. We shared the curry shrimp & chicken bowl - very tasty. Also the ahi tuna nachos were delicious. There were six on a crunchy taco so that was fine to split for 2 of us. The drinks always refreshing. The Aperol drink was my choice. Hubby had a Coronarita and sangria - he enjoyed both! Always great to walk around White Rock.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place. Had the halibut, super bland, no flavor. The sangria was more water than sangria. Service was slow and floor was littered. Staff was friendly though.

Service was slow, food is way over priced… small portion. Soaked in grease (fish and chips) soggy, would be the word to describe the fish. Crab dip was half full and the chips are stale and thrown on the plate… sad really. And no one really cared… “it is what it is” is the new customer service.

We went there for our anniversary, the service was phenomenal; from greeting to sitting down, answering our questions with thoughtful suggestions. Since it was a hot day, the server was tentative with water refills too.

However the seafood pasta and lobster ravioli was average, we felt they had a hard time to bring out the lobster flavour and the seafood pasta sauce was quite bland.

Caesar salad needed to be cut, we suspect they are experimenting with the presentation but it wasn't practical; the romaine lettuce was bulky and hard to cut, also lacking dressing.

While our seacuterie board was delicious and well balanced with 5 tastes, the portion was tiny (5x10" board) for a hefty price tag.

We loved our cocktails, they were refreshing. We understood the pandemic was hard for restaurants but the overall food experience was inconsistent and a bit disappointing especially when the portion was miniscule.

Avast! Prepare yourselves for a tale of woe from my recent visit to the Boathouse, where my hopes of a delectable dining experience were dashed upon the rocks.

We decided the crew would go with a chilled seafood platter, along with the “Mixed Seafood Grill” which, according to the menu is, “fresh grilled salmon / prawns / scallops / crab stuffed prawns / pernod buerre blanc” little did we know the shipwreck we had gotten ourself in to. First, let's address the rice. Oh, that sad excuse for sustenance! It tasted like microwaved 1-minute rice that even a starving sailor would reject. To make matters worse, the rice wasn't even mentioned on the menu. Was it an afterthought? An attempt to fill the plate with something, anything? Whatever the case, it was an unwelcome surprise and an insult to my taste buds.

The so-called "mixed seafood grill. " was a tragedy in every sense of the word. The flavors were as absent as a desert island, leaving me wondering if the chef had forgotten to season the seafood altogether. The prawns were bland and overcooked, the salmon was… thick tasting rich and salty, but somehow neither the good kind. Almost like a bucket of warm milk had toppled atop; and the single scallop was as dull as a barnacle-encrusted rock. The portion size? It would have made a goldfish blush with embarrassment. For the exorbitant price we paid, I expected a feast fit for a king, but all I received was a pitiful selection of lackluster seafood the little amount only hidden by the Uncle Bens rice and undercooked vegetables.

In conclusion, our visit to The Boathouse was a regrettable mistake. The rice tasted like a microwave mishap, and the "mixed seafood grill" was a flavorless fiasco. The seafood tower lacked flavour and for the price expected much much more. With disappointment as deep as the Mariana Trench, I urge you to steer clear of this establishment if you seek a satisfying seafood experience. Unless you are a daring billionaire looking for a deadly culinary voyage, sail away to greener culinary pastures, my friends, for The Boathouse falls far short of the mark.

Our server was lovely though. I wish I got her name as she deserves a raise having to keep a straight face while selling the pitiful food at it’s extraordinary prices. Five stars for her.

Pacific Fish and Chips were terrible. Grey soggy, fishy tasting cod. Very disappointing. As a frequent visitor I would reccomend anywhere else in white rock for fish and chips.

Loved this place both times we went. Service was great, atmosphere was lovely both in and outside on the rooftop. View of the ocean and boardwalk is beautiful. Food is always great, very impressed.

We saw this spot and thought it was going to be an amazing experience, a beautiful location overlooking the ocean. Don't judge a book by its cover. We sat on the main patio and waited 15 mins just to place our order for a beer and food. I ordered the fish tacos as it's one of my go-to items and was so looking forward to having lunch. It took 40 mins for us to get our food. I took 2 bikes of my food and had to send it back. I'm a chef of 25 years and could tell right away that the food was a bit off and should not have been served. I completely lost my appetite and will be going to McDonald's for a cheese burger after I write this post. If you want a rooftop patio and beer with a view, this would be a good place I assume. As for us, we will not be returning!

Went there for lunch on Sunday, fish and chips was soggy, the burger one of us had had a soggy bun. Will never go back again. Why serve frozen fish when you are so close to the ocean. Very disappointed. The Bellinis had no flavour.

Excellent venue, view and service. The Sunday lunch host today was an absolute star. The staff all seemed happy to work there. Great fish and chips and the coffee was wonderfully smooth. Can’t wait to return!

Never going back there again, after waiting for an hour to have my hamburger, it finally came totally raw and I watched how food was sitting at the kitchen for more than 30 minutes to be served. Terrible experience.

It's was ok, beautiful view of the sea though. A little pricey for the quality. $26 for fish and chips.

Went for my birthday, reservations were met including a request to sit by the window. Dinner was absolutely delicious, great wine list, lovely staff and a free birthday dessert.

Food was super mediocre and incredibly overpriced for the quality and quantity of what you got. Our table of 6 ordered a wide variety of different food & drinks, not a single one of us was satisfied. If the service wasn't so amazing (thank you Ag!) then we would have just walked out. If you're hungry, you get better portions, variety, & pricing over at Charlie's or Ocean Beach.
